10 To 90 Percent Of Internet Connectivity Down - Cannot Ping Sites?
Sep 12, 2011
I have ATT DSL and pretty much every night, I lose a large portion of the Internet. I cannot ping these sites, while the rest of the net works fine. The other night, I could not ping major domains like ATT, CNN, MSNBC, BBC (a chronic missing domain). On the other hand, I could get Yahoo fine and go to a streaming audio site and run music perfectly...but about 90% of the Internet was unreachable. Could not load their sites nor ping them in command line. The other 10% worked flawlessly.
I have a laptop that works perfectly fine when plugged into a network cable, but the wifi refuses to work. It pulls an ip, and everything looks good when I run ipconfig/all, but it can't even ping the router. All other computers on the network are working fine. I've flushed dns, set static IP and DNS, uninstalled/reinstall device, updated drivers, bios, and firmware, and even created a backup image of the computer and reloaded the os using the recovery partition. The event log doesn't tell me anything, and there are no flags in the device manager. I'm at a complete and total loss. I cannot figure this one out.The laptop is a Compaq Presario CQ50-142US. Vista 32bit OS. Everything was working perfectly fine before it got a virus. I ran through the standard procedures of AVG, Malwarebytes, TDSSKiller, and even resorted to Combofix, but somewhere along the line the wifi dropped off and will not come back.I even double checked the HOSTS file and IE proxy settings to ensure I wasn't crazy; although I know those should've affected the wired connect too.My last step is to either replace the wifi chip (which I don't think is the problem), or wipe it and load the os from scratch, but I don't have an oem disc since it has the recovery partition.
I have a Windows7 laptop that was working fine til yesterday.I switched it on at home last night and it picked up my wireless connection but when I opened IE or Firefox it would not access any webpage (blank screen, no address that its resolving on status bar at the bottom and just a progress bar (IE) or a 'searching' icon (firefox)The network connection page in control panel says that it is connected and I can ping sites from the command prompt and some other software such as skype seems to be connecting.I have disable both bullguard firewall and made sure the windows firewall is off.I have come into work this morning and am getting the same problems, even when connected by ethernet cable, I can also see other computers on the network.I was occasionally getting a dial up connection pop up box appearing from an old dial-up connection I had set up, but have now deleted this connection.

I have two sites with a dedicated, point to point, LAN, site 1 has a Cisco 1700, LAN IP: 192.168.0.101; Site 2 has a Cisco 1800, LAN IP: 192.168.1.101.From site 2 I can ping the router on the other side: 192.168.0.101, but nothing else on that network
From Site 1 I can't ping the other network at all,Both sites ping fine to their respective local interfaces. I also noticed, when trying to ping site 2 from 1, the "WIC ACT/CH" light blinks, otherwise it's off.
Site 1 has it's own web connection through COMCAST, site 2 is set to route through site's 1 connection to go out. The only thing the routers are doing are the actual connection between sites, and in the case of site 2, routing web traffic to 192.168.0.100, which is a Sonicwall on Site 1.
This was all working just fine, for a long time, up until yesterday, when the problem I described started happening.
I have been accessing my webmail account everyday for the past 3yrs with not problem until this week. Stopped working mid week. No changes to computers. Have 3 and none will access this site any longer. Just times out. Sometimes I can ping and other times not. Can log onto other networks and access with out any problems. My ISP says it is not their problem. (Site is [URL]).
We are in the process of evaluating Cisco wireless controllers and AP. We have 3602 APs and 2504 controllers right now. We have multiple branch offices connected to the main office through layer 3 and they all have different vtp domains and vlans. I am trying to deploy APs at the branch offices and connect them back to the controller and the central site. I created a sub interface and ssid with one of the vlans at the branch office on the controller and was able to get the AP to join the controller through DNS. However, a client at the branch office connected to the AP was unable to ping anything at the branch and central sites. Any documentations on how to deploy such a setup where the controller is at the central site and AP at the branch office going through multiple routers in between?
MY ISP installed one router in my lab.for internet connectivity they mail me steps :connect your Laptop directly to gi0/3 port to check internet connectivity with public ip 1.1.1.x and Gateway 1.1.1.1 with subnet mask 255.255.255.240 after connection I surprised because I am able to access only google sites like gmail, google search etc. but I am able to ping/traceroute all sites.from browser I am able to access only google sites only.In Router no firewall no such access list.
From My Router that connects to Cable modem i am unable to ping website 4.2.2.2I am able to ping all other websites fines.Same website i can ping from my pc and all other switches fine.Router has only 1 ACL thats for NAT.
I am having an issue with my computer that started today. Here are the basic facts:1. Nearly every internet site I try to visit does not load. Facebook and Wikipedia work, as well as ALL Google sites (including YouTube, Gmail, Google News, etc.). Nothing else I have tried to load is loading properly. 2. It could be a coincidence, but these three sites were also my Firefox bookmarks. However, I have reset the default settings for Firefox (including bookmarks) and these three sites still work and nothing else. Additionally, these three sites load in Internet explorer, so the problem isn't specific to Firefox. 3. I don't believe it's a problem with my router/internet connection because I have another computer on the same connection that's working fine (I'm typing this message on the other computer). 4. I successfully pinged other websites using Command.5. I suspect it MIGHT be malware/virus because I have no anti-virus/anti-malware software on the computer that's having problems.
I'm having problems connecting to certain sites on the internet through one computer. I can connect ok on other computers going through the same home network. On the one computer that is having problems I can connect to the site but then when I click on a link I get unable to connect then I can reload the page and some times it connects to the page. So as I am browsing through the site almost every time I click on a link I get unable to connect and have to keep reloading the page.
I have today the issue that I am unable to load certain websites, I can enter but whenever I click on continue to navigate in that same site for example FACEBOOK, I see the operation just loads and dont go anywhere, after that remains in same condition unless I cancel or close the browser.I checked the firewall, and also the antivirus, but nothing seems wrong, I can get in into HOTMAIL, GOOGLE, but again certain sites if I search something on GOOGLE, get frozen again .
Whenever i try to download an exe file from the internet, its just get stuck at 99%. It doesn't happen with .rar or any other file. Not to mention, I was able to download net fremwork 4.0 exe installer though. I tried these things: Used different browsers. Used different download managers. Disabled firewall and AV.
I am having a Cisco 4507 switch. The CPU on the switch is running between 50% to 60% constantly. To troubleshoot I collected some logs using debugs & show commands.
debug platform packet all receive buffer show platform cpu packet buffered debug platform packet all count show platform cpu packet statistics show processes cpu sorted | exc 0.00 show platform health show platform cpu packet statistics
show platform health output shows the below process crossing the target value.
%CPU %CPU RunTimeMax Priority Average %CPU Total Target Actual Target Actual Fg Bg 5Sec Min Hour CPU Stub-JobEventSchedul 10.00 13.41 10 47 100 500 13 13 10 5462:52 K2PortMan Review 3.00 5.35 15 11 100 500 4 4 3 1799:47
What I need to know is, though these process are running in Low Priority, will there be any issue if the CPU goes high due to these process.
I have just finished installing LMS 4.2 on a new VM (Windows 2008 R2 Standard Edition SP1). I have already reloaded the server, all LMS services have correctly started. However, the process CS_sm_server.exe still using 100% CPU.Windows 2008 R2 Standard Edition SP1
I am having trouble with my wireless connection. I am only able to visit websites but if I try to use the internet for anything else (AIM, Yahoo instant messenger, etc), it will not work. This is not a modem issue because my other computers' connections still work fine.
I am currently at university, using a Local Area Connection. I am aware that the university blocks torrenting which I am totally fine with though when I try to carry out a process such as posting a large entry on Livejournal.com or Dreamwidth.org, it tries to load for a couple seconds and then fails. When in Google Chrome, it says that it's "uploaded 100%" but then I receive "Error 7 (net::ERR_TIMED_OUT): The operation timed out.". When using Internet Explorer, it either doesn't load at all or I get the standard "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". When I try to carry out a different process on dreamwidth and livejournal (editing my layout), Chrome tells me "Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): The connection was reset." These issues always happen no matter when I try them.
My bsnl wimax connection has stopped working on my laptop...IT WORKS ON MY FREINDS' LAPTOP. On my laptop (windows 7), in the taskbar, it shows connected and everything seems fine but i cant access any sites or download anything? Does this have to do with a bluetooth device i installed a few days back or some other issue.
My Toshiba will not connect. I keep getting cannot connect to server messages. Also get the error 623 message. Im not sure what to do. I use Windows xp on it. Bought it in 2006. I had thought about reseting it to factory settings but I never made restore disks and cannot find the toshiba reset stuff.
We are running Cisco 6509-e and we are running load test and when traffic reach 80 mbps switch start reponding very slow. I checked CPU usage and it was using 100% and connection to the switch from outside to inside are 80K. once connection dropp Cisco release CUP and it start responding normal. [code]
We have two offices connected using Site-to-Site VPN (IPSEC) as shown:(IP ficticius)Office 1 - We had to use 2 routers since we have a range of valid IPs: From a host in office 2 we normally ping 192.168.102.1 (gateway at office 1),But when pinging a host inside office 1 (eg: 192.168.102.8) 50% of packets have been lost.Could it be a hardware problem?
I am working at a client site that is an MPLS customer. The customer has an MPLS circuit that runs between their Main HQ and their Disaster Recovery site. I have been asked to analyze and report as well on the way the Qos Policy is written, and to provide any recommendations on how they can improve performance. There is a statement within the Qos Policy as it exists at each end on the 3825 routers. The statement is called "shape average percent". Here is the policy from one side:
policy-map QoS class COS2_traffic set dscp af31 shape average percent 12 bandwidth percent 13
[code]....
What does this statement mean and how is it different than the the "bandwidth percent" statement?
I have two switches that always are with yours CPU in 39 or 40 %. the switches are:
IOS (tm) C3500XL Software (C3500XL-C3H2S-M), Version 12.0(5)WC3b, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
I think it's very strange the CPU always in 39 or 40 %. neither all ports of the switches are busy there are 6 ports free in each switch. 40 % I think it is a high value for CPU maybe because my IOS version 12.0 ?
Im running ASA 8.0(3) on Active/StandBy failover pair.Last night I realized the CPU usage of my production ASA was 99%,,, on the ASDM Firewall Dashboard I can see counters like this:
Dropped Packet Rate (ACL Dropped) = 6000+ (more than 6 thousand) Scanning Attacks = 18600+ (more than Eighteen thousand)
I went on the ASDM and checked the RealTime Log viewer and I have about 30 entries per second of these: 4Oct 19 201111:35:12401004Shunned packet: 10.64.10.1 ==> 10.64.0.1 on interface NewLAN
I have an ASA 5520 with a CSC-SSM modul, the problem is when i am logging in to my ASDM, on the content security monitoring, it's showing the CPU and memory are at 100%(CSC) but when i directly connect csc-ssm MODULE it comes down,so is it problem with ASDM , java OR csc.
I'm using my iPhone to write this, because any other site that's not google just ends up as a blank white screen!Internet connection is 5 bars, and I tried cable and changing DSN servers.
I want to join two sites over an internet connection using a Site-to-Site VPN over an ASA5505 and C2621XM Router. The ASA is on IOS 8.4 and the router is 12.4.
I installed a CSC-SSM-20 module on ASA 5510. After policy services have been enabled, services works well for a few minutes, after that the cpu usage's module rise to 100% and all http traffic is wholy blocked, till the cpu usage go down. This happens very frequently and traffic stay blocked for such a long time that it makes the csc-ssm module unusable. It's disabled right now. ASA version is 8.2(1)and CSC-Module version is 6.6.1172.0.
