Any one experience with this issue that cannot access to console port. USB serial cable and terminal server working fine with all other ASA 5510 except one of them. I rarely see the console and aux port failed to response.

I have interited an ASA5505 problem. We're trying to manage the ASA remotely - we can connect to the device remotely via IPSec, we can ping other devices on the LAN network, but cannot ping the inside interface of the ASA - nor can we telnet/ssh/http to it. We can, however, connect to another router that's on the LAN and then SSH into the ASA's inside interface.
My IP via VPN: 10.133.20.8
The ASA interface we're trying to connect to via SSH or ASDM: 10.4.209.254
A router on the LAN we can connect to 10.4.209.250
We can ping other LAN devices such as 10.4.209.75, .90, .150 - so it's not a NAT/Route/Split Tunnel issue.I've attached the ASA config.
hostname ASA5505
enable password XXXXXXXXXXX encrypted
passwd XXXXXXXXXX encrypted
names
name 10.4.209.248 rpm_router

I currently have an ASA 5510 unit. I have a dmz setup which house some web servers and an inside interface. The web servers contain multiple public ip addresses which I have natted and access is fine. What is the most simple way to enable ping for my dmz from the outside. Meaning if someone outside the network pings one of the servers by its public ip address I would like it to respond to ping.

II have a management network 192.168.5.x and VPN network 192.168.25.x. I can ping a all my network elements except to firewall (ASA5510). The ASA has the IP 192.168.5.1. I think that the firewall has some restriction but I don't know. I have 8.2 software and any connect 3.0 and work fine. If I am in the management network (192.168.5.7), I can ping to firewall. The restrict is with the VPN network.

Background: I have a couple of ASA 5510's I'm going to put in our lab environment. I have restored them to default config and set up the m0/0 interface with an ip/mask and started the http server. My lab environment is on the 10.45 subnet and my .com corporate environment is on the 10.40 subnet. I've also setup DNS and, from the ASA, can ping anything in the 10.45 subnet.
The problem, is that from the ASA, I can not ping the internet or my 10.40 subnet. And vice versa, I cannot ping the ASA from my 10.40 subnet. When I bring up a regular server, there is no special configuration I need to do as those subnets talk to each other and nothing is restricted.
Is there something special I need to do go get it to work? I tried adding a access list to allow icmp, but that didn't seem to work.Oh, and I'm getting to the ASA by RDPing into a lab server (on 10.45) then putty to the ASA.

I have a mail archiver (hardware device) in my network that I need to access to from the Ipad/iphone. There is an app for it but I have to allow the access on the ASA. I created an 'object' for the device and added a Static NAT entry for it, then added an access rule. Its not working so I am guessing I did it wrong. The device uses port 8000 which I also added to the object. correct commands, or using the ASDM works too.

What are considered the best practices for monitoring ASA's--specifically the 5510 with Sec+ License.
My current monitoring application keeps reporting issues with outbound interface buffers being too high, but there are not any performance issues and I believe the thresholds are just set absurdly low.

The ASA is configured in very simple transparent mode. As desired, traffic can flow in each direction between inside and outside. I can manage the ASA via console and direct connection to the management interface. The problem is that I cannot ping or ssh to the ASA via the inside interface. I need to be able to manage the ASA from any PC on the inside LAN. I suspect I am missing some easy aspect of the configuration but after a lot of hours I'm about at the end of my patience with it. Here is what I believe to be the relevant parts of the config.
ASA Version 8.2(1)
!
firewall transparent
hostname issr1
enable password 2alej83t5cqT0FWd encrypted
passwd 4kleUY438I93.4ljdh encrypted

I used to have this situation where I need to replace faulty ASA5510 (this FW did not failover to standby FW) with the new one.
But the problem is the new ASA5510 came with Base License only not with Security Plus License which is needed to allow this brand new device to be configure failover.
how do I pull out Security Plus License from old FW and switch it to new FW (Base License) and activate to Security Plus License.

After pulling a brand new ASA5515 out of the box this morning, I spent countless hours scratching my head wondering why:
1. I cannot establish an HTTPS connection to the Management port - https://192.168.1.1/admin
2. When connecting via the console port I get prompted with a username and password sequence that I don't know
I get an SSL Version Error message when I try to connect with any browser. although I did find a way to resolve it, it requires a console port connection which is not working either. This is not my typical experience with the console or ASDM port setup.

We have two ASA5510s, each with outside interfaces to the same two ISPs (different IP addresses within the same subnet, of course). Both ASAs allow ICMP on all (inside and outside) interfaces. One ASA's default route is to ISP-1 and the other is to ISP-2. We can ping the default gateways for both ISPs from only one ASA. From the other ASA, we can only ping the default gateway for the default route but not the other. The pings originate from an inside client, first configured with the default gateway for ASA-1, then for ASA-2. Why does this happen, how do I troubleshoot something like this and how do I fix it?

Switching out a 5510 as our primary firewall with a 5520. I've essentially copied the working config from the 5510, and put it on to the 5520, making small changes where necessary. Plug everything. I cannot get out to the internet.
Facts:
-All interfaces have no shut on them
-No machine can ping out to the internet gateway
-All machines can ping out to the inside interface of the firewall
-It's not a problem with the internet because I can take a laptop, enter in our outside interface information, plug it into the internet gateway, and I can get out to the internet just fine.

I recently added a business cable modem to relieve some of the congestion I was getting on my T1 for our MPLS network. There was an ASA 5510 collecting dust in a closet here and I thought it would be the perfect device for firewalling the traffic coming in from the Cable modem, and handling the routing of our internal MPLS traffic as well. Internet setup was cake. The test laptop I have using the ASA as it's gateway has great internet service but it cannot ping across either of our MPLS networks. I have one MPLS with AT&T and one MPLS with EarthLink. My hope was to use the cable modem as the Default route for all unspecified internet traffic and route our internal MPLS traffic to the cisco 2800 routers that are currently in place for the MPLS. I can ping across the MPLS when I telnet to the ASA, but I cannot ping across the MPLS from the client that is connected to the ASA.
Here's the topology I'm working with

We let cisco professional to configure 1941w router with EHWIC-3G card. So the Gig 0/0 and wlan clients could communicate the internet over 3G.So we bought another 1941w and copied the config over to new one. Can ping from console but not from client pc. The only differents between old and new is "ip source-nat" line. New router just don't save it to running-conf. No errors also.

I have been having problems with a 2106 WLC which seems to have developed a fault. I cannot console into the device (although I can console into the ap1131ag showing no fault with the RJ45 - 9 Pin) and the device is no longer showing up in any of the possible I.P ranges.
Its showing a power light and a status light on the front panel, the Ethernet ports light up like a Christmas tree when a device is connected and the power supply is putting out a solid 47.7v.
Has anyone experienced anything like this before and can anyone suggest anyway of breathing life back into it?

I have an ASA 5510 in a live environment. Up til a short while ago I could access this via the ASDM and ssh. However I can no longer connect to it via eithier. When I access It via SSH I get a disclaimer saying the following
*** You have entered a restricted zone! Authorized access only!!! Disconnect immediately if you are not authorized user! ***
It then cuts me off.
When I try to access the ASDM I get the following
The firewall is running all its services without a problem and I can ping the device without any issues. Also none of the config (to my knpowledge has been changed). I set up a console session and http server enable is still there with
http 192.168.200.0 255.255.255.0 inside

So I have a client with an ASA 5520 running version 9.0 (was on 8.4) that I am trying to get either IPSec or SSL VPN configured on. I got everything setup and tried to connect. However, I couldn't connect to either. I fired up the real time monitoring and didn't see any syslog messages referring to a VPN build up. I also enabled SSH/Telnet on the outside interface and cannot connect to the ASA outside interface. I can ping the outside interface and can ping the internet from the ASA. I did set up a test ACL on the ASA and ran packet tracer on it and the results came back fine.
There is an IPS in the ASA as well, but I disabled the ACL for that and still am having these issues. Part of me wonders if the ISP has something set up to block inbound traffic. This should be a business class connection.

I am transitioning from a Microsoft ISA server to a Cisco ASA 5510. So far so good, until it comes to getting AAA functioning properly. I have a Microsoft IAS server that is functioning properly, however when I try to test it through the ASA's ASDM it errors out. When I run a packet trace it shows it's being blocked by the dreaded implicit ACL. The funny thing is that I can ping and traceroute to the IAS server from the ASA. I found numerous config examples for AAA using IAS, but still not working.
Could it possibly be behaving this way because my ASA and my IAS server are on two different internal netowrks? (172.31.1.x-ASA, 10.1.1.x-IAS)

I can ssh into the firewall using the management port (192.168.1.1) from the Linux command line. However, I cannot connect using a browswer (192.168.1.1) to install ASDM.

I have an early model PIX-515 that hasn't been used in a long time but I want to get it working again in a lab environment. I am at loss right now on how to get into it though.
CONSOLE:
I've tried connecting from the PC's serial port to the units console port using Cisco's blue cable with no avail. All I get is a cursor but no response. I've tried using 9600,8,none,1,none as settings and I can sucessfully console a Cisco 1700 router with those same settings in Putty no problem, but it doesn't work with this Pix. I've also tried using other possible common speeds like 1200,1400,4800,19200, 38400, 57600 and 115200 in case the firewall was set to use those and that didn't work either.

There are two Polycom devices behind ASA (Terminal HDX7000 and MCU RMX1000), ASA is connected to Cisco 1900 router which is connected to ISP.
Polycom devices are NATed (unique global address per device) on router and h323 inspection is done on ASA. The issue is that when trying to connect from outside to conference on MCU I don't receive any video (but MCU shows me like a connected participant). The same is true when MCU try to call outside terminals, they are shown as connected participants, but there is just a black screen. On ASA all ports are opened (both in and out) and there are no ACLs on router. And what means NAT configuration on Polycom devices, why it is needed when NATing is done on router (such configuration option I've seen also on Tandberg and another vendor's devices)?
