Cisco LAN :: 2950 - No IOS - Xmodem Transfer Fails?

Bought a used 2950 for CCNA labs. I have no IOS and cannot get a successful transfer via xmodem. In ROMmon after the transfer completes text shows up as gibberish, commands seem to work. Text is normal after I reconnect. Dir flash: doesn't show any sys image, only a -rwx file. I have tried various IOS versions. This was purchased used, so it's possible it isn't working. This is my first time configuring a switch, I might have missed something simple.
I'm trying to upgrade my 2950G-24-EI via tftp but it looks like the sw can't transfer any of the files completely or with errors. I downloaded the BIN+TAR files from Cisco (and from another site) matching my Catalyst and opened an TFTP server on my PC. The files are :
We could not able to upload an IOS for 7206 router with NPE-150 via xmodem as there was no image available in flash it is in rommon mode. But same can be done in 1841. So how to upload an image in flah for 7206 via xmodem.Where the IOS will be stored in 7206, wethet in flash or NPE. If it's in flash what for NPE used other than for routing engine capabilities.
So apparently the 3600 series do not support the tftpdnld to upgrade your ISO when you upgrade your flash. You have to use the Xmodem transfer as described here: Xmodem Console Download Procedure Using ROMmon [URL]. everything is going great but it is going to take another 3 hours.
Now when i installed the new flash at bootup it said the "device does not contain a valid magic number" now that is just because the flash is not formatting correctly and downloading the new flash file automatically formats the flash setup?
I am trying to configure a switch that was given to me. They don't know the password to anything. I have already tried to recover it. The problem is, the switch doesn't load flash, or will copy flash from xmodem either. It also doesnt load the helper or boot. It is user mode and lets me do nothing. It doesnt let me use the enable command to get into it. I would like to start the config from scratch. Its a 3500xl switch, 24 ports. I dont know what to do with it. I am trying to study for my CCENT Exam and would like a switch that worked.
We have installed last Network Assistant version, 5.6(3), but we can't add any switch to it.... It says always "Unsopported Device type: unknown".Our switches are all 2950, 2960 and 2970 models.
in the last days i'm encountering some issue about ping on some 2950 access layer.These ones are directly connect (fiber trunk) to 4500 core switches. Ping response is very high between 200 up to 600 ms for a period about 30-40 seconds, then returns to normal valueI tried to ping every host connected to this 2950 and ping responses are normal 1ms or less.
Telco provided a BGP connection on MPLS network. When I connect router directly to Telco switch I can see BGP neighbor, so my router BGP config is OK. However, I need to put this router in a diffferent building and want to bring the connection over on a "trunk"; now I loose the BGP neighbor. I'm sure I did this before and it worked OK. I'm trunking between 2 x2950 switches using this config on each switch. [code]
I also configured the trunk as vlan 1214, which is the encapsulation provided by the Telco (dot1Q 1214).
Is it possible to run VTP V3 on 2950 and 2960 switches. If so what version of IOS supports V3? Our 2960s are running 12.2(25r)SEE1, and 2950s are running 12.1(22)EA4a. Neither of which supports v3.
I have a catalyst 2950 ver. 12.1 EA(48 SI) and intend to upgrade to the latest version of the software. But there have been Four different IOS IMAGE releases before the latest one of 2008. My question is, DO I HAVE TO UPGRADE THE PREVIOUS FOUR RELEASES BEFORE THE NEW ONE OR WILL UPGRADING DIRECTLY TO THE 2008 NEW IMAGE Suffice?
Im looking to connect up 4 new pcs to network but I don't have enough wall ports. I thought I could plug cisco 2950 switch into the port on the wall and act like a hub. The switch configuration is default and there is only one vlan. How is it that it won't connect. Does it need a crossover cable.
I am trying to figure out how to setup quality of service on my network. At the moment i have computers connected to the PC port of my IP phone and the IP phone connected to the switch.I want the PC to stay on the default native VLAN and the phone to go on the VLAN 10I am using SNOM300 and SNOM360. What is the difference between the 2950 and 2950c switches? I tried finding it on the feature navigator but I couldn't. And I wasn't able to get anything from the Cisco website either. (I didn't really look through the long PDFs, I'm sure there is a more simple way to find the answer to this that I'm not aware of.)

I need to update the software for the switch 2950 we have in our LAN. Its been 6 long years I have not looked at this switch and so now is the time since I have had some issue (ie. Outlook losing connections and once in a while email get send out AGAIN for bazzarre reason)

This is the current status of the switch (Cisco 2950, WS-C2950T-SI, 12.1(22)EA4a - C2950 - I6Q4L2-M ). I want to understand what is the difference between C2950 EI AND SI IOS CRYPTO and web based device manager and C2950 EI AND SI IOS IMAGE AND WEB BASED DEVICE MANAGER and which one should I be using for my switch?
We are in a process to replace our old end of life switches( mostly Cisco 2950's) with some new offerings from cisco. Attached is our current network diagram. Anny merit of using Cisco Nexus switches in this design and also what will be the benifit in doing so. Again I am asking about the specific benefits which I will get in my Network not general benifits of nexus.
I have a etherchannel defined between 2 L2 switches using LACP as shown below. The etherchannel works fine, however when I hard code speed/duplex on both ends the etherchannel fails. What is causing this behaviour?

Is there a way to get more messages out of a 2950 set to syslog? I've turned every logging option I can find to DEBUG, but all I get in my syslog are LinkUp/Down messages and "Configured from console by console". I'd love to see more information such as configuration changes, or even someone attempting to set up DTP on a switchport set to access mode.
One of my wi-fi site having 2nos cisco 2950 switchs. in that network some D-link unmanageble swithes also there and access points also connected to cisco switchs and D-link switchs.after one or two days i am not able to connect the wi-fi, then i need to restart the access point then only wi-fi is working fine.I upgraded the latest ios also.I connected some access points to the cisco switch ports, those ports are showing crc error messages like below. I have a server windows 2008 that I would like to have a nic teaming configuration, the server has two nics, each nic is connected to a different switch. One is connected to cisco 2960 and the other is connected to cisco 2950. I have read here in forums about nic teaming but using the same switch. I have not found using different switch. Is this possible?
I have a problem with an etherchannel between a cisco 2950 and a couple of catalyst 4506. The cisco 2950 is connect via an etherchannel to the catalyst 4506A. The channel consist of two port on both side and is in trunk mode, encapsulation dot1q.Now i have the necessity to connect the 2950 to the other catalyst, 4506B. So, i copy the same configuration on the 4506B, but when I unplug the two rj45 cables from the catalyst 4506A to plug them in the 4506B the etherchannel doesn't go up in any way.
Any quick breakdown on the differences between some Network Management software titles. I dont know when you would use each one or what the limitations are of each. When you would use each and if there are any gotchas or limits to watch out for? It looks like Prime is a paid for product but will any of the free solutions (CNA, CCP, CCA) work with all enterprise level products (2950, 2960, 3560, 3750, 4948, 4900 4500 switches and 1800, 1900, 2800, 2900, 3800, 3900 routers) or do you have to use Prime to get a product that will mange these devices?

Can't get cisco router and switch to see each other? When I connect the 2620 router to a 2950 switch no link lights turn on. It's the same when I connect any router to either of the two 2950 switches I have. I can connect to both switch and router from a pc using telnet and the router can connect to a regular tp-link switch. I'm a newbie when It comes to Cisco. I've connected a dslmodem/router to a fast ethernet port(fa0/1) on a 2620 router.There is a 2950 switch connected to the other port (fa0/0).I can ping the Internet via the router but and the switch but not from a host connected to the switch.I can't reach the dslmodem from the host pc.I've configured nat(overload) on the router.
I'm unable to connect to the internet?My university gave us student permission toset up a cisco lab. I hve an 1841 router and a 2950 catalyst switch in a single room. Fa0/1 is conncted to the switch using a 192.168.3.0 /24 network. DHCP is correctly assaigning ip addresses to the switch.
I connected the Fa0/0 port to the wall and used the following command to obtain an ip on the Fa0/0 port: ip adress dhcp. I used the following route command: ip route dhcp. That didn't work so I used the ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Fa0/0.When I run the sh cdp neighbors command I see a multilayer switch that show me connected to the Ga2/26 port with ip:192.168.179.254.I also see that the default vlan is 200 and the voice vlan is 800.
A linksys router is about to let us access the internet. I am able to ping the 192.168.179.254 address from the 1841 router.What am I missing to connect to the internet.I forgot to mention that I successfully receive an ip from the wall. The latest ip I received was 192.168.179.100 /24.
I have been though the setup a couple of time with no luck pinging one pc to another from vlan 10 to vlan 20. I posted the running configs and some other information from my router and switch. I am relatively new to all of this so if you need me to post more information from the hardware let me know and Ill put it up. There are no firewalls in place and I know the cables are good because I switched them around to make sure. Also when I change the ip on my second machine for vlan 10 I can ping from one pc to the other but when I try the same for vlan 20 I get nothing.
