I have printer sharing turn on, which works fine.On both computers the only user is the Administrator, with this I set file sharing to Guest on both.When I use laptop to access files on my desktop, The public I can access with no problem. When I try to access the users folder I get an error message: Windows cannot access\ mane of computer-PC\Users/You do not have permission to access\ name of computer-PC Users. Contact your network administrator to request access.

Apr 14, 2013All I want to do is to share a couple of Folders, My Documents and Downloads, between two PC's on a Workgroup network.Networking is not my strongest point but up until now I have managed quite successfully.The setup is :-
1st PC is Mike-Laptoppc is on a Wireless connection to an ADSL+2 router/modem.
2nd PC is a Desktop Alexs-PC connected via cable to the same router/modem
I can share all the shared folders from the Desktop to the Laptop, but I can only share Media streaming on the Desktop from the Laptop, so I know there is a connection between the two computers. I have now turned off Media streaming to concentrate on just folder sharing.Whenever I try to access the Laptop from the Desktop I get an " Access Denied you do not have permission contact your administrator " box on the desktop.

Aug 30, 2011I installed a Linksys E1550 wireless router at home and I moved an external storage drive from the old computer (soon to be gone) to the router via the USB port in the router.
I can see the drive and files on the router on both the old computer and the new laptop, but I can't do anything with them. When I look at permissions for any given file it says: "Everyone" has read and execute only. "root" has Full Control, but I can't gain access to the "root" userid. I have gone through the router setup and folder/file properties using the "admin" userid and the router acknowledges that it is there, but it won't allow me to add permissions for the "admin" with "Full Control" to any of the items.
It won't even allow me to add new files, even though I have setup sharing for the entire partition.

Apr 19, 2011I want to share the My Documents folder from an XP machine with ONLY one user (the administrator) on a networked Win 7 machine. I have turned off simple sharing on the XP machine. I hate XP!! So complicated to do anything. Anyway, under security, I have tried share this folder, and not to share folder. I have gone into Advanced and messed around with permissions, taking out Everyone, using Admin only, using Network. At one point I ended up not being able to access My Documents on the local computer and had to jump through many hoops to change ownership and disable read only so that the user could use her own files!The problem is, under Advanced in the permissions area, I cannot see the users on the remote pc to choose which one should be allowed access. how to actually find a particular user on the Win 7 pc and give ONLY that user permission to read (not to change) the files in My Documents on the XP pc.

Windows 7 64bit To Xp 32bit Network Not Giving Permission?
Aug 4, 2011I have the network up and running fine except that the Windows 7 computer cannot open any files on the xp computer. It says that it doesn't have permission and the check with the network administrator. There are no passwords set up on either computer and both run as administrator. The Windows 7 Computer is hard wired to a Linksys router, and the XP uses a wireless N adapter to connect. The windows 7 computer can navigate the xp computer, it just can't open any of the files with any program. From the XP computer I can access and open anything on the Windows 7 computer?

May 9, 2012I have two SSIDs on an Autonomous Access Point, that goes to a 2960 switch, that connects to a L3 3560. I have a vlan for admin/private internal access that uses the native vlan (1) and guest vlan (50). I have configured both and I am trying to get both to go out the same Internet connection.
I cannot get the guest access to access the Internet. It looks like my computer will go, but it just comes up saying no Internet access.All interfaces are trunking this vlan properly. I can communicate from the laptop to the 3560 but I just can't get to the Internet.

Jun 22, 2012I'm having some difficulties with the VLAN setup on the SG-200 and the WiFi access point. The access point (a TP-Link WA801N) is only able to access the internet when it is plugged into a port that is on the default VLAN (PVID 1). If I plug it into one of the other VLANs then any clients connected to the WiFi lose access to the internet and cannot access devices on the VLAN. I created a Dynamic Access Policy on the ASA stating that if you are a member of the Active Directory group "Managment" the continue. I chagned the DefaultAccessPolicy to "Terminate". So with that, VPN users cannot connect because they are not a member of that group, but the access to manage the ASA is allowed because of that policy.Is there a way through using Dynamic Access Policies that I can allow management access (SSH, ASDM, etc) by matching to a group membership and will allow normal users to VPN in successfully but not allow them access to managing the ASA?

However, having added ISP2, I have not been able to successfully create the site-to-site VPN tunnels.

Whenver I try to establish a tunnel on SDM_CMAP_2 and run a test using CCP, I get 2 failure reasons:
1. The peer must be routed through the crypto map interface. The following peer(s) are routed through non-crypto map interface - 4.58.130.130
2. The tunnel traffic destination must be routed through the crypto map interface. The following destinations are routed through non-crypto map interface - 4.58.130.134
The tunnels on SDM_CMAP_1 are all active Do I need to include a default route for the second ISP on the router? If so, how do I get this done? When I tried it, I had loops on the user LAN segment of the network.

After a period of time the entire house goes off line. I have to reboot the power on e2000 router and then disable the access restrictions. System then works. Problem is repeatable. What is the deal. I have updated firmware already. Otherwise the system works great. Never dies. Just when i set access restricions for a SPECIFIC time it kills entiore houese. BTW i can deny him outright 24/7 and the system idsables his access fine. Its just when i set specific times
