I have an old RV082 with firmware version 2.0.0.19. I want to replace it with a new RV082 firmware version 4.0.2.08.I exported the fv2 config but can't restore it on the fv4. I get "invalid file type" error. The fv4 box is looking for a .config file and the fv2 box saves as a .exp file.
View 4 RepliesI have a linksys rv082 VPN router with 35-50 computers, 2 VPN connections, 4 servers. I wondering if replacing the linksys rv082 router with a cisco rv180 VPN router is a good idea. According to the rv180's specifications, it seems to be a good router, my concern is that it looks small in size in comparation with the linksys rv082. I wonder if the rv180 can handle the work and the trafic of my network. I would like to know if it is ok to replace it or what are the risks.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have upgrade the firmware on several RV082 (and RV042) model routers, and all of them have had subsequent WAN connectivity loss. The WAN works for a while, then stops working until the router is restarted, then fails shortly thereafter. I would assume it was some configuration corruption on incompatibility with the upgrade, but the symptom has been universal. EVERY 2.x upgrade I've made to a RV082 or RV042 router has exhibited this symptom. Reverting to the 1.3.98-tm firmware fixes the issue.
View 14 Replies View RelatedThis morning i upgraded a remote RV082 to 4.2.0.1 from 4.0.4.1. Numbers could be off slightly since i'm going from memory. I never got the normal acknowledgement the transfer was complete but after an ample amount of time closed the tunnel from my end, re- established my vpn but when i went to log in i received: RV082 firmware upgrade error? The requested server-side-includes filename, /usr/local/EasyAccess/www/htdocs/default.htm, does not seem to exist./quotei googled it and found similar occurrences with earlier upgrades. I'm assuming it didn't reboot itself upon completion of the xfer, at least i'm hoping a cold reboot will correct this but as i'm remote and this install doesn't have an ethernet power controller i'm stuck until monday. Should i bring a spare RV082 just in case.

Unfortunately, I've really not found anything that comes close to having the features of the old RV. I've looked at NetGear, D-Link, and Cisco/Linksys, but everything seems to fall short (or just have bad reviews). This little RV082 came packed with a lot of features for a lower to mid level gateway.

These are dynamic client IPs btw.I've made all the necessary accounts through the Web Management console but haven't had much luck so far. I did enable PPTP server and disabled "Block WAN Request" today to try again while remote later.
I think this is the v1 model. It has A00 on the back and I know of no other way to tell which version it is.
My other concerns is that the firmware is 1.3.98-tm and would like to update this to v2.0.2.01 . Is this true for all firmware upgrades for the RV082? Can you not restore to the previous firmware? We have the following connection based in the services provided by our local telephone company, the connection arrives to a router Cisco 800 series. From the router, i send it connection to a switch SRW2024 v1.2 (Business series) 24-Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Switch with webview. That switch is useful to send connection via RJ45 for a few of PCs. Then, I send connection to a switch SRW2008P (Business series) 8-port 10/100/1000 Gigabits with vieweb and power over ethernet. The last switch, send the signal via RJ45 to seven WAP2000 (business series) Wireless-G AP with PoE.
That network is running fine, but I've some problems to cover some areas within the building and sometimes the signal is really poor. The cable RJ45 between the PoE switch and each AP is no longer than 50 meters and each one with antennes about 8 or 9 Db.
So, now I've the possibility to change the access point for a power devices.

Upnp has its own issues but it useful for those who don't want to open up a port every time some app might need a specific port but was never meant to be accessible from outside your network, Until now.

When I selected 'Check online for any latest firmware' using the existing firmware, I got a message that that v2.07 (dated 2012-2-21) is available. Until now the router's check has always reported that I have the latest version.
I need to find out from other persons whether or not v2.07 is a real upgrade or is it full of bugs. I tried it once a long time ago and Shareport didn't work at all. Immediately I re-installed v2.00 and I've been pleased with the original shipping version.

Recently he was having connection issues so decided to upgrade firmware and for some reason he did it through the management console (clicked the update to have it download the new file automatically and instantly upgrade instead of doing it manually himself). Told him not to do that anymore. Anyway, it wiped the existing firmware obviously and did not update to the newest. I came over to find it wouldn't connect at all. I was able to get into the reset console (hold reset while powering on, manual set IP on computer to 192.168.0.2 and gateway to 192.168.0.1 an then pointed the browser to 192.168.0.1).This window shows the current firmware as version 1.0.0.1 dated in 2007.I had downloaded the version 3.0 firmware and the most recent version 3.13 and had them on a flash drive, dropped them on the hard drive and attempted to flash first the newest and then the 3. Neither one would take and the router remains down. The page itself never changed after hitting SEND to upload the firmware, the browser displayed a progress bar for "uploading" and hit 100% then just sat saying "waiting for response from 192.168.0.1" until the browser timed out after several minutes.

I have 2 WAP4400N access points, each has a different version of the firmware installed and one has options that the other one does not.I have one access point running
If I visit the Cisco site for firmware updates, I see that only one version of firmware is available for this access point... 1.2.14.I realize that Linksys is not Cisco's main area of business, but if you are going to provide downloads for access points you could at least make sure that you have the latest version available.
Where the list of changes for the latest firmware version can be found? My new DIR-655 has firmware from May 2010, and I see the latest and greatest on the DLINK website is from September. But it doesn't state what the changes are, so I'm not sure if I should upgrade or not.

If rebooted, the device mostly doesn't connect. Switching to PPPoE from PPPoA and vice versa works but i have to do it every time the device is rebooted. Sometimes even that doesn't work. Basically it acts random. DSL connection shows as connected, but the internet interface is mostly down. I was wondering if i can switch back to to old 1.xx.xx.10 version. It never gave me any trouble ever for around 2 years.

Unlike its predecessor this modem / router is bad in many ways and first of them is support for Macintosh products, the connection drops constantly and have to get on and off the wifi to work. The modem restarts and constantly drops the connection status and its predecessor NEVER did that. iPad, iPhone and Macbook can not even keep me surfing for more than one hour, the connection just stops working. Even the cable connection, my Xbox sometimes worth it to maintain a stable connection in Live. The modem has been updated with the latest firmware version (1.0.0.16). View 9 Replies View RelatedLooking into a firmware upgrade. I have a WRT160N. The label on the back, next to Model Number, simply says WRT160N with no version number. I therefore conclude, per info on the Cisco site, that it is a V1 model, not V2 or V3. And yet the Admin web page for the router says firmware version is 3.0.02. I'm pretty confident I have never upgraded firmware on this router, which means this is how it came out of the box long ago. Latest firmware for V1 is 1.02.11; latest firmware for V3 is 3.0.03.
Should I upgrade to 3.0.03? Is there a way to downgrade to 1.02.11? I'm having some minor issues whch may or may not be the ruter's fault, I figure a firmware upgrade (downgrade?) will at least rule out router firmware issues.

One of the router is a V2 and the other is a V4 if that makes any difference.
