We require UPnP (mainly for an in-house built FTP Server app that uses UPnP to dynamically open/close ports for Passive FTP mode) and have found it's implementation in the SA540 is unreliable. Sometimes UPnP works after a reboot, sometimes it doesn't. When it does work after a reboot it will eventually stop working. Going into the web GUI and turning UPnP off and back on always fixes for a while.
Is this a known issue with the SA500 Series routers? We had an RV220W deployed first, but it's UPnP implementation was even more unreliable. That said, it seems that the latest Beta firmware version for the RV220W has fixed the issue. Could it be that the same fix needs to be applied to the SA540?I was planning on opening a cause with the CSBC at some point like I did with the RV220W, but I'd rather not spent the time doing so if the this is a known issue.
We have a Cisco SA540. It has been an extremely reliable UTM router. Other than SSL VPN not working for Mac OSX, we are very pleased with the unit.We have a 3 year contract for IPS, a 3 year contract for Trend Micro Protectlink Web, and a 3 year contract for Small Business Support Service for the unit.Right now we are trying to setup the VIP functionality but it is not going very well. To sum it up in a few words, we cannot get the SA540 to prompt the SSL VPN users to enter the 6-digit access code.
We setup an account at Verisign and requested a trial for VIP. They promptly setup the trial account. Getting everything setup was a breeze. The Verisign website is very well documented. They even had specific instructions for Cisco SA500 Series routers!!! We were very impressed with Verisign's implemenation. We are able to get our SA540 to talk to Verisign (basically, when we activate or deactivate an SSL VPN VIP user in the SA540 web GUI, you can immediately see it enabling or disabling the user on the Verisign website... it is very cool).Unfortunately no matter what we do, we cannot get the SA540 to prompt the SSL VPN user to enter the one time 6-digit code. In this case, we are using Verisign's iPhone app called 'VIP Access'.
I called into the SBSC and talked to a guy. I felt really bad for him. He used WebEx to log into my desktop and I showed, and explained, to him how all of it worked (setting up VIP in the SA540 web GUI, as well as, and the Verisign website). He had no clue about Verisign, VIP, or the two-factor authentacation concept at all. I told him that he needed to escalate my case to the SA500 Series team, but of course he had to try. He was supposed to call me back yesterday or today. I am sure he is dreading calling me back as he probably still has no clue.
How to use the VIP functionality? Or how it works and set it up? We would like to at least get it to work before our 30-day trial period is up. I have a distinct feeling that the functionality used to work, but Cisco hasn't kept up the firmware with all the latest back-end API calls to Verisign or something similar.
I want to build a "hub and spoke" topology for one of my clients. For the "HUB" , I'm planning to use an SA540, with a static public IP provided by a 4Mb SDSL. For the "spokes" (21 at the moment), I'm planning to use RV120. They will be behind a NAT, provided by a "SAGEM LIVEBOX", and a static public IP. The boss will connect to the HUB using Cisco VPN client, or quickVPN, and get access to all the spokes. Some spokes will have to connect to each other, via the HUB. I searched a long time on this forum and reading documentation, but I didn't find at the moment the answer to my question : is this topology suitable with the choosen hardwares ?
We have just purchased a license L-PL-GW-100MAX-3= Protect Link Gateway: Unlimited Web + 100 Max Email Seats,3YR. I found that it does not include IPS license. I cannot find anywhere where I can purchase an IPS license for SA540 gateway. It seems to be available only as a bundled product when purchasing the hardware.
Looking for routing with an SA540 router connecting to corporate VPN.We have an odd configuration that is beyond the scope of what I have configured previously with these devices..I am trying to configure the routing to the additional IP addresses listed for the HQ. The VPN tunnel between the .26.120.x and the .17.0.0 networks is built however it does not appear to be routing. The Cisco administrator at the HQ site says that they have "fully configured the routing" from all the listed IP addresses back through the VPN tunnel. The options I am unsure of for configuration of the SA540 router are: GW - I believe that I use the internal IP address of the 17.26.120.x router. Is this logical since the VPN tunnel. We are using NAT for the firewall internally. The existing 3 172.26.x.x VPN tunnels are live and working and fully routing between themselves.
I hope an easy question, in the WAN profile of our SA540 I have IP Aliases configured for a block of IP addresses we have. The active 2 IP addresses plugged into the actual RoadRunner modem respond fine to ping, the other three I have programmed to the WAN interface are not responding as I would think they should. Have I overlooked something? The "Block IP on WAN Interface" is disabled and pings back fine.
I went through the install procedure outlined in the ProtectLink Gateway install manual and i activated the ProtectLink Web product through Trend Micro (which shows up through their web site as a registered product to me). It still doesn't show up as installed on the SA540 (under Administration/License Management screen). When I try to activate the product again, it shows as "Already registered". Trend has no idea why it won't work. They said Cisco sold the license, so try their support.
Model : TL-WDR3600 Hardware Version : V1 Firmware Version : 3.13.23 Build 120820 Rel.73549n ISP : Cable TV provider
It seems there is a bug with TL-WDR3600. As it can be seen in the following image, the UPnP is off:But my firewall on the computer is reporting flood of packets originating from the router (it's the routers MAC address and IP address):I don't know what ETH type packet is, 0026 might be hex (38 decimal as seen in the raw log). But port 1900 is definitely UPnP.At the router, the wireless switch is off, as well as all other options for sharing etc. This computer is the only one connected to the router. The router has been reset several times.
I have RV042 and E4200 routers . I tried the manual UPnP port forwarding using Rv042 router and was succesful ( by typing 192.168.1.1 in the explorer and logged in using user name and password )
I am using a linux embedded system whose Internal IP ,Internal port are mapped .This system is connected to one of the LAN ports
I want to try auto UPnP port forwarding both for RV042 router and Linksys E4200 routers
After enabling the Upnp option only and logging out ,Can i add a port mapping entry in this router without logging in using a C++ program which runs on linux embedded system .
I'm trying to figure out why recipients of emails from my company show that the mail is coming from our dedicated wan ip instead of the ip alias setup thru the dedicated wan.The external ip address for the sa540, wan1 (no optional interface), is 82.134.79.122.The ip alias is 62.97.213.156 mail. unitec hsubsea. com resolves to 62.97.213.156 for external dns yet it is reporting as the 82.134.79.122 for some recipients. The mail server was never setup with the 82.134.79.122 ip so i don't think this is a dns cache issue. What issue in the SA540 would cause the system to show as mail coming from 82.134.79.122 instead of the ip alias 62.97.213.156?
Is Anyconnect supported for SA540 I have installed in on my android phone however I keep getting error "Unable to process data received from secure gateway" when trying to connect. If anyconnect is supported on SA540 how do I get it working?
I have been unable to get the UPnP function to operate on this router. Box has been checked and saved several times with no results. Ports cannot be opened maunally as well. I have been through every page looking for something that was missed, along with the sparse documentation instructions to no avail.
UPnP and port forwarding worked fine on the residental E3000 router that this replaced. I thought this was an upgrade, but it is seeming like a downgrade now.
I have a Cisco RV016 router, with some ports configured in "Setup --> UPnP". Currently I have problems to configure new ports. I can create the service in "Service Management", but when I add this service to the list, I press "Save" and the router close the session. I need to re-login the router, and it don't save the changes.
However, if I add a service that was already exists before having this problems, the router save the changes (But the router close the session too).
The router has the last version of firmware since the first run.
Today I had to reset the router completely to factory default, if I was adding services to the forwarding or UpNp service management, suddenly it stopped adding the new ones. Now after starting all over it's having the same behaviour, see below my services, normally you can have 30 rules in this list but I cannot add new ones now.
Now I want to insert a new service IMAPS for port 993 so I go to service management. Then press "add to list" see below for result. It is there, then press OK and the screen closes, now if I choose a service from the list, it is not there !!
I have a Cisco881w router connected to my cable-modem. I installed the 881 together with a new cable-modem, so practically 2 things have changed in the network here. Since then, we're experiencing problems with things like downloading large files (like > a few MB), watching youtube movies etc. When I click on a movie on youtube, usually the loading bar stops at approx 5-10%. When hitting refresh a couple of times, suddenly the whole movie is loaded. This is the same when downloading large files.
The main computer that is attached to the linksys works fine and 1 computer linked by cable also works OK but the other 3 computers that have the wireless adapters only work once in a while. At one time they were all working OK but then we had a problem with our vonage system and after that got fixed we are having a lot of problems connecting to the Internet through the adapters. We are using Rogers High Speed and we contacted them but they could not find anything wrong at all. We changed adapters but that did nothing either. We have been struggling with this problem for a few month and don't know what else we can do. As I said sometimes it works and without any warning it disconnects.
a customer is running ASA5505 and they have a cloud server behind site-to-site VPN tunnel. They are complaining that FTP transfers are very slow (3-4MB) and the connection goes down very often. They are transfering large (3-6GB) back-up files and ISP connection is 100MB fiber. The problem is not the speed, but that FTP fails to transfer the backups. I recommended to drop MTU size from 1500 to 1430 from the server side, but it didn't seem to work.
I'm with Virgin Media and they've been pretty hopeless in resolving my problem. That being I quite often get very high ping from about 200ms-1000ms+. I haven't managed to figure out a pattern to when it happens, and it doesn't seem to matter if there's one person on the internet or 5. Sometimes it's fine, while I'm writing this it's about 25ms, but about 10mins ago it was ranging from 500ms to 1000ms. It doesn't really seem to tie in with download speed either, and I don't have the technological know how to try and fix this on my own.
We have a user using a Latitude D820 running Windows XP. It's a slow machine, but it's been working generally fine up until yesterday, when it started having connection issues.
When connected via an ethernet cable, the laptop can connect to everything on our internal network (fileserver, Exchange, internal websites), but anything outside (Google, other websites) is inaccessible (Internet Explorer cannot display this webpage). External sites will then be accessible after a few minutes, then connectivity will be lost in about another 5 - 15 minutes. This process repeats seemingly endlessly. We've replicated this in separate offices, so it's not the wiring. And everything works fine running off of the wireless.
Things we've tried:
Disabling the 1394 Connection Disabling the wireless connection Disabling all non-LAN adapters Restarting the computer Disabling/re-enabling the LAN connection Updating the network card drivers Resetting IE's settings Cleaning out the user's temporary internet files Logging into the machine as a different user (local administrator)
I am with a reliable, well-supported local ISP. I have a brand new router, AND modem, both with the latest firmware/updates installed. I have tried resetting routers and modems, changing channels, moving the the position of my router for better signal. And yet still, inexplicably, my connection continues to be slow and choppy, and extremely unreliable. Greatly varying download speeds, and constant disconnecting. I have run out of things to try, short of calling in a technician. Is there ANYTHING I can try to do?
when I made the purchase for Linksys X3000. However, when I reached home and tried to use it. It auto reboot every 1 or 2 mins of usage. It's not just wireless affected but the whole thing rebooted. Reflash the fimware doesn't makes much different. Did a Standard 30-30-30 reset didn't solve any problem. Logged the case and informed linksys customer service that I'll go down to the retail shop for replacement. Case ID Given. On the 8th Nov, I went back to the retailer shop and proceed to get a replacement. The shop was fine, they allowed for one on one replacement. However problem persist. This time it got worse, when I tried to flash the firmware, it got stuck at 98% for half an hour. So I got it rebooted. Next, It can't boot up and the power status shown Red color.
I contacted the same customer service and inform them about the same issue with the replacement. Next I was given the address of the RMA Office at Funan L5-K3. Problem is, the address and location is wrong, the office became a Kawaii Koochi cosplay dessert shop.On the 10th Nov 2011, Checked the address in the net and some stated it's in Bishan and some stated it's in Funan. I called the Number given by the customer service and the line is dead. Called again, this time its Indian CSO and was told by the customer service that they're not operating after 7pm. But the problem is, it's only 5.30pm. Apparently they thought I was in US or Canada. So they transferred me to another customer service but nobody picked up the call. The fella just told me that hey, they not picking up so there's nothing he could do and that's it.I called a number started with 800-1204280, they told me that the office location is in Funan lvl 6 just beside the huge challenger store. I went down again at about 6.30pm and managed to locate the Service Center, I think it's third party as it cater for other product such as lenovo and other brand. This time the RMA center customer service told me that they doesn't carry any stock for replacement. I wasted so many trip just for one router. It's a very dissappointing service overall and this product is highly unreliable.
I am trying to get my mom's n7110 working correctly in a hurry. The WiFi is painfully slow. It is not the router because I am getting great speed on every other computer. The speed on the n7110 is very unreliable. One second it will be 3mbps or lower, then it will jump to 14mbps.....compared to my inspiron 1545 that gets close to 20mbps according to [URL].
I've tried updating some drivers yesterday, and that worked a little bit because it was WAY worse before that...it would take about a minute to load a picture.any tricks or updates i should look for now?
I have ten E4200 routers deployed in five library branches. In recent months, the E4200's in two branches have occasionally gone into a state where they are not always providing an IP address to both wired and wireless devices. Some devices will get an IP fine and others will not, The problem seems to move and the next day the same device will connect fine and others will not. A reset of the router usually clears the problem but it is becoming more frequent and bothersome. For some reason only two locations are effected.
Some notes:
- Firmware version is 1.0.02 build 13
- When I set devices up with static IP's they work fine, so the problem seems to be related to the DHCP service
- The WAN side of the network tests fine with no issues
- I've had these routers deployed for over a year and this problem just started in the past two months
- Routers and AP's are on different channels to prevent interference
- No nearby WiFi signals appear to be casuing any interference
I have a gaming machine i ran for some time on a wireless connection. This connection had decent speeds but was unreliable and at times very slow (3000 vent ping). So me and my father fished some cat5e cable through some wall from our router to my room. We used some old external jacks verizon gave us and some 6 foot patch cables to connect the computer and router to the jacks. My problem is that once it wall all connected the lan speed has been terribly slow (several times slower than the wireless). Previously I used an ASUS pce-n13 wireless adapter and now the lan is running of the nvidia nforce on my Asus P5n-d motherboard. I am clueless to the problem and I have called Verizon and gotten nowhere.
I installed a new SA540 and configured some NAT rules for my Exchange server. Everything worked fine untill I did a firmware upgrade. Now the NAT rules won't work on my dedicated WAN.On the Optional WAN (load balancing) the NAT rules work fine.
I have tried to establish a VPN-Connection from Ipad (via the Ipad built-in vpn-client) to a SA540.Unfortunately without any results. I get the message "Server is not responding". (A VPN Connection from a normal Software-Client running on W7 works fine).
I was very excited to read about the two factor authentication that Cisco and Verisign offer through the VIP and SA500 series routers. I purchased an SA540 a month and a half ago. I have been on the phone with support of both Cisco and Verisign ever since. It appears no one actually knows how to make the product work. Finally I was told that they have only tested it on an SA520. So I bought an SA520; however, it doesn't work either. How to use the Verisign VIP two factor authentication with either an SA520 or SA540? If so, what is the trick? If not, how is Cisco advertising this product if it doesn't actually work?
We are using the cisco sa540 router and shrew VPN to connect to our buiness network, mostly to connect to the workstations with RDP. Now we wonder if it posible that the connection will disconnect automaticly after an idle time of for example 30 minutes. And if so, how can i configure it?
