I just replaced my older D-Link with a DIR-601. I decided to try the email feature, so I set the option to "On Log Full". Within an hour I had 5 emails. I noticed that they were mostly entries reading "DIR-601 local0.debug udhcpd[18594]: UDHCPD Received a SIGUSR1". The "Debug Information" option isn't checked.

I currently have a 3560G switch running c3560-ipservicesk9-mz.122-58.SE2 I have a spare 3560 V2 switch I want to configure and have ready in case of a failure. This spare switch is running c3560-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE5 My plan was to pull the IOS image from the current switch and upload it to the spare that way I have an "idnetical" switch. From what I have read, there are some feature differences between "ipbase" and "ipservices". However, when I run the show license command on the production switch, I get an unrecongnized command error. So that throws into my confusion as if its running an ipservices image, shouldn't it have a license file?

We want to configure the "mac-address-table synchronize" command on our 6500 series switches to ensure that the CAM tables on our DFCs are in synch with the PFC on the supervisor modules. url...it is recommended that we disable the routed MAC purging with the mac-address-table aging-time 0 routed-mac global configuration command. What is a routed mac entry? Are there any issues with running that mac aging-time command?
We also plan to run this command "mac-address-table aging-time 14400" to keep our ARP and CAM tables on the same aging time to reduce unicast flooding on our network. Can we run this command with the "routed-mac" command above?

We currently have a main network running through a static broadband connecting using a Cisco 1700 ADSL router, everything is working fine locally.
We are looking to rent some space in an office nearby so im going to order another business adsl connection with static IP for this site and i currently have a spare 1800 router. My question is can the cisco routers connect up like a VPN connection so both sites work together and will the connection remain online constantly so from the remote office we can access all our servers from the main network?
Also how does the IP addressing work on 2 sites. The main network uses 10.120.21.x and DHCP is assigned from a cisco router. Does the remote network assign from the same DHCP server or would the remote sites cisco router need to be setup to give out DHCP to local machines. If so what would be the best IP setup to use.

I have the ME3400 deployed in an the following design. 8 100Meg ports connects to Cisco 2955s, and the 1Gig port uplinks to a Cisco 3560. My CDP neighbour table only shows an entries for the uplink Gig port. If I look at the CDP stats in the show cdp Interfaces Fastethernet 0/1,, I see CDP packets being sent every 60, but nothing returning.

On occasion I will have to clear the ARP cache on a 6500 when a customer swapeeds out a firewall or firewall NIC. The ARP cache will show the MAC of the previous device and will not update until either the ARP table refreshes dynamically (currenty at default time) or it is cleared manually.
Sometimes I need to clear it manually and sometimes is is refreshed dynamically when the new device comes up. Inconsistant issue....
Under what circimstances will an ARP entry NOT be refreshed when a firewall or firewall NIC is swapped out.

We have Cisco IP phones behind a 2600 series router:Most of the time when the PBX receives a packet from the phone, the source IP of the packet is set to the public IP of the router (1.2.3.4) as expected. However, once in a while, we get packets (at the PBX) with the source IP set to the private IP of the phone (10.0.0.12).The router is configured by our provider, and they can't give us any explanation for this behaviour. Is it safe to assume that PAT is not configured properly at the router?

I have a Catalyst switch that is redistributing some static routes into OSPF. These are received on a Nexus 7K and appear in the database however the 7K does not add them to its routing table, one of the routes is ignored and not added. I haven't got a clue why this is happening.
The routes on the Catalyst are as follows with ID of 172.30.255.22:
ip route 172.24.59.0 255.255.255.0 10.56.7.46
ip route 192.168.168.0 255.255.255.0 10.56.7.62
on the 7K the database shows:
172.24.59.0 172.30.255.22 1374 0x80001a44 0x1a48 0
192.168.168.0 172.30.255.22 1374 0x80001a45 0x6c5b 0

I have an Acer Aspire one that connected perfectly to the internet until I did a reformat. Now it only works if through a wired connection or if the internet does not have a password protection. I have tried on 2 different locations with secure wireless and both have the same result. Packets are sent but not received. All other devices in either location are able to connect to internet through wired or wireless connections.IP address is at 192.xxx and DHCP is enabled, TCP/IP is set to obtain automatically and I deleted and downloaded the newest drivers from the Acer website twice. I also did a winsock reset and tried to clear the arp cache? One of the issues I am getting when I run the diagnostic is "warn default gateway address could not be resolved via arp". I'm not sure how to resolve that.

scenario: configured IPv6 iBGP link between this switch and a router. the router is announcing 1 (test) route. the switch sees the route properly, but doesn't add it to routing table (the route never gets to be "best path", although it should be).

I have 3 WLC's currently running version 7.0.116 and a WCS on version 7.0.220. I am looking at upgrading the versions and am uncertain as to the compatibility.
1. Upgrade the WCS to 7.0.240, and upgrade the WLC's to 7.3. Resulting in my WCS just not able to manage the "new features" in the latest WLC code?
2. Upgrade the WLC's to 7.3 resulting in WCS completely unable to manage the WLC's? I am aware there is WLC 7.4 code however I've read there is an issue with 1142 AP's rebooting.

Recently I came across a wireless design whcih I ws not able to understand. The design is:
1. Two wireless LAN Controllers 5508, each with 25 AP license. AP load (5APs per Contorller) shared between the WLCs and congured with Backup Controller option.
2. The design has a Data Center Switch 3560x series, on which the two WLCs, Cisco Prime Infrastructure and Cisco MSE were connected. I've attached the design here.
3. The Data Center Switch is configured with DHCP pool for the wireless clients. The IP Address of the Data Center Switch is : 10.xx.xx.2 and Default Gateway is: 10.xx.xx.1
4. On the WLC, the Management Interface is configured with the IP Address: 10.xx.xx.21 for Controller 1 adnd 10.xx.xx.22 for Controller 2. But, their DHCP Server is configured with IP Address: 10.xx.xx.1 but not with 10.xx.xx.2 .
This means, all the DHCP requests are pointing towards the Gateway of the Data Center Switch. Is this the correct configuration?I have seen the Wireless Clients getting the IPs allocated from the DHCP Pool, even though the Management Interface's DHCP server configured with Gateway IP address 10.xx.xx.1 .
The DHCP configuration for the Data Center Switch is:
ip dhcp pool xxxxxx
network 10.164.220.0 255.255.254.0
default-router 10.164.220.1
The Management Interface configuration on the WLC is:
Interface Configuration
Interface Name................................... management
MAC Address...................................... 2c:54:2d:72:b5:40
IP Address....................................... 10.164.220.21
IP Netmask....................................... 255.255.254.0
IP Gateway....................................... 10.164.220.1

-LIC-CT5508-UPG
-AIR-CAS-3KC-K9
-AIR-WIPS-AP-5
-L-NCS-1.0-100-ADD
My understanding is rigister LIC-CT5508-UPG/PAK number on cisco site and get .lic file however what is the use of other PAK where do i register this files with? Moreover , we do have NCS , MSE in place which is centralised devices.

we are observing the no. of conn thru asa 5580 is getting increased and one a fine day it will stop sending/receiving traffics.firewall# show conn count 1900000 in use, 2000008 most used As per the datasheet of this asa, the max conns permissible is 2 million (20 lacs). and the output shows that currently 1900000 connections are there and 2million+8 connections are most used.when i run " show local-host | include host|count/limit ", below are the outputs showing for max connections..
local host: <172.x.x.x>,
TCP flow count/limit = 35857/unlimited
TCP embryonic count to host = 25
UDP flow count/limit = 0/unlimited
local host: <DC01>, TCP flow count/limit = 306/unlimited TCP embryonic count to host = 8 UDP flow count/limit = 736807/unlimited
local host: <DC02>, TCP flow count/limit = 246/unlimited TCP embryonic count to host = 2 UDP flow count/limit = 582010/unlimited
local host: <172.y.y.y>, TCP flow count/limit = 1/unlimited TCP embryonic count to host = 0 UDP flow count/limit = 308412/unlimited
These are the top 4 connections, i wonder should we consider only the tcp flow count or udp as well ?

I have a 1905 series cisco router, when I run "sh int" command it gives me following details -
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 1544 Kbit/sec, DLY 20000 usec,
reliability 254/255, txload 7/255, rxload 151/255
Encapsulation PPP, LCP Open
Stopped: CDPCP
Open: IPCP, loopback not set
[code]....
let me know the significance of txload and rxload. This router is used for MPLS connectivity.Link is working OK..but I'm not able to understand exactly what is the above txload and rxload signify. There is also one peculiar phenomena occuring, when my reliability goes down then rxload also goes down or might be vise versa.

I have two sites with a dedicated, point to point, LAN, site 1 has a Cisco 1700, LAN IP: 192.168.0.101; Site 2 has a Cisco 1800, LAN IP: 192.168.1.101.From site 2 I can ping the router on the other side: 192.168.0.101, but nothing else on that network
From Site 1 I can't ping the other network at all,Both sites ping fine to their respective local interfaces. I also noticed, when trying to ping site 2 from 1, the "WIC ACT/CH" light blinks, otherwise it's off.
Site 1 has it's own web connection through COMCAST, site 2 is set to route through site's 1 connection to go out. The only thing the routers are doing are the actual connection between sites, and in the case of site 2, routing web traffic to 192.168.0.100, which is a Sonicwall on Site 1.
This was all working just fine, for a long time, up until yesterday, when the problem I described started happening.
