View 6 Replies View RelatedThe WS-X68xx series line card has a fabric of 40Gbps and a 16 Port 10GE has a 4:1 oversubscription rate. The WS-X6908-10G has a fabric speed of 80Gbps and has a 1:1 oversubscription rate.
If I mixed the 68xx and 69xx series line card, do I get 80Gbps for the 6900x and 40gbps for the 68xx line card? Or would the 69xx series line card be downgraded to 40Gbps?
From my understanding, the 68xx series has a DFC card and thus the fabric speed operates independently.
We are planning to replace a few line cards in the existing 6509-E chassis. The sup installed is a VS-S720-10G-3C but the line cards are legacy. As a result we are not able to enable the VSS functionality. We are looking to replace the existing line cards with the following:
1. 1 x WS-X6716-10G-3C
2. 1 x WS-X6724-SFP
3. 4 x WS-X6724-GE-TX
What are the requirements in terms of IOS and Roman.
The current IOS is: Cisco IOS Software, s72033_rp Software (s72033_rp-IPSERVICESK9_WAN-M), Version 12.2(33)SXI2a, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2)
And the ROM Version is: ROM: System Bootstrap, Version 12.2(17r)SX7, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Is it possible to use a 10GE interface on a sup720 and an interface from a 671610GE line card and create a port channel. I haven't found specific documentation on CCO stating you can. I have found the QOS queuing is differnet between the sup and line card.

On a number of 6500 chassis it appears that linecard 3 did exist at somepoint, but was removed.Problem is that when issuing the 'show int desc' or 'show ip int brie' the ports for the still appear, and indeed same with 'show run' and 'show conf'.

I've checked and found that E series line cards does not work with Sup V Engine.

I am writing with regard to a high memory utilization that we have on a pair of line card WS-X6748-GE-TX and WS-X6724-SFP for a VSS 6500. I am enclosing a little part of the "show tech"of this VSS 6500 where is possible to see the high memory utilization of the line cards 1/1, 1/2, 2/1, and 2/2, in despite of having some ports in state connected. Does Nexus 7K support Multiple VDCs sharing ports on a single line card. One of our cisco parnter engineers stated that cisco doenst recommend using same line card for multiple VDCs.The second VDC (Non-Default VDC) will be used four our Outside, and DMZ Segment, and to phyiscally segregate our Firewall from our Internal/Inside Core Switch without using a physical DMZ Switch.I know Cisco used the Nexus in this way in their PCI DSS 2.0 Compliance Document. I have a WS-X6748-GE-TX with the WS-F6700-CFC daughter card. Is it possible to replace the WS-F6700-CFC daughter card with a WS-F6K-DFC4-AXL to make this compatible with the SUP-2T? Or, are there differences between the CFC and DFC base modules?

I replace the faulty moldule with the working one but now the new (good) module's first 12 ports stopped working. But when I insert the good card (the replaced one with the faulty) in other chassis it works fine.

The compatablity matrix (see below) states that 67xx cards are supported but it goes on to state DFC3C or DFC3CXL cards are needed. So does this mean that the existing WS-X6748-GE-TX cards have to be upgraded or will they be supported?

we are experiencing packet loss for everything connected in the WS-X6748-GE-TX blade, right now we dont have any production device in that blade due to the packet loss we are experiencing.
this switch was running hybrid before it is now running native ios, however I can't recall if we didn't have that packet loss before. do i need to update a firmware of the card or daughtercard (if this is possible, can't say i've done it before).

I've installed second WS-X6748-SFP linecard on my catalyst 6509 with sup720-3b and after that NAM-2 and IDSM-2 module become inaccessible from management network. I can only login with session slot N proc 1.When I execute #hw-module module 4 reset, modules become accessible.

I have a server with 4 ethernet ports, 1G, they are bonded together, two of them was pluged into cat6500 module WS-X6724-TX. now we have moved the two ports to the replace module WS-X6748-GE-TX.
I have checked server side, the bond configuration are same no changed. what is possible reason replace module will cause link offline? why "sh run all" give the port is shutdown?

View 3 Replies View Relatedwe have a chassis 6513-E and a module WS-X6748-GE-TX, I'd like to know if could I put this module in any slot, since the documentation from Cisco says that any slot from a chassis 6500-E Series can support this module. And then in the documentation of WS-X6748-GE-TX says that this module is not compatible in the slots 1-8 of the 6513 chassis, only from 9th to 13th slots, in those slots from the 6513-E we already have 4x WS-X6748-GE-TX, and we'd like to know if could we put the module in the rest of the slots. The 6513, and 6513-E is kind of confusing.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have 2 x Nortel 8600s (now Avaya) that are 6-7 years old. They have 96 1GB ports on each and we only use about 30 and the CPU average is around 2% and memory is 40% (256mb). Going into 8600s we have 8 x Nortel 5520 48port gig switches.
We want to replace the 8600s at some point and I wondered roughly what Cisco device would possible suit us. We are not after the best high end switches that we will never utilise, but ones that will aid us grow for the next 5 years.
I have problem with the standby supervisor in 6500 vss and need to replace the supervisor. I have follow how-to on the cisco web site url...
But when i boot the new standby sup720 it comes active and both supervisors is rebooting. I wonder if i can do the replacement without rebooting both active and standy supervisor.

There are 4 trunks to other switches which bare in client mode and 2 trunks to 2 ASAs which are in active/standby mode (one in each switch). Anyway what will happen to the VTP clients when I replace the stack as the revision number will be 1 on the server? The clients will ignore any VTP updates from the server ?

The replacement sup i received also doesnt have a CF.From the cisco website it says that the moment I insert the secondary sup into the chassis. it will automatically download the IOS and boot details from the primary to the secondary sup.
