Cisco :: 1841 Can't See Console

Nov 17, 2012

I have a 1841 router and I can ping the f/0 port from my pc. However when i try to console to it, it is not showing up anything but a blinking cursor. I tried all different baud rates on my teraterm but still not luck. I picked the baud rate disconnected and reconnected everytime and still nothing. Then I tried to telnet to it using teraterm but it would just open a console window and then close.

When I power the Router on, the fan and all lights turn on (green) and that's it. Nothing changes, also after minutes of wating. On console i don't get any messages and I already tried every BAUD rate possible. Switched the router off/on again and again. And no, it's obviously not a console problem of my computer, because i tried with different routers.

No Internet After Windows Format

Oct 17, 2012

I've recently performed a full formate on windows, which removed everything (including internet drivers) cause i was having problems with my system drivers, installation worked out well, but now when i tried adapting my internet cable and having my pc recognized my internet connection, it didn't work my laptop can't seem to find any connection even with the cable plugged in, i've tried different cables, ethernet gates but he still doesn't recognize it. I tried to establish a new internet connection, which required a pass and name our internet provider gave us, tested that out and he still can't find or connect to any internet, all with cable having plugged in

does anybody know how to establish my internet connection?

No Internet After Format And Reinstall OS Windows 7?

Feb 5, 2012

After formatting and reinstalling my Windows 7 64-bit OS on my hard drive, it can't connect to the internet. It says the Network Adapter is not found, so I plugged in my old hard drive and went on the internet to download the proper driver install for my network adapter, but there's one problem.I don't have an extra sata cable to connect them both at the same time so I can transfer the driver software from one hard drive to the other, and since the internet isn't working on the one I need to install the driver on, uploading it to a website obviously isn't an option.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5520 - Chassis Serial Number Not In Right Format

Oct 24, 2011

I have a faulty ASA5520 and I am not sure if I have a SMART net contract for it or not (I manage over 200+ ASAs). The problem is that the Serial Number sticker that is normally on the back of the ASA is missing. The ASA5520 is also faulty and doesn't power on so I cannot boot it up and run 'show ver' or similar. If I open the chassis there appears to be other Serial numbers on the Power Supply, and Motherboard etc but they do not seem to be the correct Chassis serial number i.e not in the right format, and if I put them into the Trade tool I get no results.

There must be another record of the serial numbers besides 1x sticker to the rear of the chassis that can fall off? How I can get the chassis serial when the device isn't booting. or (Cisco) is there a way to find the chassis serial number from the power or motherboard serial?

D-Link DIR-655 :: Router Configuration File Format Difference Between Rev A And Rev B

Mar 31, 2011

I've owned the Rev A DIR-655 for years and have loved it, but recently it started acting up. I have a complicated setup saved as a gateway settings file (.gws).  I decided to purchase a new DIR-655 for the ease of importing my settings without having to manually setup again, however, much to my dismay, the new file format for the configuration settings on the Rev B is not .gws but rather .bin.  The .gws file will not import. I tried changing the file extension to .bin with hopes it might import but no luck. I also found the utility which decrypts the .gws file into .xml and used those values to manually re-enter the settings into the Rev B router, but my port forwarding is not working the same.  I was wondering if there is any utility to convert the .gws file to the .bin file in order to import into the Rev B router, or if not, can I still purchase the Rev A model somewhere. The online shops I've checked do not list the hardware version.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Catalyst 2960S Format Flash Failure?

Jan 3, 2013

I recently tried to manually format the flash on a model WS-2960S-48TS-L switch running IOS version 15.0(2)SE.  While executing the operation I got the following error - mifs[8]: Failed to create superblock  %Error formatting flash (I/O error). As a result the flash is no longer accessible by the switch.  I spoke with Cisco and they indicated that a switch reload would remount the flash and make it accessable again but the .bin file would need to be reloaded using the xModem recovery procedure (what a pain). The next IOS version 15.0(2)SE1 will supposedly fix this bug but it has not been released yet.  In the meantime if you are running 15.0(2)SE you may want to hold off performing a "format flash:" function on a 2960S.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Catalyst 3550 / IOS Naming Format Conversion

Jun 11, 2012

correlates the older IOS format naming compared with the newer? I have an older catalyst 3550 that might need an IOS upgrade due to us starting to implement dot1x. The reason that I say this is that some of the commands in the dot1x config guide, such as aaa accounting dot1x, are not valid on this platform. The current IOS is c3550-i5q3l2-mz.121-8.EA1c but the newer format is the ipbase, ipservices, etc. format. There is a newer ios but how do I convert from one to the other? I think I need to research the IOS to see if the new commands are there as well as I want to make sure there are no gotchas from a hardware standpoint if I upgrade.

Cisco Firewall :: 5505 - Bootnet Filter No Longer Functions After Disk Format

Jul 2, 2011

I was having major issues with a 5505 (too long a discussion to go into here) so I formatted the disk and uploaded fresh binaries and recreated my configuration. I noticed the licenses were preserved. I also noticed there were several fsck records after the format that were reclaiming lost chains. I suspect the flash on this ASA is going bad, since everytime it boots it says "reading from flash ..!!" like it cannot even read flash successfully. When I purchased this one new, it also had several fsck records being brand new. I'm going to open a case on these flash issues/questions.

Anyway, after all of the above, the only thing that is not working is the botnet filter. [code]
