Cisco WAN :: Cache Engine 510 - Replacing Hard Drive

Jul 12, 2011

I have a 510a Cache engine and the IDE hard drive failed.  I installed a new blank hard drive, but I can't get it to boot off of the new hard drive. Currently,  I moved the original to Disk 1.  I switched the boot up disk to disk 1.  I was then able to setup the new hard drive (in disk 0).  Everything is functioning, but I don't want to keep the dead hard drive in there.  How do I setup a boot sector on the new hard drive?

Turning External Hard Drive Into A Cloud Drive?

Mar 19, 2012

I'm currently in college, and do most things with my laptop, and I have wifi just about everywhere. It has a generous 500 GB of storage, but I'd like to store non-essential files on, an external hard drive. However, lugging around 3 TB of storage isn't exactly feasible, and with my experience with my current 1.5 TB portable drive, me running around everywhere with it bouncing in my bag is just going to abuse it until it stops functioning (which it has...)[URL]

New Router Can't Find Remote Hard Drive?

Everything worked fine before I replaced the router. The only thing I have on my network is my HP laptop, vonage box and hard drive. Windows 7, Explorer 9.Router: 192.168.0.1 HD: 192.168.1.150I've tried "tracert" and only get back the router address. I've tried connecting directly from my laptop to the HD and tried the ip instead of the 'name'. I replaced the cables, rebooted the laptop, router and hard drive. I also went through the whole "add devices" on "devices and printers" and "search network for devices"

Unable To Set A Hard Drive Partition To Be Shared?

Feb 18, 2013

Two physical drives. Drive 0 has two partitions C and D. C is operating system (XP Pro) and D is data only. Drive 1 has one partition F and is used for internal backup. Drive F can be set to be shared. Partition D on Drive 0 will not accept sharing. It reverts back to the $D admin share after setting up a new share. The icon (hand) that indicates shared drive does not appear either. I assume there is a registry setting that has drive 1 blocked, but am unable to find it.

Security / Firewalls :: Norton Hard Drive Wipe?

Oct 23, 2012

With Norton 360 Antivirus, is there a feature that allows you to make it clear your hard drive of all unnecessary files that are slowing down the CPU? (similar to what the technicians for dell do when you call, they delete everything unnecessary) I've done the temporary file removal and it didn't do much, along with the full system scan. If Norton can't do this, is there any way to make a software go through the hard drive and delete all the crap?

Connect USB External Hard Drive And USB Printer To Network?

Jan 25, 2011

I have a Seagate 1TB USB External Hard Drive that I want to share on my wireless home network, and I'm having difficulty finding a cheap, reliable solution. I would also, ideally, like to connect a USB printer for similar sharing.I have two XP PC's on the network, and will probably be getting a Windows 7 machine. The router is the generic one supplied by my ISP.

1. Connect both hard drive and printer to always-on PC that shares with Windows. This would work but I'm not keen on the 'always on'

2. Use a Pogoplug to connect the hard drive and printer to the router Again, a good solution and always-on, but a little pricey - ?60-100?
