I'm trying to connect my router SR520 internal Ethernet port to my ESW520 24 port switch. When I physically connect the cable the port on the switch suddenly drops.

View 4 Replies View Relatedi have a demroom set up which includes a sr520 as the edge router connecting to the ISP and i have a uc 560 connected to that which is working fine i also have a new business edition 3000 and a 800 series router which im looking to connect to the sr 520 for access to the ISP as the 800 series doesn't have a ADSL line on it .i have given the 800 series routers wan interface a static address of 192.168.75.14 wich is from the address range in the sr520s default vlan and excluded the address from the DHCP pool. now from the ccp express on the 800 s i can ping the wan port of the 800 s and the default vlan/gateway of the sr520 and the wan ip of the sr520 but no further also once i try pinging it from the cmd on windows i cant ping any further that the wan interface on the 800 s .

I manage small network but I just found out that I have some issues regards to speed.So what's the problemAs a main router/fw we have Fortigate 100A which then goes to a core switch SRW2016.This switch then handles two VLANS.The problem is that I have ports 5 assigned to VLAN 100 and port 6 to VLAN 101. They relate to DMZ1 (VLAN100) or internal (VLAN101).When I connect small unmanageable switch to port 5 I get very low performance (20kB/s internet, 2-3MB/s LAN) however when I plug in PC directly, I'm getting full speed.Port 6 with VLAN101 has the same unamangeable switch but no issues.Obviously you're thinking it's the switch - well I've tried replacing it allready. It's not the switch.Both ports have the same configuration (relating to their VLAN) but resolving it goes beyond my knowledge

The problem I have is that we have issues connecting fibre to the HP switch, so I have decided to attached a CAT 5 to Fibre convertor at this end and another to the cisco switch.
My question you can not connect a HP switch to a Cisco switch, is this true or do I just need to confirgure something on the ports.
I have a headquarters office that has recently bought a new voice system.
We have a site to site connection from the head office to 3 remote offices. All have ASA5505 firewall.
I have created 2 interface on the ASA5505: 1: inside with vlan1 and switch port port12: voice with vlan100 and switch port port2
Port1 on the asa goes to port 23 on the switch for vlan data
Port2 on the asa goes to port 24 on the switch for vlan voice
Port23 is member of vlan1 data
I added vlan100 to port 24 but by default vlan1 is member and i can't remove it. Its greyed out
All ports on the switch are member of vlan1 and vlan 100 because the port on the switch goes to the phone and from the phone there is a port that goes to the PC. Phones are getting addresses, and PC as well.
I am having a kind of loop because there is 2 exit for vlan1 (port 23 and 24) and that's slowing down my system and sometime i loose the connectivity to my servers.
When i do a show arp on my asa, i do see that some IP are beeing learned on the wrong interface. some PC addresses 192... are on the voice and some voice IP 10.10... are on the inside.
I am pretty sure that the problem comes from my switch configuration.
I'm on a Mac connecting to a Cisco ASA 5510 with AnyConnect VPN client.
The connection is established and it works for 15-30 seconds, then the connection drops. AnyConnect will reconnect, and then it works fine.
I noticed in the logs that it reconnects with a smaller packet size.
Basically my sister, who lives in a flat attached to the side of my parents' house, wanted me to find a solution for her to get internet, as there is no signal from my parents' wireless down in the flat.Originally I tried an old belkin wireless range extender I had lying around but even then the signal was extremely weak and the connection was too slow.So, I decided I would get some powerline adapters. But, of course, my sister needs wireless, so I figured I would use the powerlines to connect a second wireless router to the existing one.And so begin my real problems. The thing is, it actually worked fine at first. I set up a new wireless network, and had the ethernet from the powerline running in to the WAN port of the second router. But, every few minutes or so the connection would just die suddenly and take a while to come back (the connection was still there, but the browser just gave DNS errors etc).So I did some googling and fount a lot of people saying that I had to A) plug it into one of the LAN ports, not WAN, and B) disable DHCP on the second router.However when I do this I simply cant load anything at all. I'm thinking maybe there's some additional setup regarding static IPs or something that I need to do when I disable DHCP?

If true, can I return this switch for a replacement? The switch has firmware version 2.1 and the serial number is really hard to make out on the bottom of the unit. The cisco that is being devlivere is coming with a 48 port switch and 24 port fibre switch. Could I change any of those ports into a router port and configure IP addresses on those?
The supervisor card is a ws-sup-720-3b the 48 port switch is a ws-x6748-ge-tx the 24 port fibre switch is ws-x6724-sfp
I have a pair of 5505's in transparent mode and connected them to C2960S. The inside interface (which is VLAN5 on the switchport) keeps dropping, going in to error state. There is no log reference in the switch and the interface shows as UP. The standby ASA has no problem, both interfaces on the switch is up. As soon as I failover the units over, the active node inside interfaces drops.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm fairly new to Cisco products am in the process of developing my network knowledge on a deeper level. I have a 3825 with a HWIC-4ESW and I'm struggling to fully understand how the two "see" each other. I've setup a V LAN with a layer 3 address on the HWIC and added the switch ports to it. This seemed to allow devices connected to the switch ports to talk to the built-in router ports. I thought this was all making sense until i applied an access-list to the router port. It's a simple ACL i'm just using for testing and the only thing it does is blocks telnet from anywhere. I know the ACL is setup properly because if I connect a device directly to the router port i cannot telnet to the port. However, if i connect a device to one of the switch ports, i am able to telnet to the router port successfully.
It seems that I'm missing something with how traffic flows from the switch port to the router ports and how the two "see" each other.
Lately I've noticed some strange behavior on some of the switch ports. When I go through the logs my SGE2000/2010 stack, I see that some of the ports randomly lose their connection:

I'm having trouble locating the source of the problem. The devices connected to the port are servers and desktops. This happens frequently throughout the day, but not always on the same ports. What could cause the random drops?

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I have a netgear wireless router that my computer uses to access internet, then i have ethernet cable running from that netgear into my room to a linksys befsr41 router that I disabled DHCP to use as a switch. I have the ethernet cable going into the 4th slot and my xbox going into the 1st. I got it working however...and before i say this let me tell you, before introducing the linksys as the switch everything was working fine, both wireless to my computer and wired into my xbox straight from the Netgear. Ok back to my issue, while watching netflix on my xbox every 10 minutes or so i will get disconnected from the network on both my computer [wireless to netgear] and xbox wired to netgear through linksys. I was wondering if this could maybe be some kind of IP Address issue.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got a Cisco 2960G 24-port gigabit switch so that our HP servers can have a Gigabit connection to the network. I moved 2 servers to it (HP Proliant DL380's) but they don't actually seem to be able to achieve even close to 1000Gbps. I ran same some LAN bandwidth tests and it was showing only around 200-300 Mbps between all of them. I also ran a network stress test utility, LAN Tornado, and it was showing packet loss as high as 60% when on gigabit, and only .07% when on 100Mbps.
-Both the NIC's and the switch ports are set to 1000/Full
-Currently using Cat5e cabling no more than 25Ft in length (I know Cat6 would be better but Cat5e is supposed to support Gigabit)
-All servers are on the same VLAN
Here are the port statistics when running just a stress test @ 10Mbps that had a 45% packet loss. What's odd though is when I set the servers and switches to 100Mbps, I get less than 1% packet loss.

We have the port on the switch set like this:

switchport port-security aging type inactivity
In case a device connected to the port is inactive for more than 2 minues ( aging time ) the first frame/packet the device generates arrives to the port on the switch, but the switch does not forward it to the appropriate port ( discards it or whatever ).
So far I tested on

When we remove port security from the port, it works perfectly fine, as expected.
It seems this is not HW or IOS version related. It seems it is not a stack synchronization issue, it does not matter if a device is connected to the first or other stack member. I tested on C3560 too, here there are no problems, so seems it is 3750 related.
In our environment we have some HP chassis, and with them there are blade switches. Lately, we've been seeing some drops on few servers connected on the blade switch ports. The switch model is WS-CBS3120X-S. And below is the tx drop for two interfaces ( where the servers are connected to).

I have a SR520 where WAN configured as PPPoE with Dyndns address. I have done all the configuration through the CCA, so far everything is working fine. But now i want to configure SSL VPN, but I have getting an error message : SSL VPN cannot be configured, please configure wan interface using a static IP address. Is there any way that I can configure the ssl vpn through a dyndns address?

question 1: I need that every group has communication with its own set of computers but no communication with the computers on the other segments.If I connect the computers to any port on the switch, can they communicate within its own groups?
