View 2 RepliesHow many routed ethernet ports do they support when using HWIC-1FE and HWIC-2FE modules? On the Cisco site for the two interface modules and in the corrseponding PDF of supported interfaces for 29xx routers a maximum number of 2 2port modules(HWIC-2FE) and 2 1port modules(HWIC-2FE) is written.Does this mean, that I can put in 4 L3 HWIC modules into one Cisco 2921 router by combining these two HWIC modules resulting in a total number of 7 interfaces for this router?

View 1 Replies View RelatedBackground: currently have a WRT320N, thinking of upgrading to an EA4500 assuming ONE feature has been improved: Port Forwarding.
Scenario: Currently I have a WRT320N router, and while it "does everything we need" it has one limitation that is now getting in the way: limitation on number of forwardable ports. In the port forwarding panel, it has 15 total rows: the first five rows can be enabled for specificaly named services (SMTP, FTP, etc). The last 10 rows are fully customizable in that we can set the name, ports and protocol.
The problem is that of the 13 total ports I currently need to forward, only ONE of them is listed in that fixed list. So, sadly, I can only use one of those first five rows. I've now filled the remaining ten custom rows, and still have need for two additional ports (for now, may need more down the road).
Trying to get creative, I figured maybe I could just spill over to the Port Range Forwarding page and add a row or two there. The only problem: it's buggy. I've found that if the Single Port Forwarding list is filled, then the Port Forwarding Range entries don't work properly. For example, if I wanted ports 12345 and 12346 forwarded to 192.168.1.5, they work fine with two single port forwarding entries. However, if I delete those, add two other port lines I need forwarded (the single list being full again), and add a port forwarding range 12345..12346, they don't work properly, ports just are closed. Only the singles work, the ranges don't.
Question: Has the EA4500 resolved this issue and allow for either more lines (i.e. 20 customizable entries instead of 10), or, better, does it just have an [Add Entry] button to allow for additional rows to be created? In today's day and age, where one single device (such as an Xbox) can take four rows, a 10-row limit is pretty sparse. Comparing it to some competitors, for example the D-Link DIR-825 (aging, but still great) allows you to add as many as you want.
I realize "expensive" firewalls like SonicWall's have virtually unlimited customization, but I don't need many of the additional features and don't want to spend $350 on a "high-end" firewall to solve the problem of needing two more ports open.

I actually starting to work on a cisco project. I'm a beginner on networking and cisco technologie.
For my project we use a router 2921.
We got two network:
- Network A: 192.198.0.X / 255.255.255.0 / Gateway 192.198.0.1
- Network B: 162.168.0.X / 255.255.0.0 / Gateway 162.168.0.1
Each network use switch, Switch A (connecting to network A) is connected to interface G0/0. And Switch B (connecting to network B) is connected to interface G0/1.
Router well configured as:
- G0/0: ip address 192.198.0.1 255.255.255.0 (network A)
- G0/1: ip address 162.168.0.1 255.255.0.0 (network B)
Every think working fine.
The problem is with this one, we need to connect a computer on G0/2. This computer is configure as network A (192.198.0.10 / 255.255.255.0 and same gateway).I can't configure G0/2 as 192.198.0.1 255.255.255.0 (network A), cause G0/0 use this adresse.I can't put this computer on the switch A, my only physical possibilité is to connect him on G0/2.We just need to use interface G0/0 and G0/2 as a switch on the router with the same gateway (192.198.0.1)
How can i connect this computeur? How can i configure two interfaces on the same network and same gateway?
We have just installed our first 2951 router, and were suprised to see in our Netflow collector that Tunnel interfaces appeared even though we did not configure any, I have seen other posts talking about PIM tunnel when using Multicast, but we dont use multicast and the tunnel is GRE questions are, where do these interfaces come from? how do they pick up an IP address? can we shut them down? IOS is 150-1.M4 loopback interface ip address is 172.16.224.238 ( tunnel source) see output from sh int below

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe are having random issues of users not being able to connect to our wireless network consistently. The users will have successfully accessed the network previously but then will have difficulty associating to the network. After a period of time, the association appears successful again. My first thoughts were that there was a restriction on the number of clients that could associate to a given AP at any one time. This is the equipment we have:1x Cisco Wireless Control Server (WCS) 6.0.181.04x Cisco 5508 Wireless LAN Controllers 6.0.196.060x Aironet 1142N Lightweight Access Points (LAP) Is there a hard or recommended maximum number of clients per LAP? If so, where is this defined? From what I have read on these forums, Cisco apparently recommends about 25 clients per AP but I can not find any official documentation to support this. When I go to WCS Home > General > Top APs by Client Count, the top AP reports 20 clients. However, if I click on the AP Name and go to the Current Associated Clients tab, it is only listing 8 clients - why is this?

Uncheck the box if you have another DHCP server on the network or you want to configure static IP addresses for your network devices. Is this accurate? Or will the RV042 allow more than 50 devices?

I have a FWSM cluster that I exceeded the maximum number of static nat entries on. i migrated the connectivity off to a pair of PIX 535's that seem to be handling the adderess translation needs. however the number of NAT entries being required is increasing and being the PIX series wal EOL'd several years back..I need to replace them.. The static 1-1 nat entries cannot be summarized into network as the hosts that are being nat'd are scattered all over various micro subnets in the all 3 rfc1918 ipv4 address ranges and they are being manged directly by snmp and SNMP-trap and other services that prohibit the use of many-to-one nat. Is there a mknown maximum number of static 1-1 nat entries that can be defined on the ASA 5515-x, 5525=x and higher ASA firewalls? Say I wanted to be able to grow to 2500 or more static 1-1 nat entries. I am currently running 2010 1-1 static host nats currently.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat are the maximum number of AE2500 wireless adapters can be installed on a PC running Windows XP SP3 using the windows wireless zero configuration? Recently I'm working on a program that needs multiple seperate wireless connections on a Windows XP SP3 PC. Each wireless adaptor is given a static IP address to respond to traffic at some specific ports. I can install four AE2500 adaptors without problem, but it disconnects the first AE2500 device when I plug in the fifth AE2500 adapter. I've tried on different windows XP machines. They all get the same problem. I wonder if it is a limitation in the AE2500 driver.BTW I've also tried to install an Valet AM10 adaptor as the fifth adapter, it seems ok. Yet installing more AM10 adapters beyond the fifth (4 AE2500 + 1 AM10) requires some luck. It may disconnect the other AM10 devices when I plug in another AM10 adapter.
