Cisco Wireless :: 1310 / Unable To Ping Across Bridge?
Jun 17, 2012
I have installed 2 Cisco 1310's, connecting two buildings that are about 1000 yards apart. One access point is connected to an existing 3560 24 port switch, the other access point has a new 3560 24 port switch connected to it. Also installed 4 1240 access point in the newly connected building to the new switch. Issue is my router and existing switches can not ping any devices on the other side of the bridge. They can ping both access points that make the bridge. I consoled the new switch and could ping the existing switches and router, after doing that the other switches and router are now able to ping the new switch. Now my main issue is I have a user using a 7921 phone connected to one of the new 1242's, when he makes a call to a person in the first building they can hear him, however he can not hear them. Our call manager is in another state were I am located. I can call him and vise versa, and we can hear each other. I have went over my configs server times, and doubled check my IOS versions to make sure they are up to date. I will be glad to provide configs upon request.

Is it possible to make a bridge using a 1242 and a 1310? I have been able to get them to associate together and it appears it will function as a bridge. I have the 12(4) 253 JA IOS for both devices. I would like to use the g antenna on the 1242 for the bridge and the a antenna for wireless clients. The configuration on the web management appears to support bridge root and non root for both devices.

In bridged network environment. We have a pair of Cisco 1310 bridges configued betweeen 2 buildings the config on each is simple one as a root bridge the other as non root no spanning tree is running and source route learning is turned off. We had both on in the past. One side of the network has a link out to the internet. About 3 -4 times a day the IP address on the default gateway becomes unreachable i.e cant be pinged. Only a reboot of one or other of the bridges corrects the issue. This happens only during the day when the netwrok is in use. When this happens everything inside the network works fine and everybody can see everybody else. The ISP can see intot eh network and can ping our devices but we cannot see out of the network.

The RG-59 coax cables that come with the 1310 bridge are only 1 foot long. where I could get longer cables as the power injector is quite a distance away because there are no close power sockets. Instead of installing new power sockets near to the bridge, we wanted to simply run longer coax cables.

I have a pair of Aironet 1310's I am needing to bridge. I have used the CLI to configure the BVI1 with the ip address and verified it. I then tried to access the GUI to configure the device via Internet Explorer and it would not provide access. I read that it had to be older versions of IE but my OS will not support older versions. I then downloaded Netsace Navigator 7.01 as indicated, but still did not get access.
Then I thought maybe if I can access the GUIvia the IPSU tool but I have Googled the Cisco IPSU and cannot find a downloadable link.

I am trying to setup ACE in bridge mode. Network topology is as follows:
1. ACE Gi 1/2 (client-side vlan) is connected to 3750 (vlan 40)
2. ACE Gi 1/3 (server-side vlan) is connected to 3750 (vlan 50)
3. Two real servers are connected to 3750 (vlan 50)
4. One client device (linux box) is connected to 3750 (vlan 40)
I am not using admin context. I have created a new one for user. I am unable to ping VIP (10.10.50.15) either from client linux box or from within ACE.

Once it is deassossiated, ihave to manually restart the bridges. How can avoid manual restarting so it would automatically associate after some time.

I was looking at a Wireshark capture off my Windows XP box, and I noticed a rather curious behavior. Every 1-2 seconds, the machine sends a ping request to my Linksys WET610N wireless network bridge, which the Windows box connects to the Internet through.

I currently have 2 e4200 wireless routers. The first router is connected to 3 devices via ethernet, and the 4th port is connected to my other e4200v2 which is set as bridge mode. The main router is at one end of the house, the second bridge mode router is at the other end.My wireless devices are connected to the main e4200v2, along with all the wired clients.
When wirelessly connected to the 2nd e4200 (the bridged one) I cannot connect to or ping any wireless clients that are connected to the main router. (For example, in my bedroom I am connected with my computer to the 2nd bridged router, and I am trying to ping my other computer that is wireless connected to the main router. I am unable to ping to this computer. When I am conected wirelessIy to the mian router, than I am able to ping the other wireless computer on the same router. Note:I am able to access any hard wired devices to the main router, regardless of which router I am connected to. The issue only appears to be when trying to connect to a wireless device that is connected to a different router than the device I am connecting from. Both routers are setup on the same subnet mask with firmware Ver.2.1.39.145204

I've already done plenty of web search and gone through various forums. That's how I've gained knowledge of setting up wireless bridge. But for some unknown reasons I haven't been able to successfully pull it off. Let me explain.I have an ISP provided modem+wifi device. Its called PTCL Modem. I normally connect my laptop and other devices through its wifi. I need to extend the signals around my workplace. So I have bought a TP-Link wifi router (TL-WR740N). Both these devices support wireless bridging according to their admin settings. I'll go pic-by-pic to explain what steps I performed.Pic1: PTCL Modem wireless bridging options. It shows two options for AP Mode: Access Point and Wireless Bridge. And it shows three options for Bridge Restrict.
Pic2: TP-Link router home page Pic2a: I first change the TP-Link's IP Address, because the PTCL Modem's wireless is also using the same IP address (192.168.1.1) so the current address will conflict with it. I change the router's IP address to 192.168.2.1. It goes for a restart.Pic3: Next I turn off the DHCP Server, as suggested by various blogs and forums. Router goes for another reboot after saving this setting.Pic4: Now I go to Wireless Settings page and set Enable WDS on. It shows me bridging options.Pic5.
I click the Survey button and it shows me a list of wireless devices in its range along with their BSSID and Channel number. I select my PTCL Modem access point which is on Channel 6. My PTCL Modem's wireless is set to WPA2-PSK security with the password "********". I also set the Channel on my TP-Link router from Auto to 6, to come in line with PTCL Modem's wireless. Clicking Save makes router goes for another reboot.

I am running a DAP-1522 (v1.21) in Bridge mode with a DIR-615 (1.00VG). I have configured the DAP-1522 to access the WiFi network and can see it connects correctly. I have a PC connected to the DAP-1522. Most of the time I can ping the DAP-1522 from the PC but cannot ping the DIR-615. Occasionally when I reboot everything again I can ping the DIR-615 and get full internet access but this usually only lasts a minute or so then it drops. After that I can only ping the DAP-1522. The DAP-1522 always says the Status is "connected" though.
The IP addresses are as follows:
DIR-615: 192.168.0.1
DAP-1522: 192.168.0.50 (static)
PC: 192.168.0.55 (static)

I have a DLink wireless bridge connected to the wireless WRV210 router. All devices connected to DLink can access internet/email fine and can ping the WRV210, however, they can not ping any device connected to the WRV210 router, nor can any device on the WRV210 ping devices on the DLink writeless bridge. All devices are on the same subnet, 192,168.100.X with mask 255.255.255.0. All devices get their address from the WRV210.

Both my DIR-655 and DIR-815, when setup as wireless access points, are unable to ping external IP addresses and thus cannot contact the dlink ntp servers. I've disabled UPnP, disabled DHCP, changed the LAN IP address to an available address on the network. The wireless works, devices are getting an IP from the network DHCP server and can surf the internet. But the DLink router itself cannot ping any external IP addresses. I have an 871 set up at home with 2 VLANs, both of these vlans present a strange behavior where an user is unable to ping/contact another user on the same subnet, however if users are on different subnet it seems to work [code]
According to the troubleshooting that I have done, the issue seems to be with the broadcast traffic, ARP request/reply do not reach another host on the same subnet (wireless to wireless or wired to wireless) however if the wireless device iniciates the connection to wired, it works fine.
I have tried to enable proxy arp on the different VLANs and BVI and different combinations but no sucess in order to get traffic across 2 wireless devices on the same subnet or a connection that is iniciated for a wired client to a wireless one.
I tried enabling and disabling dot11 arp-cache but no luck.

We are in the process of evaluating Cisco wireless controllers and AP. We have 3602 APs and 2504 controllers right now. We have multiple branch offices connected to the main office through layer 3 and they all have different vtp domains and vlans. I am trying to deploy APs at the branch offices and connect them back to the controller and the central site. I created a sub interface and ssid with one of the vlans at the branch office on the controller and was able to get the AP to join the controller through DNS. However, a client at the branch office connected to the AP was unable to ping anything at the branch and central sites. Any documentations on how to deploy such a setup where the controller is at the central site and AP at the branch office going through multiple routers in between?
