Cisco Wireless :: WLAN Controller For AIR-LAP1142N-A-K9
Sep 25, 2012
I'm new to wireless and I have 7 Cisco 1142N (AIR-LAP1142N-A-K9) APs. But The thing is I have to buy a WLAN controller for these APs. I checked on internet and I found the 2500 series Controllers are compatible with Cisco 1142N (AIR-LAP1142N-A-K9) APs. But I would like to know How can I find the exact supporting version of controller for Cisco Access points?
We have a set up which includes several air-lap1134n-e-k9 access points. We're having problems with a specific laptop connecting to the WLAN which is accessible via the AP. We can see numerous different SSIDs available and when we connect to either of the two we have set up it says it is unable to connect. One of the connections, let's call it Internet, has Layer 3 security set up. The other connection, Web, has Layer 2 security set up. The laptop can connect to neither. It can, however, connect to other wifi in the vacinity including a wifi hotspot we set up on an Android phone.
The laptop has an Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030 network adapter with current drivers. The WLAN's we've set up, Internet and Web, are both enabled for 802.11n.
We have a strange problem. We have a WCS v.7.0.172 that controls our two WLC v.7.0.116 and we have also two "Anchor Controller" WLC v.7.0.116 for Guest Access.
We use the LAP1142N and every AP has two SSID's. One for internal data traffic and the other one for the guests.
Now the problem is, that even if we have internal and external user on the same AP, the guest users gets disconnected after a few time. Sometimes after 20 minutes, sometimes after 90 minutes...but the user is still working. It's really irregular.
Got a bit of a quandary with joining new access points to our 5500 series W LAN Controller. It looks like the LAP is initially able to see the W LAN controller, but after that things go sideways. The LAP is pulling a valid IP address from DHCP, and the W LAN Controller is able to ping it.
In the controller's AP Join Statistics we get this: Last AP Message Decryption Failure Last AP Connection Failure -Timed out while waiting for ECHO repsonse from the AP Last AP Disconnect Reason [code]...
1) AP was originally running a standalone image. I booted it into a so-called ROMMON or AP mode (ESC is the right key to make it boot into this mode).
I found a recovery image in its flash - c1140-rcvk9w8-mx. I made the AP boot from it by using "set" command and I see that it start booting using this recovery image. Here goes the question. Do all AP settings matter ? E.g. when I run "set" command from AP I see the following:
ap: set ?= DEFAULT_ROUTER=10.0.0.1 Default_router=10.9.99.1 ENABLE_BREAK=yes
I have a Cisco Wlan Controller 2504 with 1042N AP (3-nos) every thing was working fine from past 2 months. Now i am getting a issue with clients which are connected to the wireless AP, they are not able to get an dhcp IP address from the 2960 Switch (DHCP Server). The clients are getting IP address as 0.0.0.0. [code]
Our company has 8 4404-100 Cisco wireless controllers and each WLC has 8 W LANs configured. They are all working fine. However, the WLAN ID sequence is not consistent. I'm wondering if it's possible to change the WLAN ID on these WLCs without (or slightly) impacting the users. I don't want to re-configure all the WLAN profiles.
We’ve recently installed a 5508 w LAN controller for my organization wireless network and each time devices connect to this wireless network they receive an ip conflict error. All devices conflict with the ip address of IP address 0.0.0.0 with mac address 00-00-00-00-00-00.
All devices event viewer has this TCP error: “The system detected an address conflict for IP address 0.0.0.0 with the system having network hardware address 00-00-00-00-00-00. Network operations on this system may be disrupted as a result.” We previously experienced the same ip conflict with 12000 w LAN network that he had used as proof of concept.
what seems to be a common issue/query regarding getting AppleTV to work via the Wireless Lan Controller. We are running WCS 7.0.172.0, our WISM controllers are on software version 7.0.116.0 and our APs are a mixture of 1140 and 1142s with both 11a/n and 11b/g enabled.
What we are finding is that we are able to stream to the AppleTV box when connected to the LAN and both devices are on the same subnet.however, as soon as we go onto the WLAN ( both devices on the same subnet ) , the end device can no longer see the AppleTV box to stream too.
I have Cisco 5508 Wlan Controller Software version 7.2.103.0 and I have Cisco AIR-CAP3602I-E-K9 Lightweight Access Points network and its working fine now I want to configure the Repeater in this network. Because there is one area we cannot layout the cable. How to add the repeater and how to configure the repeater in wlan controller network.
Do i need the change the software of Wlan Controller to support Mesh Network or this version 7.2.103.0 can support the repeater because for 1 access point i dont want to upgrade the version.
I've got a couple new 5508 controllers to replace my 4404's. Im wondering though if I throw them on the network to setup, will there be any conflict with the current access points? Will they try and join the new controllers for any reason automatically? Is there a better way, or a best practice to provision these new controllers?
Just bought two new LAP1041N APs to add to a dead spot on our campus. Well when trying to set them up the will not stay connected to the WLAN Controller (model 4402). The new APs boot fine, and will even appear in the controller for brief moments, but after a few seconds they dissapear and start showing the discovery status light pattern (green, red, amber). Just wondering if I am doing something wrong with these APs, or what the issue could possible be.We have 10 other APs that as soon as we connected to network were detected by controller and we configured from there. Most of those are 1010 or 1020s, we have a few 1131s and 1100s.
I have Cisco 5508 WLAN controller v7.4 and i have lap 1310 and it is not joining to this lan controller. What to do? How to join this lap to this lan controller? or how to convert it to autonomous because i dont find mode button on this access point?
I will migrate a Cisco WLAN Controller 2125 to 2504,So I have one question?I need to make all configuration into the new Wlan Controller or I can migrate with one tool or something else?
I have Cisco 5508 Wlan Controller and its having 6 Fiber Ports and I have AIR-LAP1131AG-E-K9 Access Point. Can this Access Point will work with this Lan Controller? Can i connect 3 switches to this wlan controller?
we use wlc 4402 (Software Version 7.0.98.0) and want to allow only several wlan nic vendors to connect to a wlan ssid.According to this, is it possible to configure MAC Filtering with wildcards, e.g. aa:bb:cc:* ?
I've seen a discussion about importing mac addresses into the mac filter db on a cisco controller but is there a way to export the mac filter db? I have a Cisco 5508.
I have a 2504 and my goal is to automatically redirect a users home page when they connect to a certain internal website. Authentication isn't a real concern just now.
Is it possible to simply have a users home page redirected when they open their browser upon connecting to the SSID? All of the documents available have stated to use 802.1x / RADIUS or other fancy tools.
We have 5508 controller (redundant) & would like to configure Staff vlan to get authenticate with active directory.i am new to the controller device & want to configure controller with active directory (windows 2012).
5508 controller (Active & Standby) with 48 Access Point.(configuration Done) Guest Vlan (only for internet Access) controller based web authentication configured.
Staff Vlan ( inside & outside ). Need to configure with LDAP authentication?
We had our wireless mesh network running with 4400 Controller and 1510 A.Ps. Now that we have bought new 5508 Controller (with SW: 7.2) and 3600 Indoor APs, we are unable to add legacy APs on our new controller. After a wild googling I have found that for 1510 APs i need to be on SW ver: 4.0. But that will lead into another situation i-e I wont be able to have my 3600 APs on WLAN Controller.
I have a customer whom has six LAP1131AG-K9 but no controller and they are interested in one of the new 2500 series, specifically a AIR-CT2504-5-K9 with a 5 AP add-on license to bring total AP capacity to 10. I can't determine clearly if this controller will work for these older AP's prior to them making the jump to 802.11n via the 3500 or 3600 series, looking to the community to confirm.
I need to take the backup of configuration file for WLAN Controller 4420, I tried all the possibilities given in the documentation but the backup fails, I have main confusion with the file name to be backedup, i am not able to findout the configuration filename any where even when i use CLI?
The Release Notes for 7.0.116.0 of WLC 5500 has a table which title is "Client Type", and it shows wireless adapters. My question is, what kind of customer means? Wireless clients or clients for an specific application? If it was the first option, does it mean tha just this adapters could connect to my wireless network?
I have cisco 5508 wlan controller with 8 ports can i connect 8 switches on these port. If i connect what will be configuration to work all these ports because only port 1 is working if i connect to switch remaining ports when i connect status showing is enable but not working.
We are planning a WLAN upgrade and the security policy is to forward wireless Guest user traffic to the DMZ controllers. We are now considering the Virtual WLAN Controller and all AP's will register with the virtual controllers and we will use Flexconnect for Staff and internal traffic that will switch their traffic onto the local switch.
We wish to forward the guest traffic to the DMZ Guest Anchor controller which will be a 5508 controller. This will also offer Office Extend AP service.I have looked at teh virtual controller docs and not very clear if this deployment model is supported. Below is a diagram of what we wish to deploy and is this a supported deployment model.
I have a Dell Studio 1537 running on Windows Vista? my computer stopped being able to connect to the internet a few days ago and a "Dell Wireless WLAN Controller closed and stopped working" (or something along those lines) box would keep on popping up. I did some reading around on the internet and decided that maybe I needed to update the "drivers" for it so I went to the Dell website and downloaded the most recent version for my Dell Wireless 1510 WLAN mini card...that didn't seem to work any after I installed it. So I went ahead and uninstalled it (I assume I must have uninstalled something I shouldn't have) and now I'm stuck at the same problem. I can't connect to the internet! In Network Connections, it continually says that "Windows cannot find any networks". In Device Manager, under Network Adapters, it doesn't list the card there, although it lists "Broadcom Netlink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet". And from some suggestions I found on the net, I tried ipconfig/all in the comand promt and it says "media disconnected".
I have Cisco AIR-LAP1310G-E-K9 access point and 5508 wlan controller with version 7.0.220 and it is joining to the WLAN controller. I have enabled dhcp in the lan controller and i dont have external dns server. How to fix this issue? Can this LAN controller version will support this access point? My Lan Controller Management IP Address is 10.10.10.5 find the below configuration of 1300 access point.

We are planning to setup a new WLAN using Cisco 2504 WLAN Controller and 1142N Access Point. Is it possible to create individual user accounts for the users those who all are connecting to this WLAN Network by using the 2504 WLAN Controller ?
I recently upgraded our controllers to the latest version 7 software, as I read this was one of the requirements to get them to connect. But I am not having any luck getting into a controller. Normally I plug them in to the network, they pop into the controller listed as something like AP5057.a844.xxxx and then I can finish configuring them, but a static IP on them, etc. This is the first of this model AP I have tried to deploy, so I am wondering what is different with these. or what I might be missing in the default config in the WLAN controllers. Niether of which are set to "Master" either.
