Cisco Wireless :: Configure Ports And Interfaces On WLC 2504

Oct 26, 2012

I have WLC 2504 controller and six access points AIR-LAP1042N. I reading Cisco 2500 Series Wireless Controller Deployment Guide url...trying to set up along the lines.

It is also possible to have multiple AP-managers in a different subnet than the management interface. However, in this case, it is recommended that you disable the AP-manager from the management interface and create another AP-manager interface on different physical ports in a different subnet than the management interface. All multiple AP-managers in this scenario should be in the same subnet.

I maping management interface on physical port 1 and disabled ap-manager on it. Set up 192.168.7.0 subnet with non tagged vlan. This iface/port I want to use only for access to WLC web-interface. Then I create dynamic interface ‘dynamic1’, map him on port 2, enable ap-manager on him, and set up 192.168.110.0 subnet with vlan 10. Then I tryed map wlan1 to this iface, but I can’t because in the choice was only management iface to map wlan1.

There is three dynamic interfaces on same subnet and vlan, in example above. But when I try to add dynamic iface with the same vlan/subnet as an existing dynamic interface, I get an error, and can’t adding.

Cisco Wireless :: Configuration Of Multiple AP Manager Interfaces On WLC 2504

Mar 20, 2012

I've got a question concerning the configuration of multiple AP manager interfaces on -for example- a cisco WLC 2504. I've read the configuration guide but I'm not sure whether this is the way the protocol works. Say I want to distribute AP's (and traffic) across various AP Manager interfaces on the WLC. I would configure the following:

Create one management interface (which will automatically also be an AP-Manager interface)Configure 1 (or more) Seperate ap-manager interfaces, assign them to a port number, and select "Enable dynamic AP Management". VLAN ID's will be the same.Create a WLAN and configure it's interface to "management" Is it correct if I state that the LWAPP protocol takes care of the discovery from the Access Point and sends information about the available AP-manager interfaces back to the AP and the AP knows which ap-manager interfaces are available, connecting to the least loaded one?

Cisco :: WLC 2504 Interfaces And Guest Networks?

Jan 10, 2013

I installed a WLAN with a WLC 2504 and 1140 APs. My network is configured the following way. 10.10.X.X/8. Port 1 on my WLC has the following interfaces management with the ip address 10.10.X.5 and the virtual interface. I have one secure SSID on the management interface. DHCP is done on my Sonicwall firewall. I was advised to create a second interface called AP-Manager and i have the following questions:

1. Do i create a new port or do I create the AP-Manager interface on the same port as my other interfaces?

2. Once i create the new interface of AP-Manager, will my APs migrate over to this interface?

3. Do i need to create the AP-Manager interface or leave all my AP's on the management interface?

4. Second do I need to create a services interface and if yes, on port 1?

I also need to create a guest network that would have the ip scheme of 172.16.X.X and have the guest authicated by level 3 web authication.

1. Do i create my guest interface on port1 or create a new port?

2. DO i need to point my DNS of the interface to the virtual interface.

Cisco Wireless :: Configure A Wired Guest Network With A Combination Of 5508 And 2504 Wireless Controllers?

Apr 7, 2013

Is there any way to configure a wired guest network with a combination of 5508 and 2504 wireless controllers? I am aware that the 2504 does not have wired guest functionality, however is it possible to set up a wired guest on the 5508 and using mobility anchors, transmit the l2 information through eoip to communicate with the remote vlan?Home built NAC solution, using 802.1x authentication on switchports for public areas. If user is an employee, communicates with the supplicant on their machine, and places them on an internal vlan.If user is a guest, user fails 802.1x check and is placed on a "guest" vlan with an ACL and external DNS.If placed on the guest vlan, the user has to accept a terms of use form. This is working currently with our 5508s without any issue, however we have some remote offices we'd like to roll this out to that are using 2504 controllers. I'm hoping there's a way that I can use the 5508 as an anchor or vice versa to make this work.

Cisco :: 2504 Configure Rogue Detector AP And Trunk Port?

Dec 14, 2012

I'm using a 2504 controller.  I dont have WCS.My questions are about the best way to configure a Rogue Detector AP.

In my lab environment I setup the WLC with 2 APs.  One AP was in local mode, and I put the other in Rogue Detector mode. The Rogue Detector AP was connected to a trunk port on my switch.  But the AP needed to get its IP address from the DHCP server running on the WLC.  So I set the native vlan of the trunk port to be the vlan on which the WLC management interface resides.  If the trunk port was not configured with a native vlan, the AP couldn't get an address through DHCP, nor could the AP communicate with the WLC.  This makes sense because untagged traffic on the trunk port will be delivered to the native vlan.  So I take it that the AP doesn't know how to tag frames.Everything looked like it was working ok.

So I connected an autonomous AP (to be used as the rogue), and associated a wireless client to it.  Sure enough it showed up on the WLC as a rogue AP, but it didn't say that it was connected on the wire.  From the rogue client I was able to successfully ping the management interface of the WLC.
But the WLC never actually reported the rogue AP as being connected to the wired network. So my questions are:

1. What is the correct configuration for the trunk port?  Should it not be configured with a native vlan?  If not, then I'm assuming the rogue detector AP will have to have a static IP address defined, and it would have to be told which vlan it's supposed to use to communicate with the WLC.

2.  Assuming there is a rogue client associated with the rogue AP, how long should it reasonably take before it is determined that the rogue AP is connected to the wired network?  I know this depends on if the rogue client is actually generating traffic, but in my lab environment I had the rogue client pinging the management interface of the WLC and still wasn't being picked up as an on-the-wire rogue.

Cisco Firewall :: Configure ASA To Send All Traffic From (3) VLans To Interfaces That Connects To 2960?

Apr 18, 2013

I have a an ASA 5520 connected to a Layer 3 (3750) switch (Inside) and a connection to a 2960 switch (Outside) to get to the internet. . I have created vlan interfaces on the 3750 switch and enabled ip routing on the switch to enable the vlans to communicate with each other.

Vlan Interfaces on the switch:
Vlan 100 172.17.1
Vlan 200 172.18.1
Vlan 300 192.168.3.1

I want the devices connected to the 3 vlans to be able to pass through the firewall and get out to the internet.I have connected the ASA to the 3750 by routed interfaces (10.10.10.1) --------- (10.10.10.2) and they are able to ping each other.I have also put a default route on the 3750 sending all traffic from the switch to the ASA inside interface (10.10.10.1)The issue that i am having is that the ASA also connects to a 2960 which has a connection to the Internet, and they are handing off an ethernet connection from the 2960 that sits in VLAN 55 (Vlan 55 is the Internet accessible vlan). How do I configure my ASA to send all traffic from my (3) vlans to the interfaces that connects to the 2960 switch?

Cisco Firewall :: Trying Configure ASA5505 (8.4) To Allow HTTPS On Two WAN Ports

Sep 14, 2012

I have an ASA 5505 running 8.4.4.1. I've configured three WAN interfaces and have assigned failover on one of them (we have two ISP's, and a total of 3 static IP's in 3 different subnets).  I've noticed that all the traffic is flowing through only one of the three interfaces, but I need to allow incoming https traffic on the second WAN port so I can access our Exchange server (we already use https on the first WAN port to access another server).

[code] WAN1 is the default outgoing route and we've configured several incoming services on it (smtp and https for example) and appears to be working properly as mail is coming and going and users can access the RDS gateway.I need to configure WAN2 to accept https traffic and send it to our Exchange server to enable OWA (webmail) access.I've configured the same Access and NAT rules on all three WAN interfaces  for smtp (but I suspect only the first one is currently functioning at  this point, I'll test it next chance I get). I thought all I'd have to do is configure an access and NAT entry on WAN2 (same as on WAN1), but direct the traffic to the OWA server instead of the rds gateway server, but it is not working.

In the realtime log I can see that it appears to be receiving the traffic on the WAN2 IP, but seems to be passing this through to the inside via the WAN1 interface.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: CR3845 Internal Switch Trying To Configure 2 Ports On Same Subnet

Sep 6, 2012

Have our public IP address space masked on /24 at our Internet Router.  The router portion of 3845 connects to Internet, while the internal switch connects to my internal network and seeds it with the public address space.  The switch had a port configured no switchport (L3) with an ip address with /24  (ie 67.63.145.1 /24)  this connects to internal IPS/IDS then to Firewall which NATs to internal, then packet shaper, web filter etc etc etc.  I need to test my ISP speed so I need to "break in" to the link between the switch and the IPS/IDS.  I figured I could configure another port on the switch on the 3845 but my problem is the port to my network is routed and is masked on entire /24.  I tried to configure a port on VLAN 1 and give myself an available address in the L3 address space and this did not work (figured it would not but gave it a try)

Any way to get two ports configured to use the same subnet while one is a L3 routed port and the other is just part of that layer 3 routed network?
