Sep 28, 2012We are Deploying New Stand Alone AP (Model:AIR-AP1142N-N-K9) in our infrastrucuture, through out our network, we used 802.11G Adapter for Wifi Clients throughout,
Coulple of Questions i Have,
1) In This New Access point i found only Radio0 -802.11N 2.4 Ghz & 5 Ghz , whether this Model AIR-AP1142N-N-K9 will Support 802.11G Adapters?
2) if Clients Comes up with 802.11 G Adapter will it Negotiate and Connect to it?, through out worldwide our network Wifi Clients used 802.11g network to Connect to wifi Network.
3) Also from Client PC is there a way to find what network adapter its running?
4) Correct me if i am wrong , if Client Laptops having G adapter, i Hope it will not Connect To Access point with N Adapter?
5) if these Access point Does not support G adapter, any way to upgrade or downgrade to other IOS to make this access point support G Adapters?

Ideally I want drop in another AP1142 to provide end to end coverage. Does AP1142 has a repeater mode? If not is there any way to make two AP1142's work with each other so they appear as a singular access point? Can they be configured to handle roaming?

Dec 27, 2012My APs 1142N don't join their WLC. APs and WLC management interface are in the same vlan (WLC can ping all the APs). It is strange because it doesn't seem like they are trying to contact the WLC. What's strange is that I have other AP 1142N which joined this WLC without any problem.

i've got my client real close to the AP and i only get a connection speed of 72Mbs.
Shouldn't i get 150mbs? Maybe some wrong configuration?
Cisco Switching/Routing :: AP1142N Radius To Access Web Interface
Dec 13, 2012I currenly have a cisco AP1142N configured to work with our radius server (It was already configured when I took over the network). I order two additional access points for building coverage on multiple floors. Currently, I uploaded the config of the orginal access point to the new device and I can access the device via web and the ssid is being broadcasted. I then added in the access point into IAS with the radius secret key to our Radius server. When I go to connec to the new access point w/ domain credentials I am not able to establish a connection. I am not very familiar with CISCO products. I followed a video to get the access point up and running w/ an IP from CLI so I could access the web interface and upload the edited config.txt file. Are there any issues with setting up multiple access points w/ a single windows radius (IAS) server?

Its autonomous so there is no controller. I renamed the config.txt file I am unable to rename or delete the private-config file. I get the message that file or directory cannot be found when i try to rename and permission denied when I try to delete it.
Cisco Wireless :: 2960G / AIR-AP1142N-E-K9 Ethernet Interface Stops Working?
May 13, 2012I installed two AIR-AP1142N-E-K9 access points, running a fairly simple config, WPA2 PSK, with AES cipher, both the same SSID.The two access points are connected to Cisco 2960G switches, which are in turn connected to each other, again without any fancy config options, no VLAN's ed.
After a random while, varying from 30 minutes to 15 hours, the access points will stop sending/recieving traffic on the ethernet interface.The units don't stop at the same moment, this also varies seemingly random. It's not related to load or the amount of clients (1 to 15).Only turning on one unit doesn't make any difference.
The units keep sending out their SSID, you can associate to them, but the DHCP requests aren't passed on to the DHCP server which is connected to one of the 2960G's.If you wirelessly connect to the AP and set a manual IP adress you can reach the webinterface and telnet/ssh to the access point. The ethernet link is reported as being up on the access point. Also the switch reports a link on the port to which the access point is connected.Resetting the link does have no effect. The log doesn't mention any errors or warnings.Power cycling or reloading the access point will put it back in working order for a varying amount of time.

Jan 18, 2013Platform: LMS 3.2.1 with RME 4.3.2 on Windows 2003.I'm having a problem with several devices that were backing up fine until this week - suddenly they aren't backing up their running configurations, but RME is fetching their startup configurations fine and VTP backups are fine. At first I thought it might be timeouts, so I used inline edit to incease the telnet timeout for a device to 180s. However, the job fails well within this time period (debug shows on i/o error?). My order of protocols is SSH, Telnet, TFTP. I took a stab in the dark that this suggested a database problem so I picked one at random and deleted it from DCR, and readded it and it worked. However, for the other 48 devices affected it did not.
I'm wondering if I need to do anything to the RME database to get things back to where they were? Do I need to reinitialize the RME database, and if I do that what do I lose? [code]

Sep 13, 2012We upgraded to Cisco LMS 4.2.1 recently and we have noticed that every time we reboot our Windows VM Server the archived configurations from the network devices are no longer displayed. They do not appear in the archive, version tree or directory. We are meeting the minimum system requirements for running LMS 4.2.1 and we do not seem to have found any possible bugs related to this.

The current set up for this network has an mpls router and a vpn concentrator as part of the network my aim currently is to replace the juniper with an asa5510 the changing of the vpn tunnels will be for a different time:
work station ===> switch (3750) DG to =====> MPLS (vendor owned and managed) ====> non mpls traffic ====> vpn concentrator ===>firewall ===> router
The above will need acls to go with the routes, which I should manage ok just want to make sure the routing is configured properly

Sep 25, 2011I built a VSS pair with a couple of 6509's. This was our first pair so we took the opportunity to do some testing. One of the features we tested was the priority/preemption feature, which we decided not to use. After some time we shutdown switch 1 and relocated it to another building. Unfortunately, because of a lack of fiber, it was not connected to switch 2 for several months. Also, unfortunately, I failed to remove the priority commands. Now while switch 1 was "unconnected", we made changes to the config on switch 2. Months later, when the fiber was complete and I connected switch 1, preemption caused it to take over. I'm guessing switch 1 thought it's config file was the better one, and proceeded to overwrite switch 2's production config. I quickly disconnected the fiber but not before losing my production config on switch 2. We of course recovered from that with a backup, but now I need to connect switch 1 again. I have removed the priority command from switch 1 and rebooted it.
