D-Link DIR-825 :: MAC Filtering Blocks Allowed Devices After Several Hours

Jan 28, 2012

I have yet another problem now with the DIR-825.  I have a DAP-1522 that I connect my multimedia devices to like my TV, BD player, etc.

For added security, I use MAC filtering to only allow access to my devices that connect to my router.  However, after several hours, the devices connected to my DAP-1522 can no longer connect and neither can I connect to them.  The odd thing is that I can connect just fine to the 1522 itself.  I NEVER had this issue with the DIR-655 so I figured it had to be the 825.  After trying several things, I essentially narrowed it down to the MAC filtering.

If I turn MAC filtering off everything works fine all the time.  If I turn it on, everything works fine for several hours, even up to a whole day, but then eventually my devices can no longer see or be seen.

D-Link DIR-615 :: Access Control Blocks Too Much

Oct 24, 2012

I have tried to setup access control by setting up a policy that restricts certain MAC addresses during a period during the day from certain websites.  I set up the website filter and a schedule and selected them for the policy.  Instead of blocking just the websites on the filter list during the time setup in the schedule, it blocks all websites all the time.I made sure that I setup the policy to 'block some access' NOT 'block all access'.The only thing that seems to work is that only the computers with the MAC address selected are effected.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Blocks DNLA To / From PS3 And Plex

Dec 28, 2012

I have a simple set-up: a DIR-655 with 2 devices plugged in to it. The Plex Media Server runs on Ubuntu Linux and acts as the DLNA server to a PS3 DLNA client. Both are hard-wired with ethernet cables to the DIR-655. In this set up the PS3 has trouble discovering the PLEX server via DLNA. A 'search for DLNA devices' on the PS3 fails to return the PLEX. Eventually, after some strange time interval ranging from 2-30 minutes, the PLEX server will show up on the PS3's list.

I attached a simple ethernet switch to the DIR-655 and then attached the PS3 and Plex/linux server to it. The PS3 now finds the Plex DLNA server INSTANTLY ... without even having to scan for servers.

It appears that the DIR-655 is trying to be 'useful' in some way by filtering some sort of traffic; multicast/igmp I assume. There don't appear to be any settings in the GUI to alter the Multicast/IGMP/DLNA/UPnP behavior in the LAN ... other then "turn UPnP on."

Note that this is hardware B1 and firmware 2.00NA.

TP Link 1043 ND Router Blocks Facebook And Other Sites?

Oct 23, 2012

I have fiber optic net, going into a TP Link 1043 ND router out in my garage.All of the 4 lan ports go into one of the rooms in the house. I also have two more routers of the same kind, one downstairs and one upstairs.They are configured in a way, that DHCP server is only turned on, on the one in the garage, the other two act as switches.My problem is that 50 % of the time I can't acces facebook, and some other random sites.The interesting bit is that when I chat with someone on FB, I can see what they write, but my message doesn't go through.The way it goes, is that I can browse on facebook for like 5 minutes, after that its unavailable for another 5 minutes.I can still access the site from my smartphone, but only if its not connected to the wifi network, meaning the problem is somewhere within my setup.I've already tried turning the router firewall off, but that doesn't make any difference.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Disconnect Every Few Hours - WAN Just Shuts Off

Jun 4, 2012

Every few hours, the WAN just shuts off.  If you were connected to it when this happens, you cannot reconnect until you have reset the router; you can't even find the SSID.  If you were not connected when this happens, you can connect just fine.  This happens with all devices in the house, my laptop, my DAP-1522, my cell phone, and my brother's Mac (SMH, sometimes I think we aren't related...).  I am running version 2.00NA on B1 firmware.

I am really tired doing this every day. I tried firmware 1.21 to 1.35 and non of them were good.I know that 655 has good performance compare to its price but I think it has world's worst firmware.

The internet service provider that I am using is Time Warner Cable and the modem is an ARRIS TM502G.I have tried resetting the modem and the internet seems to come back. Same thing happens if I try to reset the router instead of the modem. I have also tried restoring the router to factory default settings and that didn't seem to work.

Protocols / Routing :: D-link Router DIR-600 Disconnects Every Few Hours?

I have my D-link DIR 600 and I never had problems with it until now. For the past three weeks, my router keeps on disconnecting my Desktop P.C. from which the main internet cable is connected. Whenever it happens, I try connecting my Netbook over a WiFi connection using the same router; and even though my desktop can not connect to the internet, my netbook still can. Apparently when it happens, the [3] (the 4th light in the image) light goes off, and I have to restart my Desktop P.C. for it to turn on again and to use the internet again.

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: TL-WDR4300 - DHCP Not Dealing Addresses After Few Hours?

Dec 9, 2012

Region : Poland
Model : TL-WDR4300
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 3.13.23 Build 120810 Rel.44064n
ISP : [url]...

I'm having issues with DHCP server not dealing IP after few hours (varies between 1h and 8h) of torrent traffic. If no continuous torrent traffic is applied, the problem does not occur. New wireless devices connect to the wi-fi network, but get stuck on 'getting IP adress'. The problem is with DHCP service or the wireless network service. New wired devices receive IP. The problem is only with wireless devices. I have no additional wireless device, that I can configure the network settings on my own (only phones) to check if it works without DHCP server giving IP. Wired connection is stable, but the bandwidth usage curve becomes somewhat similar to a sinewave.

I did disable the hardware NAT because that feature made the router unstable and caused it to hang up within minutes.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5505 URL Filtering Using URL Filtering Server?

Feb 7, 2012

I have come across articles mentioning that URL  Filtering can be implemented by using ASA 5505 with URL Filtering  Servers. But Websense and other Web Filtering Servers are paid ones ?  Are there any free solutions available ? What exactly is N2H2 ? The  reason is I don 't want to increase the CPU utilization of ASA by  implementing URL filtering within the device. If I have around 30 nodes  which connects to the internet via a 2Mbps line through ASA 5505 and if I  want to block around say 10 or 15 URLs , will it increase CU  utilization beyond permissible limits ? Currently the CPU Utilization is  around 10 - 15 . Here's the infrastructure setup .

D-Link DIR-655 :: Turn NAT And Endpoint Filtering Off?

D-Link DIR-655 :: Website Filtering Not Working?

Jan 17, 2011

It seems (and should be) pretty straight forward; under ADVANCED go to WEBSITE FILTERING and enter in the URI, or partial URI, that you want blocked and make sure the drop-down menu is "DENY computer access to ONLY these websites".  The only problem is, I can still get to all of them. I saw in another forum that you had to check "Enable Access Control" and go through a 6-step process where you specify machines - I truly hope that isn't the solution, because it's needlessly complicated for most users who only want to block ALL devices on their network from accessing certain sites. My Hardware Version is B1 and my Firmware version is 2.00NA.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Network Filtering / 24 MAC Address Limit?

Jan 23, 2013

I have had a great experience with my old DIR-655 (rev A) router.  However, I would like to upgrade to a newer and better D-link router for my home that contains many well-connected children. Which routers are like my DIR-655, and have better overall performance than the DIR-655 without necessarily using the benefit of the 5 GHz second band.   What better performing routers can record more than 24 MAC addresses in the Network Filtering area?  I understand many people don't agree with MAC address filtering, but I like it to keep my kids from giving out my network password to all the neighbor kids and their friends too.  So, MAC address filtering works for me.  Or, should I just get an updated version of the DIR-655?
