I recently purchased a 825 and a WD Mybook Live. I have been going back and forth on the WD board trying to resolve a remote access issue with the mybook and I am being told to do some settings in the router and I am not sure I have dine them correctly> It has not resolved the issue but I would like to make sure I am correct before I claim its not a good fix. The mybook is connected into a network port on the router which is connected to a High Speed modem and then out to the internet. Initially I was told to enable UPnP on the 825, which was already enabled. Then this is what I was told to do by a WD tech. You could try assigning a static IP to the My Book Live, then making sure ports 80 and 443 are assigned to that IP on your router. It is possible that something else is taking one of these ports. We use uPnP to try to open up these ports, and if it fails, we resort to relay mode. In the future, we will allow you to set these ports within the My Book Live to other than 80 and 443.
i have this problem when using Remote Live Viewer the Web Remote Client of DviewCam 3.2: i can only see one camera at a time, even more i have to stop playing the current one if i want to change the camera. the viewer shows me the grid for playing many cameras but i don't know if they can be played simultaneously. I can select any camera and will play so i don't think it's an access problem.
I am trying to setup 4 cameras to view with remote live view. I set up my server with IP addresses of 192.168.1.80 .... 85. The screen has only the option for 1 video channel. I have seen on-line screen shots that have options for channel 1 through 8. I want to assign each camera to a different channel so I will be able to use remote live view to show all 4 cameras at the same time. I can only show one at a time. Do I need a different version than 3.3 or some obscure windows 7 setting?
I cannot connect to X-box live. The test connects to my router, to the internet, but fails on connecting to Xbox live. I tried changing from n to g. Set up port forwarding with dedicated IP address on xbox. Still same issue every-time. Even see the x-box listed on the router status page indicating that the static IP I assigned is hitting the router. Using WPA- personal for security and the X-box game adaptor with a D-Link- 655 router.
I have set up an access point as per the instructions I found on this site. It works perfectly, holds a wireless signal fine. Now, I have the challenge of trying to remote connect to the home computer that is connected to this access point. I have absolutely no clue as to what changes in settings have to be made.
I am having trouble accessing my DIR-655 remote management screen via ip to my network. To make sure i didnt have any odd settings, i did a hard reset on my router first.I then enabled remote management, and left the default port 8080 I try to access viw the ip address on my status page suffixed by the port 8080 [URL] page cannot be found.I then enabled https and tried to access via:[URL]page cannot be found.I then setup a entry in the virtual server to redirect http requests to my workstation hosting IIS7, if i connect to localhost, the iis welcome screen appears, but if i browse to my ip, i get nothing.I am using Cox residential service, i called them and they informed me that they do not filter or block requests in any way.
i have a WD My Book Live and it's connected to my DIR-825. i'd like to configure the router to allow FTP access to the NAS from the internet. the drive has an option to enable FTP in it's configuration, but i have not done this before and i don't know what to do to create a solid/secure FTP portal so that i can access my files remotely.how do i configure the router for this ? my router is set to DHCP and i have turned MAC filtering on.. in particular i am looking for the ability to transfer/copy files from the drive, and not allow any modification/writing to the drive from the outside.
I opened the remote management to my Dir 655 but i can't enter it I tried to change port it didn't work, tried to factory defaults or hard reset didn't work what can i do I think it all so stuck my access to my remote desktop (not sure)
And I got 2 internet connections from isp one is static ip leased line and the other one i dsl dynamic ip one.
What I want is i need to configure internet load balance between these 2 internet and also i need to use static ip for remote access vpna and for my exchange port forwarding.
My dsl line in 100 mps and my leased line 2mb dedicated.
I configured the router as with some example config i got on internet my internet is fine but load balancing not happening and i configured the REMOTE ACCESS VPN . I am able to connect the remote access vpn but no communication through remote access . i cannot reach any device through remote access.
Note: if load balancing is not possible how i can configure for internet traffic use dsl line and for remote access vpn and live exchange port forwarding through leased line.
I am attaching my configuration and also debug crypto isakmp status
i've lost the ability to view live streaming video (adobe flash, i think) on several websites. it happened gradually over several weeks and now videos will not load. the dir-615 has functioned flawlessly over several years but it might be showing its age now. connecting directly to my com cast broadband modem fixes the problem. can i tweak the router settings or do i need to replace it?
my setup: dir-615, H/W Ver. E1, F/W Ver. 5.00NA, two wired connections to X Box's and one to Win 7 PC. wireless connections to several Win 7 laptops and other tablets/phones. com cast high speed broadband with their Norton security suite.
if replace.....i need a recommendation. the best bang for a buck while staying within a tight budget.
After I change my router, I recently found out that I cannot access remote network resources after VPN tunnel is established. I use CISCO System VPN client. I can see the connection is successful. I cannot ping server on the remote network
I currently have ipV4 as the setting on my DIR-825. Other posts seem to want ipV6 which is more secure but is not possible with a DIR-825 Rev A1. I have two routers, a primary router (DIR-825 Rev B1) capable of ipV6 and a secondary router (DIR-825 Rev A1). If I implement ipV6 on the Rev B1 router but keep ipV4 on the secondary router, will this improve the security, or will it just mess things up so nothing works?Certain devices (cell phones and most Tablets) don't deal with ipV6 very well at all. The ones I have tested flat don't connect to the wireless network if the router is set at ipV6. Is ipV4 adequate for a Home/Small Business Network when trying to implement Remote Access and VPN?
I plug in the external HDD to USB, and I can see the device on the router setup page. I can see the media server running on every DLNA device in the house. I can even FTP in to the external HDD. But nothing, no way, no how can allow me to map the network drive using the IP address of the router.
i still play with the motion detection feature of the 942L. Is there a way to see where on the live-picture the motion is detected?I do not see any motion on the srceen but the cam still detects motion and records every 60 seconds. Also i played with the sensitivity but without success. So i had the idea to ask the cam where on the screen the motion was detected...
I have 3 DCS-932L connected to DviewCAM 3.3 Device pack 1.4.2. When I open the DviewCAM main console I have picture. When I activate network service (live streaming) options under port: 8080 and webserver port: 801, it allows a visual of the DviewCAM GUI but no live streaming over the internet. [code]
I get a timeout in Cisco Connect when I select "Connect USB drive". Also there is no detection through the router website. The hard drive works fine when I hook it up via USB. It's NTFS formatted. Is there any other way to make the router detect the drive? (It does recognize a USB stick, so it's no hardware issue on that side)
I have just installed two DCS-942L cameras and uses MyDlink. The live video is OK from MyDlink, but when I log on to the cameras from "Advanced Settings" the live video is just a black screen, no matter what video profile I select. Like wise I can't select motion detect area, because there is just a black screen.I have tried on tree different computers. What can be wrong?
So our last router (Linksys) quit on us the other day so we got this one. We plug it in and it works most of the time, but the connection drops out periodically. Also, for some reason, I am now unable to connect to Xbox Live using my laptop as a router (plugging the ethernet cable from my xbox to my laptop). Also, when I plag it in, the internet stops working on my laptop and I have to restart it to get it to work again.
I have been trying to resolve what I think is an issue with DNLP or broadcast data getting to computers connected to my E3200. I have been wiresharking my network, trying different configuration, and scouring the web looking for an answer. My network is setup as shown below. The E3200 is on the same subnet and wired to the switch using the LAN port.DHCP is turned off. UPnP is enabled. DHCP is provided by the WRT54GL and turned off on the E3200.
WesternDigital has a program called "WD QuickView" and another called "WD Smartware" which together provide feedback about the drive status and real time backup capability (I prefer not to argue the +/- of these programs if folks don't mind <grin>). I have two computers on the wired LAN at the 16 port switch on which these programs work just fine. I get feedback about the drive status and backups occur. I also have two computers on the wireless LAN through the E3200 which DO NOT get feedback about drive status and appear not to detect the drive through the software. I CAN however access the drive by mapping it on Windows explorer for example.
With wireshark I do see chatter between the NAS and the E3200 (TCP traffic which I am not sure about...dpkeyserv stuff). I see broadcasts from the NAS to 126.96.36.199 often followed by talk between one of the wired computers and the NAS (which I am thinking is the comms for the WD...not sure though). I do not see chatter between wireless connected computers and the NAS (except for SMB or transferring files). It seems that the E3200 is not forwarding broadcasts to the computers connected to it even though it is connects as a switch.

I need to set up remote access to my HDD connected to my WDR4300, so I can always go online when I am out to retrieve the saved files in the HDD. However I have zero knowledge of network setting of the FTP servers, I can gain access when I am home and connected to the Wireless network, but how to gain access remotely.
I can't access my live camera feed from my home surveillance DVR from outside of my LAN using the Linksys E4200. I was able to access the camera feed using the Linksys WRT 610N, when it wasn't dying on me. I can access the camera feed from inside of my LAN. I've configured port forwarding, port range triggering, and DMZ. I'm using the LTS LTD7708 DVR.
I have an iMac computer with the latest Snow Leopard OS as the main computer, this is connected to an airport extreme, which in turn is connected to an Edimax AR-7084gA router, the latter is turned off wirelessly and is only used for the modem, I have a WD Mybook network drive connected to the airport extreme via an ethernet cable, my windows XP OS connects faultlessly to the internet through the iMac, but I cannot see the Mybook network drive on the windows computer, however I can see it on the iMac in finder, I would also like to be able to share my Lexmark printer, which is also connected via an ethernet cable, I am new to a Mac, having previously been a windows user, otherwise will not understand any overly technical terms, not sure if this is to do with sharing from the Mac
Im currently connected to a remote acess vpn setup using the vpn client and am unable to get anywhere around my network, this normalyl works fine The only difference i can see is that the are multiple virtualaccess interfaces pointing to my public ip address, which im presuming is causing routing issues How can i clear these unsed virtual access lines and how can i make it forget them automatically after disconnects?
We have an ASA5510 and a few days ago we were unable to access some segments from remote access VPN, the problem was not the config. A few hours later the problem was resolved on its own and I suspect we have an IOS bug. This has happened a few times in the past and its becoming an issue. How can this be confirmed and which IOS should we upgrade to? Prefer not 8.3 given the syntax difference
Based on my diagram, my computer A (192.168.100.11) can ping and access my computer B (192.168.10.14). But, when i'm home and i use remote access vpn (192.168.200.x) in cisco asa 5520 to connect to my computer A is okay. But, when i try to ping my computer B is not okay. I already do the exemption for 192.168.100.x and 192.168.10.x in nat rules for inside interface (192.168.100.2) ...
Should i put routing from outside 188.8.131.52 to 192.168.10.x by using 192.168.100.1 as a gateway?
I've seen a few other posts on this subject with no resolution that I could find, so I figure I would ask about it again. My Dlink DIR-655 is setup to allow remote administration through the WAN IP port 8080 - I can ping the outside IP address from offsite, but I can not connect a browser.
I have a home network and I routinely connect from my laptops to my wired desktop via Remote Desktop. Routinely, that is, until I replaced my old wireless router with a D-Link Wireless N router. But now, after the change, I can no longer remote desktop in. I *am* able to ping and file share with that computer, just no remote desktop.
