DIR-655 Xtreme N Router Shuts Off With Computer?

Feb 8, 2012

My problem lies with my router shutting off when my computer goes to sleep or is shut off in any way. I even tried unplugging it, which is not good at all for it. I use my router for several other wireless devices so this is bad. I use a Motorola modem that fits to a D-Link router. The modem appears to stay on when I'm having trouble. the route5r is a "DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router"

BTW i can deny him outright 24/7 and the system idsables his access fine. Its just when i set specific times

Internet Shuts Off After Connection To Router?

May 30, 2012

I'm currently using a MI424WR Rev F router, with a Motorola SURFboard SB5120 cable modem. If I connect directly with the cable modem to the PC, the internet works perfectly fine. But the issue is I have 3 connections, (2 wireless, 1 wired)Okay when I connect my modem to the router (Ethernet into WAN, blah blah) the modem suddenly loses signals. I've noticed this on the modem's status page. ( downstream power level would constantly change, and the modem will lose the Known CPE MAC Address. (When connected to the router)In order to fix the problem, I would need to connect directly to the modem and reset to the factory settings and wait out the 30 minutes.

here's my current status:

2 Coax Splitters
Comcast Cable Provider
A Verizon Router (Capable until this point)

D-Link DIR-615 :: Network Drive Shuts Down Router

Nov 10, 2011

I have the Dlink DIR 615 router, windows 7, and this morning, it suddenly started to shutdown and restart, over and over.  I unplugged all ethernet connections, shut down, etc. and slowly added the PC, then the phone, until when I plugged in the Western Digital 2TB My Book live, it would begin the same restart process. I can now repeat the issue by unplugging, and replugging the drive. I have had the network drive for about 3 months, and this started today.

Xtreme N Desktop PCI Wireless Adapter Disconnecting Every 5 Seconds?

May 10, 2012

i just recently built a new computer (well today) and i plugged in a wirless usb adaptor that was about 2 years old and it was pretty fast but it still lagged my game starcraft (i was just trying it out to see how the computer would handle it). I went out and bought a brand new xtreme N desktop PCI adapter and it is even slower, and it disconnects every 5 seconds it seems. I installed it correctly and installed all the drivers, I also have rebooted the computer and it is still slow and wont even connect for a full youtube video. am i doing something wrong or is my adapter the problem (i am doing this on my laptop which is right beside my computer and is still connected to the internet).i cannot wire my computer to my router because it is to far away so that isn't a solution.

Dell :: D620 Broadcom Net Xtreme 57xx MAC Address Settings

Mar 2, 2007

I'm trying to get my local MAC address changed for Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx adapter in D620 running winXP. Based on Broadcom advice this should be pretty straightforward. In Microsoft Windows, right-click the Network Adapter in Network Connections and then click Properties. Click the Configure button and then the General tab. Configure the "Locally Administered Address" parameter by assigning a unique node address for the adapter. Netware: The Mac Address is configured by the adding Node=XXXXXXXXXXXX parameter to driver load command line in the AUTOEXEC.NCF file, where XXXXXXXXXXXX is the Locally Administered address.
However after clicking "configure" in "general" tab I see only "Driver Details, Update Driver, Roll Back Driver, Uninstall" buttons, on "advanced" tab I see "802.1p QOS", "Flow Control" "Speed and Duplex" and "Wake up Capabilities", however I CAN'T see "Locally Administered Address".I've tried :

- reinstalling drivers, at the moment using latest from Broadcom, from 2006-12-15
- reinstalling Dell's drivers
- installing Broadcom's Control suite

D-Link DWA-552 Xtreme Wireless-N PCI Adapter / Suddenly Lost Internet And Can't Get It Back

Sep 5, 2011

I use a D-Link DWA-552 Xtreme Wireless-N PCI adapter on my Windows XP Home SP3 desktop computer that has been working flawlessly for months, until last night when it suddenly stopped being able to connect.I was just on the web last night doing what I normally do, and all of a sudden out of no where I lost internet connection and I couldn't get it back. I've tried resetting the router downstairs, I've tried restarting and shutting down the computer, and did three system restores (that all failed anyway), and none of these things are getting my connection back. Now also for some reason I can't even open up my network adapter's wireless network manager anymore because it closes itself not even a second after I boot it up.The modem and router downstairs look perfectly fine and all the other computers in the house, even the laptops, can all connect but mine, so something must be up with my network adapter.

Internet Randomly Shuts Off?

Feb 5, 2013

This has been going on for a few months now, but I'm just finally getting around to finding out the issue. So basically, this is what's happening; I'm randomly browsing some pages just fine, then I try to go to another page, and I can't load the page. I try to open a new page after that, it won't load. My internet still says it's at full bar internet access. I can somehow still use pages that are open (Such as a chat program, I can still chat in there, but I can't load any pages) for as long as a few hours after the internet supposedly shuts off. Everybody else in my household doesn't, and hasn't ever had this problem before, so I seriously doubt it's the modem. I've tried moving my laptop into those places to see if it's a problem with reception in the area I'm at, though it doesn't. The only thing that will turn the internet back on again, is a computer restart. After a fresh restart, the internet will last anywhere between 4 hours to a couple of days before doing that.?

Internet Connection Shuts Down After 10-15 Minutes

Aug 27, 2011

Every time I boot my computer, the internet is working fine and shows no signs of anything wrong, but after loading so much (several minutes of a YouTube video, or just idle data coming in from other sites I'm on) it just comes to a halt and nothing can get through. At first, I thought that this was my school's internet being bad since I had just moved back into the dorms today. The problem with that is that I seem to be the only one having a problem like this. After so much time, depending on how much bandwidth I'm using (I think, this is just based on observation), it just drops the internet completely and won't start again until I reboot. What I've found so far is that I can't seem to get an IP address after the service stops, but I don't know how I could connect that to anything.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Web Surfing Shuts Down / Everything Else Stays OK

Aug 27, 2011

I am ignorant with networking.  The most I know is /ipconfig.I am stationed in Japan and have a fiber modem going into my DIR-655.  For about two years everything has been fine...no problems ever.About a month ago, I started getting timeouts and page not found errors when surfing the web, but my online games (EVE, WoW, etc) and our Xbox360/PS3 work fine.  The only thing I could think was to unplug and plug back the DIR-655.  Sometimes that works for a day or a week, but ultimately it always comes back. Is there a setting on the router I can change to avoid this, or a software command I can issue from the computer to clear something?

Cisco VPN :: 891 / Shutting Down One Tunnel Shuts All Down?

Jul 31, 2012

I have several remotes sites connected to "home" with Cisco 891 routers at each remote site."Home" actually consites of two different data center sites, each with a Cisco 3845 router terminating the IPSec tunnels there. One home site provides VOIP phone service, the 2nd home site provides PC Data. Each 891 router has two IPSec over GRE tunnels configured, one tunnel goes to the VOIP home site's 3845 router, the 2nd tunnel goes to the DATA home site's 3945 router. All of my pre-existing 891 routers are still running IOS 12.4(22)YB5, and are working fine.My newest 891 router, purchased recently for a new remote site, shipped with IOS ver 15.0(1)M4, and when I have both tunnels configured similarly to the others, both tunnels come up and everything seems to work fine, but if I disable the VOIP tunnel with the "shutdown" command on the tunnel interface for VOIP, then the data tunnel will not come up at all, with full verbose crypto logging turned on, I never even see an attempt to bring the data tunnel up, and when I issue a "no shut" on the VOIP tunnel, both tunnels come right up. This behavior is not seen on the original 891 routers still running 12.4. I can shutdown the VOIP tunnel and the DATA tunnel will come up, stay up just fine.I really do not need the VOIP tunnel at this new remote site for the immediate future, but would like to keep the configs in place for the future, and also to keep all my 891s configured identically (different ip numbers of course) for consistancy's sake and easy of management.Do I need to install 12.4 on this 891? I'd rather keep the IOS on it that it shipped with.
