View 2 Replies View RelatedSince about 2 months ago I've started to get lag spikes when playing games online. Both xbox 360 and PC games lag and no matter what time it is there are lag spikes. I have ports forwarded for the games I play and even when connecting straight to the modem I get lag. I called my ISP 5 times now and each time they tell me it is a local problem on my end. My ISP also told me I should upgrade my speed, so I upgraded to 8 meg down/1 up and it did not work, whatsoever. I'm thinking that my ISP is BS'ing me, but I want to get other peoples opinion on what I could do before I switch ISP's.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI travel alot so to break up the boredom at the hotels i like to play on my xbox what would make it a whole lot more fun would be to play with my friends online. Problem is that my xbox does not have built in wifi and even with a wifi adapter hotel internet portals prevent from connecting automatically to internet without a browser. I have watched some video on youtube with different methods of using a laptop to connect via ethernet to your xbox and share the internet connection from the laptop. Is there a method that works with Vista? I keep getting a unable to get an ip address error on the xbox and not sure as to what to do.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been using the Dir-655 for 2 or 3 years with my old Xbox 360 and an external G wireless adapter. Everything was working perfectly until I got the dreaded Red Rings Of Death the other day. I replaced the Xbox with a new Slim version with built in N capable network adapter.
After more than 10 hours of trying a variety of "fixes" I found from MS and in this forum, I am still at square 1.
Hardware Version : A3
Firmware Version : 1.32NA (this is listed as Live compatible by Microsoft)
802.11 Mode : Tried N only, G only and mixed 802.11n and 802.11g
Enable Auto Channel Scan : Checked
Transmission Rate : Best (automatic)
Channel Width : Auto 20/40
Visibility Status : Visible
Security Mode : WPA-Personal Also tried WEP
WPA Mode : Auto (WPA or WPA2) Also tried WEP
Cipher Type : TKOP and AES
I tried assigning an IP manually from the Xbox. But, no matter what I do, the router will not accept it. It is especially frustrating that the Xbox is visible to the unit. It simply will not assign an IP to it under any circumstance.
If you read the sales hype promoting the Dir-655, you will see a lot of nonsense about it being great for gaming. Given that, you'd think a simple solution would have been found and posted for this issue by now. Surely, end users shouldn't be trying 100 different possible "fixes", none of which work, at this late stage of the firmware upgrades. If I sound a tad fed up, it's because I am. After the expense of the new Xbox, it appears I now have to junk my router too.
Here is the status screen taken when it was in mixed mode. Changing it to 'G Only' didn't make any difference:
Is there anyway you can assign a static IP address within WAG160Nv2 to peripherals such as an XBOX?
The knowledge base only seems to show how to assign an IP address in the XBOX but when I have to reboot the router, I've noticed the XBOX is assigned a new IP address when viewed in the router pages.
If I set a permanent IP address in the XBOX, this will no longer match what is in the router.
I'm trying to connect my Xbox 360 to Live by bridging my computer's wireless connection. I've done this before for a friend in a different city and it worked fine, and I felt very proud of myself for doing so. However when I try to connect here, the modem won't assign my Xbox an IP address. I've been into ipconfig/all and tried to manually assign the same IP address to the Xbox but to no avail. Same deal with the alternate MAC address option.
To speed things along here's the readout from my ipconfig/all:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
C:UsersSamsung>ipconfig/all
[Code].....
Is there anyway to force the xbox inside the router to grab the same ip address everytime it comes on? Other than changing it on the console via a static ip? Xboxs dont like static Ip address and its getting annoying?
View 11 Replies View RelatedIve been trying to work this out on XBL forum for a while. all my settings seem to be correct ( UPnP, NAT type: open, no port forwarding or triggering, IP settings on Xbox's are auto).
The two Xbox can play online separately, when either one of them attempts to join the others party it disconnects from Xbox live.
According to the microsoft website, Xbox live only supports the Hardware version 1A and Firmware: 1.00NA.
My router has B1 and 2.00NA. is there a way to downgrade?
I can't connect to the internet on my laptop. When I tried to reconfig, it says I can't because media is disconnected.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been working nicely with an industrial scanner that runs on Linux, but the harddrive has become corrupted and I need to get it working again. The problem is that the main PCB has a realtek chip which I believe has the most basic webserver abilities that is used in the most basic way possible. To use it ARP commands were used to assign an IP address to the chips MAC address e.g. something like: arp -s 192.168.2.5 00-05-a4-00-a8-f8(the actual MAC address was lost along with the HD)So now I'm starting from scratch in XP, how do I find the MAC address in the first place?

I've successfully got it running again by copying the cookies from an identical router (obviously changing the serial numbers and so forth so it passes its verification checks).
The last piece of information I need is the Chassis MAC Address. I don't want to use the one from another router since there will probably be conflicts.
I tried following this Field Note, even though it isn't specifically for my model and it didn't work.
