I am able to create the sub-interface and setup dot1q encapsulation for VLAN 2528, but the vlan database does not have the ability to add VLAN 2528 to it so I am unable to get layer 2 up and going, thus preventing me from getting the implementation done.

"A mail message was not sent due to a protocol error.

The message that caused this notification was:"
On closer inspection the router logfiles show:

But the emails in questions are just a few kB. So what is going wrong. This is especially disturbing because the users don't get a notification that the email has not been delivered.
I am having a problem about the caller time out.#dialer idle-timeout 180 either..So the ISDN call will be disconnect after 180 sec. However even there is traffic on the ISDN line, it will disconnect after 180 sec.For example I PING -t command to the destination IP address, it will start dialing out after I run the PING command from srouce PC, but it will disconnect after 180 sec even continue to PING.I checked the remaining time by the command #show caller timeouts. It won't reset the remaining Timer parameter. View 4 Replies View Relatedmy college using WisM (WS-SVC-WISM-1-K9) as wireless controller , Cisco 1130 access point and Cisco Secure ACS 4.X Solution Engine 1113 Appliance as radius server. For username and password, we take it from existing Oracle database.
The problem is the password that store in oracle database is in encrypted format. Base from feedback from database administrator, the encrpytion is done by oracle - application layer and cannot be decrypt back.
To tackle this problem, we decide to use external script in php to verify the username & password...The php script will check directly from oracle database. If the username & password match, it will sent a boolean true (1) to the Wism controller and if the username & password not match, the script will send boolean false(0) to the Wism controller.
My question is, can WiSM module talk to php script? Can it receive boolean parameter from php script?
I am planning to use a pair of Catalyst 3750 for QinQ over a L2 link (lan extension)
We neeed to have control over what vlans we propagate over this link and we want to avoid incuring costs for every aditional vlan we might need to add to the trunk that would connect to the QinQ provider switches
Our workaround for this would be to ask the provider to give us an end to end vlan that supports MTU-1504B (QinQ frame size) and connect our switches to this.
i have a Catalyst 2960S since 2 days. I am a new user, i like to configure the switch! my first problem is: i have 2 v LAN vlan1/24 and vlan200/24. I'd like to config port1 to be tagged on the 2 v LAN i know from hp port must be tagged. how can i config port 1 to be tagged on vlan1 and vlan200? and port 2 to be untagged in vlan1 and untagged in vlan200?
View 12 Replies View RelatedWe have a Cisco Aironet 1130AG Wireless AP (firmware 12.4) and have a guest wireless network (internet only) and corporate wireless network configured on it. They are kept separate by having different VLANs assigned to them. When a laptop connects to the guest network I see the DHCP request go out and it is tagged with the correct VLAN. The problem is when a laptop connects to the corporate network I see the DHCP request go out but there is no VLAN tagged on the packets. This causes a problem because both of our DHCP servers (on VLAN 1 and 3, remote DHCP servers no DHCP running on the Aironet [Doesn't seem like this version has a DHCP server]) are sending responses and sometimes the corporate user will get an IP address on the Guest subnet.
Our corporate network is setup on VLAN 1 which is configured as the Native VLAN on the Aironet. Will this cause the Aironet not to tag these packets with any VLAN information? Any other thoughts as to why it isn’t tagging these packets to a VLAN?
I intend to connect a network built around the WRT54GS to Internet by passing through a second network who is already connected to Internet through the Orange Livebox-2 (French).I have a traditional home network with basic shares on the French Orange Livebox-2 and its WiFi.The computers runs XP - Pro .My ADSL access is normally through the Livebox-2 (Range of addresses 192.168.1.xxx) and I run DHCP Working Group "WORKGROUP".It works without problem (Internet and VoIP telephony) except the Wifi of the Livebox which is known as poor (range and stability).I also manages a small "pedagogical workshop" for the school who visit my mill. This network is available to my young visitors based on a (tower) server containing the libraries and teaching materials and its printer. It’s XP - Pro machine. and to allow a maximum of two laptops be WiFi connected. The second network is built around the Linksys router (wich integrates no modem, simply a router). The WRT54GS router (rev 6) whose firmware is original Linksys up to date.I am setting the two Wi-Fi (Livebox 6 Cnl) and Cnl 4 on WRT54GS and different keys (this is manageable without difficulty). It has its server DHCP and Wi-Fi to connect their machine. What about the name of this second network group ? Currently “WORKGROUP” as well.I am setting a range different on the router WRT54GS (192.168.2.xxx) and enabled the DHCP.This "educational" network works perfectly when alone and separated from the "home" network and doesn’t get connected to Internet…I want to connect this router Linksys WRT54GS rev6 cascading through the Livebox-2. Share Internet via the Livebox-2 access. What about functionality? What is the connection to setup ?Should it be simple physical connection with a cable between the yellow ethernet port "2" of the Liveboxbox and the "Internet" connector of the Linksys router? Is this a good track to explore? I have searched extensively on the Internet but found proposals who are very old and refer to old Livebox... I did test and is not satisfactory...

We are trying to setup a WAP4410N with 2 SSID's. One SSID for our private network and the other for guest internet access. On the VLAN and QoS page there is a setting for priority. What would be the suggested values for this setting? We obviously want our private network to receive priority over our guest network. Also, does VLAN Tag setting need to be on Tagged to determine private from guest traffic?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am designing a network for my client where I have to implement a 10 Gig end to end connectivity. The major factor of concern from my management is about scalability (space to include more 10Gig servers as the nodes grow up). I have suggested Cisco 5596UP with 2232 PP as this gives ample amount of 10Gig ports. The setup has to be implemented across 2 different datacenters located 40 Kms apart, connected with 10Gig DC Interconnect.
I understand that Cisco Nexus 2232 is a Layer 2 Only switch and would need to communicate with parent 5K switch very frequently. Is it necessary to have the 2K and 5K pair in the same datacenter or in proximity? Is it possible to have the SFP uplinks connected to the DC interconnect? Because we have two datacenters located 40 Kms apart and having 1*Layer 3 - 5K switch at DC A with Layer 2 - 2K nexus Switch at DC B will be cost effective. We do require more 10Gig ports and not much requirement on Layer 3 usage. What are the type of communication that would be much frequent between 2K and 5K?

I have also connected all my other ethernet devices to the router so I don't have to keep unplugging them and replacing the ethernet cable in the wall socket. I can connect to the internet through the router but it's only allowing one device to be connected at once and the router is saying "no connection" even though I can connect through it. does this mean it's working as a switch at the moment, right? Would it be possible to make it work as a router so all my devices can work simultaneously and get the wifi to work?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI use an 1841 router as an internet facing firewall with a 10MB MetroE connection. Lately users started reporting slow internet download speeds and web pages timing out. Bandwidth reports do not show the link as being saturated so I looked at the interfaces on the 1841. The interface connected to the provider shows OK as far as errors but the LAN side of the router shows steadily increasing input errors. It doesn't show any other errors, no CRC, frame, runts, giants or overruns, just generic input errors. What type of errors are those? Nothing is being logged on the console.
I moved the connection to another switch ports and the errors continue. I switched it down to 10MB and also changed the switch and the errors slow down but don't stop. Interestingly, the switch side never shows any errors. What can I do here? I guess it can be a bad interface but that is such a rare thing that I am hesitant to replace the router.

All devices are interconected via optical 1Gb/s links. There is no QoS implemented on any device and all VLANs are allowed on all interfaces.
Also all links are trunks (with many VLANs)
In LAN1 there was a layer 2 broadcast-storm and 4000packets/s was comming to rest of the network (in one particular VLAN).
1) 7200 with G1 should be able to handle traffic up to 500Mb/s, but a lot of users experienced drops on traffic via 7200.
(CPU load was around 10%).
2) Why do I have input drops on 7200 on link toward 6500 if CPU was normal. Broadcast comming to this interfaces were cca 4kpps. But since it's destination is not on router these packets should be rejected on interface controller. Is that right? (7200 doesn't even has dot1q subinterface in that VLAN but since 6500 allow all VLANs on its trunk these packets reach 7200)
3) Why do I have output drops on Cisco 6500 (it is here as layer 2 device only)? It is max 160Mb/s in output direction. It has WS6724 card with DFC (there is no oversubscription).. Shouln't 6500 send traffic as fast as interface allows (up to 1Gb/s). Am I righ't?
4) After all how coul'd 6500 now if 7200 can't handle these traffic?Output drops should be only seen if QoS is enabled (i.e. shaping), or if there is oversubscription on the linecard?
I have connected the input cable of router to LAN port instead of INTERNET port and i got internet (some time only). due to that I caught by the authority and they are saying that change of port was the problem. Already there was a problem to our server (might be hardware problem).

I ran into a problem a few weeks ago and am still trying to figure out why either the 3560 switch or our Cacti syslog server did not alert us when one of our ports was experiencing heavy CRC and Input errors.
I had upgraded the IOS to 12.2(55)SE6 and rebooted the switch. About a week later, someone was troubleshooting why print jobs were having problems printing to a high speed printer. When I looked at the interface it showed a few thousand CRC and Input errors. I cleared the counters and had them print again and watched as the CRC and Input errors went up. When I did a "show log" there were no error messages. Looking at our Cacti Syslog there were also no errors present for the past 6 months.
We found that the device on the port was set to auto speed and duplex and the switch port was at 100/Full. Once we got them to match the problem was resolved, but we were left wondering why we never got any alerts.
We also have some 3548 and 3550 model switches that Cacti picks up %LINK-4-ERROR for any ports that show CRC and Input errors. I did some research and it appears that the 3560 switches do not have the LINK facility code. I believe it has been replaced with a PHY link code but I'm not sure. We do have some "%PHY-4-EXCESSIVE_ERRORS: Excessive FCS, data, or idle word errors found" but they are all for 3750 switches. I could not find any 3560 that had alerted for that error or the LINK error.
I also tripped port security on the 3560 switch just to make sure that it was reporting correctly to Cacti and that alert did show up.
My question is how do I get a 3560 switch to alert in the logging buffer for CRC/Input/FCS errors? Also, how I can generate CRC and Input errors on purpose for testing? I tried mismatching the speed/duplex/Auto and only got collissions, no CRC or Input errors.
