Internet Keeps Disconnecting And Then Reconnecting?
Nov 28, 2011
my internet keeps disconnecting and then reconnecting after for some reason. I am using wifi on my computer to connect to the internet and every other computer in the house uses same thing and works fine. But my computer keeps disconnecting and then reconnecting to internet for some reason. It just started a couple days ago. Sometimes it goes a couple minutes before disconnecting and sometimes it disconnects after a couple hours but it keeps doing it and is really annoying.
Like the title said i keep disconnecting and reconnecting from my internet every 5minutes i would say then reconnect in 30seconds. I am using wireless, but if i use a ethernet.
I am having problems with my wifi connection, it has been going on for a while now, i got it fixed by a computer guy but then i had to reset my entire computer and now my internet will stay on for about a minute or two and then disconnect again and so on but after a certain period of time (2-3 hrs usually) it will stay connected until my computer gets shut down.. I am on an Acer Aspire 5315-2822 i have disconnected the "acer empowering technology" and i know that has nothing to do with the problem because it was always disconnected when my internet ran steady. There are 4 other networks in my area, if that means anything? Not to mention im using windows vista.
My internet connection with 3 computer was gong strong for three years until this week. About every twenty minutes, the connection drops for someone and reconnects in 20 seconds.
btw- I don't know all the correct technical terms, so I will try to describe them as best as I can.
My internet at home keeps disconnecting. It disconnects when I go upstairs (we have a small house), it disconnects when I'm more than 5 meters away. Sometimes when I'm right next to the modem it disconnects. But not only does it disconnect, it also ask me once again for my internet password (as it is protected with one).
Things I've noticed:
-This has been going on for some while (about a year ... I'm a really patient person). It does it with my and my brother's macbook Pro (Mac Os X 10.5.8) but it doesn't with my father's Toshiba
-We switched to bell's fibre optic, so the modem should be working fine
-my internet works beautifully when I'm at my grandmothers house (who also has the new Fibre optic) and works well at my school's university
-Once a few months ago I decided to do some searching and found out that my computer kept changing some kind of IP name or whatever (not sure exactly what) but it kept saying: "BELL_account_name_0 has disconnected so it reconnected to BELL_account_name_1", and then _2, _3 once I found it was up to _150 !!
I am pretty handy with computers but I'm not used to Mac's settings. Everytime I try to do the Network Diagnostics sometimes it works first shot, sometimes I have to re run the same Diagnostics and it will work 20 tries later (like I said I am patient). But I know that Network Diagnostics is NOT THE ANSWER. It's just a temporary patch, I want to solve this problem completely so I won't have to deal with it in the future.
Ok so my internet connection has recently started disconnecting and reconnecting every 5 mins or so. It has never done this before and has started doing it out of the blue. It doesn't even appear to have cut out by the icon at the bottom but it does stuff like stop youtube videos from loading or when I am playing online poker or online gaming it will cut out for about 30 seconds before reconnecting again.
A couple of months ago my internet (Insight Broadband) began to randomly disconnect and reconnect, and recently it has become more frequent (every 5-10 minutes). I connect to my internet wirelessly through a linksys router. It's not my laptop because our desktop and xbox experience the same frequent disconnects and reconnects. I've tried the dns flush with no success. Ive also changed the wireless channel to 1 to prevent any interference. Also, our linksys router is about 4 years old, which could be the cause, but I'd like to eliminate all other possibilities first. And finally, every time i click diagnose connection I receive the error " Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding.
And just recently our internet has become very slow (youtube videos taking longer to buffer with many pauses). I eliminated the possibility of my router itself being at fault as when I plugged my xbox or laptop or desktop directly into the modem the same frequent disconnects and reconnects occurred. Here's a copy of my ipconfig /all: [code] Also, sometimes when I diagnose the connection I don't get this error but the random disconnects and reconnects still occur.for the past couple of days or so I'm no longer getting the first error message about a DNS server, however the disconnects are still occurring as often.
I got a new laptop (Toshiba Z830) last month and for the last few days my wireless internet keeps disconnecting and reconnecting after about a minute. It'll disconnect and say there's no internet (there's a yellow exclamation mark on the icon on the taskbar) and after about a minute it'll reconnect. I don't know if there's a pattern but I've noticed it keeps happening when I try to watch a video on youtube and sometimes at other times. No other device of mine is having any problems (desktop, phone, netbook), just my laptop.
Basically, my wireless internet has been disconnecting then reconnecting on weekends up to 50+ times a day. The weekend also seems to be the time when I have 10+ wireless connections in range. Can that be the cause of it? I have tried changing my router channels but to no avail.
I use a wireless network in Singapore through a router. For the past year or so, my wireless network keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. However, most often the wireless icon in the tray often makes no mention that the wireless has not disconnected. This same problem happens on my whole family's laptops no matter whether they use windows xp, vista, or windows 7. Occasionally my whole network disappears and i actually do disconnect and i can't find the network till i switch on and off my router.

The router is connected to the desk top that my husband uses,, his is not wireless but my laptop is. the laptop wireless connection keep disconnecting and then reconnecting on it's own. This just started a couple of months ago. At first I thought it was the router but my daughter came over with her laptop and as mine was connecting and disconnecting hers was just fine so that has led me to believe it is my computer... but what could it be? I have a wireless mouse and USB speakers plugged into my computer but nothing else and we do not have a cordless phone that could be interfering. could it be my cell phone? why would it have not been doing it all along if there were the case?
I have a D-link with both wired and wireless communication. Everything functions well except that Win-XP keeps telling me all the time that the LAN is disconnected.
I've been having a problem the past several days with my wired connection where every 2-3 seconds it will disconnect, then reconnect, then disconnect, and so on without stopping. There doesn't seem to be any reason for it, and it's not the internet connection but rather the physical connection that seems to be lost (the network will do the entire identifying...unidentified network > identified network thing).
Naturally, I've already tried upgrading my network card drivers + uninstalling/reinstalling when it didn't work. I've powercycled the router/modem and rebooted the comp, but I can't find any way to fix the issue. It's not a problem with the router, since this only happens on my computer, and the other computers connected to the router have no problems at all. Even if I disconnect the router and connect my computer directly to the modem, it still has the issue.
Normally I'd assume it was something wrong with my network adapter, but my computer has no problems connecting to a new router/network it's never been on before. This only happens with networks that my computer has connected to in the past.
Recently I've just been using the wireless connection since it was only the wired connection having issues, but a few days ago my wireless connection started doing the exact same thing. It'll disconnect/reconnect ad infinitum without stopping every few seconds, so it's impossible to get on the internet.
Here are the results of my ipconfig:

I've been otherwise very happy with my Linksys WRT54GL but have not been able to work from home without my work VPN from disconnecting/reconnecting multiple times throughout the day.
The IT guy said that a lot of people have issues with the older Linksys routers, and recommended I get something more modern. Assuming that is correct, what would be a good upgrade for me? I really don't want to spend too much time setting up the new router, but would love QoS if it comes out of the box. I have about 4 wired connections and about 6-8 wireless connections, on a 20MBit connection.
I have a USB Netgear WN111v2 that has been working perfectly up until now, it can't connect to the network and trying to manually set up the addresses, reinstalling drivers, and trying a system restore haven't worked. Even though the router has a lease for the computer on 192.168.1.11 it's doesn't work, although it will show that it's connecting, it won't ping anything, including the router... WZC utility is stopped?
My parents switched from comcast to uverse and I'm having problems staying connected to the 2wire router they supplied. my connection disconnects and reconnects making the internet nearly impossible to use
I have been using this for over a year with no problems and a couple of days ago, it started disconnecting and reconnecting constantly. I went and updated the firmware for it, but still the same problem.
I am having problems with my internet connection dropping every day, usually around 2-3 times per day. Internet goes off for a second or two and it comes back. Usually this wouldn't be a problem for me but I am a professional poker player and every time internet goes off, I loose all my active tables in poker lobbys (due to reconnect) which is unacceptable and a serious problem for me.
We recently moved in with some family, and we brought with us a Belkin N wireless Router. I set it up to their existing internet modem (I'm not sure what type it is or anything, I just know that the ISP is Optus) about halfway through January.
It's been working fine until Friday. Since setting it up, both my brother and I have (at different times) been playing Star Wars Battlefront II online. On Thursday night I was playing online fine, with no lag or anything (with a ping of about 138), however, ever since Friday it has been lagging non-stop. I have the same ping so I thought it must have been because we've gone over the limit for the month and the internet slows down.
However, every few mintutes (1 or 2 normally) the connection between my laptop and the network drops, and then within another few minutes connects again. I am running Windows Vista Business. My brothers laptop has the same problem, and he has Vista Home installed.
At first I thought it was a problem with the router, so I updated the firmware and restored the factory defaults, but the problem remains. When I get onto a website (if I'm lucky enough for the connection to stay) it normally loads pretty fast, so I dunno if we've gone over the limit or not (and I don't know the password to check).
I have a 5505 ver 8.2 connected to a router with a T1 internet connection. There was a problem with the internet service and when it was resolved the ASA did not pass traffic to the internet until it was power-cycled. Unfortunately that's all the info I have, as I was not onsite and couldn't access the ASA.
internet won't stay connected for more than 2-4 minutes at a time. I recently got a new modem, as recently as two days ago. It connects fine but within 2-4 minutes it disconnects then reconnects itself within 20 seconds. It's a plusnet modem and in the corner of my screen I have a little computer screen with 3 signals coming out if it which flash. It's called Wireless Network Connection Status. Beside it are 4 bars not too dissimilar to mobile signal. They too are green and when I click into it it's called Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility.
Haven't been here in a while after going to grad school. My internet keeps on getting disconnected, and I keep having to unplug the power cord, wait 10 seconds, and then it works again. But this has been happening quite frequently. Is it because I need a new router? It is Linksys SRX 200 router it says.
i recently bought a wireless USB adapter so i can connect to my router as my older one broke. The one i had before worked fine and was easy able to connect to my router with high connection, but with this new adapter i can still connect but have pretty low signal like 2 or 3 bars and whenever i try downloading anything or try watching films or just surfing the web for like 10 minutes it says limited access with a yellow exclamation mark on the signal bar and the only way to reconnect to the internet is to first disconnect and reconnect every time.
For the past couple of weeks my internet has suddenly disconnecting on almost a daily basis.Windows troubleshooting the problem always fixes it in seconds and I usually have no further problems during the day but it's getting annoying and I'd really like to know what the issue is and how to fix it.It happened again just now and Windows Diagnostics found the following problem: "Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration.I'm running Windows 7 and using an ethernet cable, no wireless connection.
About 2 weeks ago my router began acting up. It disconnects when I'm just browsing, downloading or streaming a video. I tried everything! I changed the channel on the router, resetted the router numerous times. I connected the ethernet cable from my pc directly to the modem to see if it was in fact my router and not the modem. My pc never disconnected once while connected to the modem. In order for me to download something or stream a video I have to connect my pc to the modem and it is becoming a pain!
i have 5 computers connected 3 are connected via Wifi and 2 are wired plus whatever device i have is on wifi veryday for the last 2 weeks my internet goes out every few hours. Yesterday i had internet all day until this morning when it disconnected again, in order to have my internet up again i have to reboot my router by disconnecting the adaptor.Heres the weird thing all of my computers internet goes down but the vonage service still works and iif i connect my PC directly to the Ubee modem my internet stays on without issue problem is i need vonage for my phone plus all my other computer in the house ive tried to renew and release my ip in my main rig which i guess worked a bit since when this problem started the internet would go off every 10-20 min after i did the renew release the internet stays on for atleast 3 - 6 hours?

Happens every few hours, but is fixed by reconnecting my router. Although this is inconvenient because I run an IRC chat and a small web server. I'm not sure if those would cause such a problem, but I hope not
I am connected to the router with a cable , a router which my internet provider supplied me with. The problem used to happen before , occasionally , but the disconnecting has drastically increased lately , and these days it has become unbearable , it occurs at least once every hour , especially when i'm playing a game online or so.The disconnects last very shortly , or until i reset my router or disable/enable my network in network connections.I have 2 more laptops in the house , connected via wireless , and they've had no issues with this. The first time these problems occurred i was able to fix it just by doing the windows troubleshoot, which lead to an error saying "Default gateway is not available".I found a lot of threads on the internet regarding this issue , and tried all of them but none seemed to work.
I tried downloading newest drivers from my motherboard site first , then from Realtek's site, then deleting old drivers via DriverSweeper aswell , just in case , but it did nothing.I tried changing the Speed & Duplex to 100mbp/s Full Duplex , which has solved the issue for some , but again it did nothing.I called my internet provider , was told to use static IP address and type it in manually and if it didn't work to try plugging the cable into another slot on the router ,And after all those things , i feel like the problems is even bigger now. I now no longer get the "Default gateway is not available" error , and the only solution is to reset router or disable/enable network , which leads to the network being "unidentified" for some time before it connects.
Got a problem with my connection, it keeps disconnecting every 10 minutes or so, usually at the same time every day. Lasts for a few seconds but does not show as an interruption to the line's uptime, nor is there a warning sign in the system tray (like what usually happens when there's a disconnection).-ISP says they do not see any problems on their end-Updated router firemware, no dice-Router is a Netcomm NB6PLUS4W modem/router-Tried with both wired and wireless connections, same problem
Whenever the phone rings or my mum uses it my internet disconnects, my modem router is attached to a DSL filter so I'm not sure why it's doing this. The phone thats connected to the DSL filter that the modem router is connected to is wired but we have two wireless phones in the opposite side of the house
I have a Dell laptop and the internet keeps losing connection for a minute or so all the time. Have checked internet connection, etc and seems fine. Also, I play Xbox online and it never losses connection when Im playing so can only think that it must be laptop.
My bb connection is very unstable and disconnects randomly whenever it feels like it. I have a master socket with one extention (slave I believe its called) however there is nothing plugged into the extention at all and my telephone and bb are connected to the master with a filter. After reading a few threads I have tried some tips which were to disconnect the bell wire (number 3), replace the faceplate, and filter with new ones and try another router none of which have made a difference. I have now removed the faceplate and plugged directly into the test socket. This definitely works and keeps the connection alive for longer sometimes a whole day but then it goes again but definately no where near as often, (she says as the Internet disconnects!)We have several things connected to to router which are up to 3 laptops using windows 7 and vista, up to 3 phones and 2 xboxes however these are never all connected at once but when the connection goes it disconnects all that are connected. I have also been with 3 different providers and this has been the same with all of them. The house is only 9 years old so I don't believe it can be that the wiring is too old but maybe that there is a dodgy connection somewhere?
