Linksys Wired Router :: BEFSX41 Web UI Access?

Feb 4, 2012

I've been struggling to resurrect an older V1 BEFSX41, which suddenly decided to suffer continuous collisions and loss of link.  Had been running for several years. I reflashed the firmware with TFTP to 1.52.16.4, and reset for 30 seconds, and re-powered.  I am unable to get any response form the web UI.  I can ping 192.168.1.1, and obviously push the BIN image to it, but the UI doesn't give any sign of life - not even an error - just blank.

Linksys Wired Router :: BEFSX41 Won't Allow To Clear DNS Entries?

Feb 17, 2011

I am trying to configure a BEFSX41 router which sits behind a Motorola SB 5120 cable modem. Somehow it now shows DNS entries on the basic setup page. Comcast advises me to zero out all those entries. When I make the attempt a message pops up saying the entry is invalid, and when I close the warning the entry reverts. The router is set to get its IP address automatically from the SB 5120.

Linksys Wired Router :: Firmware Upgrade For BEFSX41?

Mar 13, 2011

I have been reading posts on this board that state that after upgrading the firmware on a router that you must re-set the router and re-configure your connection. I have just downloaded and installed the latest firmware update for the BEFSX41 (1.52.16.4). When the installation was complete, my network connection dropped out. I then got a "searching for ip address" icon in my notification bar. The connection then completed and my network seems to be running as it should. When I check the set-up screen for the router, it shows the new firmware version. Do I still need to re-set the router? I'm a bit confused by all of this. I have Comcast cable for my isp.

Linksys Wired Router :: BEFSX41 V1 Or V2 For Firmware Upgrade 1.52.16.4

Mar 19, 2011

BEFSX41 Firmware Version to upgrade, version 1 or 2?

I've been using this router since 2006, upgrading the firmware to version 1.52.15 when released in 2007. At that time I think I selected the edition 1 rather than edition 2. Basing decision on the fact that the device had no indication of which model version was correct indicated on the manufacturing labels on the bottom. So I assume edition 1.

Is there any way to tell which hardware release I really have? Maybe by MAC address, or Serial number?

Have not had any problems with the 1.52.15 firmware version, however, I have seen numerous log entries for the following:

2011-03-20 11:45:23 ii=MAX_HTTPSESS2011-03-20 11:45:33 ii=MAX_HTTPSESS2011-03-20 11:45:39 ii=MAX_HTTPSESS

and

2011-03-20 10:53:09 UDP from 202.103.52.147:5060 to nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn : pppp(my ip address & port) followed by 2 to 10 of the following entries:2011-03-20 11:01:33 500 _upnp_Disable

the sending URL indicated as a PRC (Chinese) university with negative traceroute results, nothing really alarming as nothing is getting inside the firewall. Just packets dropped from the senders IP. I am keeping track of the pattern  and activity levels.

Will probably just block the whole addy range at the router firewall and PC firewall. AT&T is totally ineffective in blocking this sort of back alley activity.

I've seen only one brief and somewhat dated reference to the "ii=MAX_HTTPSESS" entry and will tackle that issue after updating the firmware to 1.52.16, I haven't found any authenticated tech references for this. I can only make some educated guesses on tweaking HTTP settings.

Linksys Wired Router :: BEFSX41 Firmware Upgrade Doesn't Finish

Jun 6, 2009

I'm trying to upgrade the firmware of a BEFSX41 wired router from version 1.43.3 (apparently the first revision after the original realease) to 1.52.15 (the latest I found), but I can't get it to finish. I'm using a Mac with all the latest versions of OS, Safari, and Firefox. When I use Safari to initiate the upgrade, it get's to the point where it says "Please wait ! Setup will take a few minute _____" and nothing else happens after that, even after waiting 30 minutes or more. When I use Firefox it gets to the same "Please wait" message, then a few minutes later Firefox displays an error message "Connection Interrupted: The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection.

Linksys Wired Router :: BEFSX41 - Slow Downloading And Uploading On UTorrent

I have an issue with slow downloading and uploading on u torrent with my wired router linksys BEFSX41. I thought it may be because I didn't set port forwarding on the specific ports the u torrent use.

But every time When I try to set new port forwarding rules on my router's control panel its asks me for a password and user. Although I know this password and user it will keep asking me about them without saving the new port forwarding settings.

Linksys Wired Router :: BEFSX41 Way To Determine Connection Speed On Internet Port

Is there any way to determine the connection speed on the Internet port?  It seems that it only running at 10, when both the router and modem support 100.

Linksys Wired Router :: BEFSX41 / Westell 6100G Modem - Setup And Configuration

Jan 10, 2012

I have the Linksys BEFSX41 wired Firewall router.  My ISP is Verizon DSL.  The DSL modem is a Westell 6100G.  I have the wall phone line connected to my modem.  The output of the modem is going to the input of my Linksys router.  I have two computers connected to the router outputs.  In order for me to see the output or configuration of my Westall modem, I have to go http://192.168.1.1.  In order for me to see the configuration of my Linksys router, I have to enter http://10.10.10.1.  When I look at the instructions for setting up and configuring my Linksys router, it never mentions the above 10.10.10.1 address, but instead it tells me to enter the 192.168.1.1 address.  I have never done this because when I powered both units for the first time, and it worked, I noticed then that my Linksys address was the 10.10.10.1.  Why is it then that none of the settings or instructions for the Linksys router never mention to enter the 10.10.10.1 address as oppose to the one the do call out to enter  which is the address for the Westell modem?  What would happen if both addresses on both devices were the same?

Linksys Wired Router :: Getting RV042 And RV082 Throughput?

Feb 17, 2008

I am currently using Netgear FVS338 Routers / VPN Devices in 3 different locations and honestly I am not happy / impressed with them whatsoever.I have been doing some research and came across the Linksys RV042 and RV082 devices that caught my eye. The question is what is the VPN throughput of these devices?I have gone over the website, spec sheets and they only really say the throughput of the LAN Links and not the WAN Links. I currently have very reliable 20Mb+ Synchronous connections between all 3 sites and have not been able to get any good performance out of the Netgear devices and contacting their support is a joke. They can't tell you anything other than it should work or we will swap out the unit. Well if I have 3 of them that have been purchased at all different times I don't believe that they are all having the same issues. What these units 3DES VPN Throughput and will more than likely be purchasing 3 of which ever once suits our needs immediately.

Linksys Wired Router :: Does RV042 Firewall Support Port Forwarding

Aug 5, 2011

I am using an RV042 router/firewall -- firmware v1.3.13.02-tm -- connected to a cable modem.I have one public address (WAN1) assigned by my ISP's DHCP server. All my machines on the LAN have static IPs.  (RV042 DHCP Server is disabled.)I have set up port (80) forwarding to 192.168.1.101. The HTTP port forwarding does work if an http client on the LAN sends a request to url...But I cannot get a response if I send a request to url... from a machine on the WAN.I did configure Access Rules to allow http traffic (and then tried to allow *all* traffic) between a single IP on the WAN and 192.168.1.101.

The incoming log table shows a connection is made from the http client on the WAN to the correct http server on the LAN, but there is no resonse from the LAN to the WAN.Is my configuration the problem, or is this feature not supported by the RV042 router?Could my cable modem be blocking outbound traffic?

Users have to wait something like a 30 sec for a website..I descovered that the reason for slow internet connection is DENY rule. After disbling DENY rule everything works fine..Now I have a few rules added to firewall:

Priority:1 Action: Deny Service: HTTP(80) Source interface: LAN Source:10.82.0.51-10.82.0.245 Destination: Any

Priority:2 Action: Allow Service: HTTPS(443) Source interface: LAN Source: 10.82.0.51-10.82.0.245 Destination: 80.64.59.42

Linksys Wireless Router :: Very Low WAN Throughput On WRT160NL

I recently bought a WRT160NL router. I have a 10/10 Mbps internet connection, but when I am connected via the router it only gives me ~2.5/1 Mbps speeds. Connecting my computer directly to the "wall" results in 10/10 Mbps speeds. I have tried connecting to the router both wireless and by wire, it makes no difference. The internal wired and wireless speeds are fine, as I have copied files over the internal switch and via the wireless network at relatively high speeds. I have not fiddled with any connection settings except creating a few permanent DHCP leases.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Can't Get Over Ca 10MB/s Data Throughput

Dec 27, 2011

I'm using E4200 (fw 1.0.03) as AP and EDIMAX 6675nD as a client. I can't get over ca 10MB/s data througput even there aren't any other communication loads. Test conditions are: 5GHz band, no other networks in the band, distance 2m without any obstacles, no other data transfers (except the test), data source is NTB on GLAN port of Linksys, data sink is NAS at GLAN port of Edimax, test file is 0.5GB file. The NTB and NAS doesn't seems to be a bottleneck, because NTB connected directly to the Edimax does over 50MB/s. Both the E4200 and 6675nD are (should be) capable of 450Mbit/s @ MCS23. Strange thing is that none of them allows setting of MCS23 in their manual settings. It ends with MCS15. While forcing the E4200 to a specific MCS (in the hidden wireless_advanced menu)  the MCS15, 14, 13 and auto give very similar results. The throughput drops by MCS 12 and lower indexed MCSs.The 10 MB/s seems to be a low number.... and (based on internet forums) I'm not the only one fighting the magic number 10MB/s. What is the reason of the ca 10MB/s bottleneck? And the resons why both of the routers are quiet about the MCS16 to 23 schemes in their menus, while their labels aren't?

When I swapped out the firewall the users noticed a big improvement. The firewall is not doing anything out of the ordinary - no IPS or VPN, just standard state full inspection.

It was so slow on my work computer, a pint to yahoo timed out.  The computers connecting to router are

I cannot connect any laptops WIRED to the router. Nothing has changed on the systems to restrict internet access. There is something wrong with the router and the WIRED ports. I tried going through the troubleshooting on this site but it was of little to no assistance. The Cisco Connect utility doesn't appear to accomplish anything either. My guess is because I cannot connect to the WIRED ports on the router to connect to the internet to allow for whatever troubleshooting that needs to be done.

Linksys Wired Router :: BEFSR81 Keeps Losing Wired Connection To WAP54G?

Apr 11, 2012

I have a WAP54G in my basement shop, wired to our main router upstairs, which is a Linksys BEFSR81.  I'm not sure if this is an issue with the WAP or the router.

I only use the laptop computer in the shop every couple of days, but I leave the laptop plugged in and on most of the time.  I used to have the power settings such that it didn't power down completely even after a long time.  With that setup, if i didn't use the computer for several days, it would find that the connection to the router had died.  The wireless link would report that it had a solid connection, but I couldn't connect to anything.  Power cycling the WAP always fixed this.

Recently, I decided to save some wear & tear on the laptop drive, and adjusted the power settings to go to standby after a couple of hours.   Now, it seems I can't even go one day without losing my connection.

I am running the latest frimware in the WAP, and the router is version 3.1.  I can't check the firmware version on the router at the moment, because the web interface is giving me a blank screen.  I know from past experience that I will have to power cycle it to get it to talk to me again.

In any event, it seems like the router connection to the WAP is timing out.  I set the router "client lease time" up to 10000 a while back when I first had this problem, but that is clearly not doing the trick.
