Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT120N Constantly Losing Connection
Apr 17, 2012I have a Linksys WRT120N wireless router that I have had for almost three years now. It recently has started dropping all internet connections very randomly, sometime multiple times in an hour. I will lose my connection to the internet and connection locally to other laptops then it will reconnect. It is also disconnecting when wired as well as I have a playstation using a wired connection out of the router and it loses connection all the time as well. What is causing this, I am pretty sure it is the router and not my internet service.

Feb 6, 2012I have 2 computers connected to the router (via cable). The problem is that have to reboot the router several times per day because one or both computers lose their internet connection. This happens regardless if one or two computers are turned on.

PCI Wireless Adapter Constantly Losing Connection?
Jan 24, 2012Im currently living downstairs from the router. Its in a "secure location." Long story short, the person I live with is very private about the particular room its located in. I know the router is a "N" model Linkys.I installed the software that came with the PCI adapter (NETGEAR N300) and everything seemed smooth, then I constantly kept dropping connection. I then assumed the driver needed updating so I uninstalled the driver and re-downloaded the recommended driver from the netgear website,Things to know:
-I don't do any heavy gaming
-When I disable and reable the PCI adapter driver from device manager I can reconnect to the internet rather quickly.
-When uploading a video to youtube I found the connection to be more stable, but slower. (could of been a coincidence)
Currently I've been running "TCP view" to try to find something in the background taking bandwidth. I searched all the applications that it lists and nothing seems to be abnormal.

Aug 15, 2012I called my internet provider to come fix the problem and my internet was working PERFECTLY. Until, it started to mess up again. I don't know, what's wrong with it AT all. The Linksys box is working fine, the ROUTER is working BUT, my internet keeps dropping and takes HOURS upon HOURS to come back on, UNTIL I reset the Linksys box. Then it stays on for a bit. A few hours or a few minutes then suddenly, "No internet access."

May 20, 2009I have a WRT320N router. It is hooked to a Comcast cable modem (Motorola SB5101). After using it for a few days, my Internet connection becomes very slow and I have to reset the router. Generally I get download speeds of 10+ Mbps, but then it slows to about 1 Mbps or less. One time I was only getting 300 Kbps.I'm using a wired connection when this happens, so wireless is not the issue. Also, there is no firmware update available for my router; 1.0.01 was already on it. The only settings that I've changed besides the password are related to the wireless.As soon as I unplug the router and plug it back in, it's fine again for a few days. At first I thought it might be my cable Internet connection, but because I'm not having to reset the cable modem?

Oct 11, 2012I have experienced some strange behavior of WiFi connection using WRT320N router. ISP provides me the internet in 2 modes (day and night). During day mode max speed is 24 Mb/s and during night 60 MB/s. Modem ADSL (Cisco EPC3010) is connected to Linksys WRT320N and on router is configured WiFi.Now issue. In the day mode everything is perfect. Cable connection gives me 24 MB/s and WiFi connection around 22 MB/s so not so bad. However when my internet speeds up to 60 Mb/s (cable connection via router gives exactly 60), WiFi connection instead speed up as well, just drop to max 17 Mb/s. I have tied several different settings on the router including changes in WiFi band, channel width, different channels (now channel is setup to 1 which is maybe not totally free but no so occupied) and others but unfortunately without significant improvement (in many cases connection just slowed down more).
And some details:
Wireless configuration (now)
Band: 2.4GHz
Mode: Wireless-N only
Channel Width: Auto (20MHz or 40 MHz)
Channel: 1
Wireless adaptor: Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 (I know that this doesn’t mean anything but Win7 shows that connection is established with speed 144MB/s)Router firmware and WiFi card updated to the newest version.

I have 2 desktop computers hardwired to the WRT54G and use 2 different laptops with internal wireless cards. All run Win XP Pro. I have spent numerous hours on the phone with Linksys support and always get the same response (reboot, unplug, reset, etc.)

Feb 28, 2011I have the WRT400N router and using windows 7 (on this computer). It works perfectly with any computer I use in the house (there's 3). As soon as I open a laptop, its connected. My iPhone (we have 2) and an iTouch, are a different story. They connect, stay connected sometimes for 5 minutes, sometimes 5 hours, then will drop the connection out of nowhere. It doesn't matter how close or far I am from the router. Sometimes I'll get a message that I have an incorrect password (which it's not, which is why it DOES work). Sometimes I don't get a message at all (on the phones I'll just notice its on E/3G). Now, looking through the database I noticed there is a program for the valet routers that lets you add the phones, yet this doesn't apply to mine.
The tech in live chat told me it was the phones. I know its not as I had a wireless modem before this, and I never once lost a signal or had it ask me for an incorrect password.

I'm using a Linksys Wireless-N router (WRT160N) with WEP encryption. I'm running two Windows 7 laptops, LG BluRay player, Apple TV, Xbox 360 (Wired) iPhone 4, and a iPad 2. It doesn't matter if I'm browsing the web, watching Netflix, or playing a game, the connection gets lost. As we speak it happened again. I have no clue on what to do. I've reconfigured it multiple times. Firmware has been updated months ago.

Aug 9, 2011I bought a Linksys router last summer for my PC and Xbox. The PC and XBox are hardwired into the router. About two weeks ago, my router began dropping connection throughout the day. Sometimes it happens 3+ times in an hour. Other times it works for several hours before it drops.I upgraded the firmware as one fix and did a hard reset of the router. Still drops connection.I changed the MTU to 1400 and it worked fine for several hours but then dropped again the next morning. Also, like others on the forums, when I changed the MTU and hit Save Changes, it just ran and ran, never timed out...but never showed that it finished the command to save (if you get my meaning).I downloaded the Cisco Wireless Magic program to troubleshoot. It tells the same thing everytime. Unplug your router for 10 seconds and start over...My PC sometimes flashes a warning when I am restarting the router that I am getting Limited or NO Connectivity.

I am runnong 1.0.04, have reset to factory, reflashed the 1.0.04 code and done a 30-30-30 reset (so far no drops since the 30-30-30 reset but we'll see).

May 12, 2013I've been having issues with my e2500 router. I've found my connection dropping occasionally both with a wired connection and wirelessly on other computer. My desktop is connected directly to the router via ethernet and I've been keeping an eye on my network preference pane. Every 10 minutes or so the connection will be lost and computer says the cable is unplugged. It then resolves after 2 minutes.
I'm running OSX 10.8, firmware 1.0.07. Done a factory reset, power cycles etc. Configured with Cisco connect and manually multiple times. I've swapped out ethernet cables just to be sure it wasn't a cable issue.
Internet is fine when I've got the computer hooked up directly to the modem. No connection issues.

Jun 14, 2012I recently upgraded my Wild blue internet service to the "Exede" system. When I kept losing the connection to my Mac Air book, the Wild blue service tech suggested that my wireless router (Linksys Wireless G 2.4 GHz router) was not robust enough to handle the increased "speed". They recommended I purchase a new router so I purchased the Linksys EA4500.
Now, after three weeks, the Linksys EA4500 router has stopped working. I am able to hook one of our Mac Books directly to the satellite modem to access the internet through an Ethernet connection. Finally, I finally reconnected my old Linksys Wireless G router to the modem to check to see if it would work and it does.
So, I'm wondering about the failure rate of the new Linksys EA4500 routers? Is there anything else I might try to get my new router to work??? I have unplugged it for an hour and then re connected it. I have pushed the reset button..My wireless indicator on the Mac Book Air shows full signal strength, but I can't connect to the internet with my new (less than 3 weeks old) router.

Jun 26, 2011I have a brand new E4200 constantly losing internet connection (both wireless and wired). I have a ADSL connection to the internet, last router I had did not have the same issue. I also have a Cisco ASA 5505 for work connected to the ADSL modem and is not experiencing any disconnect issues. All computers connected to the router is losing internet connection, local lan keeps working. The internet connection gets back again after a 10-15 minutes or when resetting / turning off the router.
I have tried the following;
Changed ethernet cables
Disconnected the ASA 5505
Turned off wireless
Upgraded the firmware
Reseted to factory settings

I tried connecting my laptop directly to the twc modem and the connection is fine, while if I connect to the E2500 v1.0, through wired or wireless connections, I see that the connection is going back and forth.I tried resetting the modem and the router, upgrading the wireless router firmware, but nothing worked.
