i have 3 home computers using the same wireless router. 2 of them have no problems detecting and accessing internet. one computer can access at times, but many times cannot detect network. i have tried restarting my modem, the router, my computer etc. at times, it works, at times it doesn't. at times, it is ok, at other times it is not.

I currently have an Airport extreme hooked up to a cable modem and a leviton gateway hooked up to the Airport. The 2 computers connected to the Leviton are on a windows 7 homegroup and share fine, but won't share or discover any wireless device connected to Airport. My main goal is to have a wireless/wired network with all computers sharing information with each other. I want 2-3 wired switches/gateways with a min of 2 devices connected to each, connected to my wireless router whiich is connected to cable modem.

Most stores have several ISP accounts setup as failover, so they're not always active on our network but the ISP should still be up. He would like this to run from one of our servers. He is suggesting the 'gateway' for the ISP however I am not sure how to find this IP. The tracert utility returns IP addresses which are different than the gateway address in our router settings so I am wary to use those IPs.Which IPs would I ping to monitor the uptime and where would be the best place to find them?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAlthough we have a moderately wired house with cat6 cables runs in many of the rooms that all end in the basement, I am currently having trouble since I cat stream audio and video files from my desktop in the den to the netbook and receiver in the family room. All computers are hooked up by cable.I have tried a friends advice to plug in the exact IP address of the desktop (and vice versa on the netbook) but still the netbook cat find the desktop nor can the desktop find the netbook. I have tried home sharing in Windows 7 to no avail as I have been prompted to initiate a home network both on the netbook and the desktop when I think it is suppose to be initiated on one machine and same home network joined by the other.DSL Modem --> Linksys WRTGL router running Tomato --> switch -->various rooms (cont.)Family room (one of the various rooms) has a Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH AirStation (with one USB port) --> 1) netbook and 2) Denon AVR receiver (with network capabilities)I have a switch in the den and the desktop and laptop computers can read off each other through folder/drive sharing even with Kaspersky Internet Security running in the background so I'm sure it's not Kaspersky meddling with my network sharing. If both are on the wireless network, the netbook can access the desktop and vice versa.Is it possible for the netbook to read off the desktop based on my current set up? I can't bring the desktop down as we use them in the den and will not have room for it in the family room. I am not inclined to purchase a stand-alone HTPC at the moment if there is a network sharing

The game will work perfectly if I connect my Laptop to the modem directly and bypass the Wireless. However if I try to play the game while connected to the wireless then my friend is unable to connect to the game. We have reset the router and restarted the laptop countless times yet the only internet access we have is on the computer the router is hooked up to.The wireless connection works neither on the laptop nor the Wii, both previously works merely hours ago and with no problems until now.We assume there is an issue with the router itself, whether it be a loose ethernet cord (which only faintly can be moved in its place).It's almost as if the router is stopping them (Wii, and laptop) from having access. When we explore the wireless internet properties on the laptop, it shows the wireless connection, yet only there and doesn't give access to it. Could it be the router, or could the company have restricted WiFi only to the computer it is hooked up to?

I looked in the router setup to find my current public ip address from Comcast say its 98.221.99.99. If I am on the same network as the machine that is receiving the port forwards, and I type http:// 98.221.99.99 in a browser, the forwarding works fine.If I am external/not on the same network, typing http:// 98.221.99.99 in a browser times out. I have tried http:// 98.221.99.99:9000 too (9000 is the port I need forwarded) and that doesn work either.But, I do have remote management enabled for the router and if I am external/not on the same network and I enter http:// 98.221.99.99:8080 in a browser, I get the router login screen and can enter my user name and password and login to the router just fine.
