Apr 19, 2011I want to share the My Documents folder from an XP machine with ONLY one user (the administrator) on a networked Win 7 machine. I have turned off simple sharing on the XP machine. I hate XP!! So complicated to do anything. Anyway, under security, I have tried share this folder, and not to share folder. I have gone into Advanced and messed around with permissions, taking out Everyone, using Admin only, using Network. At one point I ended up not being able to access My Documents on the local computer and had to jump through many hoops to change ownership and disable read only so that the user could use her own files!The problem is, under Advanced in the permissions area, I cannot see the users on the remote pc to choose which one should be allowed access. how to actually find a particular user on the Win 7 pc and give ONLY that user permission to read (not to change) the files in My Documents on the XP pc.

The problem we are experiencing is when a folder is created by user A, it cannot be moved by user B (and vice versa), as it says the folder is in use.The exact error is: Error Moving File or Folder.Cannot move <filename>: Access is denied.Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.I have explicitly set full control for both users on the folder. The drive has 70GB of 500GB remaining. I have also used File Server Management to verify the files were not in use when they were being moved.The server is Windows 2003, SP2. Domain environment, with all relevant users having permissions on the folder, and the everyone account removed. Any other operation inside the shared folder works fine.

Sep 23, 2011I've been running WHSV1 for at least 3 years now without any problems. Upgraded my client to Windows 7 and stream movies etc.. no issues at all. I gave "guest" account enabled with full access on the WHS server machine and just mapped theshares on my laptop..Anyway, I did some updates on my windows7 laptop and now the computer can no longer see the "server" machine."Server" appears in "other devices" in windows explorer but I can't do anything with it. Just takes me to a page server.com by godaddy.Also, I can no longer use RDP from within my own network! Says the SERVER machine does not exist.I can log in to the server just fine using logmein.
Also, made sure the windows machine has the network that it joined set to "home." I've had a similar problem years ago when I used to use zone alarm but I don't know how to fix it now. It's as if a firewall is blocking it or something.

Cisco VPN :: 5520 AnyConnect Can Auth A Machine And Then A User?
Aug 10, 2012We are rolling out a new VPN infrastructure utilizing ASA 5520's (one active/standby cluster at each of our two sites) and making the conversion from the old IPsec client over to AnyConnect 2.5 clients. We do have AnyConnect Premium licenses at both sites, but are not utilizing ISE. What we want to do is first auth the machine that's trying to initiate the AC VPN session to determine if it a company-owned machine (with the idea that only co-owned machines can connect), and then auth the user using RADIUS, which uses attribute 25 to assign them into groups for policy application. We have the RADIUS piece working now, but is there a way to first do the machine auth, and then the user auth? We don't just want to use something like cert-based VPN because if the machine gets stolen (or a non-co user otherwise gets into the OS) then we don't want the non-legit user to be able to establish a VPN session just because they have access to a company machine. The other rub is that the machine auth solution must be cross-OS compatible (we use a mix of Windows, MacOS and Linux on the machines that should be allowed to VPN.)

- On ACS we were doing 802.1x Authentification over an Activedirectory, assigning Vlan according to computer/user group. In some case the user vlan could be different from the computer vlan (ex admin account connecting to a user account). This works great with ACS.I tested the same function with ISE and the behaviour is a bit different :
- When the computer boot, I can see the computer account being authenticated on ISE. The logs show the AD groups the computer belongs to and the Authorization profile is well applied according to the AD group.
- When the user login, I can see the user account being authenticated on ISE, BUT the logs show the AD groups of the previous authentication, the one belonging to the computer not the user. So the authorization profile is the one from the computer not the user.
It seems that the AD group attributes are not well updated :
- AD logs show the second authentication doesn't engage a new group parsing from AD
- Shutting down the switch port when user is logged engage a new authentication a AD group are well updated.
- Bug toolkit reference the same bug but for WLC CSCto83897 so I suspect it's present in other case.

With Centennial we could switch between user accounts without closing sierra wireless manager but when I switch to another user now, a message comes up saying vzaccess manager running in another account and we cannot use the internet until we have shut it down in the account it is running in - which is a pain. Aug 2, 2011I have a strange error on my home network that I cannot find a solution to.I have an Huawei SmartAX MT882 from TalkTalk acting as a modem connected to a D-Link DSL-G624T acting as a router/switch. Connected to the D-Link I have a Windows 7 Pro machine (64-bit, SP1) and an XP (home i think) machine (sp 2 i think).The SmartAX modem is set up to perform DHCP and DNS relaying and the D-Link has DHCP turned off and DNS relay turned off.The Win7 machine can access the network, get an IP address and access the internet without problems, regardless as to the status of the XP machine.The XP machine can access the network, get an IP address and access the internet with no problems ONLY of the win7 is powered up. When the win7 machine is off, the XP machine seems to drop about 25% of the ping packets between it and the D-Link router and has no internet access (because of this i assume). [code]

Jul 20, 2011New Win-7 machine set up. I used the printer set-up wizard to install a networked printer in the new machine with absolutely no problem. Proved it would print from that machine.Now, I get a call informing me that her old XP machine, which had been printing to the network printer with no problems, will no longer print.Documents go into the print queue, but they don't get printed.No error messages show up.I did some messing around via remote access, and finally removed the printer with the intention of reinstalling it.Scanning for network printers turned up several redundant instances of the same printer with different names. Some are identified as "invalid" some a "access denied". Bottom line. I can't get any of the selections to install.On the Win-7 machine I did find a window that indicated that the printer is designated as being shared, but I didn't explicitly set it for sharing when I installed it. Also, I somehow got to a window that told me that for printers that were to be shared with other versions of windows I could optionally install drivers to support such machines. Didn't have the driver disk handy and took the window down. Now I can't even find it again.I need sorting this all out.Part of the problem is that out there in "network land" there are redundant remnants of previous installations that are being remembered inappropriately.

And the networking system is set to work. I have left the homegroup I was previously in. I enabled file sharing for devices that use 40 bit and 50 bit encryption. On XP I have enabled NetBios over TCP/IP. File sharing is enabled on both computers. I think it's something obvious as both instalations on different computers are really fresh and both windows haven't been tampered with.
