I'm trying to set up a website filter on my DIR-601. I created a policy for 2 MAC addresses, with a schedule from 10AM-6PM, selected "Block some websites", and disabled logging. Under website filter, I added some entries, and selected "DENY computers access to ONLY these sites". When the policy is enabled, and I try to access one of the blocked websites, it gets blocked correctly ("The URL access was denied by administrator.") However, for all other websites, I get "server unexpectedly dropped the connection" errors, eg "Safari cant open the page [URL] because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again." or in Chrome "No data received. Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data." This happens with ALL non-blocked websites. I'm using hardware version A1, firmware version 1.01NA.

I am trying to filter her website visits. I have a list of sites blocked at the router, but sometimes the ipod gets around this. I set the ipod to a static ip. Now is there anyway to block certian websites to this IP only?can't with laptop but can with the ipod via facebook. I thought I read someplace that you can block sites to a users static ip or mac address. I haven't been able to find it in my router settings. Im using a netgear wnr2000v3.

We have a Cyberoam CR15wi hardware firewall at my company and it seems to be interfering with FTP to our website. I won't go into precise details but Filezilla, Dreamweaver 5.5, and GoLive CS's FTP utilities all will put a file up onto our web hosting company's server then indicate that the server didn't send a response so it assumes the file never got there. The file does in fact get uploaded intact though so it seems the server's response itself is the thing that's getting blocked. This problem occured with two different web hosts and FTP works perfectly with the same software and same FTP settings from my home connection so it's definitely us.

I've been trying to open ports 5800 and 5900 for UltraVNC and checking them with online port checkers, but they are always listed as closed. I've even tried taking town windows firewall, my router firewall (although as soon as I disable and apply, it automatically switches back to enabled again), and also DMZ'ing my router. I wonder if it might have something to do with my new modem, but in the config page for that, the advanced settings are locked out. the modem is an arris TM722G, and the router is a linksys wrt-54G with DDWRT firmware.
I'm running windows 7 x64 and using a static local IP, I want to be able to use DynDNS to connect to UltraVNC.

We are trying to get Teamviewer to work on our WAN, from the log traffic from the PC's to our Cisco IronPort Web Filter it looks like the ASA Firewall is blocking the traffic. We have opened everything we can open on our Cisco IronPort Web Filter and I have a Cisco TAC case open and they said it appears the ASA Firewall must be blocking the traffic.

We use SecurityMetrics as our vendor for PCI compliance scanning. Of all our servers, only the video server fails their scan, and this is their result: "This scan is inconclusive. Though your server had open ports, we were unable to connect to any of them successfully. There is a high probability that some type of firewall or scan-detection software is blocking us from accurately scanning your server. Please configure any firewall or software that would interfere with our scans to allow all traffic from SecurityMetrics" Our streaming video server is our only public-facing server that has port tcp/udp 1755 open (for the mms protocol). All our other servers behind this firewall pass the test, but they only have standard email and http ports open. I am assuming that their scan of port 1755 triggers some sort of threat detection on the ASA. (I have "Basic Threat Detection" enabled only.)

We have an ASA 5520 in HA. (version 8.X upgraded to 9.1 (1))We used Wizzard to configure VPN clientless and portal. Also, configured manually we have the same issue: We can access to the portal using IP address of Lan interface but not with outsides (2 ISP). The clientless VPN is enable on the public interface and no packets rejected in logs.We try to modify the Crypto map created by default to replace "any" to "any" by "any" to "our public IP" (We see that is recommended by Cisco) It works for 10 minutes.(strange..) but after 10 minutes the active member crashs.. only a reboot with previous configuration was good.We try to investigate but each time we modify Crypto maps, the firewall is going bad.

I have an ASA5510 with 8.3 and a Cisco PIX525 (retiring). The ASA was for VPN traffic only while the PIX was for all other Internet traffic. I'm trying to move all the traffic to the ASA5510 so I used the PIX to ASA migration tool. I migrated the PIX rules over to the ASA5510, however we can't receive email and there is no external access to our internal websites. But the VPN connections remain intact and internal users can get out to the internet.
When I run Packet Tracer on my outside (incoming rules) the packets are dropped at the inside interface. What am I missing?

I've just bought a ASA 5505 to project my LAN. I've already use Cisco router in the past but it's the first time with ASA line.Everythings work except one major point, the return traffic is blocked by the system… I don't really understand how the zone based firewall is supposed to work but it seems OK by default, my LAN side is allowed to talk with the Internet but Internet is not allowed to directly call my LAN. The NAT is setup to use the IP of my outside interface. When I try to ping a public server, the ASA debug log show me that the communication can go out the network, with the good translation, then go back to the ASA from the public server and here, the ASA block it because the communication is not allowed.I've only found two workaround:
-allow inside trafic with static rules, and I say NO ;
-disable the zone based feature by settings all zone to the 0 level…
How I'm supposed to make my state-full firewall work with zone based feature?

I manage to configure the firewall 5505 so that it can ping between outside and DMZ and also between DMZ and inside.
Outside and Inside are not accessible to each other because Outside No Forward to Inside.
My purpose now wants to access the shared folder by Windows Explorer ( under Network ) between for example DMZ and inside. I tried to do it but cannnot even see the Host of the other party network. For example, if I open Windows explorer at DMZ, I can't see the Host at Inside Network. Same as I open Windows Exploere at Inside, I can't see also the Host at DMZ network.
How am I configure so that I can access the hsot as well as shared folder of two sites which already can ping each other?

For some reason there are some sites that I cannot access websites from inside interface. One such example is lxer.com where I am receiving this message in the browser:The connection has timed out The server at www.lxer.com is taking too long to respond. This has "suddenly" happened, and so I am wondering what others have done when such things has happened. My outside has a dhcp-IP, and I have noticed that this address had changed, so I corrected this in my router settings.ASA version is 5505
These are my settings:

I have a LAN with several linux boxes (Fedora 17, both 32 and 64 bits), as well a a WInXP box. All of these are connected to the same switch, which is connected to the inside port of my PIX 515.
For a few sites (mozilla.org happens to be one of them), for http access, the tcp connection is established, but the "GET" request - or anything else for that matter - will not go through the PIX (from inside to wan). I have verified this by first, using wireshark to watch the packets being sent out from the client box, then by using the trace function in the PIX to see that the packets ARE arriving at the inside interface, but ARE NOT sent out of the wan interface.
This is for the linux boxes ONLY. When I do the same thing with my WinXP box, all works: in the PIX trace, I see the packets arrive at the inside interface, and leave the wan interace. And access to these sites are okay.
(What's a bit weird, although somewhat expected, when I connect my android phone to my LAN via WiFi, it too is unable to reach those sites - but then again, android is linux, right?)
In addition to the tracing, I have narrowed this problem down by connecting a linux box directly to my DSL router, then replacing the PIX with a simple router/gateway. Both of those solutions work.
Some background:
I have been using this PIX for about 10 years now, with the same configuration (except IP addresses). Only in the last several months has this problem started to show up.
I got this pix from a dead company at a really great price (free), so I'd like to keep it, and not have to spend money on something else. I don't have any support license, and have not been able to get any software upgrades. Here is its version info:
taz(config)# sho ver
Cisco PIX Firewall Version 6.2(2)
Cisco PIX Device Manager Version 2.0(2)
Compiled on Fri 07-Jun-02 17:49 by (code)
Serial Number: 405200362 (0x1826ddea)
Running Activation Key: 0x38ac31f3 0x0630df47 0x9a77b805 0x8bc39a60
PS: Since this PIX is at its end of life, I was wondering if any of the software upgrades would be now available without a license?

I have 3 3560 switches which are configured with trunks between them. They run vlan 10, 11 & 12. I have a 'core' switch (switch 1) of these 3 to which an MPLS router is connected on vlan12. I in addition have another switch hanging off the 'core' switch via a routed link (switch 4). I have EIGRP configured as a stub and as such the IP address on the routed link at the core switch end is of a /24 from v lan 1 on the other switch. This makes the route directly connected and therefore distributed via EIGRP stubs. Switch 1 is then exchanging routes with the MPLS router (via EIGRP).
The problem I have is that from any sub net on any switch (switch 1, 2 or 3) I can ping 192.168.13.1 (switch 4). When I try and ping switch 4 from over the MPLS I am unable to. If I trace to the switch I see it reaches the outside of the MPLS router, but is then unresponsive. The same applies if I try to ping switch 1 on 192.168.13.2. Any of the other IP addresses of switch 1 respond.
The MPLS network is a managed solution to which I have no access. I'm told that the MPLS provider is able to ping switch 1 & switch 4 on the 192.168.13.x addresses from a remote router (192.168.32.2). I have tried from a switch on the same L2 sub net (192.168.32.1) and I don't get a response.
From switch 4 I am able to ping the switch on 1 of it's interfaces (192.168.19.1), but not the interface I mentioned above 192.168.32.1. There are no access lists in place on the switches and no firewalls between the sites.

I'm in a bit of a predicament. Trying to set up a Netgear WNDR3700 behind a SonicWall TZ170 SP (Standard OS). The only thing I really want the SonicWall to do is maintain site-to-site VPN connections to a few other networks that I work with.
The SonicWall WAN is passing Internet connectivity to the LAN ports as it is supposed to but the hangup seems to happen at the Netgear; it doesn't seem to want to receive Internet connectivity from anything but a modem and it doesn't want it going to any port but the Internet port (IE, it doesn't seem to want to share Internet via the switches).
I'm thinking this may be a limitation of the firmware and that dd-wrt might be the only answer but I thought I'd bring it here first as my last experience with dd-wrt wasn't a good one.

I have Windows Server 2008 R2 set up to allow a vpn connection based on certificate verification. All traffic in my office get routed through a Netgear FVS318 Firewall in which I forwarded all the prerequisite ports to the Server. However, whenever I try to connect from outside the office Windows 7 reports that it either cannot establish a communication with the remote server or that the required Certificate is not installed. I verified the sslcert hash on the Server against the Certificate I installed at home and they match. I can ping both the dyndns and the IP of the office with no problems from home. Or does the firewall not allow vpn connections since it has the ability to host them itself.

I recently bought a Netgear Pro-safe VPN firewall. I have 3 or 4 Xbox consoles on my network. After a few days i got multiple complaints that the users kept getting disconnected from Xbox live after i installed this firewall. I have noticed that it only does it to the xbox, computers and laptops are working great. I also noticed that, 5 or 10 sec. before the router goes out. The firewalls indicator lights all light-up at the same time. Then it resets and the connection restores itself. It happens mostly when using Netflix through the xbox. I have tried port forwarding but it seemed like it made it worst.

They have a NETGEAR ProSafe VPN Firewall FVX538 on 192.168.1.1. They have 2 different wi-fi routers, one is static at 192.168.1.4, the other is not static.Someone donated a Linksys Wireless-B Broadband Router. They asked me to set that up. But i cannot get to the home page to change the IP address. 'multiple routers' it says to simply unplug one, so you can get to the config page at 192.168.1.1. I can not unplug the main router for the business, right? Do i need to change the IP of the Netgear temporarily? Will that bring down the network?

I am new to Cisco products. We have currently got a Netgear FVX538 running in front of a few servers. We currently have 2 ranges of IP addresses provided to us on 2 separate subnets. We configured the netgear box with the first IP addresses of each subnet as the IP address of each of the primary and secondary LANs. This then allowed us to set the gateway addresses of servers on the network to either of those 2 addresses, depending on it's range.
This all worked fine - except for the fact that the Netgear box is incredibly flakey, so we decided to get a Cisco box.
We have gone for the SA520, which I have been trying to configure this afternoon. Unfortunately I am now having concerns as to whether it is possible to configure 2 separate subnets internally on this box in the same way we have done with the netgear box. ie - classical routing, one incoming WAN interface with multiple subnets?
