TP-Link 300Mbps Wireless :: WR1043ND USB Support Of NTFS Drive

Hardware Version : V1
I have a 300GB Seagate SATA drive in a Vantec USB case devided into 3 partitions (volumes as the router wants to call them) connected to the USB port on my TL-WR1043ND touter. This setup works great most of the time, but ocassionally (maybe once every 2 weeks) all 3 WIN 7 Network Maps to this drive fail. Rebooting the router does not fix the problem, BUT going to the USB settings of the html support page and Stopping then Starting the service fixes it every time.
I tried to connect a WD MyBook Essential 3tb hdd NTFS, but it never recognized it. Of course, I connected it with the external power supply. With a 15gb pendrive FAT32 it works OK.

Everything is set up in the router software. The tuner detects the USB drive as a UPnP device, shows the directories I've set up for media share. If I select an AAC or FLAC file to play, the tuner loads it and plays. If I select an MP3 file, it loads, shows it as 100% buffered -- and hangs. Every time. The other devices on the router's network (wired desktop, wireless laptop, wireless tablet) can load and play the MP3s along with the other file types from the same USB-connected drive. That's why I figure the router isn't causing the problem.

I just upgraded from my factory default and found network sharing of my USB HDD was no longer working. It came down to two bugs in the latest firmware:Even though there is now the option to share without a password that option does not work and you still need a password. And that password is the factory default of "admin" even though I have set my own password.

The router is not showing my external hard drive in the usb settings. The Hard drive is a seagate 7200rpm 1.5tb. The hard drive works just fine when plugged into my computer. I have tried NTFS and EXFAT. My 2gb usb drive in FAT32 shows up just fine. The external has its own power supply. Is there anything I am missing that would cause it to not work?

Connection to a router on a cable speed of dowstream-50MBit/s, upstream-3Kbit(!) wifi-dowstream-50MBit/s, upstream-3KbitA cable directly in the personal computer to 70 Mbps there and back.Measured speedtest.net, and as [URL] The matter is that even elementary with an investment it is impossible to send mail - I am connected by different devices-2 of the laptop and 2 smartphones - the same. Technical support of provider already talk sense only in a router. Insertions updated, changed - the same( Firewalls are disconnected, any more don't know what to do and where proceeding speed and all digs-is killed. Russian forum TP-Link is idle.

I just got one of these to replace my old wrt54g. Seems to me a lot of people are flashing theirs with dd-wrt or openwrt. I was wondering why exactly. Unlike the old wrt54g, the tp-link stock firmware supports a lot of features in my view, especially the so wanted QOS. Do the CFW give the wr1043nd more stability or maybe better performance? Or is it about features? What features a CFW would add to the stock fw?

My house has thick internal walls, so WiFi does not propagate easily. I am fortunate to have FTTP. Therefore I have the following setup: At one end of the house there is a Genexis HRG1000 Fibre Optic Modem / Router with WiFi and 4 ethernet ports. One of its ethernet ports links to a Devolo 200Mb homeplug and there is a matching homeplug at the other end of the house which is linked to a WR1043ND. We have tried two configurations each with various settings. If we link into the WAN port it creates a separate network which cannot be seen from the fibre modem end (since the 196.168.1.n addresses are non-routing) and although this works, we cannot stream / transfer files from the PC (connected to the fibre modem by ethernet) to the smart TV connected to the WR1043ND. The TV can "see" the internet and things like iPlayer work. Various other gadgets can connect either by ethernet or WiFi and get successful internet access. Alternatively If we link into one of the LAN ports, AND disable both the DNS service and the DHCP server in the WR1043ND it all appears as one network, but although it is disabled, all the gadgets and computers try to use the DNS in the WR1043ND rather than that in the fibre modem and consequently there is no internet connectivity. We have tried several combinations of fixed and dynamic IP addresses, rebooting the WR1043ND and the PC etc. but nothing seems to work. What does work is giving both WiFi routers the same SID and password so that moving from one part of the house to another with, say, a smart phone transfers what connectivity there is seamlessly.

my new TL-WR1043ND. I've just installed the usb print driver for my HP PSC 2355 and it works fine for the PCs.Currently i'm wondering if i have any chance to also print using my iDevices (iPhone & iPad) in an AirPrint like way? The devices are connected via WiFi.

My router is a TD W8960N v3 which isn't listed here.I've connected a Synology 110j to the router and need to sort out the port forwarding which I'm not much good at. I am finding the TP Link documentation. I did find the page on DMZ but I don't know what that is.

I own a TL-WR1043ND. Until recently it has been working like clock work but after a power cut it seems to have lost its settings. Currently there is a WiFi network: both my iMac and my MacBook Pro manage to create a network between them and i can access / transfer files from one to the other without any problems what so ever. My Gmail app on my iPhone also updates emails on this same network. But when i try to browse the web on both Safari or Firefox or check my email on Mail (OSX email client) I am not being allowed to do so. Its as though there is not internet connection. The same thing is happening to my wife when she is using her Nexus 7.
Unfortunately i have lost my DVD with the setup files and I am there for not managing to access the settings of the router. I have tried searching the web to find the downloadable software but it turns out the only ones that i found are for Windows only. The only way to access the web and update my emails etc is when i connect to the modem via Ethernet cable.

I'm sort of used to everything failing every 2 days when a new device shows up due to the DHCP timeout issue that I've posted a workaround to. However, after rebooting everything, NOTHING worked. At all.I could get to the Admin page too.The DHCP address to my Comcast modem was 0.0.0.0 etc.The TP-Link "Detect" feature started saying Comcast was issuing me a "Static IP" instead of "Dynamic".Now, I can get an address from the Modem to my PC.So I cloned the PC's MAC ID.If I reboot the TP-Link 5 or 6 times, it might pick up the Comcast IP once, but no routing happens to the internet.I did try putting the static IP address into the TP-Link to see if I could fake it into getting online temporarily, but no.
And... after hours of troubleshooting last night, the router will not hand out DHCP addressed to any LAN equipment any longer either.Even, if I plugged in my laptop (which worked on the Comcast modem), the IP address it received from the TP-Link was the Comcast Public IP!Not a NATed / DHCP IP address! so I Factory Reset the TP-Link via the Admin page AND via a paper clip at least 4x.There were also no thunderstorms. Both the router and the modem are on a UPS / surge protector. The house is not (usually) haunted.I did try the new Beta firmware but that didn't fix anything.I also "upgraded" to DD-WRT.

I have a T L-WR1043ND v1.9 with the latest factory firmware that I recently purchased. Ran fine for a couple of weeks. Now my WAN connection seems to be dropping. I get an IP and DNS from the ISP but I cannot ping anything (google etc...) past the router. I have to hit the detect button or release and renew the IP in order to gain access. Then after a few hours or a day the issue reoccurs.

I have tried to go through the tech support email but no dice. My router disconnects every two days. The sys light will stay solid and require a reboot and my computer connected to the router will be unaffected . I have a 30mb connection with only 2-3 wireless clients on at the same time as the wired. The response I got from tech support email after waiting almost a week without a response was :
Because there's not much we can do to fix the problem right now and TL-WR1042ND is more competent for your network, I suggest you to change for it.
If you still don't wanna change for TL-WR1042ND, change for a new TL-WR1043ND to have a try."
This is answer I get after already asking once why they want me to downgrade for a different router . What exactly the TL-WR1042ND is going to do for me that the one I have won't,but I cannot get a answer.I have no idea what they mean by "competent ", I don't believe my network is anything special and see no reason why the problem would be fixed by downgrading . This is the second router since December I have had and really dont feel like paying another 15$ shipping back to newegg for a refund.

I'm on a fibre connection from Plusnet and bought the TL-WR1043ND because of the advertised ability to use PPTP VPN to connect to my work server (the supplied Plusnet router doesn't allow it and is locked down). However, I cannot connect via PPTP VPN on this TL router either. I know my VPN settings are correct and I have had a brief search and found others have this problem, but short of installing third party firmware on the router, how to get this router running my PPTP VPN?

I am a bit of a noobie and am considering buying a TL-WR1043ND router/access point, but I have read that this router will not connect directly to my ISP over DSL.I have fiber optic to my home from a local telephone company. Whether it will or will not act as the gateway to the Internet. If not, does it connect to another router that acts as a gateway to the Internet? Or what?Secondly, do you recommend this model which, considering features, appears to be good value at arount $50, but would like to know what others think about it.

I recently bought your router and I am trying to install it.The problem that I get is that when the router tries to get the dynamic IP from my provider, it gets nothing.I have typed in the DNS servers but no go. Without the router, my uplink works fine. The provider does not lock onto a specific MAC adress.

I've got a problem with the wireless dropping out randomly. It may take a week before it stops or a couple of hours. I originally thought my microwave oven was swamping the signal when we used it so I relocated the router much further away but this hasn't changed anything. I can still log in to the router from a computer on the wired ports and reboot the router. It also thinks the wireless is working but everything looses connection to it. We have 3 laptops and 4 phones that use the wireless and they all cannot connect when it goes down. This is only a new device - less than 6 months?

Why am I unable to "disable" the UPnP in my TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND wireless router? When I click on the "disable" button nothing changes. I click on the "disable" button that then click of "refresh" and it still doesn't change to disabled.

I recently got a new modem from AT&T. I hooked it up and everything worked fine for a few days. Last night some friends came over with their wireless devices (iphone, ipad) and after a while, the internet got really slow. Then it was unresponsive but it said that we were still connected to the network. So I decided to restart the router. Once it was finished rebooting, we were not even able to connect to the network at all. Even on my computer downstairs I was not able to connect wirelessly. I am connected via ethernet from the router right now on my computer upstairs and that is working fine. I have tried rebooting the router to factory settings, unplugging the modem, rebooting the modem, unplugging the modem, changing the router settings, pretty much every practical solution for simple connectivity issues.

Have just bought this new router and it works faultlessly on all laptops and mobile phones in the house except for a laptop running Vista, the TCP IP properties look all right, it asks for a username and password ( only if connected by an ethernet cable, otherwise it cant access a network) but they are not accepted, the same username password was accepted for al the other computers

I've been using this router for almost 2 years and it has been excellent but since 2 weeks ago it has stopped recognizing anything connected to the LAN port 1 and the WAN port, so it becomes useless as a router because I cannot connect a cable modem. The cable modem was tested successfully with a direct connection to a computer but it doesn't work with the router, and also ANYTHING you connect to these ports on the router is not detected, the lights do not turn on.

I am trying to get the print server functionality working but no luck. I have a Brother HL-2030 and I know that it is not in the compatibility list. But the HL-2040 is, and the differences between the two are minimal. However, the TP-Link printer utility does not see the printer and the network scanner function is grayed out.
