Westell 327W Router Dropping Connection?

Jun 5, 2011

Within the last 6 months, I purchased a Toshiba Satellite C655 running Windows 7. When I take it to my summer house, I can connect wirelessly initially to a Westell VersaLink model# B90-327W15-06 router, but by the end of the first day I lose my connection and cannot connect unless I direct cable to modem. When I return home, it works fine again. The next time I visited my summer house, the same thing has happened. I worked with my IP support tech to try and resolve this issue to no avail. My husband's MACbook has no problem connecting wirelessly. The IP support tech had me enter the router's IP address to acess the router. When the Westell screen came up, no matter what menu option I clicked on the screen did not respond. My IP support person suggested I download firmware from the Westell site.I am not sure what to download - is it 'triggering' or 'forwarding' firmware?

Westell VersaLink Model 327W - Internet Disconnects Randomly And Occasionally When Phone Rings

Dec 30, 2011

I have a Westell VersaLink Model 327W router that is linked to two desktops, one with Windows 7 and one with XP. Our internet speed was recently increased, and ever since that happened the connection cuts out randomly and sometimes when the phone rings. After noticing the link to phone calls, I tested the connection by calling the phone to see if I could replicate the problem. However, the internet did not disconnect when I called the phone myself. On the Windows 7 desktop, the taskbar says no internet access when the connection disconnects. Strangely, Windows 7's default Troubleshoot Problems restores the connection every time. The disconnects are still extremely frustrating because they cause me to lose any online game I am playing at the time. I am not completely sure about the symptoms on the XP computer because it is not mine and I am rarely on it; however, I believe it normally reconnects after a few minutes on its own. We also have laptops that are connected wirelessly to our network. I have noticed that they tend to also lose internet access, although the taskbar does not indicate any problems. I am reluctant to believe that the problem lies in my router or ISP because the disconnects began when our internet was upgraded. I have searched the internet for fixes, but so far I have found nothing.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Cisco E1000 / Westel 327W With DSL Connection

I have a Westel model 327W for my DSL service.  I received it from my internet provider (Bellsouth). I recently purchased a Cisco E1000 router for what I though was a easy connect. I have managed to cripple one desktop and a laptop that had wireless or ethernet to the point the system tells me they are not equiped with wireless cards and my wireless range on the computer I'm typing on is about 5 feet.  How to connect the Westel DSL to the Cisco router.

Lost Internet Connection When Setting Westell 6100 Modem To Simply Bridge To Router?

Aug 1, 2011

Earlier today I attempted to change the setting on my Westell 6100 modem such that it would simply bridge the connection to my Linksys WRT54GS router, basically involving setting the router to bridge only and turning DHCP off. Now I no longer get an internet connection through my router when previously the connection had worked perfectly fine before. I following the steps of cloning the MAC address to the router and have done the proper resetting steps (computer, them router, then modem) but I simply can't get an internet connection through my router. The process to set up simple bridging from the modem what supposed to end up with the internet light no longer turning on but the light turned back on following one of the resets.

Currently, I can connect to the internet through the modem just fine but I get nothing when I include the router. I'm not sure if there are some other settings I'm supposed to be changing as I can't seem to find anything past what I've already done when researching online. At this point I would just be happy reverting the settings I've changed but I don't know how to access the modem now that DHCP is off.Basically, I'd prefer to be able to get the router working with these new settings but if that proves too difficult (as I've heard it can be when trying to get Westell modems to work with Linksys routers) I'd like to learn how to access the modem and change the settings back to what they were (preferably in as simple terms as possible as I don't particularly understand what a lot of these settings/configurations do).(And a bit of an aside, but I had attempted to do this modem bridging to "fix" perceived internet speed problems. I've been averaging around 300Kbps download rates ever since I've had this internet connection from Verizon when the supposed download rates should be between 1MB and 1.3MB. Doing this modem bridging had been reported to fix some modem/router conflicts and improved connection speeds for some.)

My Router Keeps Dropping My Connection

Mar 24, 2011

I changed my ISP (I don't know if that has anything to do with it).I have my network setup so I have a seperate modem (tp-link td-8616), which is connected to my router (asus wl-520gu) and do most of my computing from my computer (running Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium, wired network). I had installed tomato firmware onto my router, which was working fine with my first ISP. I changed companies about a week ago, and noticed my connection kept being dropped. At first, I thought it was an issue with my ISP, so I called them up, and didn't find a solution.

Afterwards, I started doing some trouble shooting on my own, and noticed my modem was still connected (via the WAN LED, at least), even though my router disagreed. So, I tried connecting directly to my modem and my connection would be fine without any issue at all, so I thought I'd trouble shoot the router. I switched back to the factory asus firmware, connected it back to my modem, and after a while, it disconnected my LAN connection again. My router comes with this somewhat annoying interface that tells me the issue is "You have set the wrong dynamic or static IP address for your wl-520gu." So, I investigate that, and here is the setup:

My modem is statically 192.168.1.1 when I directly connect to it, so I left that setting alone. My router is also 192.168.1.1, but this was how tomato worked, so I'm not sure that this is the conflict, so I tried setting it to 192.168.1.2, which does not seem to fix the problem. My DHCP settings are set so connecting computers are 192.168.1.100-254, which should avoid the conflicts.

New Ubee Router Dropping Connection Permanently?

Jan 8, 2013

I just switched ISP's and they provided me with a Ubee router. The computer plugged directly into works fine, great speed, no drops. A laptop connected via Wifi is the same, great speed, no drops. My Router is not simply 'dropping' connection, but instead, 'disabling' the internet to the devices and forcing me to reconnect in order to get approx. a few minutes of it again.I have a Desktop computer with a WGA600N Gaming adapter hooked up to it, and an iPod touch. Both worked perfectly with the old router, so I know it's the router for sure. The thing is, it's not just dropping and reconnecting..

It's connecting for a few minutes, and disconnecting permanently until I reconnect to the connection..For my iPod, it doesn't actually disconnect me, I just lose internet. It says I still have 3 bars of signal strength on my iPod, but I don't have internet. I must hit 'Forget this Network' and retype the password in order to get another 2-3 minutes out of the signal. As for my Desktop hooked up with the gaming adapter, when the internet 'runs out', I simply unplug it and plug it back in to 'renew' the internet.

D-LINK 615 Wireless Router Keeps Dropping Connection

Jun 6, 2012

To start off, the wireless router we have is a D-LINK 615 Wireless N 300 Router. We've had this router for a couple of months now and only recently has it been giving us grief. When we first got it (it was actually a friend's who had lent it to me but have been using ever since), it was working like a charm. No dropped connections, etc. However, as of a few weeks ago, we've began to notice that the connection has been dropping constantly. It started one a day around the same time (in the evening) and ever since has happened multiple times per day.The connection will either drop all together (lights still going on flashing) or there will be a limited connection (as stated in Windows) and I can't do anything. This happens for my laptop as well as my PS3. My desktop is hard-wired so there's never a connection issue there. Power cycling the router usually fixes the issue but again, this is constant and keeps disconnecting for some reason and having to power cycle every day is annoying. All the lights are always flashing like normal but the connection just drops off.

Belkin F9K1002 V3 Router Dropping Internet Connection

Dec 25, 2011

I recently changed my internet connection from a very slow adsl connection (im a LONG way from the exchange) to a moderatly faster vdsl connection. With the upgrade, they force me to use a modem that looks like it was made 20 years ago (although they say its had all the internals upgraded a month ago) leaving me to use a seperate router for wireless signal. I bought a bellkin F9K1002 v3 and after a little hassle had it up and running, the network connection between all the systems is great, but the router drops the internet connection every 30-120 seconds, for 15-20 seconds each time. I have about 10 devices connecting, but problem is there with just 1 connection wired or wireless.

I've tried calling my ISP (who will not touch router settings) and belkin tech support (who sound like they touched their first computer about 22 seconds ago) with no improvement. I've connected directly to the modem and had perfect connection for 12 hours, ruling it out of the equasion. I've disconnected all systems but one at a time, trying on 3 systems, with no improvement. I've turned off firewall, WPS, tried multiple wireless settings (channels and such) updated firmware all with no improvement. Here's a sample of the system log on the router:

WNR1000v3 - Netgear Router Dropping Internet Connection?

I have a Netgear WNR1000v3 router. I have two computers connected with a wired connection and a couple of different devices that I connect with using the wireless connection. (Phone, Laptop, Ipad). The wired connections work fine but the wireless connection will only connect to the internet for a very short time (seconds) and then drop off. If I wait long enough I will pick it back up again. But again, for only a very short time. I have tried all the reboot procedures without any success. If I reboot the laptop, Ipad, etc., that seems to get me a connection, again for a very short time. I've checked the lights on the router and everything there says its OK. It seems to have to difference how far I am from the router. I've put the computer right next to it without success. Is the router going bad? It's only about 4 months old. Because I don't use the wireless feature often, I can't tell you if it ever worked or not. It seems to me like I was able to keep a connection when I first hooked it up but I'm not sure.

Linksys Wired Router :: VOIP Dropping Connection 2-3x Per Day

Feb 13, 2013

I have a strong internet signal with good SNR coming out of my cable modem, then a nice short 3ft cable going to my linksys VOIP router (I think it's a SPA 2102). Whether I have anything downstream plugged in or not, the "phone" light on the VOIP router goes off every once in a while and when I check I find that I've lost both dial tone and Internet - basically everything downstream of the VOIP router. Have tried every variation on configuration you can imagine (feeding just one phone, feeding the entire phone wiring to the house, nothing at all plugged into the phone jack, no computers downstream plugged in, replaced all the cables, ...). I've replaced BOTH the cable modem and the linksys VOIP router and the problem continues. My cable company says my signal is fine. They suggested a signal amplifier but the coax comes straight to the modem, no splitter, and I'm always seeing 6-7dBmV. My phone company says their router must be losing signal upstream and refusing to reconnect, especially now that we've tried replacing their VOIP router with no change. Any chance I got two 'bad' routers in a row? Not sure what they did for setup parameters. I'm not particularly tech-savvy but have read a lot since seeing these issues, have run my own ping and tracert checks and everything seems to be wonderful... but then most of the time everything IS fine. When I have phone it's crystal clear and when I have internet it's nice and fast. I sometimes go 24hrs or so without a drop, but other times I'm resetting 2-3x in a couple of hours. All I do is power off the VOIP router and back on and everything is fine, for a while. After first getting VOIP things were fine for 4-6 weeks.

Now the link between the router WAN port and the modem randomly drops. Stays dropped for 1-3 secs and then connect again. When its really bad this happens with 5-10 secs intervall. This made it impossible to use the network from any of the devices. If I disconnect the CPU from the router and connect it direcly to the modem and change the IP settings to match the modem network the CPU connects without errors to the internet, iPad and iPhone connected to the router keeps having problems.Restarting the router does not change anything and it seems to be more frequent errors during heavy load hours, in the morning I have almost no problems at all, in the evenings I cant almost use the wireless devices (CPU works fine as its now connected directly to the modem not through the router).I havent changed a setting in the last year, it just came right out of the blue.I have hard reset both the modem and the router and reconfigured them (that I dont want to do again as I have some virtual servers, port forwards, port triggers and so on :P).As it came right out of the blue without me changing anything on any device and as it seems to be more frequent during heavy load hours I'm suspecting that the ISP is involved, but how can they be (it works fine with devices connected straight to the modem)?

Anywhere from once a week to twice a day, the internet connection starts (selectively) dropping off. While I cannot browse the web, some of my browser add-ons and Skype/Dropbox are working fine, and Windows almost always indicates a perfectly working connection.

If I am streaming through YouTube or other sites, the stream continues to play after the connection loss.

For AV, I use a combo of Malwarebytes and AVG Internet Security.

The security log mentions "PPPoE disconnected" after which it reconnects.Has anyone got an idiot proof list of what I should be checking? My old Net gear DG834PN does not have this problem at all so it really has to be the router rather than the line - at least that is my guess.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT110 - Internet Connection Dropping?

Feb 4, 2012

Set up: Router: WRT110 1 computer connected via ethernet cable 1 computer using a wireless nic card from cisco

The problem is thus: if the first computer is actively using the internet (even activities as mundane as browsing one's email) the computer connected wirelessly will lose its connection to the internet yet maintain its connection to the router. Both can be actively using the internet, but the wireless will seemingly at random drop internet access (usually in 30-120 minute intervals).

The computer connected via the ethernet cable was unplugged for a week and during that time the wirelessly connected computer was used extensively and did not lose connection once.

I don't understand how to even frame this problem in a concise manner, much less seek information as to how to resolve it. It's seemingly giving all priority to the computer connected via ethernet but I that's just intution speaking.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT160N V2 Dropping Internet Connection?

Oct 3, 2011

I recently changed the security mode on my router from WEP to WPA2 Personal. However, since that change, I've noticed that the wireless devices, 2-laptops, are intermittently loosing their connections. . I don't know if it has anything to do with the security mode change, but I don't want to go back to WEP for obvious reasons.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Dropping Connection After Some Time

Nov 15, 2011

I bought a e4200 router about 3 weeks ago and after a power outage it decided it didnt like being connected to the internet anymore. So i got on the phone with cisco they determined the router was no good, mind you my laptop would connect wired. So they sent me a "refurbished" one, so i set it up. The new setup was wonky because it said the same message "Your connected to your router but..." then after trying to get the connection its self and failing it came up with "congratulations you are now connected to the internet". That lasted 3hrs and 45mins then died, so i went upstairs to power cycle it, it decided to connect with the old settings. That lased 25mins then died, so i reset it and reconfigured the router. Wouldnt connect, i checked my mac address and it was using my wireless one and kept turning on my wireless connection durring the install. So i cloned my wired mac address and got the internet for roughly an hour... then it died. So i reset it again and kept the wifi off got it going and decided to go to sleep. I wake up and its still working after 8hrs, i go down stairs with my tablet and i dies again. This time it refuses to reconnect, refuses to reset back up just doesnt want to work.

TP-Link 3G/3.75G Router :: TL-MR3220 Keeps Dropping Connection On 3G In Wireless Mode

Jan 20, 2013

Region : UnitedKingdom
Model : TL-MR3220
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 1.13.1 Build 121123 Rel.56770n
ISP : 3 UK

My Huawei E3231 dongle gives me a strong signal and stable connection and rarely loses connecton when plugged directly into my laptop. In the router, connection duration only lasts, fairly consistently, about 30 minutes. 3 UK base station is in sight and only about 90metres away. I have to power off/on the router and turn off/on the wireless button on the laptop to restore connection. i've tried setting idle times etc and other things in the router settings but no joy. The OS is W7 Home Premium SP1.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54GC Dropping Internet Connection

Jan 25, 2013

I've been using my Linksys WRT54GC for couple years now, and only recently have I started to have significant issues with the device. I'm using a 2012 Macbook Pro, and my internet connection seems to be randomly dropping every now and then. Sometimes it works just fine for couple of hours only dropping once or so, sometimes it starts dropping literally every few seconds. What I usually do is quickly restart my wifi and the connection comes back right away. I also tried not doing that, and the internet connection tends to come back up after a minute or so.

I have read countless topics, also tried many things: changing MTU, the thresholds in router settings, security modes (it seemed to have worked fine after I changed it to WPA, not anymore though. I'm using no password now and it doesn't fix the problem either), changing the channel (my strongest signals around are on channel 1 and 11, thus I left mine on 6), I even reset the router today (held the reset button for 10 seconds~) but it didn't work either. I didn't upgrade the software since I heard stories about the software available on this site being corrupted or something, bricking the router, which is the last thing I'd want (I'm running on 1.00.7 now).

I have the impression (but it's just an impression, it might as well not be the case, and just me trying to find out when it happens, since it's not always that it breaks the connection while doing that) that it breaks the connection on high load, I mean when I'm for example using skype and facebook, and then try to go on reddit at the same time - the reddit webpage won't load, and the connection is lost after few seconds. But it also started dropping every few seconds while I was playing an online game and skyping at the same time today, which isn't a particularly huge problem for a 23Mbps download and 1.5 upload speed internet I suppose, and which it never did before. I have never had such issues with my PC using a Linksys USB adapter. The connection would drop from time to time when, for example, accidentally going on pages with lots of thumbnail pictures, or trying to load 15 tabs of jpgs at the same time, it was never that much of a problem really though, I just thought it's normal.
