View 4 RepliesI would like to passthrough ICMP 8 (ping) requests through the DIR-655 to my server. I found where to allow the router to respond to ICMP 8 requests, however, I do not want the router to responder, rather the server itself. Is there a way to pass these requests through to the server?

I used the manual Intel Wireless Manual Diagnostic Tools to test my system and failed the ping test. Dialog box says "no response, default gateway,DHCP server" and indicates the ping test failed.I have checked my router and it is working nominally; other laptops in my family have Internet access just fine. My Intel Centrino Wireless N 1030 adapter is working fine. I detect no other hardware problems on my laptop.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I first set up the Zone based firewall I used the Wizard with a setting of "low".The issue I am now having is related to adding a new subnet on a completely different IP range. My normal network is 10.20.0.0/16 sub-netted down into /24's for each vlan.Recently I added a new VLAN with a 172.16.0.0/16 subnet. I plan to use this vlan for testing purposes. I updated NAT on the router to allow the 172.16.0.0/16 range to be NATTED.From the router I can ping anything on the 172. 16.0. 0/16 range and from a test machine in the 172.16.0.0/16 I can ping all of the 10.20.0.0/16 addresses including the router. My problem is I can not ping out onto the Internet from a 172.16.0.0/16 computer.I have checked and so far I have not been able to find any policies on the firewall saying traffic must be sourced from the 10.20.0.0/16.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhenever my sister uses her laptop it makes the routers ping really unstable. It usually lies between 200-1000 when she uses the laptop. When she turns it off the ping remains at 21. Our internet is 8mbps/0.7mbps. I have tried other laptops and had no problems, but her laptop and her general use makes it impossible to play an online game without lagg. She doesn't download anything, just plays some flash/java games, chats and webcam etc. I just can't understand why the ping becomes so unstable when she uses her laptop. What can I do to make the ping more stable? Any software I can install to limit how much ping she uses or something? Something I can buy to split the line between us or anything like that? Software that checks what she is doing that makes the ping unstable? She just had a few programs and chrome up and still ping was unstable. None of the other laptops in the house behaves this way nor any of the desktops. It also makes web pages load 5 times slower?

I've just started a CCNA course and my lack of knowledge has me a bit stuck. My network is comprised of Cisco components and I'm semi familiar with them just from reading and looking through options. I currently am using a Cisco ASA 5520 on my network and I am trying to join another network via one of the interfaces. My network is 192.168.0.0 255.255.0.0 and my inside interface is 192.168.1.1 255.255.0.0. I enabled a second interface using a static ip of 10.0.0.1 with a subnet of 255.255.255.128. Connected to that interface, I have a Fortigate firewall at 10.0.0.2 255.255.255.128. I can ping just fine from the Fortigate network to the 10.0.0.1 interface on the Cisco ASA 5520 network, but I can not ping the 10.0.0.1 interface (or anything past it) on the ASA 5520 from any computer on the Cisco network. I've read that ACL's and NAT have to be done as well as enabling traffic between interfaces with the same security levels. (both interfaces have security levels of 100 and the option is checked to allow traffic).
Note: each network has it's own internet connection. The connection is to share information on servers on both networks with each other.
We are trying to isolate the fault. From Aggregator a router, we are receiving MAC address of distant end ethernet interface of a SDH box and vice versa is also possible. However ther is no packet received. My question is does ping test is must to see if the path is through or just receiving MAC adress at both ends would mean that packets have to go over the path.

I HAVE been able to make the connection successfully without any other changes to the environment. It's hit or miss, but usually a miss. Restarting QuickVPN sometimes works on the next try, but then fails if I disconnect and try again. Even when that ping error message is appearing, I am able to ping the host name at a command prompt without a problem.
Is something else on the router possibly blocking the ping requests? My router is behind a Westell F90 6100 DSL modem operating in bridge mode. The 4400 is obtaining the WAN address from Verizon(DSL) and that is also where I have my PPOE info entered to obtain the internet connection.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen we install an HWIC-2FE card in slot 0 or slot 1 of a 3845, the interface fails to pass any ping packet greater in size than 449 bytes. It works fine up until that limit is reached, but then fails completely on a larger size packet. If we move to slot 3 or slot 4 on the 3845, the card works just fine! I have looked through the cisco official bug tracker for HWIC-2FE, but could not find a similar symptom listed. We're running advanced ip services 12.4(24)T7 code on the routers. Any software fix or if this is a platform problem with the 3800 series.

View 9 Replies View RelatedQuestion re: DIR-655; Hardware ver A4; Firmware version 1.32NA
During bandwidth tests to several sites (principally speedtest.net) I get ping times of 10-11 ms, download speeds of 12+ to 17+ mbps but failure on upload tests using my DIR-655.
When I bypass the 655 and test directly with my cable modem, all (including upload) tests work reliably and consistently.
I have swapped the two ethernet cables involved as well as replacing both with new cables but the results are the same (uploads fail with 655 and work without it)
I have seen several postings over the the last year with this same problem but have never seen any comment from D-Link, or a solution from any reader.
Not that it should have any bearing, but I have TA785GE-128M motherboard and am running Windows 7 (patch current) on COMCAST
is this problem acknowledged by D-Link and is there a solution?
I just bought a DIR-601. It comes with an installation process on CD.The process fails at the point where I make the connection from my DSL modem to the DIR-601. The installation program reports that there is no internet connection. (Note that to get this far in the installation process the installation program has already tested for a valid internet connection before the DIR-601 is inserted into the chain)Although the LED on the front of the DIR-601 indicates it is getting an internet connection from the DSL modem, it does not pass it on to my PC (already connected to the DIR-601). My PC reports "no internet access".
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have not been having much success configuring my 5505 for Internet access, and I'm sure there are a few small things I'm missing. At times I believe I got it to the point where I could ping, but still not pass through the Internet traffic. At this point, I reset the 5505 and only changed a couple of settings. I have an external range with these characteristics: Network Address 67.139.113.16 (.17 is Gateway), SM: 255.255.255.248, available IP: 67.139.113.218 The external connection is through a T1 modem, and when I put those settings in my laptop, I can access just fine. When I went through the startup wizard in the ADSM, I maded the internal interface 10.209.0.3, subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 I selected PAT in the Wizard, but don't know if I should have, or if the NAT rules I tried to put in are fine. Eventually I want to add a Site to Site VPN to the rest of the 10.0.0.0 network, but I can't even pass the Internet through to the inside. Also, this will eventually be behind another hosted firewall, so I'm not worried about restricting access, even currently. However, I suspect the problem is that traffic is being blocked with the NAT rules or Access rules.I wish I could just disable those inherent deny rules Outside of pings to 10.209.0.3, all pings come back as request timed out.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI teach in a High School and we've got about a 300 node MS Windows Network. Two MS2003 File Servers act as my DNS/WINS/DHCP servers. We have been using a WATCHGUARD FIREBOX III to act as the router/gateway between the outside external address and my internal (10.0.0.1) gateway address. All p.c's inside the network are routed to one of the Servers (10.0.0.2 or 10.0.0.4) for DNS/WINS/DHCP addressing. The servers point to 10.0.0.1 for gateway.
We are trying to replace the Watchguard Firebox with a CISCO ASA 5505 (eventually we'd like to implement VPN). When I connect the CISCO ASA, I get no internet passthrough at all.
[OK] Site to Site IPSec + GRE = success, no problems.
[OK] IPSec remote access = success, no problems.
[NO] SSL VPN = remote users can successfully connect to all internal systems. Cannot pass traffic to the Internet.

Cisco 2811, Cisco IOS Software, 2800 Software (C2800NM-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(22)T5, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc3) . Software: Cisco Any Connect Secure Mobility Version 3.1.01065
Single hub router terminating IPSec+GRE site to site, IPSec remote access, and SSLVPN remote access VPN services. All services currently configured and running successfully with the exception of the SSLVPN service. Remote users can initiate and successfully establish SSL VPN sessions. While established, connectivity to all internal systems/resources are successful. Only when the remote access client tries to connect to "Outside" Internet resources does traffic not pass successfully. Troubleshooting has pointed to a NAT related issue (I believe).
When connecting from a remote access workstation, utilizing IPSec remote access client (built-in Cisco IPSec client from Mac OS), the session establishes and the client works flawlessly. Examining the Cisco 2811 router, you see the /32 host route from the remote access session get installed, and you see the corresponding NAT translation entries created when the client accesses outside (Internet) resources. Appropriate configuration to implement "hair pinning" have been included to handle the in and right back out (with NAT translation) needed for remote clients to access the Internet.
Configured the 2811 for SSL VPN, and remote access clients can successfully connect and access all internal network resources. Examining the Cisco 2811, the /32 host route for the remote access client is installed, pointing to SSLVPN-VIF0 interface with a next hop of 0.0.0.0 When checking the NAT translation table, there are NO entries for the remote access client address created which leads me to believe the hair pinning/NAT function is not being invoked for SSLVPN clients.
Originally, the IPSec remote access VPN local pool was 10.0.100.0 /24. To keep from having to adjust the existing NAT translation, PBR Route-MAP for the hair pinning function - I took the 10.0.100./24 and broke it into a pair of /25 networks. Bottom half for the IPSec remote access VPN pool (10.0.100.0 /25); upper half for the SSL VPN pool (10.0.100.128 /25). By utilizing SSL VPN, is the traffic somehow bypassing the DIALER1 interface where both the crypto map (and more importantly: IP NAT OUTSIDE, and PBR configuration for the hair pinning function)? I cant explain why NAT translation entries are not being created for SSLVPN client sessions.
Cisco 2811 Configuration has been included. IPSec & SSL VPN Remote Access Sessions Captures (performed from same remote client) have been included.
