Moving From Comcast Gateway To Business

Jul 31, 2012

I have a 'Comcast Business Gateway' a friend gave me and I would like to use it instead of the regular gateway. The business gateway has extra Ethernet ports on the back where as the regular gateway just has one for your router. I plugged in the business gateway and I couldn't access the network. I used 10.1.10.1 which I thought was comcast's default but to no avail. I am not a tech so I am now stuck. The whole reason I am trying to do this is because the wireless routor is in the house, with a ethernet wire running to the shop. This distance is about 60 feet. I have the computer pluged into the wire but I can't get the printer or the other computer to connect to the wireless. I would like to connect the Business Gateway to the house wireless and then run the hard wire to the shop and connect another wireless router to the wire and run the shop on its own wireless. I tried one of the wireless extenders and it does not have enough juice.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 On Comcast Business Account That Uses Gateway

Jul 23, 2011

I am setting up a e4200 wireless router on a Comcast business account that uses a gateway (SMC8014).I have fixed public IP [x.x.x.x/30] and the gateway sets up a subnet 10.1.10.0 (255.255.255.0).  I have mail server and DNS server at 10.1.10.20 and I use port forwarding in the SMC gateway.

The setup of the e4200 using the software sets up a network (192.168.1.1).  I can connect devices to the router and browse the external Internet.  However, when my android phone connects to the e4200 it gets an IP such as 192.168.1.101.  However, I cannot download my mail which is at 10.1.10.20.  When I try to browse that IP from the android phone I get the SMC gateway at 10.1.10.1 and not the computer at 10.1.10.20.  If was coming in from the external Internet port forwarding would take over but it does not work for the android phone connected to the e4200.

Also, i noticed that when I set up the default setup for the e4200 the "Cisco Connect" says the WAN address is 10.1.10.155 and the LAN address is 192.168.1.1.  However, when I go to the SMC Gateway and list the connected computers it doesn't see the e4200 at 10.1.10.155.  If I set up the e4200 within 10.1.10.0 then the SMC sees it (but the computer name always says "unknown").  It I set the DHCP in either the SMC or the e4200 within the 10.1.10.0 subnet I can see the phone connection in the SMC when I list the connections but any requests to 10,1,10.0 computers goes to the SMC gateway.

Cisco Routers :: How To Manage Port 80 Hosts Via Gateway To Gateway VPN (rv220w)

Aug 30, 2012

I replace our aging rv082 routers with wireless rv220w routers. The gateway to gateway vpn works great, however I am no longer able to manage our print servers port 80 management page. I can ping any host with success, and I can manage hosts that have a port 10000 or 8000 web interface - but no port 80 ones... I had no issues when using the old rv082 routers...

This worked just fine with the old 3Com switch.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5510 - Time Range / Allow Single Port During Business Hours Only

Apr 1, 2012

I'm new to an ASA 5510 running 8.4(3) and am trying to figure out something regarding time ranges in ASDM. I simply want to allow a single port during business hours only (I'm not concerned about open sessions needing to be closed). So as an example I add a rule something like:

(RULE1 on the internal interface) SRC=INTERNAL DEST=ANY SERVICE=RDP ACTION=PERMIT with a time range set for weekdays 8:00-16:59. I did a test after 5pm on a weekday and was still allowed to do RDP to a server (from INTERNAL), and after using the packet trace tool saw it was still passing through due to a rule a couple lines down (rule 4) that allowed a port range that happened to include port 3389. So my question is if I specify an "allowed" time range and someone attempts access outside that time range, why doesn't it drop it right there? I guess I'm assuming that anything outside the "allowed" time range would be dropped but that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm also assuming the rule base is processed top to bottom.

Now, i have tried about 10 different port numbers, made sure Utorrent is being accepted by Norton 360 Firewall, followed complicated directions to (i think) foward ports, and also follow directions to open a specific port.Nothing has worked so far, Utorrent still comes back with a port closed error.

Can't Seem To Open Port For Camera

Dec 10, 2012

I have an IP camera (foscam). It's connected to my wireless router. My router is connected to my motorola cable modem. My isp is Cox.I want to be able to view this camera from outside (ie: when I'm at work) by going to http://(my real ip) : (port). Port that I use is 88. I can't seem to do this.

First I set the port 88 to the camera's config. I can see the camera when I'm at home (going to 192.168.1.106:88). Reading the manual, I need to forward the port 88. So I go to my linksys wireless router 192.168.1.1 and single-port forward 88 UDP TCP (both) to 192.168.1.106.This doesn't solve the problem.I go to Open Port Check Tool and put in port 88 and it says I could not see your service on (my real ip) on port (88)

Open A Port Without Router Access?

Mar 10, 2012

recently my brother has blocked some ports on our home router because he thinks i play too much video games. ( i actually dont play a lot ! ). He says there are alternative ways to make it work again and challenges me to figure out how to change the ports back to normal but he would not give me the access to the router, meaning i dont know the Login and password for it. Plus I am not allowed to reset the router to factory settings. For about three days I have been looking up ways to change the ports on my router through my computer but nothing has worked so far. Port 80 Intermittent Open And Close

May 3, 2011

I've been trying to set up a customers security camera's for remote viewing. He has a HP running Vista, a netgear grt614 vs10 router, and a static IP address through Verizon. My problem is this. I set up port forwarding for port 80. All seems to work well sometimes and I can connect to his DVR no problem. Then other times I can't connect at all. I'll run a port checker and it will tell me port 80 is closed. Is it possible that Verizon will off and on block inbound port 80? I seem to only be able to connect during buisness hours. Is it possible that his PC needs to be on for the port to be open. The DVR is the server which is always on and the router is always on. I don't know why the computer would have to be on.

Unable To Set Up The Server And Open Up The Port?

Dec 18, 2012

I've been trying to open ports to start a server on some games that I play.I used a guide that shows you how to set up the server and open up the port, but I can't get it to work.I've tried making an exception in my firewall, but that didn't work, so I tried completely disabling my firewalls. Nothing. I've gone into my router settings and opening a port this way: But it still doesn't open it up. This is what I'm using to check it.In fact, NONE of the ports are open it seems? No matter what port I try to type in on the port checker, it always gives me that same error.
