View 1 RepliesOur church has 1 phone line, we run BTBusiness Broadband at one of the building where we have a couple of charities based. We have the phone line connected to an extension at the other end (where the Church is) >80m away. Any way of running a second concurrent router on the extension so I can set up an office with a VOIP number, pC's printers etc there too? We use Devolo ethernet over mains and wireless for the main building, but the church itself is on a completely seperate mains power supply so I can't use that. I could run 100m Cat 5 and locate a switch on that, but any way of achieving something similar over the phone cable which is already in place.

Right now I have connected using bridge mode and I can see in my network configuration-> ppp and eth0. PPP has public IP and eth0 has private IP. Is there any way that I can get public ip assigned to eth0? I do not have Static IP, I want to use the public dynamic IP assigned by my ISP to use in eth0 interface.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWe've (an independent school) just bought an SR520 with a view to replacing one of our Draytek 2820s. We need to set up some site-to-site VPN with NAT and the Drayteks won't do it.
I've been trying to configure the SR520 in just the most basic fashion using CCA (3.1) and the CLI but with no success. I can't get a PPP connection with our ISP.
I've tried following the instructions in the software config pdf and also tried replicating the various 'running configs' reported in other posts in this forum to allow connection to a UK ISP, with no success. I don't know how many times I've reset the poor thing to factory defaults.
I have to say that I'm dismayed at how flaky the CCA appears to be. Many of the things I've tried with it simply don't work and often end up in it hanging. Close to useless in my view.
So instead I've tried to use the CLI which seems a lot more solid but is somewhat impenetrable and there's precious little by way of supporting explanation.

I have problems with the RV042 router. Currently I have two Internet service is the first DSL service and the other is through cable. The problem is because the router is not doing the redundancy process. For example if DSL service fails, the cable internet service does not come automatically. You have to disconnect and connect manually to maintain the connection to the Internet. Should not the router do this automatically without intervention?

View 2 Replies View Relatedat our office we've recently upgrade from a old consumer-grade linksys wag200g modem/router/ap to the Cisco SRP527w. The Cisco is suffering from very frequent ADSL disconnections. These disconnections happens when there is some traffic to the internet and they seem to don't affect the LAN routing: on the weekends there are no disconnections at all while during the working hours there may be disconnections every FEW MINUTES making this router unusable. Often these disconnections force us to do a full reboot of the router.
Firmare version is SRP520W-1.1.19, the latest. ADSL line is a 6Mbps/640kbps. Noise margin is about 11dB for downstream and 20dB for upstream.
No voice line is used and therefore they are both disabled. 2 wireless network are active. The old linksys was (and is) working correctly, no adsl disconnections at all. Never.
I just bought the AC1200, but looks need to change the modulation for adsl2+.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have multiple customers with either 877 / 1801 routers with dsl issues, we keep dropping sync , get slow speeds etc,
I have already updated to firmware 4.018, in some cases it has resolved the issue in others it has not, BT say their lines are ok, but still i keep getting issues.
We have deployed a number of 800 series routers for some of our clients and have found that in many cases they seem to disconnect at an excessive rate. When I connected to the console of one the other day I could see that the virtual-interface for the ADSL connection was down, but not the ATM or DSL interface. If I disconnected the cable and reconnected the virtual-circuit came back up momentarily before disconnecting within a minute.
If I switched off the router for a few minutes and powered it back on it would usually remain up for a few hours. I reconfigured the router again using exactly the same config and it seemed to stay up for quite long periods for 4 or 5 days before reverting to type. [code]
We installed one of these devices as our gateway a couple of weeks ago, flashed the firmware to 1.2.4(003) and it worked perfectly until this morning where it keeps resetting the ADSL every minute and losing the web interface to the unit.
The log endlessly reports this:
Feb 24 11:26:00 SRP547W cron.info cron[8779]: (root) CMD (/sbin/check_gn)
Feb 24 11:26:00 SRP547W cron.info cron[8781]: (root) CMD (/sbin/check_ps)

I have a RV120W that reboots itself when the WAN (ADSL modem) breaks away. I have a Cisco wag120n adsl modem. I am setup with a SIP provider, so all my incoming and outgoing calls use SIP.So my question is, how does my ADSL modem handle incoming SIP calls,e.g the SIP call comes in and reaches my adsl modem. Then, how does the modem find the actual port that has my ATA adaptor (analog phone) or CME router attached ? I know port forwarding would handle this, but I am not actually using any configured port forwarding rules.

I just bought a Linksys X3000 to work with my ADSL connection (provider is Singtel from Singapore). I managed to use Cisco connection application to logon and setup the router OK, yesterday. I even connected my PC to the router by LAN, and also a few devices wirelessly. At the end of the day, I switched off everything... but next morning, when I booted up the router, I found that all my devices cannot access internet. Upon checking the server (192.168.1.1), I found that it does not have a IP from Singtel, although on the router the internet symbol (globe sign) is lighted up.I rebooted the router twice, getting the same results (note: I waited for a long time each time, until the globe was lighted up).I disconnected the X3000, and reconnected my Netgear DGN2000. It worked (and retrieved an IP address from Singtel). I then disconnected the Netgear and reconnected X3000. To my surprise, this time X3000 got the IP address and then internet is working again.
