Cisco Infrastructure :: HWIC-2FE Fails To Pass Ping Packets Greater Than 449 In Slots 0 Or 1

Apr 9, 2013

When we install an HWIC-2FE card in slot 0 or slot 1 of a 3845, the interface fails to pass any ping packet greater in size than 449 bytes.  It works fine up until that limit is reached, but then fails completely on a larger size packet.  If we move to slot 3 or slot 4 on the 3845, the card works just fine!  I have looked through the cisco official bug tracker for HWIC-2FE, but could not find a similar symptom listed.  We're running advanced ip services 12.4(24)T7 code on the routers. Any software fix or if this is a platform problem with the 3800 series.

Cisco Switches :: SG200-18 Fails To Pass DHCP Requests?

May 30, 2013

I have a sg200-18 connected via one of the ports to my ISP's router/modem.  Using an unmanaged switch everything works as expected, but after a few days on my sg200 my two computers fail to get assigned IP's and cannot connect to anything.  I also have a couple printers that seem to have no problems getting their IP's passed through to the router as I can use them fine from my machines when connected to the unmanaged switch.
Is there a possibility I don't have my switch setup properly to know that all outgoing data must go to the router, or UDP traffic is being dropped somehow?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: HWIC 4ESW - Cannot Ping It

Dec 28, 2011

I have a 2811 ISR, a lab unit with almost nothing yet configured other than some IP networks on serial and FE interfaces to ping to other lab routers. And I have one HWIC-4ESW installed, and I amrunning IOS 15.2.I want to set the card as a single routable interface and just have the ports act like switch ports, which I imagine is the default design of these cardsI work a lot with Cisco 891 ISRs so figured it's the same here, assign an IP to interface Vlan1 and all is well. That was wrong, obviously more config is required.It seems there are a lot of differing answers out there, so far none what worked for me. The best looking one I could find said to assign an IP to the Vlan 1 interface, then go to each of the four FE interfaces on the switch module.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: ASA 5520 - Can't Ping / Pass Traffic Through Interfaces

Apr 17, 2012

I've just started a CCNA course and my lack of knowledge has me a bit stuck. My network is comprised of Cisco components and I'm semi familiar with them just from reading and looking through options. I currently am using a Cisco ASA 5520 on my network and I am trying to join another network via one of the interfaces. My network is and my inside interface is I enabled a second interface using a static ip of with a subnet of Connected to that interface, I have a Fortigate firewall at I can ping just fine from the Fortigate network to the interface on the Cisco ASA 5520 network, but I can not ping the interface (or anything past it) on the ASA 5520 from any computer on the Cisco network. I've read that ACL's and NAT have to be done as well as enabling traffic between interfaces with the same security levels. (both interfaces have security levels of 100 and the option is checked to allow traffic).

Note: each network has it's own internet connection. The connection is to share information on servers on both networks with each other.

Cisco Infrastructure :: High CPU Usage / Dropped Packets - Switch Blade WS-CBS3120X-S

Jun 25, 2012

I have a couple of Switches Blade 3120, working as active-standby model (HSRP) on a new site deployment. There are other 20 sites more or less, working on the same model, without issues. But in this one, we are seeing a high cpu usage. The traffic going through the platform is 600Mbps (on peaks), and in this case we have 40% of CPU usage. Traffic should be close to 3 Gbps. When we tried to send the whole traffic through the platform, active switch began to drop packets on the majority of interfaces.
When we analyze the CPU usage, there is a special process called "HL3U bkgrd proce" always have the most CPU use, but we do not know what concerns. We do not know if it is caused because there are PBRs configured. It should not matter. How I mentioned, there are other sites working fine and have had always the same PBR number.
What is causing the high usage?. Is there a special debug we could to perform to diagnose the issue?. Also, we have seen a high interrupt CPU usage (9% in this case).

CPU utilization for five seconds: 30%/9%; one minute: 25%; five minutes: 23%

Cisco Routers :: WRVS4400N And QuickVPN - Ping Test Fails Sometimes / Not Others?

Oct 23, 2009

I have a new WRVS4400N VPN router and have set it up for VPN.  On a separate computer I have a Verizon EVDO card so I have used that with a separate computer to access the internet on a public, routable IP address off of my network.
When I use the QuickVPN client, I wasn't able to get into my network (using because I didn't have the "BLOCK WAN REQUEST" setting disabled so the router could be ping'd.  Once I did that, I verified I could successfuly ping my ddyns name
In the error log of the QuickVPN client, I still see:

I HAVE been able to make the connection successfully without any other changes to the environment.  It's hit or miss, but usually a miss.  Restarting QuickVPN sometimes works on the next try, but then fails if I disconnect and try again.  Even when that ping error message is appearing, I am able to ping the host name at a command prompt without a problem.
Is something else on the router possibly blocking the ping requests?My router is behind a Westell F90 6100 DSL modem operating in bridge mode.  The 4400 is obtaining the WAN address from Verizon(DSL) and that is also where I have my PPOE info entered to obtain the internet connection.

Cisco WAN :: 3750 And 4507 / 1Gbps Link / Sweep Ping Dropping Packets?

Dec 29, 2010

We are testing a new 1Gbps WAN circuit between 2 sites. We have cisco 3750 and 4507 on each end. Every time we run extended ping sweep ranging from 36 to 18024 bytes the packets are being dropped randomly once the size goes above 1500 bytes. Our ISP claims Demark to Demark test are clean and they don't want to acknowledge the problem, they blame our switches. To prove the problem is not on our end we've put different switches at each end, still facing the same issue. Ping success rate is around 98 to 99 percent.

2960S Skills Of Switch Configuration Are Greater Than Network Design

How would you experts design the physical connections in such a way as to facilitate some redundancy?
