Cisco Routers :: WRVS4400N VPN Tunnel Between 2 Physical Locations

Dec 7, 2011

I have 2 WRVS4400N's installed in our network, one at each end of a VPN tunnel between 2 physical locations.  I continue to have issues with the VPN to "Stay" connected, even after purchasing another new WRVS4400N 4 months ago.  I can reboot both routers, and the VPN connects with no problem, but hangs up after a few hours / days (no pattern).

I am taking a hard look at the issue now, as about 1 month ago, the newest router "automatically" reset it itself back to factory settings (thus interrupting nearly everything in our network).  After contacting support, we reset the router and re-configured it to our environment.  It is plugged into a surge protected UPS (yep, I thought maybe a power issue caused the problem, but it's not).  Then about 1 week ago, the other/older (9 month old) router lost it's configuration.  again, reset it and all works.  Including the VPN, but the VPN still works as it did before connects for a while, but then drops and generally I need to reboot the router to get it connected again (clicking on the Connect on either router doesn't work until after a reboot).

Also, in light of the recent "lost configurations", I turned on logging and now I'm getting TONS of emails of log activity, even when the network is idle (no users, no background jobs running).

after rebooting and no inter activity, I get this kind of log, all night long (to me it generally looks like the VPN connection resets and increments by 1... I'm taking a guess that the increment hits a limit someplace and I lose my VPN).[code]

Cisco Routers :: RV042 - VPN Tunnel Between Two Remote Locations

Jun 27, 2012

I have configured a VPN tunnel between two remote locations using static IP addresses on two RV042 routers. The tunnel seems to work but the problem is that when the two hosts attempt to ping each other only one can successfully ping. One PC with IP address 192.168.1.100 can ping across the network but the second PC with IP address 192.168.2.100 cannot. These are laptops seperate from the intranet used to test the tunnel. Someone had suggested NAT may be the issue so I enabled NAT Transverse on the routers but still no luck. The following is the results from a ping test.

PC 1
ping 192.168.2.1

Pinging 192.168.2.1 with 32 bytes of data:

Cisco Routers :: WRVS4400N - VPN Tunnel Down

Aug 5, 2012

I have a gateway to gateway vpn (home-office) working fine for almost an year btw 2 wrvs4400n routers, This morning, the VPN tunnel was down. I clicked "Connect" from the web based interface, but it does not reconnect.

I tried setting up a new tunnel using the VPN setup wizard, but it says it can't connect to the remote router. Which is strange, since I can ping there normally.

Cisco Routers :: WRVS4400N - VPN Tunnel Up But No Outgoing Traffic?

Jan 29, 2012

we've buyed a WRVS4400N to create a IPSEC VPN tunnel to our client in order to access some applications.

After a while trying to configure the router, we have archieved it and the VPN tunnel is up. We can see the tunnel up from here and from client's side as well.

Our client supposendly have created the tunnel in order to access a list of specific IPs in the range 10.113.x.x, but if we try to access this IPs via telnet whe cannot obtain any response.

Making a tracert, we obtain...
C:UsersHuexxx>tracert 10.113.56.177
Traza a 10.113.56.177 sobre caminos de 30 saltos como máximo.
1     1 ms     1 ms     1 ms  192.168.0.1
2     *        *        *     Tiempo de espera agotado para esta solicitud.
3     *        *     ^C

... and therefor the client doesn't receive any packet at its firewall.

I've tried to establish a static route for 10.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 to their remote gateway, but I'm unable to add any entry to static routing list... The router tries to do something, but afterall I cannot see the new entry...

What can I do to route the traffic through the tunnel?

Cisco Firewall :: 5510 - VPN Tunnel Between Two Locations

May 23, 2011

Firewall ASA5510. I'm planning to get one of ASA5510 for our office in order to secure our network properly, however we have quite specific routing configuration to allow us failover to the remote location (data center) in case of any disaster with our server. I'd like to find out if I can just install firewall between our ISP Ruter and internet and allow traffic to/from Data Centre. In this situation will I have to change routing configuration on Company Router or do I have to do anything with our Company Router

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5510 Tunnel - Replicate Data Between Two Locations

Oct 3, 2012

I am not a ASA expert but I have configured them few times. I have a vision of a task I have to complete but not sure if it is practical or how to go about doing it.

We two locations, Location A and Location B. Both locations have a 100MB internet conection. Location A has a ASA 5510. Location B has a 5505. Users at both locations access the internet via their respective ASA. Location A is the headquarters and Location B is a disaster recovery site. We want to setup a tunnel between both ASAs. This tunnel will be used to replicate data between the two locations for DR purposes. We need the users to still use the same pipe to get to the internet but want to allocate 10MB for internet use and the remaining 90MB for the DR tunnel.

Cisco WAN :: ASR 1002F - Per Tunnel QoS And Physical Interface CBWFQ

Jun 5, 2012

I am preparing configuration (currently in lab) for Per-Tunnel QoS in DMVPN on ASR 1002F for one of our customers, and I came across one issue. According to restrictions for this feature, I cannot apply per-tunnel QoS in conjunction with interface based QoS. This means, I can provide shaping with hierarchical CBWFQ for each spoke, but I cannot guarantee anything on physical interface! What if there are services in native MPLS? I am also unable give reservations for BGP which is used on PE-CE link! How about monitoring spoke PE-CE links natively? I can only apply policy-map with class-default on physical interface. When I add anything related to queuing for that class (or any other non-default class) I get the message:

R1(config- pmap)class routing
R1(config- pmap-c)#bandwidth 16
service-policy with queuing features on sessions is not allowed in conjunction with interface based

The Cisco ASA 5505 is already configured to allow incoming IPSec VPN connections via the Cisco VPN Client.

Is this possible, and if so, how would I go about doing so? The remote user has a static IP address as well as the main office.

Cisco Routers :: How To Configure WRVS4400n

I'll just use the 4400n to provide DHCP to my two VLANs and then a new problem cropped up.  I am unable to add a default route to the 4400n's DHCP server.  It uses the 4400n's vlan IP as the default route.  What I'm trying to ultimately achieve is to configure the 4400n as an access point for our "private" network on vlan1 and also "guest" access to the internet on vlan2.

Cisco Routers :: WRVS4400N V2 - Setting Up VPN For Mac?

Mar 3, 2013

I'm having problems trying to establish a IP Sec tunnel from the office to home. All of our machines are Macs so I have been using the directions described in "How to create an IP Sec tunnel for MAC Clients, A QVPN alternative" but I still can't get it to work. My setup is as follows:

The office is connected to the outside world through a MODEM (Sagemcom 2864 Connection Hub). This MODEM is also a wireless router. It's DHCP server provides addresses 192.168.2.x.The WRVS4400N's WAN port is connected to one of the LAN ports on the MODEM. It's IP address from the MODEM is 192.168.2.x. The WRVS4400N provides addresses 192.168.21.x to devices connected to it.We have a DynDNS account and are using the DDNS client on the WRVS4400N router to connect to it.At home, we have a DIR-655 router with IP Sec Passthru enabled. The router provides IP addresses 192.168.1.x for all devices connected to it. I am fairly sure there are no issues with the router setup at home since I am able to VPN into the office of my full-time job without any problems. I have tried just about everything I can think of but have not been able to get this to work. setting up the Local and Remote Group Settings on the WRVS4400N and the IP address settings in IP Securitas?

Cisco Routers :: DNS On Modem Or WRVS4400n?

Sep 15, 2012

I have successfully got QuickVPN working from Windows 7 64bit into my WRVS4400n.  The router is sat behind another router/modem (Belkin) as the UK uses PPPoA and the WRVS4400n doesn't.So I set up DMZ and changed the DHCP to always allocate 10.x.x.2 on the Belkin which is the WAN side for the WRVS4400n as it is the only thing attached.I have now noticed, and I'm not sure whether it was the case before, that the DNS that the WRVS4400 is showing is the LAN address for the Belkin  Modem/Router (10.x.x.1), not 192.x.x.1 for the WRVS4400n itself.  I assumed setting the Static DNS 1 on the WRVS4400n would do it, but it didn't?When I connect into the network with QuickVPN, the computer names do not show even though I have selected the option in QuickVPN?

Cisco Routers :: WRVS4400N Cannot Browse Anything

Dec 16, 2012

Recently installed a WRVS4400N router on my home network. Prior to that I was using the wireless built into my FIOS router. I wanted something more secure so I went with the WRVS4400N. I turned off the FIOS wireless and am only using the cisco wireless.

Im having intermittent issues with the wireless. I have many things hooked up to my wireless including a HP printer and a Sonos system. Most of the time if I just open my ipad I cannot see anything else on my network including the printer. If I try to see the Sonos system can cannot, sometimes I can open the app on my iphone and then I can see it.

Sometimes I can see the printer and sometimes I cant. Sometimes when I do see it and then print to it, it will be gone before it even prints.
I don’t seem to have any issues thru the LAN connections.

Also, ive noticed that the wifi is much slower than the old FIOS box.

FYI, when I remove the cisco and fire back up the FIOS wifi I don’t have any problems at all at any time. And its much faster.

I have tried channel 6, 11 and auto. Also turned off IPC and still no change.
