I have a 10nos of cisco 2960 switches and 1no of cisco 3725 gigabit switch. all 2960 switches are parallaly connected to 3725 switch though fiber.
all the switches are having same vlan and public ips for management.
Now I want to upgrade IOS for all 2960 switches at a time, how to up grade IOS same time for all switches.
I am trying to upgrade my cisco WS 2960 24 TC-L switch with the IOS image c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-55.SE6.bin and my existing IOS image is c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-50.SE5.bin. when i am copying it to flash, it is getting copied but when i tried to boot it after entering command boot system c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-55.SE6.bin , it gave me an error.
both flash dir and error are attahced herewith.
I'd like to know if is it possible to load lan base image on Cisco Switch 2960 TC-S. This model (WS-C2960-48TC-S) come with lan lite image and it's the same (phisically) of the 2960 TC-L (lan base image).If I try to upload the lan base image on flash of 2960 TC-S will works?? ..or the switch goes damaged?

I have tried several combinations of the duplex/speed settings on both sides but the only that works is setting duplex/speed AUTO on the Cisco 2960 which ends up autonegotiating to HALF duplex and 100Mbps.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm getting currently installing a full Valcom IP sound and clock system , along with all new Cisco 2960 gig ps-l switches. All devices run off of POE. In the past, I have read that most AP's only draw approx. 12.5 watts (va's). But you must take into account length of wire to add your additional draw which puts you at the 14.5 they auto draw. My question being that the clocks I have auto draw 15.4 watts, which is eating up my 370w of power on my switches. The spec sheet on the clocks show only a power consumption of 4.5 watts. So today I turned a few ports down to 4.5 watts and everything still worked fine.. Any experience by chance with Valcom devices or just turning the power down on devices in general? I can imagine that a clock is drawing enough to care about the length of the wire run.

My switch is a 2960 switch and it is presently trunked from the core switch.
We're going to be switching some of our gear from Foundry to Cisco, and were looking at the WS-C2960S-48TS-L. We currently have 3 different VLAN's, and I wanted to have 1 uplink back to our firewall (ASA 5550) and then let the firewall do the routing between the subnets. I realize that 1 link will carry the traffic twice then, but is that possibly with those switches to have all three vlans assigned to one port and then just let the firewall do the routing between the vlans or would I need to have 3 uplink ports back to the 5550?

Has come across issues with multiple GRE tunnels between two devices when using the same source and destination addresses. I've tried using tunnel keys but this makes no difference. The only way I can get this to work is between different source & destination addresses.

2) Are these the correct steps to download and extract the IOS?
3) Where will the tar files be extracted? Will an new directory be made or do I have to make one manually?
I have a problem with DHCP. I have two 2960 connected with a port channel on ports 47 and 48 as trunk with native vlan 10. I only have this one vlan. In port 1 of sw 1, I have a C800 as DHCP server.
I have an AP autonomous with single ssid on vlan 10. When I connect the AP to sw1, I receive dhcp with no problems.When I connect the AP to sw 2, I’m not getting IP by DHCP.I have DHCP snooping working on vlan 10 on both devices.
The ports where I connect the AP are access ports on vlan 10 config as trusted.The trunk ports are also configured as trusted.The port 1 of ws 1 that goes to the C800 is also configured as trusted.
figure out why I’m not getting IP by DHCP when I connect the AP to the SW 2.The only I notice is that when I connect the AP to sw 2, I get on SW 1 the message of packet drop by option 82, but even after configuring ip dhcp snooping information option allow-untrusted on both switches, the problem persists.
I have a switch 2960-24TC-L with GEC (realised with 2 giga interface uplink) with switch 3750. the configuration is ok, the GEC is up and other feature working. I try to upgrade 2960-24TC-L from 12.2.44SE6 to 12.2.46 or 12.2.5x or 15.0.x...the upgrade it's ok the swithc boot..and the configuraiton is same.. but the giga 0/1 and 0/2 on 2960 not bring up....and the better the interface on 3750 are up.

Would there be any reason why a universal image wouldn't stack correctly with other switches running the single .bin file?

This means that from externaly, I can only access a single machine, obviously I can RDP from there but I need other services, for example SSH to another machine.
