Cisco Wireless :: 1260 Can't Get IP Address And Can't Joint WLC
Nov 24, 2012
i have Cisco WLC 2504 & 1260 LAP.i connect the WLC to L3 switch & connect the LAP to another port in the same L3 switch.i configure DHCP on the same switch to provide ip for the LAP , but the LAP can't get an ip address and can't joint the controller.also if when i login to the LAP i can't enter the configuration mode.
I am new in wireless , i have Cisco wireless controller 2504 for 50 access point, access point 1262 and switch 3560.i setup the controller correctly and i contect it to the switch and connect the AP to the switch.i can ping from the AP to the controller and vis versa.but the controller can not joint the AP.
We are installing 1260 Access Point (AIR-LAP1262N-E-K9) with 2 sets of external antenna:AIR-ANT2460NP-R (2.4Ghz, Patch Wall-mount, 6dBi Directional) & AIR-ANT5160NP-R (5Ghz, Patch Wall-mount, 6dBi Directional). What would be the recommended separation of the 2 antennas if they will be mounted beside each other?
i have cisco 1260 Access point with standalone ios ap3g1-k9w7-tar.124-23c. i download new IOS to connect the AP to the controller the new ios is ap3g1-k9w8-tar.124-23c.JA5.tar. upgrade th AP to LAP. is it just install ios like in router & switch by tftp?
So I'm going to bridge two Cisco AP's 1260 and 3500, which have an 880 router on each side.
(Currently I have a VPN set-up through the internet for the two locations to communicate) (Naturally they are currently in different subnets) Will absolutely change this and set up as one subnet. There is VLANs setup on each router (same VLANs)
VLAN 1
And
VLAN 10
Everything is configured on the Routers and AP's for these VLANs (works flawlessly over the VPN).
So now since I’m going to get rid of the VPN and set-up a bridge with two AP's, will having same VLANs across both routers be a problem? Will VLANs work OK through the bridge?
Besides using (IP helper address DHCP-IP) command on the non-root bridge side router to forward DHCP requests to the root bridge side router, Also I want to be able to route internet traffic on the non-root bridge side through the WAN port, and only route LAN traffic through the bridge..
I am looking to slowly migrate some of our wireless devices (Aironet 1231 and 1232's) to the Wireless N spec - 1260's.I currently have four AP locations that I want to upgrade first before anywhere else. At the minute, these four AP's work on the 2.4Ghz G band.
how the new 1260's will work in the mixed environment. I believe I will need to purchase the 1262 (which is the dual band version) so that I can operate the AP in both the 2.4Ghz G band range and the 5Ghz N range at the same time, is this correct? If I was to purchase the 1261 (which is the single band version), will I only be able to operate in either th 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz, but not at the same time?
For the mixed environment, would you suggest the dual band version? Can I place the same SSID on multiple Radios if this is the case? Following example: Say I have the SSID called 'Company' - this at the minute is operating on the G band 2.4Ghz range. If I was to purcahse the dual band 1262, could I put this SSID on both the G radio and the N radio? Would clients with an N adapter automatically connect to the 5Ghz range (N Radio) and legacy G and B adapters automatically connect to the 2.4Ghz (G Radio)?
iam currently trying to replace AP1231G-E-K9 with new equipment / Cisco AP next generation maybe? The problem is that the system, that is going to use the AP is using aironet 350 PCMCIA adapter with LEAP. If in fact we are going to use a new Cisco AP, will the new generation work with Aironet 350 Adapter and support LEAP?
I'm new to the Cisco Aironet Access Point. I got a new STANDALONE Aironet 1260 series access point device. The part # AIR-AP1262N-A-K9. The shipping package did not come with any guide, CD, and power adapter. I searched the Cisco sites, but could not find appropriate manuals. I did find a getting started guide but not for standalone AP, it's for Controller-based AP. Question - where can I find manuals / guides to set up and configure my new standalone Cisco Aironet Access Point 1260?
We have been having issues with random packet drops and or some sort of radio lockup which happens a few times a day. I have a test AP setup with a few clients only a few feet away and I see this combination of messages. Should I be seeing these clients drop off and then reconnect immediately? Granted these test clients are not passing much data but my assumption is that they would not become deauthenticated because of lack of activity? This setup is using a radius server for authentication. I tested it before with just WPA2 PSK and only had a few disconnected over a number of days, compared with many a day with the Radius.
I'm a little stuck with a 4400 7.0.220.0 + RAP 1550 + MAP 1260 Ethernet bridging issue. I'm using the VLAN tagging functionality and I'm finding that periodically a VLAN that I've tagged on the MAP will deregister from the backhaul and stop passing traffic. If I go into the Mesh tab on the MAP, select the wired interface, remove the VLAN from the list of tagged VLAN IDs and then add it right back to the list, its starts passing traffic again
I would like to buy Cisco Aironet 1260 Access Points, i just want to use them independantly so i want to know do they work without the Wireless LAN Controller? or i have to have the controller for them to work? they will be in different locations so i cant have a controller per each location.
Recently I have installed and configurated an AP 1260, it has already IP, SSID, and ping to the router, but after install the antenna I open the web configuration and see that it has 0 clients connected and the light is always green, indicated as only is configurated with nobody connected.
Tha radio setting is up, 2,4 Ghz and 5 Ghz any issue with the antenna? or i need to configure anything else?
i have 2 1260 Access points one is in root mode , one is wgb mode. Authentication is EAPFAST. There are 5 devices connected via WGB bridge to the rest of the network.
- If clients are sending some data , then WGB AP announces this client mac via IAPP to root AP and rest of the network sees them correctly - If clients are "passive" , then after WBG AP announces them to root AP , they timeout after 6 minutes on root AP and obviously they are not pingable from the rest of the network. The only way to restore connectivity is to ping that device from WGB AP, then WGB AP announces via IAPP to root AP , then and only then they become visible from the rest of the network.
My question is related to this 6 minute timeout on root AP . Is it normal behaviour ?
We’re deploying new WIFI towers at several of our vacation resorts and have decided to migrate from Wireless G to Wireless N access points. We currently have the following in each WIFI tower – Hotspot I’ve been researching and speaking to our partner pre-sales team, and have narrowed the choice down to deploying 3 x AIR-AP1261N-x-K9 at each of our towers. I have been unable to find suitable replacements to the 1watt Luxul 2.4ghz amplifiers we’re using, or really good N sector antennas to mount to the top of our masts. The 1260’s are all 802.af, so besides getting power injectors there shouldn’t be to much to think about.
What's the main technical differences among the 1140 AP series and the 1260 AP series?I know that the 1260 supports external antennas while the 1140 supports internal antennas, but apart from that, is there any other important difference ?
I was wondering if its possible to setup the Cisco Aironet 1260 as a WDS master with radius and another Cisco Aironet 1260 as a slave for seamless roaming. How many slaves can a WDS master handle?
I have two Cisco 1260 autonomous access point setup with WPA2-PSK. They are up and running. In that configuration it is Personal security since the security is only provided by the shared key. I'd like to add MAC filtering so in my open authentification I just scroll down to "with MAC filtering" and save. Doing that crash everything and switch to Enterprise security which need to have a Radius server (the shared key is not saved anymore and by using a device I now see 802.1x security).
I have CISCO ACS 5.1 radius for VPN on ASA and tried to configure an NDG on it for AIRONET 1260 too and worked fine with IEEE 802.1x CISCO EAP-FAST authentication As I had some trouble to let users to authenticate only on VPN if are VPN users and only on CISCO AIRONET if need only WIFI AIRONET I tried exception policies rules but something not working. VPN was ok but not WIFI access denied for rule policy access I decided to install CISCO ACS 4.x on Windows 2003 that is on ACS 5 DVD I created NDG as done on ACS 5 put a shared secret , put on AIRONET too as done for ACS 5 but I receive an error against ACS 4.x To troubleshout it I tried [URL] but not work ! I think to have done all fine owever on ACS 5 it worked in 5 minutes I searched log inside ACS 4 and found "Invalid message authenticator in EAP request" and I found this: [URL]Changed shared secret more times but ever not workign with ACS 4 I need to have user and password prompt on client trying to authentincate on AIRONET WIFI and I need ACS INTERNAL USER no active directory, no LDAP , no external user database?
I have 3 Aironet 1260's with the same SSID and set with Open Authentication with MAC Authentication. Can I designate one of the 1260's as the MAC Authentication Server? I have all 3 now working with MAC Address Authenticated ty Local List Only and have to put the new MAC address in all 3.

We have three Access Points, two Cisco Aironet 1260 and one 1240AG. Originally, the SSID was hidden on all three AP's and users had to go to Other Networks and type in the SSID and password to access the WAN. About a few months ago, the network started broadcasting to the public. I am trying to make the SSID hidden again. I have tried going to the Security tab, choosing the SSID Manager and setting single guest mode to none but it has not worked.
I switched from Time Capsule with AirPort to E2000 and have a problem with configuration.I use the same IPs as in AirPort and E2000 gives me an error:"The WAN IP address cannot be the same subnet as the Guest Network IP address" and I can't save configuration. But in my opinion they are different.I use "Static IP" option and I have IPs from my ISP: [code] So WAN IP is different subnet as LAN and I don't know what to do now. It worked with these settings in AirPort and here I can't proceed.
I am having an issue where occasionally the Sidewinder starts to see my internal RFC 1918 address instead of the configured external address of my firewall. This is for peering between the two. The error they see on the Sidewinder is:So instead of seeing the external peer address he sees a 10.220.3.18 address. We are not sure what triggers this becuase normally he see's my 63.117.98.222 address.
I have an old ASA 5505, and I'm having some trouble with Nat Hairpinning. I've done this with other firewalls before and I am having no luck now. I have an internal address that I wish to forward from an external address- so if someone goes to 123.456.789.012:3456 then it will forward to 192.168.1.244:92 (All numbers are arbitrary here- only for illustration). I have and Access Rule and NAT and PAT set up so that I can get in if I originate from outside the LAN. What I am trying to do is to have this work from inside the LAN as well- so that if I am at my desk, and I connect a device and type in 123.456.789.012:3456, it will deliver the content at 192.168.1.244:92. The problem I am having is that it just isn't working, and I cannot figure out why- When I started here, there was an address configured to work this way, and it still works- I just cannot find what is different between what I am doing and what the person who configured it did.
I have a Linksys WRT54GS v5.1 router running firmware 1.52.5.I am trying to use Linksys IP Phones SPA942, but these do not seem to be able to log on and just show "Initializing network" even though the MAC address appears in the router with an IP address. The strange thing is that I already have 4 SPA941 phones that work with no problem and just log on to the network. Is there something about the SPA942 that I need to configure differently, I have factory reset it with sucess, but still unable to log on to the network.
On my cisco IOS 12.4 router,Can i make it so only lets say mac address 11:22:33:44:55:66 able to use ip address 10.10.10.2?I want this so that only this IP can configure servers, and so if the computer using it is turned off, any other device cannot use the IP address.
