Cisco Wireless :: Antenna Separation For AP 1260?
Oct 24, 2012
We are installing 1260 Access Point (AIR-LAP1262N-E-K9) with 2 sets of external antenna:AIR-ANT2460NP-R (2.4Ghz, Patch Wall-mount, 6dBi Directional) & AIR-ANT5160NP-R (5Ghz, Patch Wall-mount, 6dBi Directional). What would be the recommended separation of the 2 antennas if they will be mounted beside each other?

Imagine AS65200 anouncing block 10.10.0.0/22 to the internet. Now for some reason we need to announce block 10.10.2.0/24 from AS65333.How should routes from AS65200 be announced now?
Can I maintain the whole /22 block since 10.10.2.0/24 from AS65333 is more specific? Or should I now break AS65200 announcement into smaller prefixes completelly excluding .2.0/24 ?( .0.0/23 and .3.0/24)

Is it possible to create a wireless site to site link using 1260 access points as bridges (like the 1300 series)?
Also if so, can you use 11n channel bonding on the bridge link?
I need to link 2 buildings together wirelessly approximately 70 metres apart. There is direct line of sight between them.

So I'm going to bridge two Cisco AP's 1260 and 3500, which have an 880 router on each side.
(Currently I have a VPN set-up through the internet for the two locations to communicate) (Naturally they are currently in different subnets) Will absolutely change this and set up as one subnet. There is VLANs setup on each router (same VLANs)
VLAN 1
And
VLAN 10
Everything is configured on the Routers and AP's for these VLANs (works flawlessly over the VPN).
So now since I’m going to get rid of the VPN and set-up a bridge with two AP's, will having same VLANs across both routers be a problem? Will VLANs work OK through the bridge?
Besides using (IP helper address DHCP-IP) command on the non-root bridge side router to forward DHCP requests to the root bridge side router, Also I want to be able to route internet traffic on the non-root bridge side through the WAN port, and only route LAN traffic through the bridge..

I am looking to slowly migrate some of our wireless devices (Aironet 1231 and 1232's) to the Wireless N spec - 1260's.I currently have four AP locations that I want to upgrade first before anywhere else. At the minute, these four AP's work on the 2.4Ghz G band.
how the new 1260's will work in the mixed environment. I believe I will need to purchase the 1262 (which is the dual band version) so that I can operate the AP in both the 2.4Ghz G band range and the 5Ghz N range at the same time, is this correct? If I was to purchase the 1261 (which is the single band version), will I only be able to operate in either th 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz, but not at the same time?
For the mixed environment, would you suggest the dual band version? Can I place the same SSID on multiple Radios if this is the case? Following example: Say I have the SSID called 'Company' - this at the minute is operating on the G band 2.4Ghz range. If I was to purcahse the dual band 1262, could I put this SSID on both the G radio and the N radio? Would clients with an N adapter automatically connect to the 5Ghz range (N Radio) and legacy G and B adapters automatically connect to the 2.4Ghz (G Radio)?

I'm new to the Cisco Aironet Access Point. I got a new STANDALONE Aironet 1260 series access point device. The part # AIR-AP1262N-A-K9. The shipping package did not come with any guide, CD, and power adapter. I searched the Cisco sites, but could not find appropriate manuals. I did find a getting started guide but not for standalone AP, it's for Controller-based AP. Question - where can I find manuals / guides to set up and configure my new standalone Cisco Aironet Access Point 1260?

We have been having issues with random packet drops and or some sort of radio lockup which happens a few times a day. I have a test AP setup with a few clients only a few feet away and I see this combination of messages. Should I be seeing these clients drop off and then reconnect immediately? Granted these test clients are not passing much data but my assumption is that they would not become deauthenticated because of lack of activity? This setup is using a radius server for authentication. I tested it before with just WPA2 PSK and only had a few disconnected over a number of days, compared with many a day with the Radius.

I'm a little stuck with a 4400 7.0.220.0 + RAP 1550 + MAP 1260 Ethernet bridging issue. I'm using the VLAN tagging functionality and I'm finding that periodically a VLAN that I've tagged on the MAP will deregister from the backhaul and stop passing traffic. If I go into the Mesh tab on the MAP, select the wired interface, remove the VLAN from the list of tagged VLAN IDs and then add it right back to the list, its starts passing traffic again

i have 2 1260 Access points one is in root mode , one is wgb mode. Authentication is EAPFAST. There are 5 devices connected via WGB bridge to the rest of the network.
- If clients are sending some data , then WGB AP announces this client mac via IAPP to root AP and rest of the network sees them correctly
- If clients are "passive" , then after WBG AP announces them to root AP , they timeout after 6 minutes on root AP and obviously they are not pingable from the rest of the network. The only way to restore connectivity is to ping that device from WGB AP, then WGB AP announces via IAPP to root AP , then and only then they become visible from the rest of the network.
My question is related to this 6 minute timeout on root AP . Is it normal behaviour ?

We’re deploying new WIFI towers at several of our vacation resorts and have decided to migrate from Wireless G to Wireless N access points. We currently have the following in each WIFI tower – Hotspot I’ve been researching and speaking to our partner pre-sales team, and have narrowed the choice down to deploying 3 x AIR-AP1261N-x-K9 at each of our towers. I have been unable to find suitable replacements to the 1watt Luxul 2.4ghz amplifiers we’re using, or really good N sector antennas to mount to the top of our masts. The 1260’s are all 802.af, so besides getting power injectors there shouldn’t be to much to think about.

I have two Cisco 1260 autonomous access point setup with WPA2-PSK. They are up and running. In that configuration it is Personal security since the security is only provided by the shared key. I'd like to add MAC filtering so in my open authentification I just scroll down to "with MAC filtering" and save. Doing that crash everything and switch to Enterprise security which need to have a Radius server (the shared key is not saved anymore and by using a device I now see 802.1x security).

We have three Access Points, two Cisco Aironet 1260 and one 1240AG. Originally, the SSID was hidden on all three AP's and users had to go to Other Networks and type in the SSID and password to access the WAN. About a few months ago, the network started broadcasting to the public. I am trying to make the SSID hidden again. I have tried going to the Security tab, choosing the SSID Manager and setting single guest mode to none but it has not worked.

2. If I have a 1 unit of AIR-ANT2422DG-R (antenna) , does the wireless access still work? Do I need 2 antenna
3. If I have a 1 unit of AIR-ANT2422DG-R, does 802.11 b supported.
