View 4 RepliesI have just moved and my ISP is the same ( Comcast) but I'm in a different region of the country. The former service (modem) was a cisco (1 port) that I connected my EA 2700 Cisco router to and it worked like a charm. My IP phones came right up as well. Now I have an modem/router combo (provided by my ISP) and when ever I attempt to connect to my VPN it will give me an error and not connect. I was told by my ISP that I could bridge the router and try that way.Do I need to set up all over again? or have the settings remained. Also I am unable to access my router with admin/password. How do I reset the password?

I can only connect to the internet if I am connected directly to my modem... the router does not recognize my computer (corresponding # does not light up on the the router). I ran Linksys setup disc and it said I was all up and running, but still cant get online with my laptop through the router.I am at a point where I have my default gateway address 192.168.1.1 and my IP address, but not sure what to do with that to get this issue corrected.

I am a Malaysian, using Streamyx here, I search some articles shows that the ISP given is 60.49.166.105 or 60.49.166.106. Am I right in the setup? Why I am still unable to online though successful to connect after the setup configuration?
I forgot it. How do I either find out what it is, or reset the E1000 so I can create a new one? (Connection now working fine. Held the reset button for 30 seconds, and conmnection pops right up again.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have changed the router username/password in the past and either I can't remember it or its not accepting what I am entering, because the router logon will not go through. I have unplugged the router for 5 mins and then let it come back on and still cant get in, pressed the reset button down and let it come back up still nothing, and I have unplugged the cable modem and router for five mins and then plugged them both back up and I still can't get the router to reset to the default admin password. In the past it has worked before but now nothing I try will let me into the router interface to set up anything.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis was for a WRT160n v3.0.02 I looked up several suggestions online and decided to update the firmware to v3.0.03 This seemed to only make it worse as I could no longer connect, and when I turned the router off and back on it would allow me in for about a minute and drop me right away.I started tweaking with the settings, and came across some posts here such as this one, started tweaking with the channel settings and everything. Nothing. If anything I somehow made it worse since now instead of dropping repeatedly it wouldn't connect at all except for about a minute after restarting router, then it would drop completely (I would either get the limited access notification or I simply couldn't connect and windows said to unplug the access point. I recalled I had another Linksys router that I wasn't using in storage, a WRT54G2v 1.0.01 so I set that up, no problems... at first. All other devices picked it up right away, but once again, my new laptop decides it's too good for the freaking network and drops it repeatedly telling me there's a problem with the access point.
So at this point I'm thinking it might NOT be my network, but my wireless card or something, I uninstalled and reinstalled, updated drivers, (I use a Realtek RTL8723AE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC) I even came across this article and disabled browser service and NETBios (including all other devices on my network). It brought back the network on my laptop for a bit, only to smugly come crashing down again.
I was given this router (it's my 3rd one) and cannot get the reset button to reset the password. I have run throught a 30/30/30 reset as well as just holding the button in for the standard 30 seconds.
I know the router works, as in i can ping it. It asks for a password when i go to 192.168.1.1, but *blank* and "admin" do not work. When i click the cancel button it displays a pink(salmon) screen that says "401 Unauthorized Authrization required". (all of this is when i am connected to it with an ethernet cable to #1)
When it's sitting there it has an led lit over power and one ove wlan which flickers from time to time.

It has been working for the last 8 months, and stopped working after I installed Direct TV App on Ipad..It detects the network, but not accepts the PW.... I have multiple wireless devicess connected to my network without any problems..The funny thing is that my neighbor brings his ipad to my house and he is able to connect..My ipad connects to any other network...just not my home network.. I contacted Apple who spend hours with me on the phone and suggested doing a full reset on the ipad, but still did not solve the problem..I called and already paid for linksys support ($62.95) who spend hours with me on the phone, but suggesting: "maybe you need to buy another router"...REALLY!!!! Again, I have 3 Smart TVs, Xbox360, and Wii, that are connected to the network just fine .even my neibor comes with his Ipad3 and connects to my network just fine......and I can connect with my ipad to any other network without any problems... BTW, I have already removed the DirectTV app from the ipad....but I still cannot connect to my network..

I purchased a E1200 N router and an older G Linksys router upstairs.When I got the N router I set it up a stand alone router and it worked great for a week or so. I then wanted to try to get both routers going to I changed the IP address on E1200 to 192.168.2.1....the router rebooted and then could not login. I am not able to get any internet conntion anymore. When I type 192.168.2.1 it goes to page can not be displayed, 192.168.1.1 same thing. Ipconfig shows some address auto address that I did not put in and i am also not connected to a modem. I cant log into the router at all.So reset: I held down the button for 30 seconds...let go and it blinks and then goes solid but does not reset. Unplugged router for 5 minutes tried again. Cant get into 192.168.1.1..will not prompt for anything. I have tried to reset this router about 10 times and can not get into the default login at all.

After changing the password and clicking on Save a small screen pops up asking me to verify my router's username and password. When I enter the exact same user name and password it does not accept them. When I try to enter the old user name and password it does not accept them either. I then try combinations of the two and it still will not accept the input. I have reset my router 4 times now and this keeps occurring. I am completely baffled.

For some reason, don't ask me why, I did RESET the router not thru the web nor thru Cisco Connect, but pushing the reset button at the back. I can't access the router anymore ! It keeps asking for a password that is never accepted. I have uninstalled cisco connect and tried again. Nothing. The router is not found. Keeps asking for a password. I tried everything: blan+admin, admin+admin, the password I used to have (provided at the cisco connect uninstall).It seems that the RESET never worked. The router is working thru cables, meaning when I can connect to the internet wired. But the router is never found wireless.How could I update the firmware if the router is not recognized (or if I don't have a username+password) ?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo, I've been having problems with connecting my HTPC to the E2000. I had an old D-link router + USB Wireless N adapter, but after the Dlink died, I bought the E2000, and upgraded to a faster N Adapter. Anyway, connection had been sketchy using the WPA/WPA2 encryption. I turned it off completely, and did get some better wireless speeds. I couldn't leave it open, though, as there are tons of laptops around my apartment that end up connecting to my network. Connecting wirelessly using that particular adapter continued to give problems. Two blackberries plus a Nookcolor connect with no issues (maybe because they're wireless G, who knows).
I then decided to reset the router by simply pressing and holding the reset button as I've done on all my other routers. It did reset, and reboot, but when it came back on, it would no longer connect to the internet. I've connected directly to my modem, and that works fine, but once I connect to the router...nothing. I did a hard reset (30/30/30), and that cleared everything, it seemed. The HTPC now connects easily, but there is still no internet connection. This is proving to be very frustrating.
Is there something I could have done wrong by doing that very first reset? Is there anyway to configure to get back my internet connection?
I wanted to reset my IP address, so I called my cable internet service provider and they walked me through the process. I unplugged the ethernet cable from my router and connected my computer directly to my modem. Then, I unplugged the coax cable from my modem, plugged in back in again, and within Windows did ipconfig/renew in the command prompt. This successfully changed my IP address.
Then, I ran my wires back into the router again (instead of plugging the computer directly into the modem). To my surprise, the old IP address was back again! So, I went into linksys 192.168.1.1 screen to release the IP address and started the process over again.
I got a new IP address once again, but now the Linksys router can't seem to figure out the new IP address so nothing works going through the router.
Cisco 7609 Router, Enable password unable to reset.
Many times CTRL+BREAK Key combination while booting the router does not takes the console to ROMMON.
Router boots using the IOS image in the bootdisk0: (For entering into the ROMMON, removed both the external Flash disks also - no use)
2 or three time in a day it enters in to the ROMMON while pressing CTRL+BREAK.
Tried in the ROMMON (one Sup is removed) with confreg 0x2142 followed by reset/boot commands, the router is booting with the startup config.
I have been fighting against this Lynksys cisco switch to be able to restore admin password, no success. Theorically, is just unplug and plug switch, press ESC and press option 3) Password Recovery Procedure. Then Enter and Enter and switch will boot normaly with admin/blank password, well, not work,.

I have a Linksys wireless router, model WRT160N. My wife got a NUK for Christmas and I can't remember the password to include the NUK in my system. I called support and after sitting on hold for 1/2 hour the tech came on and told me for $29.99 I could get my password reset. Is there a way I could retrieve the password myself so I can avoid spending the money?
