Comcast had us unplug our modem in order to upgrade to their new faster speed. now our wireless router won't work. We've reset the router twice. we can set up the wireless network but we cannot connect to it. The connection last for about 5 minutes and then we get an error, cannot read IP address. Comcast says it is not their problem and linksys says they can't assist either.
View 1 RepliesI have been spending days !!! trying to resolve why my laptop pc disconnects frequently from its wireless connection. No discernable pattern to disconnects, totally random. Happens in cycles of disconnect/auto reconnect or will go hours of stable operation. What I have noticed is tht the connection speed seems to vary, from a hig of 54.0 Mbps to as low as 2.0 Nbps. At same time the desktop pc (hard wired to modem) stays connected at 100 Mbps.Using RCA modem, WRT160n v3 router.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy E3200 is having issues with keeping the speed up on wireless G. I'm about 20 feet away from the E3200 and there is 1 6in wall between me and the E3200. My connection will not hold 54Mbps, its constantly dropping to 36Mbps, even down to 5.5Mbps faily often. Around 30 feet away there i will lose internet connection yet my laptop says excellent connection to wireless.

So not sure if they ever used it with Comcast.So far I hatve had no internet once I plug it to the cable. I have asked Comcast tech for activating this device. However they say it is not supported and they have tried sending it the Activation signal but they say it fails. I can see all lights lit up and go green when I connect this device to the cable, is there a firmware upgrade for DPQ3925 ?

Seem that only one of the routers will get an ip assigned from Comcast.Is there a way to have one ISP cable modem and create two different home networks with the two linksys routers, thus two separate independent networks?
-Network 1: public household use and family (Jane's wireless laptop, household PC's etc).
-Network 2: private household/company use and separate from the public family network (company wireless laptop/company PC, un-secure media server).

Purchased today 26th March 2012, used CD first as warned, followed procedures, will not connect to WAG 160N modem router. WAG160N has MAC restrictions but MAC of WRT160N added, both in wireless and as a computer. Still won´t connect, gets to 85% in wireless connect mode then fails, gets to stage 4 of router recognition and fails, saying check cables. Cables changed to know working ones, still no success. Tried pinging 192.168.1.1 direct from computer with no success, no access to router log-in page at all. WAG 160N has no problems.

I have tried mac address clone that was suggested on this forum for someone with a different router but still no internet to my computer, its all hooked up through Ethernet cables, the computer I have it hooked up with a hard line is running windows seven. When I plug the modem straight to the computer it works and I have internet but when I hook up the router between them it has no internet.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my E3200 that has happened at least 4 times since I first purchased, installed and configured it. Initially I thought it might be something with Comcast, but a) I never had the problem with my Linksys WRT54G router and b) It seems I can now duplicate the issue by saving a config file and restoring it.The specific issue appears to be somewhat random. At some point the connection to the Internet simply stops for no apparent reason. I am able to ping the router and connect to it. I am also able to drop and renew connections to the cable modem successfully. Furthermore, I can ping my network side of the router, as well as the external address handed to my router by the cable modem, and the cable modem gateway address, but still no connection to the Internet.The only solution to my problem has been to restore the factory defaults to the router and reconfigure it from scratch, which does seem to fix the issue for a time until it occurs again. FYI, I do not use the Cisco connect software because I have several custom port and QOS configs that are necessary for an IP Phone and other hardware on my network.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHard wired network (15 workstations.) I had a dsl modem connected to my network switch and linksys wrt54gs router connected to that modem. All hard wired workstations had internet access AND there was a wireless internet connection. With any wifi device I could access the internet.I switched from dsl to comcast. All hard wired work stations still have internet. but when I plug my wireless router into the modem (comcast business IP gateway) there is no wireless internet connection. The hard wired workstations can still get online and there IS a wireless network, but it does not allow internet access (page cannot be found etc.)
Comcast says it absolutely should work. Linksys says it requires simple reconfig of router settings (reset router, clone mac address.) I have read knowledge base articles from linksys and followed each step. The lan ports of the modem are all working if I connect to them directly with a laptop and cable. I have reset router multiple times, cloned mac address, dhcp release/renew.
My physical connections are correct. In the router set up utility, I can see the mac adrdress and ip address but can't tell if the IP is from the modem or the router. Default gateway is always 192.168.1.1 in the router AND in any workstation ipconfig screen. Ip addresses are 192.168.1.xx in ipconfig at any workstation AND in the router set up status.
I cannot access internet via router even if plugged directly into it. It is as if the router is not getting the correct information from the modem. However, it worked perfectly with the DSL modem the day before we changed.My workstations are all hard wired and work. I simply want to have Wi-Fi also... for phones and laptops w wireless etc.
I have a wrt160n as my main router cascading to an e1200 at the other end of my house. The idea was to enhance the wireless signal there. Went thru extended discussion with Cisco support settnig the system up.
Ip address of e1200 is set more than 5 apart from primary router, dhcp is disabled. The connection bewtween routers is Wan to Wan.
I have wired signal at the e1200 but no wireless signal?
I have a problem with my wrt160n and l2tp connection. I setting up router to l2tp VPN connection and speed of internet is down, and connection with my router interrupt very often. How I can fix it all?
View 7 Replies View Relatedspecs: linksys router wrt160n v3, verizon modem gt701c, windows xp service pack 3, verizon DSL, southern california.I have been able to connect to the internet directly through the modem only...but i need my wireless back working. I've reset my router a few times recently trying things i've read on forums from people with similar problems. The most recent thing i did was RESET the router -> connected modem/router/computer properly -> turned them all back on in the proper order -> check to see if websites would open. They didn't so i tried doing this, which was suggested...i plugged the router into the computer and enabled MAC address and then pressed the Clone MAC address button and saved....then I tturned everything off again and rebooted everything again in the proper order and still couldn't load any web pages. My modem and wireless were working fine for years...and then recently without me doing anything my modem kept dropping connection and the internet and dsl lights kept flashing and then going back solid....so i'd be connected for a few minutes and then they'd start flashing again over and over all the time. I finally called verizon and then had me fiddle around with stuff...followed all their directions...but ended up only being able to connect while directly connected to the modem. Even then, the modem was still losing connection and getting it back. (i was supposed to schedule a house call for a tech to check it out, never did) Over a couple weeks the connection ended up getting better on its own, so now it pretty much never drops out anymore. (almost) i've reset my modem, i've reset my router....i just still cant seem to get websites working with my modem and wireless router connected.
I have speed 12M when I connect wrt160n v3 through l2tp, my speed down to 4M-5M. When i connect modem directly to computer I get speed 12M.

However, since that change, I've noticed that the wireless devices, 2-laptops, are intermittently loosing their connections. . Every day for the past week my Internet access goes down. I have a netgear router connected to Comcast modem. I have to reset the modem then the router constantly and it gets irritating. I called comcast and they say reset them. But why should I have to constantly reset.... Sometimes I just ignore it and it comes back up later... what is going on??
View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving problems with my wireless router, dropping and keeping connection active. For some odd reason I keep dropping connection either wireless or wired. I have a total of 5 items going through this router. 2 of them are wireless and the other 3 are wired. The wireless items are a desktop computer that is using the Wireless USB adapter to get online. Sometimes it drops and most of the time it doesn’t have any problems. I have a laptop that sometimes the connection goes from strong all the way down to no connection at ALL. It starts at 54MBPS to down to the RED X over the wireless manager. Forgot to mention both of these machines are Windows XP. If I reboot the laptop, it comes up without any problems.
Sometimes I tell Windows XP to manage the Wireless connection and tell it to disconnect and re-connect again, it goes. Now for the wired items, I have 2 gaming systems and another computer plugged directly up to the router. For some odd reason when I double click on the internet, on the computer that is hooked directly to the router, it says page couldn’t be found. I know that there is connection and there is nothing running in the task tray except for the Anti-Virus and Firewall. The browsers that I am using are Internet Explorer 8 and Mozilla Firefox 3.0.10. Also checked on the back of the machine to see if I have link lights and everything is flashing. Finally, when I click the homepage or refresh button about 2 or 3 times, it goes through.
think that I am overloading this Router and it can’t handle it. I might have to look into sending "Keep Alive" packet setting on the router.
I got an WRT160N,when I had 5mb connection it was working normal,but since I changed to 10mb,it downloads at 40kbp-100kbp,The connection is very stable,but the speed its very slow.I try to download the firmware but its with .bin extension and I don't know how to open it.

Everything connects to the internet, but (D) on (iii) doesn't allow connection to the server (E). What can I do to make this work?
I've got a router in room where my cable modem comes in. In center of house, I have another router, N Ultra Range PLUS, WRT160N.
My laptop, which I use in front room near that middle room router and my husband's desktop, also near that middle room have no problems. My desktop which is right next to the main router in back of house (where the cable modem is), has the weakest signal. I guess that's because the WRT160N is further away from it and has two walls to go through. But most of time signal was good - just not as good as the other two computers. And even when signal was Low, it never dropped connection.
Recently I got a new smart phone with WIFI. Anytime I have turned on the phone and used it, I often then have to refresh my wireless signal or reboot computer because it loses the connection. I read somewhere on internet that this may be because of the additional device but again, it doesn't effect the other two closer computers.
Often my router drops connection to all my devices. Multiple times a day. It's only for a minute or so, but it's annoying. I'm using a Linksys Wireless-N router (WRT160N) with WEP encryption. I'm running two Windows 7 laptops, LG BluRay player, Apple TV, Xbox 360 (Wired) iPhone 4, and a iPad 2. It doesn't matter if I'm browsing the web, watching Netflix, or playing a game, the connection gets lost. As we speak it happened again. I have no clue on what to do. View 6 Replies View RelatedAs of last night my router has been producing slow connectivity when multiple users are connected to it, but it's perfectly fine when only one user is connected. I am on a laptop myself, but we also have a second laptop and a desktop where the modem and router are set up. I have upgraded the firmware so that is up to date. We have Comcast Fiber Optics so my internet speed is normally quite fast even when all of my computers are connected.
I am using DHCP Configuration. My Channel Width is set to 20 MHz and I am using Channel 11. The Security Mode is set to WPA Personal. I had it on WPA2 Personal but I read that changing to WPA Personal might work and so far it doesn't seem to have done anything. I set the Beacon Interval to 50, Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, and RTS Threshold to 2304. Everything else is set to the default factory configuration.
Just today I received a notice that said "Windows has detected an IP Address Conflict", but ever since I reinstalled the Firmware it hasn't come back. I've rebooted both my laptop and the desktop to confirm it hasn't come back as well. I've tried everything that I could think of including reconfiguring my router and restarting my modem as well.

I connected the Router to the modem, and all the wired connected PCs were working perfectly.But then, i went to the setup page to configure the Wireless settings, and as soon I changed the SSID name, the connection internet connection droppedThe only way i had to fix this was by making a Hard Reset.after that, I also tryed changing values and settings from all the configuration tabs, and the wired connection was working properly, but as soon i changed any value from the Wireless tab, the internet connection dropped (even, in the diagnostics section, i could not do a ping to google. It says unknown host).
The last few days I had been getting the error that: "Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration" whenever I reboot my computer. I have to power cycle the router before I can get back the internet connection. Checked on the web and tried various solutions which did not work. So I tried using various firmwares for the WRT160N V2 like V2.03 Build 7 and Build 9. Still did not work. Finally reverted back to my old and trusted FW2.02 Build 8. And this seemed to improve the situation. However, the error will still appear from time to time though not as frequently.

I purchased a commercial Engenius product (EAP9550) to amplify the wifi signal over to a secondary house (about 180 ft away, traveling through 3 walls). Configured as an access point, the EAP9550 received and showed signal, but there was zero connectivity. The tech support at Engenius has advised me to configure the EAP9550 as an access point. My linksys router continues to deliver wireless signal for its range, but is only showing (not giving) full connectivity to the secondary access point.
