AAA/Identity/Nac :: ACS 5.41 Same Username With Two Different Group / Shell Profiles
Mar 23, 2013
In my ACS 5.4 I want to have same useranme to use two shell profiles. Here is the requirement. One shell profile with privelege 15 for IOS device admin and other one with different privelege for WCS admin. As there can't have two shell profiles on the same authroization profile, I created two different profiles, and match with the ACS local group name. However whenever user tries to access it always hits the 1st profiles.

This question might actually belong under tacacs server but it's only happening with the ACE. I've configured tacacs on the 4710 and configured the tacacs server per the documentation. If I enter the shell:<context>*Admin default-domain under the group settings when I login with my tacacs ID my role is set to Network-Monitor. If I set the shell in my specific tacacs ID I'm assigned the correct role as Admin. We're running ACS ver 4.1 and the ACE is A4(1.1)

We are starting to deploy SSL VPN in our company and we recently purchased two ASA 5510 firewalls. I have already completed the initial configuration but I do have some inquiry on how to have it configured properly.
1. Employees and clients will access the URL
2. They will select the appropriate group on where they should login.
3. Enter credentials, etc.
4. Username/Password authentication is via RADIUS. The usernames were all created in Cisco ACS 5.3.
My challenge is, we have several clients and all their usernames were created in ACS5.3. Meaning if the configuration is just being differentiated by group settings, clientA can select the profile of clientB and still get authenticated. If that happens, they will be able to access the resources of each other. Also in the future, we will be deploying 2-Factor authentication for some of our clients.

I am trying to solve this problem without success so far. I have fresh ACS 4.2.15 patch 5 ACS installation and I am tryng to deploy it to our environment. So I have configured one 2960S to be my test client and everything works fine. Problem is when I try to create fine grained policies using network device groups and shell authorization sets.
I have created shell authorization sets called ReadOnly and FullAccess. I have also created NDG called FloorSwitches and added my 2960. I have 2 user groups called FloorSwitchesReadOnly and FloorSwithcesFullAccess. Now, if I configure group FloorSwitchesFullAccess and assign Shell command authorization set per NDG and then log into the switch, all of my commands are refused as unauthorized.
One thing that I have noticed is that if I assign shell command authorization set to any device ( in user group settings ) it works fine. Or if I create association with DEFAULT NDG in user group it also works. So my conclusion is that ACS for some reason does not associate my switch with correct group but rather puts it to DEFAULT group for some reason.

I am in the process of setting up ACS 5.2 for a network and have run into an issue when attempting to apply the following aaa commands to a network device:
aaa authorization exec default group tacacs+ local if-authenticated
aaa authorization commands 1 default group tacacs+ if-authenticated
aaa authorization commands 15 default group tacacs+ local if-authenticated
Once the commands have been applied to the device configuration I get "command authorization failed" when attempting to do anything. Taking a quick look at the TACACS Authorization reports I see a failure reason of "13025 Command failed to match a Permit rule" and under the Selected Command Set "Deny All Commands" is listed. After doing a bit of searching, I noticed some articles online that indicate I should be able to specify the appropriate command set to the authorization profile under the Default Device Admin policy. However, when I open up a Device Administration Authorization Policy, nowhere in the window does it display command sets that I can select from.

Under 'Policy Elements/Authorization and Permissions/Network Access/Authorization profiles' I have defined a profile and the following Attribute:Attribute = F5-LTM-User-RoleType = Unsigned Integer 32Value = 300.
My question is:How can I define the same as above using 'Device Administration/Shell Profiles' ?
There is a Custom Attributes tab but I cannot figure out how to specify the 'Type' field. (Under Custom Attributes tab there is only space for 2 fields and not 3 fields).

I have two Nexus 5520 running 5.0(3)N1(1c).
I have both boxes heading off to ACS for TACACS lo gin authentication and for command authorization. When I first set things up everything works fine. I have a shell profile configured in ACS with Cisco-av-pair*shell:roles="network-admin" to set the network-admin role. I even have command sets configured to deny the use of configure terminal as I am using switch configuration profiles. Everything runs fine. User lo gins are authenticated by ACS and users have the correct command set applied to them.
The problem comes when I make a change to a shell profile in ACS. Even something as simple as changing the name of a shell profile causes the 5520's to crash as soon as I try to log on. If I unplug the management link so that the TACACS server is unavailable I can log on fine with the local admin user.
The NEXUS console reports this error. (amongst many others)
EDNAM-NEXUS-2 %$ VDC-1 %$ %SYSMGR-2-SERVICE_CRASHED: Service "Tacacs Daemon" (PID 4331) hasn't caught signal 11 (core will be saved).
A show system reset-reason shows:

Could this be a bug with Nexus/ACS?

For ACS 5.4: In Network Access -> Authorization Profiles there is a Permit Access profile. If you try to edit it a message pop's up that says: "The profile you have selected is reserved and cannot be deleted or modified". What this profile contains in its rule base? If I wanted to create a similar profile what Common Tasks, or Radius Attributes would I need to use? The same would go for a Deny Access profile. I have looked at the Common Tasks and Radius Attributes for a new profile and it doesn't seem very intuitive.

I'm looking into a way of routing users internet connection based on their username or group in a windows environment. Currently there's two ISP connections with their own proxy server. I want a user to be fully redirected to one of the ISPs based on who they are. I was hoping via IE proxy settings, this can be accomplished, but it looks like the primary ISP connection, is still getting most of the connections/routing.

I have a new Cisco Secure ACS 5.2 on a VM. We want to use it to for administrative access to our Cisco equipment with TACACS+. I am trying to map user permissions to different groups of devices based on active directory group membership, however it is not working.
I am using an LDAP (configured for secure authentication) external identity store. On the directory organization tab, I have confirmed the accuracy of the subject and group search base and the test configuration button shows that it's finding > 100 users and >100 groups.
On the directory groups page I have entered the groups according to the required format. cn=groupname1,ou=groups,dc=abc,dc=com
I have a rule based result selection under group mapping. I have two rules in the format below.
Conditon
LDAP:Externalgroups groupname1
Result
Identitygroup1
I have the default group set to a identity group named other. My problem is, no matter what user attempts to authenticate, the Default rule is applied, and the user is put into the other identity group. This occurs when I log on as a groupname1 user, groupname2 user, or as user that is not a member of either of those groups. LDAP authentication works and the user is able to logon to the device.

I'm currently looking for a solution in order to restrict the modification of the host internal identity store (add or delete MAC host) per group. The default administrator roles does not include "per group restriction". Under the ACS I defined one group per department? My objective it to allow each department to access their ACS MAC database to add or delete MAC addresses as required.
How to restrict internal identity store per group?Do I need to create new roles? and how?I was not able to get an answer from the ACS ADMIN manual.

Does ACS 5.3 has a feature to allow you to change or otherwise manipulate a user-name value within ACS as an authentication request comes into the system.
We want to use ACS to authenticate users to a particular device, but the device does not allow us to have username's in the format that we require, and the rest of our systems allow and require.
We want a way of manipulating the user ID of someone logging into the system, so that when the authentication request hits the ACS their username is massaged into the format we require, before being further processed against identity policies etc.

we have a new ACS 5.2 server, and are having a problem with the case sensitivity of ACS. Basically, what is happening is that some users are capitalizing the first letter of their AD username, and it's causing ACS to deny their access due to the case of their username. For example:
Username yyy0h22 grants admin access to a device. However, Username Yyy0h22 denies access to a device.
Is there a way to make it so that no matter uppercase or lowercase, we are giving this person access? Without having to make a different rule for each permutation?

I'd like to know if there is a way to exclude passed authentications for a specific username from reporting in the Authentications-TACACS and Authentications-RADIUS reports?
We have a few usernames that are used in scheduled jobs. We only need to know when they fail authentication, so we don't need to fill up the reports with every passed authentication from these accounts. Can this be done?

I have a weird issue. I recently setup an ASA 5510 and had SSH working. To make it easier on my VPN users I then decided I wanted to setup a Windows 2008 Network Policy Server for RADIUS authentication. Ever since I added the RADIUS part to aaa authentication, when I use SSH to connect to the ASA it will not take the local user name and password I have setup. I can however get in using a Domain user name and password. Below is the SSH and AAA configuration. Am I missing something here? The username and password in the ASA is not on the domain and it's like the ASA is not even trying LOCAL when it tries to authenticate. I want it to use the local username and password if possible. I'm kind of new to ASA's..
On another note, I have never been able to SSH in on the internal interface. I always get a "The remote system refused the connection" error message. I can only use the outside interface.
Site-ASA# sh run | in ssh
aaa authentication ssh console SERVER_RADIUS LOCAL
ssh 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 outside
ssh 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 inside
ssh timeout 60

I have a problem implementing a NAR for a specific device group. I am running Cisco ACS 4.2 and it works fine for all the other stuff I do but this issue is perplexing me a bit.
I have a device group with Juniper devices in it and I authenticate using RADIUS (Juniper) as the radius setting. I have a Administration user group set up.
I placed a NAR into the group "Per Group Defined Network Access Restrictions" specific to the device group with * for port and address
I placed this group into both the Define IP-Based as well as the Define CLI/DNIS-based section.
No matter what I do I keep getting authenticated.
When I go to the passed authentications page I see my login and the group-name is identified correctly and the network device group is identified correctly too. The filter says "no filters activated". So how can I get this NAR to kick in? I would like to restrict one device group from a ACS user group.

I am configuring a new ACS 5.3 system. Part of the rules is that I want to match the users specific AD group membership, and match appropriatly to an identity group. What i'm trying to do is say that if the user is a member of the AD Group (G-CRP-SEC-ENG) then associate them with the Identity Group SEC-ENG. The under the access service, authorization portion, i assign shell profiles and command sets based on Identity Group. It seems that the ACS server will not match the AD Group for the user, and it will match the Default of teh Group Mapping portion of the policy every time.
I tried several configuration choices from : AD1:ExternalGroups contains any <string showing in AD>, AD1:memberOf <group>.Is there something special i need to do in the Group Mapping Policy to get it to match and active directory group and result in assigning the host to an Identity Group?
