I want to add a new phone line to a small office in a hotel. They have avaya phone system and they are currently using 6 or 7 phone lines. From the avaya wires are run to the 66 block and from there to the outlets. So i think i can connect a cable from the avaya to the 66 block and it automaticaly give an extension number, but how do i add a phone line number to that connection?
I have this phone that was working fine until a friend moved a desk and positioned on top of the cable the goes from the phone to the jack, he did it without knowing it.So we took the cable we went to the store a bought a cable for phone with only one pair of wire, we connected it and it did not get any line tone.I did notice the old cable have two pair of wire. But this is an office phone with two line number so at least one should be working right? I just realize this now.
We put an addition onto our house about 7 years ago and ran Cat5 throughout it. Now when I talked to the electrician about how to route our internet through it, he said the Cat5 with RJ45 connectors was set-up for phone, not internet. I was looking around the house and could not find a rack or central location to plug a modem into. We have RJ11 ports in each of the wall sockets so I am slightly confused. Is there a way to switch these connectors over to use for internet instead of phone? How would I hook up my modem to these ethernet ports? My plan would be to hook up two wireless routers from these ethernet ports. This problem comes to be because our house is solid plaster walls covered with bookshelves and the router (a nice wireless-n) does not even penetrate half the house.
omputer A connects to modum A thru phone line that needs to stay active for a system to operate. Computer B connects to modem B always using the same phone line a few times a month, what device will alow each computer to know and go to its modem, dialing in on one phone line for two modems, and resting in primary state for system A to operate as a Dialer.
Would one phone line be able to support two ISPs? The rest of my family is using an AT&T line and I'm less than amused with it's performance for 4+ people. I have an unused phone jack available but I'm concerned about ordering the installation package only to find that I need a new phone line)
I usually use the router supplied by my ISP in one room in the house which is where I use all my.computer stuff as I am the only one who uses the internet in our house. However, my sister is round at the moment and the crap router cannot reach her room or the lounge.I thought I would be able to connect a spare router to a phone line port in the lounge with the correct settings along with the original router. However, if one router works, the other stops working. Only.one router will connect to the ISP at any time, I want both to so that we can all use the internet.
how to use two routers on one phone line 5 miles apart?the phone co put an off premisise extention in two of my houses miles apart they said i could use the dsl at both location but would have to take my router back and forth can antbody tell me how to set up two routers on the same phone line in laymans terms and can both be used at the same time
My Internet is down. I appear to be getting power from the modem as all the lights are lit up. I have a wireless router. On my desktop I clicked on the Network icon and it said "3WIRE***" is in range but requires a Network Key (also called a WEP Key or WPA Key)? Could this be the problem? I've never had to enter a password to access my internet before. Do you know how I can find (or reset) my password? It's a D-Link router.
My hard drive crashed and had to reinstall my OS using manufacturers disk now everything works but the internet, the integrated ethernet card is not listed under network adapters in the device manager, its a clean install of windows xp media center edition 2005 sp2, the device manager shows no drivers missing.
i am using win7 64 bit on dell n5110 and my lan is not working properly. it wont even detect the cable . when i plug in the cable its like nothing happened. but when i uninstall and reinstall the driver, it sometimes resolves the issue. but i have to do this every time.
In a house that is too large for a small wireless modem to send a signal far enough, is it possible to use a second modem in the same phone line (not at the same time). Filters are used in the spare phone jacks. My main question is: when modem A is being used and modem B is switched off, is it necessary for the splitter for modem B to be removed and the filter put in its place? Or is the fact that modem B is switched off sufficient? I suspect that it's necessary and that's why my friend gets very slow download speeds even when the other modem is off.She insists that it used to work but I think she was just lucky if it used to work.
I want to put a laptop in the barn, with a web cam. I have a phone line (with spare wires) running to the barn and I want to connect my house laptop to the one in the barn. How do I do this?
I've got a problem with my phone line which is preventing me from connecting to the internet. In my house we have a phone line (Provided by Telstra) and Internet (provided by TPG)Recently at 7 at night all of a sudden our internet dropped out. I did some checking around and look at my modem and the DSL light refuses to light up.I disconnect the phone and modem separator and plug the modem in directly to the phone line. Still no DSL connection. When i connect the phone directly to the phone line (and when it goes through the seperator) it still works, but i hear strong grainy static through the phone.
I have a pbx avaya phone system with lines and extension number.I needed a phone with line and extension. So i run the ethernet cable to the office made all connection and connected ethernet wire directly to the pbx avaya, and i got the phone working with the extension. But my question is to get the line working and the extension i have to punch down the cable from the pbx, the ethernet wire and the pair of wire coming in with the line?
I have a phone line and am using a adsl 2+ router for my pc. Now I wish to install a new Tp-link adsl 2+ wireless router for my lap which is used upstairs. and I wish to connect this wireless router to the same phone line with another splitter.
I've got two houses about 5 miles apart anyway the phone co let me have an off premesis extention at no extra charge two phones that use the same number in the two locations they said i can use my dsl at the other location but i would have to use the same modem/router at both locations iam pretty sure i cant use the dsl at both locations at once but is there a way i can set up two routers on the same phone line where i dont have to carry modem/router back and forth.
I just moved offices to one where there is only one phone line - its an ethernet socket. I use the room two days a week, the other guy uses it on the other days. his computer is already plugged into it, how would I be able to switch wires when I'm in there - the yellow cable I have is too short to reach. What would I need to buy and is there something that I can put in the socket to connect both wires so I don't have to keep getting on my knees
I have a router that i want to connect to my direct tv box. The router only has Ethernet cables on the back and no room for a phone line. how can I connect the phone line to the router?
I was able 2 find my Evo shift through the ps3, but couldnt get online. I used Astro file mngr to navigate to visionary and run apk, usb debug and temp root but I can't find visionary. Rooting successfully has been difficult so far. Hardwire...maybe plug phone line from modem 2 ps3!??
iam having two PC's which are not connected through LAN. in our office we are having a private telephone network and both the locations are connected with this telephone network (MAX) connection. Is it possible to connect the both PCs through remote desktop connection through this telephone network we are having ?. we are provided with internet conncetion for one PC.
I have an Eee-PC and im trying to connect to the internet via my HUAWEI E173 MOBIEL INTERNET STICKWhen I plug it in it reds it, but only like a mass storage device.
I have network: 20 PC's conected to a switch (ordinary switch), from switch to a router (for DHCP and internet conection), Router is connected to a cable modem.
Lately an issue arised. One PC started having problem witch connection (PC is windows 7, up to date). PC instead of 192 addres is getting 169 (i need to highlight it is a problem with only one PC). That means the PC is connected to the Router but it is not getting proper IP addres. After changig the addres to static the connection ws fine for few days and then in networc connection icon (botom right) it came up with 'unidentified network' message. I changed the patchleeds, even changed the connection with known working line (from outlet to patchpanel) and the connection was coming and going. Then I changed network card with the same resoult. I noticed strange thing: While the IP is 169 or when 'unid net' when I unplug the cable from outlet then plug back and do so couple times in one moment the connection is back and stable but only for some period of time. Cables had been re terminated with new jacks and at the patch panel. Drivers for network card are up to date.
I'm currently volunteering at a children's group near me. They've just moved offices and are wanting a computer network in place. I have quite a bit of experience with hardware and software troubleshooting, but anything past the server is beyond me.They have a telecommunications box, as many places do, and the box has a set of patch boxes that are, according to the telecommunications people, plugged in and good to go. Each office has tunnelling on the wall with network sockets, again the norm.
I have found a great application that allows your PC to become a hotspot. It can also protect the wi-fi. Now remember whatever its your backend on the PC is what kind of network and speed you get such as, if my desktop connected through ethernet and I install the virtual router on the desktop than my laptop can connect to it depending on my Wi-Fi adapter on it. It could be B/G/N. B and G gives 54MBPS and N gives me 65MBPS.
Can I use ONE wireless usb adapter for two computers? Of course not at the same time but I was wondering if it is possible? Also, do I need to have the disc to install it or will the 2nd computer I want to use the wireless usb adapter for prompt me to install the software when I put it in the usb drive? I have misplaced the cd the usb adapter came with which is why I am askinit is a laptop and I know I can use ad hoc but I am trying to set up wireless on that laptop without ad hoc.
A few weeks ago, i noticed that my desktop was unable to access the internet, even though it shows that it is connected. i eventually decided taht it must have been a hardware issue, so i bought a new motherboard. after installing the motherboard, an a fresh installation on Windows, i saw after the drivers were installed that the same thing was happening. I pinged sites, and i got no losses on data. i also did a tracer, and it showed me that it is in fact connecting.
I noticed that when I connect the pc to the network(it is always via cable) it recognizes the network as "network", whereas if i use the same connection for my laptop, it brings up the network as "NETGEAR", which is, in fact, my network's name.
I just need to add new connectors and I'm good to go. The PCs have cabinets with Ethernet sockets in them and these will also need re-wiring with a RJ45 jack then a faceplate mounting as they are totally bare at the minute. Also, I think I need to learn this as a whole, it will become a regular thing, do I need the following tools to do the basics of cabling ?RJ45 Network Crimp Tool 10 Boots & Ends Crimping Kit Play.com - Buy RJ45 Network Crimp Tool 10 Boots & Ends Crimping Kit online at Play.com and read reviews.
