Jul 19, 2011Why do my connection not clear when my service goes to a down state. The only way I can get the connections to clear is by bouncing my content rule. CSS11503 version 08.20.4.05s - SSL all the way to the server --- I also have flow permanent port3 443 configured, but I don't understand why the other two servers go to zero while server01 never goes to zero. If I remove the flow permanent port3 all the counters go to zero, but I would think if the servers goes down then the connections should go to zero regardless of the flow permanent port configuration. May 29, 2012I know that it's possible on the CSS to handle multiple incoming HTTP requests that terminate on the same IP address and port and balance them to various servers based on the url. For instance, I can set up URL at the same 192.168.35.12 address in DNS, and set up two different content rules:

url "//www.cats.com/*"
add server cats1
add server cats2

vip 192.168.35.12

url "//www.dogs.com/*"

Easy and straightforward.
But what if I want to add SSL handling for URl. I'm not sure how to create the ssl-proxy-list where one content rule (ip address/port) combination needs to pass through the ssl module and get matched with the proper ssl certificate.
Can this be done? Can one associate multiple certs and keys with a single ssl-server entry and a single ssl accelerator service? Or do I have to create multiple ssl-proxy-lists for cats and dogs and build multiple ssl services each referring to a unique ssl-proxy-list, and then use the url parameter in the https content rule to determine which ssl service (and therefore which key/cert pair) gets the traffic?

Jun 13, 2011I am not able to find information of how to configure a balance in CSS11500 depending of the IP source. I want to do the next:
Site A : 192.168.1.0/24
Site B : 192.168.2.0/24
Both sites access to the same VIP: http://vip_balnace_IP but depending of the source the should be balanced to diferentes servers.
Site A -> VIP_balance -> server1
Site A -> VIP_balance -> server2
how to do that?

Jul 1, 2012This is a newbie question regarding CSS11500 series loadbalancers as I trying to get up to speed with managing them as part of my job. I noticed that there are a couple of CSS "clustered together" since I see they are managed using a single ip address.
My question is around how to establish a session to each individual device in this cluster, if at all possible? If is not possible, how do manage the secondary device in this cluster to perform tasks such as copying new software to it, backing it up, etc.?

Nov 7, 2011Any issues with IOS 12.4(16) through 12.4(25f) with HTTP/HTTPS protocols running on a 3825 router? I have a remote site that accesses a corporate application over an MPLS, sometimes it works fine, other times it will hang for hours. No errors on circuits, interfaces, ethernet interfaces, etc. Response times are averaging 50ms even when the application freezes. The only thing I can think of is that it could be an issue with the IOS version.

Now it appears that the server teams want all content encrypted.
1) What impact will this have on the CPU?
2) What impact will this have on Memory utilization?
3) Is there a maximum nubmer on redirects?

I cannot figure out how to copy this value. It is easy to add the source ip address by adding: " insert-http x-forwarded-for header-value "%is".
So how I am going to copy the Refere header?

Feb 27, 2012For a CSS with a SSL module (performing SSL termination) - is it possible to impliment a redirect on https URL to send to equivalent http URL.If my understanding is correct, the CSS will do SSL termination and then use an http content rule on the resultant http stream as it is recursively handled by the CSS ? This would mean that the SSL module has no way of seeing/acting on layer 5 and above data (i.e. picking up on a specific URL) and can not itself issue a redirect - i.e. you could not associate a redirect statement or service with the following ssl content rule ? [code]The CSS would instead rely on a http content rule to impliment a redirect - i.e. you would have to associate a redirect statement or service to the following http content rule instead?
But if the CSS is already handling traffic for existing url... traffic that is going to cause a loop when a client goes direct to. url...I realise the requirment is uncommon / a bit convoluted, its one of those don't ask type scenarios - aimed at achieving a specific requirement.Would the ACE 4710 be able to handle such a scenario any differently ?

Feb 1, 2012I have a requirement to load balance OWA 2010 inbound connectivity to 2 CAS servers using a ACE 4710 with sticky sessions enabled.
The CAS servers are currently responding on 80 or 443 at this moment in time. Eventually I want to off load the SSL to the ACE 4710, its currently running on the CAS servers. I need to enable sticky sessions to keep the session to the same CAS server for each internet based connection. I also have a proxy enabled for inbound connectivity so I cannot use source IP.
Here is my configuration but it doesn’t seem to be working, i am currently testing with port 80 connections not SSL.

Jun 19, 2012I am wondering if there is a method to redirect particular URLs to individual real servers in a server farm.Scenario: We have an url which is setup on our ACE4710s (A3 2.4) to load balancer to a particular server farm as per standard setup i.e.Customers access [URL] on an external VIP, this is then load balanced to a server farm "SF_WEBSITE" consisting of 2 real servers "Server_A" and "Server_B". Nothing difficult in this set up. However, I have eeen asked if it is possible to redirect certain urls to individual servers within the server farm "SF_WEBSITE": e.g.
Action 1 - Customers access [URL] is redirected to "Server_A" only
Action 2 - Customers access [URL] is redirected to "Server_B" only
Default Action - Customer access [URL] anything else is redirected to server farm "SF_WEBSITE" and is load balanced between "Server_A" and "Server_B"
The Standard Class Maps and Policy would be something like:

Where I thought I would need something like:

The https is working but i have a problem. when i access the Main link "first" it is redirected to https to the Main link.But if i access one of the Sublinks directly(without having to click on the main link first) the page is redirected to https but to the Main Link. i have to click the Sublink again in order to get the page.How can i redirect to https and stay on the same page? What might be the general link in the webserver-redirection?
