We have an ASA 5520 (local office) talking to another ASA (remote office) via a VPN Tunnel.
My 1st problem is that I cannot ping from my inside network (local) to the outside interface of my remote ASA.
My 2nd is that I have debug enabled on my rules but am not logging anything.
My setup is as below
inside host--> ASA1--Outside interface- layer_ 2_Switch1--outside interface--> ASA2--inside interface-DHCP SERVER.
We want that inside host should get ip from subnet 192.168.10.0 /24. This ip pool is configured in DHCP server (ip 172.16.10.1) which is connected to ASA2. There is no routing issue as we are able to ping DHCP srever 172.16.10.1 from ASA1. to do config needed on ASA1 and ASA2 , so that host connected to ASA1 inside interface can get ip from DHCP srever. We have configured 192.168.10.1 /24 to ASA1 inside interface which will be gateway to inside host of ASA1.
I have a Cisco 5505 with a security plus license and but I can’t seem to create sub interfaces on it.

I have a circuit that will be delivered to a client next week and we are installing an ASA 5585x for them. They will have a circuit coming in with a few VLANs configured on it. One VLAN for the Internet and one for connectivity to another client.
So does the ASA allow you to create the "outside" interface on a subinterface?
I'm trying to set up an 802.1 q trunk between my layer 3 switch and ASA5520. I understand I need to create a subinterface to accomplish this and have done so. However, the subinterface does not respond to pings, and when I attempt to run the packet tracer on the firewall itself, I get a message saying Flow is denied by configured rule. But the strange thing is it shows the output interface as "np identity ifc":
(The VLAN in question is VLAN2 192.168.2.3 is the VLAN2 address on the switch). The ASA config is as follows:
ASA Version 8.2(5) <context>
hostname context2

I am having an issue where I can't get to external network sources via my sub interface which is attached to a 192.168.10.X VLAN I created to for Guest wireless traffic. The internal interface is a 10.5.X.X network. I can get out the external interface, but anything that we have A records for such as our mobile iron server that we can hit from the outside via https and an external IP can't be hit from the subinterface at all. Would this be a DNS rewrite issue or inspection problem?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using a fiber optic connection. I want to connect it directly to ASA5510. A WLC2504 will be connected to ASA and one Aironet AP will be deployed at first. (At this moment I am not using any Windows server but in near future I will need to deploy Windows Server 2003 in my corporate network) My questions are:
Can I configure ASA as DHCP server for my LAN?
Can I configure WLC as DHCP server for my LAN?
If we can configure both then what is the best practice from above two options? (I am new to Cisco stuff and first time user)
I get the following message when appling "DHCPD ENABLE INSIDE"

We have a Cisco 5505 ASA fireawll at a remote site. I can get the firewall to issue the IP addresses to the pc's, Is there a way for the pc's to get their IP addresses directly from our DHCP server?

What would be the issues that I could run in to when I try to authenticate this server from the inside interface to the dmz? I see that Dhcprelay option is available on the PIX 6.3 I'm guessing this is the only command that I need to use: dhcprelay enable dmz
We've just started with the ASA 5505. We do run a DHCP server on the inside interface, so it is in the same VLAN 1 as all of the clients. However, we cannot get it to work.We can't use DHCP Relay, as the ASA 5505 only allows to relay to DHCP servers in a different subnet.Or do we have to move the DHCP server to a different subnet. If so, how would we configure that scenario?
View 13 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to configure a DHCP server for my internal subnet of 192.168.20.1 which is on a 3550 layer 3 switch from my 5505 ASA Firewall. My subnet of 10.1.1.0/30 is connecting my 5505 to 3550. All I'm trying to do is run a DHCP server down to my hosts. The only options on ASA 5505 is
dhcpd address 192.168.20.1 - 192.168.20.254 outside or inside, which conflicts with my subnet of 10.1.1.0 used to connect my internal subnet of 192.168.20.1 for the whole network.
When I used my router it did not need the (inside, outside) keywords and just an ip helper-address command. How do I configure my my firewall DHCP server to propagate the 192.168.20.0 network through my 10.1.1.0 connection.
Recently i had suffering with wireless connection problem, currently my wireless router connected to WAN directly, after that go into firewall and then go thru switch to end user PC, for LAN user there is no issue, but for wireless connected PC it is prompted with limited connectivity problem(DHCP is disable on router), after check with ipconfig /all. it seem likely due to wireless PC cannot get the IP from DHCP server. i am using DLink615 router. i had checked firewall setting there is firewall policy that connected all router ip into company LAN, but i don't think there is DHCP VPN setting up. is there anyway i can go thru firewall and get IP from DHCP server because if i set up DHCP on router, it cannot pass thru and access to LAN.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWe are in the process of upgrading our win2003 radius server with a new win2008 radius server. We have an ASA5520 and FWSM in 6509, using anyconnect client. This has worked fine until we introduced the win2008 radius server. When in the asdm on the asa, you can click on the new server and click test and authenticate ok with your AD credentials. But when try to use anyconnect on your laptop, it takes the credentials password and the accept certificate, but then fails with "anyconnect was not able to connect to specified gateway.." message, then "the secure gateway has rejected the connection attempt due to network connectivity issue...host or network is 0" message. We thought we setup the new radius the same way, obviously not. is therw an easy way to use debug on the firewalls to see what is wrong? looked in event logs on radius server, have not found anything.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two asa 5520 firewalls. one at my primary data center connected to our production Internet feed, and one at my fail over data center connected to a backup internet feed. I was wondering if there was an easy way to keep the firewall rules in sync between the two firewalls. We have failover with our isp that will move our public facing address block from our primary site to our dr site in the event of a disaster so the ip addresses will not change if we were to have to fail over to the DR site. currently i just have to do any changes that i make on the fail over server but would like a way to at least simi-automat this if not fully automat this so that i can eliminate the possibility of human error of a change happening at primary but never getting don at DR.

I have a asa5520 with five Internet IP.One for the internet interface and the others are static maped to dmz hosts. It runs rightly until yesterday. Now it will lose the connection to the gateway many times everyday and the dmz hosts can not connect to internet any time. configuration(simplified):
!
interface GigabitEthernet0/0
nameif internet
security-level 0

I called ISP to check, when ISP clear their router's ARP, the asa will lose the connection at the same time and then the ISP's router couldn't learn the ASA's MAC. After I 'clear arp' manually,The ISP's router can learn the ASA's MAC and the connection recovered, but the DMZ's cann't access internet still (of course,There is no problem between DMZ and ASA ,I ping the internet gateway from DMZ host and can not get any reply.).
We have 2 x ASA5520 and I upgraded this to 8.2.2 last year, I see 8.2.5 and now 8.4 is out. If we are having no issues, is it best just to leave it as it is? I can see a couple of features I may find useful in 8.2.5, but 8.4 seems like a huge jump and a risky one too.

By using Routing statements and statics I have been able to reroute specific traffic to the ASA5520 version 8.3 Now I need to inverse the 2 devices. The ASA5520 will be facing the Internet and the PIX will be behind it.Unfortunately the ASA5520 is refusing to route the traffic to the PIX. The access-lists are open accordingly and a NAT on the ASA has been created.
i have my router connected to ISP then my router directly connected to my ASA5520....i use also ASA5520 as my DHCP Server and i was wondering with the DHCP Server function of ASA 5520 because if i use the ASA 5520 LAN ip ...all workstation will not be able to browse anything from the internet unless i use my ISP DNS IP which they gave me?

After that the secondary cannot join as a failover unit and shows in disabled status. We have the same model ASA & CSC module and each pair of them are in same firmware (CSC 6.6.1125.0 with ASA5520 8.4(4)1), when I shutdown both the csc modules, the ASA failover works fine.
I am using a squid proxy behind an ASA5520 firewall to collect the users to the internet. Squid is just necessary to log what is going on in order to find a quick solution when the internet slows down.
Considering that I have unlimited licenses and I would like to get rid of squid, I wonder if the ASA has some functionalities to track which websites are being used and how much traffic is generated. If there is not, I would like to know if Cisco offers a good product to replace Squid.
Upgraded an ASA5520 from 7.x to 8.4 in one step? Release notes for 8.4 state that you can "...upgrade from any previous release directly to 8.4..." I've read the previous version release notes and see the various changes in NAT etc that 8.3 made.
