View 2 RepliesWe've in our company a Cisco Asa 5510 v8.4(3), Asdm 6.4(7) and a SSM-CSC-10-K9. The firewall is in transparent mode. I get an exchange 2003 SP2 server behind. When users trying to send mailing lists with many recipients (above 300), the Exchange server didn't send these mails. I'm pretty sure that this problem come from the ASA Firewall, because when I plug my server directly on my Internet Connection, the mailing list is sent. I've search on the web, and disable "ESMTP Inspection", but it didn't work. [code]
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a ASA 5510 that is connected to my ISP and the inside interface that is connected to my router. I have a /30 and need to determine if the configuration of x.x.x.121/30 which is my ISP and also the BVI address on the ASA. The inside router address is x.x.x.122/30 same subnet as my ISP will allow me to pass traffic. Management interface works using a different ip address but not able to get the traffic to pass traffic out to the internet thru the ASA
ISP-------->ASA-------->Router
Bottom Line is that I only have one usable address that is being used by the router and the ISP and ASA are using the other. Will this work?
I m trying to set my friewall in my network. The network is very simple. I have my router in 192.168.16.1 255.255.255.0 (mac-address 58-98-35-2a-4c-39) I have my switch in 192.168.16.26 255.255.255.0 (mac-address 00-19-99-5d-1f-43) and i have my firewall ASA between the router and the switch in 192.168.16.250 255.255.255.0 (mac-address 64-9e-f3-ba-28-c9)
So i need to configure 3 interface in my ASA.
- OUTSIE e0/0(I call it INTERNET)
- INSIDE e0/1(I call it LAN)
- MANGEMENT m0/0(I call it MANAGEMENT)
[Code]....
But with this config when I plug the firewall, i dont have access to internet anymore.
I am running a ASA 5510 in multiple context mode. IOS 6.4(2), ASDM 6.4(5)106.
In older ios/asdm versions it was possible to backup the configuration using ASDM.
In 6.4(5)106 i am missing this feature (see attachment)
Is it possible to backup a multiple context firewall using ASDM and above mentioned software versions?

I have two ASA 5510s running in Active/Active mode. I need to make config changes on them. How do I go about it? Do I power off the secondary ASA and make the config changes on the primary and then power on the secondary ASA ? Or this another way to do this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI got an ASA 5510 system currently in single context mode, with CSC SSM installed. Single ISP uplink to internet, no VPN. And now customer would like add another ISP uplink, without invest another box for HA.What come across my mind is make the current box into multi context. There's some area i need to concern and also need yours perspective on it.
Question 1: For making the firewall into multi context, am i need to do it from scratch, issue mode multiple command. Then rebuilt the current production config into one of the context, then another context meant for the new IPS uplink, and one admin context?
Question 2: For CSC -SSM licensing requirement, model ASA 5510 with security plus license is able to support 2 context. So if i split my firewall like what i mention in question, what exactly number of context do i own (admin, context A, context B)?
Question 3: For CSC-SSM module in multi context mode, so the management port of CSC SSM must attach at admin context?
Question 4: After configured all the policy and traffic to scan, how exactly i should do in order apply this policy to the interface? Should i only enable at admin context, then firewall service-policy rules, and apply it global, OR should i also do the same action on context A and Context B?
Can ASA 5510 be configured as bridge mode and still send Netflow info to a collector? We have a PIX connect internal network to internet. Because PIX does not support NetFlow, as a temporary solution, we were thinking of putting an ASA 5510 between the PIX and internet gateway, and configure it as a bridge so that there will be no routing issues, and the ASA can still send Netflow info to a collector.

RADIUS IETF Dictionnary is used for every device. all others Cisco Devices authenticate and are well authorized.

I would like to introduce a Cisco ASA 5520 firewall with AIp-SSM module so that all wirelees traffic can be inspected.

I would like to configure an ASA5512-X in firewall transparent mode, but I am having trouble getting ASDM to lauch when I do.
I have created a BVI interface with an IP address, and I hve enabled the mangement interface, but ASDM does not lauch when I enter the IP adress of the BVI I created.
Apprently you need to use the bridge-group command to assign an interfce to a bridge group. When I enter this command at the (config-if) prompt for Management 0/0, this command is not recognized.
What are the general steps for configuring the management interface to be able to launch ASDM in transparent mode?
i have a ASA5510 in the office, that already configured 3 context, namely, admin, user, server.in the server context, the last running config was not saved, and there was a power trip last friday night. 1 of the sub interface was affected, and i need to recreate that interface.I am getting the below error, it only allow me to do changes those pre-defined interface.how to I create extra sub interface?

I need to create a firewalled segment that not only separates hosts from general population, but also from each other. The solitary confinement of firewalled segments.I know that I could create a bunch of sub-interfaces, one for each host or group that needs to be isolated, but I'd really rather not have to do that if possible. 1) It could become a management nightmare between ACLs and sub-interfaces and 2) it's a waste of IP addresses.s there any way that I can create a bunch of separate VLANs behind the firewall and have them all terminate at the firewall, using a single firewall IP address for the gateway?
VLAN 1 - hosts 1.1.1.5 and 1.1.1.6VLAN 2 - hosts 1.1.1.7
Firewall DMZ Interface - 1.1.1.1VLAN 3 - hosts 1.1.1.8 and 1.1.1.9
This way, the hosts are isolated and can't talk to each other unless they're on the same VLAN.I'm working with an ASA 5510 running 8.2.4(4).
I have a ASA 5510 firewall with CSC module and Security Plus license for CSC module. Will you tell me how to configure my firewall to send emails to particular mail ID when someone login into the firewall or any virus attacks from outside.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWe were having a discussion of ios firewall vs. asa for smaller clients(less than 50). On using ios firewall(zbf or cbac)and an asa 5505/5510. One of the arguments brought up on using ios firewall on the router is that a router will do an ip sla failover. I have configured a number of isr's for this and i know it works good.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI would just like to to open UDP port 123 in the ASA 5510 Firewall so that our Primary Domain Controller could use this port to sync time with an external time source. We have already added an access rule for this port under the firewall configuration in ASDM 6.4 and this port was also allowed in the inbound and outbound rule of the PDC's Firewall but it seems that it was still blocked.

I have just configured identity firewall on our ASA 5510.I have 3 nodes that authenticates against Active Directory, using the Windows Server 2008 R2 builtin Network Policy Server: A laptop, a stationary PC, and a Android Phone. All 3 nodes are authenticated using the same user/password.
Now, in ASDM -> Monitoring -> Properties -> Identity -> Users, I can see two of the nodes with my user name attached to it, namely the laptop and the stationary PC.But not the Android phone.
Then it dawned on me. To set up the ADAgent properly, you have to apply 2 group policy entries. Unfortunately, those 2 entries are applied to the Computer Configuraton part of the Group Policy. This means that your COMPUTER has to be a member of your domain for USER IDENTITY to work.So my Android phone and other nodes not a member of the AD Machine Store will never be detected by identity rules, and can roam the network free.
I'm trying to install an ASA 5510 transparent firewall using ASA version 8.4(3)9 but I don't understand how traffic will ever pass through my firewall if both interfaces are on the same sub net(V lan) as the host and it's default gateway? The reason I'm doing this is were installing UAG (or Direct Access) and the UAG appliance need to have public IP's but still be behind a firewall (see attached diagram).
Looking at the documentation (which all seems to be for 5505's running 8.2) it almost seems like i need to have the transparent firewall 'in-line' to the ISP router?, but this router services another IP address range on another v lan for other (routed) firewalls (not shown on diagram) so putting it 'in-line' is not possible. Surely this can't be the case can it? If not how is it supposed to be cabled up and configured so packets go through the firewall?
I currenty have 2 cisco 5510 firewalls one of the firewals is completly dead but contains a Cisco ASA SSM-10 can i remove this card and just place it into a working unit, will i have any problems doing so.

If I upgrade the IOS of old firewall to ASA843-k8.bin the the running configurations does not work properly. It does not pick the network objects and NAT rules as they are configured with OLD IOS and running.
Or if I restore the configurations of old firewall at New ASA the result is worst. Even firewall with new IOS does not show any Access Rule and NAT rule and does not supprt network objects.
