Cisco Switching/Routing :: 5520 Tracking The Link 1 For Asa Firewall
May 6, 2013
I want to use 4506 to track link 1 so that if it fail the traffic will use link 2 to go to ASA firewall. Switch_1 and Switch_2 is configured to use VRRP where Switch_1 is the primary.Current configuration (which im not sure about it):Switch_1track 1 interface gigabitethernet2/3 line protocol.

I have already ordered a Cisco ISR 1921/K9. but as i read on Cisco website, it is written that Cisco 1921/K9 only support (IP SLA Responder) feature.
I don't know actually what is sla- responder. but our requirement is we will connect that Router 1921/K9 into 2-ISP links and i want to enable IP- SLA probes on that router so that it can track both the routes into those isp links. so my question is does CISCO 1921/K9 have the support for what i need ?How about Cisco 1921-SEC/K9 ?

I have a Cisco 3560X 48 port Ip base switch with v lan configured and ip routing. Ports 1 and 2 are in ether channel and routed ports to ASA and have their own network of 192.168.22.49/30. The ASA is configured with the same config for ports 1 and 2. The channel group ip address on the 3560X is 192.168.22.49/30 while the other end of the up link is the ASA and its configured with .50/30.
I have 6 v lans plus the one native v lan. They are all configured with ip addresses. Each V lan should be able to talk to one another other than DMZ v lan which is trunk and routed directly in the ASA. On the switch I can ping the IP address on the ASAs up link .50/30 but I cannot ping the ASA from any host on any of the V lans. My switch config file is posted below. The ASA seems to be able to ping any host in the VL ANS due to static routes that are in place. Why I'm not able to communicate to other v lans or even ping the ASA?
Config for 3560X

Building configuration...
Current configuration : 8056 bytes

I just tested IP SLA with tracking on a 3750 12.2(46)SE. And the configuration was simple enough and tested fine for redundant static routing: [code] Then I tried to do the same on a 3560 switch running 12.2(55)SE3. ip sla went in fine. But when I went to put in the track I was presented with "list boolean and" (for example) after the track and the identifier.I tossed in the ip sla "10" as the object. But shopw track shows the boolean AND as down. I don't get why the track feature is different in two switches so close in IOS version. How do I get the 3560 to track the ip sla as my 3750 does?

I am trying to implement static route tracking on a Catalyst 3560G ( WS-C3560G-48PS, IOS version 12.2(35)SE5 and SW image C3560-IPBASE-M). The configuration is as follows:
track 101 rtr 1 reachability
!
rtr 1
type echo protocol ipIcmpEcho 10.199.101.2
rtr schedule 1 life forever start-time now
!
IP address 10.199.101.2 is reachable via ICMP (its the next-hop router).
The static routes configured are the following:
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.199.101.2 track 101
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.200.52.1 20
But only the secondary route(ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.200.52.1 20) its being installed on the routing table by the switch.

I am using a bunch of Cisco 1721 routers for my T1 lines. We recently purchased Digi cell modems as a backup for the T1. On configuring vrrp to work on both devices I discovered that IOS 12.3(6c) does not support the "vrrp track" feature. After reviewing the Cisco Feature Navigator I could not see an IOS that will support the vrrp object tracking. Is that correct? The routers have T1 WIC's installed. If it does work what is the latest IOS that will work on this end of life product?

We use Cisco ASA 5520 (in HA configuration) connected to Cisco Switch 3750, ISP connection (25 Mbps) is straight to cisco 3750 switch. Since, Internet traffic is now high, a seecond ISP will be added. Our plan is to do Internet Link Load Balancing. My understanding that AS5520 can not do balancing. What appliance do you think I can use to accomplish the link balance? Also, take in consideration that our current ASA is also our VPN server and there are two DMZ zones.

I am trying to set up my ASA5510 the fail over of ISP when it can't ping three different IP. I create three different tracking to three different IP using sla monitor & track rtr. But when I do
route isp2 0 0 yy.yy.yy.yy 50
route isp1 0 0 xx.xx.xx.xx 31 track 1
route isp1 0 0 xx.xx.xx.xx 32 track 2
route isp1 0 0 xx.xx.xx.xx 33 track 3
the last route will replace the previous two and only the last route command takes effect. Is there anyway I can set up the fail over to ISP2 only when it can't ping three different IP from ISP1?

I have an interesting situation that I can't find a Cisco supported configuration for. My customer has a pair of 5520's setup in a failover pair and has two internet connections. The primary ISP has an Adtran router onsite, but the backup ISP did not provide a CPE router. I only found this out when I was onsite and needed to get it working otherwise I would have suggested purchasing another router.
I am trying to find out if this would be a supported configuration.
Here are the important parts for the way I got it working to fail over to the backup ISP and still provide outside access to critical applications. I substituted private IP addesses to protect the customer's identity.
interface GigabitEthernet0/0
nameif outside-primary
security-level 0
[Code].....
So as you can see the primary internet is all on the same IP subnet, but the backup NAT object is an IP address on a completely different subnet than the "outside-backup" interface. As a note, this is working perfectly and it is only a temporary situation, but if it would be supported I may end up using this configuration again as a perminent solution.

How will i do that? I have also a Firewall (ASA 5520) & a Router (2811) in up of the switch. Besides this, I have run HSRP in Layer 3 Switches for redundancy.how will i stop intervlan routing between VLANS except 2, with ACL or any other process has?

We have an ASA 5520 which is in multiple context mode. We are trying to pass traffic from the outside interface to the dmz interface. We have a /27 public ip range. We need a small amount of those addresses to be in the DMZ for SIP servers specifically. The rest of the addresses are NAT'd to the inside interface. So i created the outside interface GigabitEthernet0/0 with 1.2.3.192/28 Inside Interface GigabitEthernet0/2 with 192.168.20.0/24 DMZ interface on GigabitEthernet0/2.1 with 1.2.3.208/29 So all i want to do is route traffic that comes in the outside interface and out to the DMZ interface for the 1.2.3.208/29 subnet. I set the gateway address as 1.2.3.214 which is the DMZ interface address on the ASA.

I have two ASA 5520 units, both running version 8.3(2) code. Among many other uses, they have an IPSec tunnel between them to link office 1 and office 3 together. Office 2 does exist, and is connected to a different port on the ASA in office 3; there is no IPSec involved with office 3. [code] SAM can ping JANE. JANE can ping SAM. The Office 3 ASA can ping FRED. FRED can ping the Office 3 ASA. JANE can ping FRED. FRED can not ping JANE, by design. When SAM pings FRED, FRED receives the packet, but NAT has not been applied to the source IP address (which is what I'm trying to do, and which does happen when JANE pings FRED), and therefore FRED does not have a route for the response.
As you can see, I want to NAT any traffic going towards office 2 to have as a souce address the interface address of the Office 3 ASA. This is because office 2 has a restricted routing configuration. Recall from above that when JANE pings FRED, this NAT happens and everything works. When SAM pings FRED, the NAT does not happen, as seen in debugs collected on FRED.

I have two virtual interfaces on my ASA 5520:
GigabitEthernet0/1.338 172.30.0.81/28
GigabitEthernet0/1.345 172.30.0.129/28
I have the security levels for both set to 50 and in the ASDM I have checked off "Enable traffic between two or more interfaces which are configured with same security levels"
But now the need has arisen that we allow each subnet to be routable to each other for SMTP traffic, how can I accomplish this?

Now people can vpn and authenticate to the MS radius inside but cannot access any network resources nor ping anything inside.

To my surprise when configuring a 2800 series router (after sucessfully configuring a 1800 series on the same infrastructure), a 2821 with IOS 12.4(24)T2 IPbase, the commands for ip sla object tracking don't show up.The feature navigator says the router supports this, but it just won't take the commands (also tried older versions of the commands such as "ip sla monitor.." and "rtr .." to no avail).

If I have an ASA 5520 with an INSIDE interface, a DMZ interface and a WAN interface what would be the best way to configure NAT? If I configure nat-control and a nat (inside) 1 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 this will configure everything to be NAT'd when passing from the INSIDE interface out.My question is what about the devices I want to access in the DMZ from the inside for management etc? I'm guessing the ASA isn't smart enough to realise you're accessing hosts in it's DMZ interface so do you have to configure a nat 0 rule for every subnet within the DMZ you want to access or is there an easier way to do it? It's worth noting that the same devices will be accessing the OUTSIDE network and the DMZ network from the INSIDE network.

I'm attempting to configure two ASA 5520 for active/standby failover. When I enter the “failover” command to enable the config on the primary ASA, the entire routing table disappears. There is no routing process running, only static routes are configured.
Is this an expected behavior of the failover process and if so, how long should I wait for the routes to come back?

I've just started a CCNA course and my lack of knowledge has me a bit stuck. My network is comprised of Cisco components and I'm semi familiar with them just from reading and looking through options. I currently am using a Cisco ASA 5520 on my network and I am trying to join another network via one of the interfaces. My network is 192.168.0.0 255.255.0.0 and my inside interface is 192.168.1.1 255.255.0.0. I enabled a second interface using a static ip of 10.0.0.1 with a subnet of 255.255.255.128. Connected to that interface, I have a Fortigate firewall at 10.0.0.2 255.255.255.128. I can ping just fine from the Fortigate network to the 10.0.0.1 interface on the Cisco ASA 5520 network, but I can not ping the 10.0.0.1 interface (or anything past it) on the ASA 5520 from any computer on the Cisco network. I've read that ACL's and NAT have to be done as well as enabling traffic between interfaces with the same security levels. (both interfaces have security levels of 100 and the option is checked to allow traffic).
Note: each network has it's own internet connection. The connection is to share information on servers on both networks with each other.

Currently, we have a Cisco router (28xx), ASA 5520, and a core switch 4500. We have different vlans. We also have Auto QoS running for our Cisco IP Phones. My manager just asked me to see if I can either reserve some certain bandwidth for one vlan, or give that vlan higher priority on internet traffic than the others.
1.) Anyway we can reserve some more bandwidth for one vlan than other vlans?
2.) If #1 cannot be done, how can we provide higher priority on the internet traffic to one vlan than the others?
3.) Is #1 or #2 the same config? If not, which one would be easier (without changing our current QoS settings)?
4.) If 1 or 2 can be done, which device I should config the settings on?
5.) This question may be duplicate, but do we need to reset our current QoS to achieve the goal?

I have an ASA that houses 11 VLANs, and I am trying to add a 12th.One of the VLANs is for PCs that have internet only access. The new VLAN will be similar, but for multifunction printers only.VLAN 99 is for internet only and works fine, I can ping the gateway of 10.99.3.33 from any PC in that VLAN.I am creating VLAN 98, modeling it after VLAN 99, and I cannot get a PC in the vlan to ping the gateway of10.98.3.17.Both switch and ASA show the new VLAN 98 as UP, switchport is UP/UP.I have deleted and recreated VLAN 98 a few times, but I cannot get a PC VLAN 98 connectivity.Once it is working on the core switch, I will add it to the trunk to the IDS switches. VTP is not in use, everything is manual. [code]

I'll have to replace an old WS-C3550-24. Reasons for this: EOL/EOS & we'll need a NAT capable device...
As I understood, the only L3 catalyst that is able to perform NAT is a 6500? Is that correct? If the above is correct, it seems I can only replace the setup by using a router/ASA with a L2 switch. A router with high throughput (+/- 300Mbps) is hard to find, especially as NAT will require CPU resources...
So, my best (affordable price) solution is getting an ASA5520 (450Mbps FW throughput) and a L2 switch?

I am desperate to make some kind of translation which convert an outside IP Address of our web server to its inside ip address so that requests can be routed internally to the server.
This is what we have: A wireless network with an SSID to serve visitors. We also have an in-house web server which can be accessed internally and externally. We have a ASA 5520 that protects the internal network, including the Web server, and also routes all traffic from the all visitors connected to the public SSID to the outside. The DHCP server for the wireless network for visitors is configured to give the 8.8.8.8 as dns server. The problem with that is that the www.ourwebserver.com is resolved by Google's dns server to the public IP Address of our web server! The traffic then is sent to the outside interface of the ASA 5520. The visitor who wants to access our web server cannot connect!
How can I configure the ASA to route that traffic to our web server with the public ip address to the inside ip address of the web server?
