Cisco :: Difference Between CIDR And Route Summarization?
Jul 4, 2012Every time I see one of these words in a text book I start thinking 'isn't this the same thing as CIDR?' or 'isn't this the same thing as Route Summarization.'

View 5 RepliesI'm running IP Base on my Catalyst 3560. I'm aware of the fact that this license only allows for EIGRP stub routing - this is desired. However, I don't seem to be able to run the "no auto" command to disable auto-summarization. The command works, but doesn't make it into the running config.
3560-1(config-router)#no eigrp stub connected
EIGRP is restricted to stub configurations only on this platform.
3560-1(config-router)#no auto
[Code].....
Not a huge deal since a "show ip prot" indicates that auto-summarization is already disabled, so I'm guessing this is why "no auto" will not take. Why auto-summarization is disabled by default in my scenario?
What is meaning of CIDR in TCP/IP ?I searched it in google but not find satisfied, ig we choose diff Example.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm configuring my new ISP-provided Ubee DVW3201B Home Gateway. In doing this, I'd like to set up my own home network configuration which uses classless subnets. (i.e.: A subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 in 172.16.x.x IP space.) However, I don't see any options in the LAN configuration which allow me to set a custom subnet mask. Is this a feature not available on this device? Does it default to classful subnet masks, or only use a /24 mask?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi run a web server out of my home hosting a website that can get several hundred people visiting simultaneously. im currently attempting to upgrade my DD-WRT flashed WRT54G V2 router with a cisco rv120w in order to sustain more simultaneous connections (existing router locks up after a few hundred). due to the amount of spam i get on my forum, particularly from IPs originating from asia pacific networks, i block all access from those IPs utilizing the IP address and CIDR. the rv120w has starting IP and ending IP to apply a rule to, but id like to block using my existing addresses from asia pacific networks with their applicable CIDR.
View 1 Replies View Relatedif I can do the following deployment using a Cisco ASA5510 security plus.
At this moment I have two interfaces in use one (outside) with the IP: 172.16.21.254/24 and the other (inside) with the IP: 192.168.4.1/24. Now the customer needs to connect another network that works with the IP segment: 192.168.0.0/22.
The IP segment 192.168.0.0/22 goes from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.3.254 that means that there is no a overlap with the network segment 192.168.4.0/24. My question is: If I configure another interface in the ASA that works in the segment 192.168.0.0/22 the routing table will auto-summary the network and merge it with the network 192.168.4.0 or will it leave the networks apart??
I don't user dynamic routing protocols but I cannot do the changes if I have doubts because the network 192.168.0.0/22 is a the Network for the Factory Automation Systems.
I've enabled antispoof on all interfaces on asa 5510.If you start a traceroute to a network on the default route, everything works, since replies comes to an interface with route 0.0.0.0/0 defined. If you start a tracer route to a network that is NOT on the default route (let's assume coporate MPLS), you only get response from first carrier router, the other are discarded because of anti spoof violation.
I have ICMP inspection and icmp-error inspection enabled.

When both the standards have been originated from OFDM and provides maximum Data rate of 54 Mbps. They have almost similar features and the only difference is of Frequency range they work on i.e. 5 Ghz and 2.4 Ghz respectivity. If they both have so many similarities then why there are 2 different standards - a and g. Just due to the frequency bands are different ?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem in understanding how LLQ is implemented in different platforms of Cisco.QoS should kick in only when there is a congestion in the link irrespective of queueing / scheduling (LLQ and CBWFQ).But in certain platforms like GSR and IOS-XR, LLQ is confiugred only with priority and police command not with "prioirity percent <value>" command. In priority and police command since policer is used, LLQ is always on even there is no period of congestion. Of course with police you can re-mark the exceed traffic to different marking but thats not the requirement in my case.
In platforms like 7206, LLQ is configured with "prioirty percent <value>" which works ideally only when there is a period of congestion. When there is no congestion, LLQ class can use scanvenge other classes as well.Would like to know is there any specific reason why there is a difference in the implentation of LLQ between different platforms of Cisco.
I have both here in front of me and they look identical and run the same software..

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I start a web browser based application with a URL beginning with the 192 IP address. it runs as it should including the script dbscript.php which executes a MySQL commit unit. However when I start the application with the same URL but beginning instead with "localhost", it fails during the commit unit. It puts a blank screen up (rather than a Succesful or Failed commit screen) and leaves an error message in the Apache error_log indicating a problem with dbscript.php (which does the commit).I assume the 192 IP address is that of my modem. I assume that because the application will not start with the 192 URL if the modem is switched off. The application will start whether the modem is on or off if the URL begins with "localhost".I have checked all hosts files that are on the system and see nothing amiss there -- they are all defaults and no changes have been made by me.
