I have a WAG160n v1 annexA with lateset firmware which was working good. Until yesterday, when I founded continuously resetting. I starts and then power led switches off and all internet leds switch on and the keeps repeating the same thing. I tried resetting by pressing the button for 5 sec, the power led turned red and then started blinking red. Left it for some time (1min) and then powered off the modem and again powered it on. Nothing change. I connected it to my laptop and then I powered off both of them and powered them on, first my modem and then my laptop.
I have a WAG160N with firmware V1.00.16 (version 1 device). The router is connected via ethernet to my main iMac running Lion 10.7.2, although the issue's I'm having have occurred for some time before upgrading to Lion or its's latest update.Firstly, devices I connect to the router wirelessly such as my iPad and iPhone will allow me to use the internet on said devices for about ten minute then the internet will simply stop. The device is shown as connected (checking the wifi settings on iPad etc show the router is still seen). If I switch WI-FI off on the device, then back on, internet is restored. It's not an internet provider issue as I can use the net all day on my ethernet-connected iMac without a problem. My printer is connected to my iMac via USB and shared with other devices. It is seen on my Macbook which connects wirelessly via the router. If I try to print from the macbook, the print job will not progress until I re-start the router. Likewise, there are applications that I sync between my ipad and iMac via iTunes with my mac connected via the USB cable. The iPad will not bee seen by the iMac unless I re-start the router. My Apple TV will only sync wirelessly with the iMac if I re-start the router.
I purchased a new WAG160N router a few months ago and recently I have been having major problems with connectivity. The problem is that it resets itself at seemingly random times. I see it happening. The red power light starts flashing red and then the other lights slowly turn green as it re-establishes connection to the internet.
This is becoming extremley frustrating as I do online gaming with my XBOX 360.I use wired connections using ethernet cables. One to my laptop. And one to my XBOX 360.I have contacted my ISP who have done line checks and I have had an engineer look at my line and all is good. I have also replaced all cables to/from the router including phone cords and ethernet cords. EVERYTHING is new.I recall one incident in which my internet was down and I just couldnt get connection AT ALL. I rang my ISP and they got me to log into my modem settings. The settings were all altered for some reason and I have no idea why. When they told me to enter the details in the settings the internet worked immediatley.
Last night we had some pretty bad lightning and thunder and our Linksys WAG160N appears to have had a bit of a fright. As I was going round unplugging items in case of a hit (this was after a flash or two, relatively nearby), all the lights on the router were off except for the ethernet light (plugged into a Linksys homeplug adaptor). Now the router doesn't appear to boot. When powered on, the power light doesn't flash or anything to indicate booting up, all you get is the ethernet light (if connected) after a few seconds, but no activity. I'm presuming something has been fried or corrupted? I'm not sure if we did have a power spike either through the mains or phone line as all other equipment seems to be fine, but I'm wondering the the homeplug connection might of had something to do with it after reading a few posts from others on the subject.I've held in the reset button while starting and it doesn't appear to have done anything. I will try the 30/30/30 reset tonight.
I have bought a DIR 615 router one week ago and although my main goal was to use it at better wireless speeds (using the N feature) it turned out that I can only use it as a normal router. The hardware version is H1 and the software ver is 8.0.
The problem is that whenever I turn on the wireless with default configuration, the router immediately starts resetting by itself over and over again. Sometimes it doesn't reconnect, but as soon as I try to connect to it using one of my laptops, it immediately starts restarting. After it starts the continuous resetting, it is very hard to reset its settings using the hardware reset button, because I don't even have time to press it for 10 seconds. If the wireless is turned off, everything works.
I have a WAG160N wireless gateway . Yesterday when i tried to power it on after a couple of seconds the power led was solid green and the Ethernet leds were blinking with no Ethernet cable attached to the router . The ethernet leds would keep blinking for minutes . I tried to use a screwdriver to do a hardware reset ( with power on ) and i noticed that the power led would start blinking green/red for minutes . I tried to use another wired router which i have for backup and it could connect to the internet normally without a problem.
What the green / red blinking power led means ( power led is green and then changes to red and then it starts over ) ?
I have a WAG120N, its nearly dead,I tried resetting it many times, it still wouldn't work. The WiFi LED blinks continuously and uniformly. There is no WiFi, no access to router, the only thing that is working is the switch.
I've just been sent a new ADSL modem router by my new broadband supplier and plan on using it. However, my question is, can use my old wag160n to replace one of these, which im currently using to connect an old xbox to my wireless network, but also make use of the other lan ports on the wag (i.e. Connect more than one non wireless device to the wag and gain access to my wifi network?)

My ISP says that there are no troubles with the line and it can be an issue of the modem...
When I enable the debug with ?todo=debug shall I see more info in the logs ?How to stop the debugging ?How to print the logs ?What is the difference with debug and ppp_debug ?What is the effect of the sendlog command ? I didn't receive any email with a log !
Struggling to enable Airplay using a WAG160N. Any settings I need on the router? Looking on forums, came across suggestion to disable WMM support. This seemed to work and i had Airplay but now I've lost it again.
I hard reset the router WAG160N and i can't access it on 192.168.1.1, i can connect to the wireless connection but it shows unindentified network, in properties gateway IP is absent. i also get 169.254.1.38 as IPv4.What could have happened to the modem, I can't use it at all at the moment?
Two years ago I bought a WAG160N for modem (ADSL) and router functionality. I consider to buy a pure router (E3000 or E4200) to connect to the WAG160N and use that one purely as the modem. How and what should I configure/disable on my WAG160N?
I can no longer access the internet, and the internet has been difficult to bring up for one to two weeks.Internet light does not come on. Under Status tab, interface is down, tried refresh and connect but nothing. The IP address can be pinged, 4 packets sent and 4 packets received. Tried resetting defaults and refreshing but no success.Bought this router in September 2008 to replace WAG54G which was constantly turning on and off every few seconds.
Some years ago i have buyed a WAG160N i haven't never used, because once i plug it power, it start to reboot and reboot in a loop...Is there something to do with it or should i put it in the trash ? Firmware using is probably Ver.1.00.15?
I have a WAG160 setup to use the one fo the LAN ports as a WAN connection. The issue is every now and again the internet connection drops and it seems it is unable to communicate with the DNS server that is providing the internet connection.
Any hardware that can re-boot a DSL router such as the WAG 160N when the router no longer passes traffic ? Today, while the DSL line and the Internet appeared to be working, I could not log in to the router from a LAN machine and I had to power it off and on again by hand.We have a number of surveillance cams on the LAN and this must not happen, that the cams cannot be accessed, in particular if nobody is on site for a few days.Unfortunately, the WAG 160N does not have a daily re-boot option. What can one do except for installing a timer that switches the power to the router off and and on again ?
I'v just changed my internet provider. That new one uses Annex b, my wag160n is purposed to annex a. Thats what i'v done. Turn on bridge mode turn off dhcp, set PPPoE with my login and password. And here is my problem. I cant connect by wifi with more then 1 device. I can only connect with my laptop when i'm trying to connect on my xbox it says it cannot get ip adress from router. What shoudl i change ?
i trried te update the firmware of my WAG160N. I had to choose between two versions. I tried both. But both versions give the message that is the wrong version and the installations stops.
I have a wag160n and would like to disable the wireless and use as a wired ASDL modem. I can't see any obvious settings I'm the setup or buttons on the unit but was wondering if I were to set the DHCP to disable if
My Linksys WAG160N has worked fine for 2 years however all of a sudden when I power it up it's start normal but after 4 seconds all ethernet lights blink one time and all start from the beginning, it's like it reboot every four seconds. It happens so quick I can't even get to the Internet/Network Settings in WIndows Control Panel.I have tried accessing router setup and installing firmware and both have failed - it can not find the network address. If I try to reset with the reset button on the rear (30sec reset), it stops rebooting and the power LED starts to blink red/green and the ethernet LED of the port where my cable is connected starts to blink alsoI have set IP address manually on my computer as per the Cisco support pages (192.168.1.1), still no response from ping.I have also tried to reinstall firmware using TFTP but it also fails because it can not find the network address.
I have a WAG160N wireless router that I want to use to repeat a wireless signal that is delivered by our ISP who installed broadband in our cottage, not our house (long story, we live rurally, so I won’t get into it).
So I understand I can simply plug my Linksys to power and that will pick up the signal inside our house (which it does, and we get an excellent strength signal).I further understand that I have to configure the Linksys so it talks to the modem provided by the ISP and which is about 50 metres awayFrom the Cisco website and my own docs I know the first step is to search the IP address online [url].,..
I need to replace a failing AG241v2 and I am going to use a WAG160N.I problem is I notice there are two versions of WAG160N, v1 has a RJ45 port for the DSL and v2 a RJ11 port.AG241v2 has a RJ45 so the cable I was using was a Ethernet cable. Now this cable doesn't fit, of course it is bigger, I tried with a RJ11 cable but DSL light doesn't show up, it looks like it is not receiving any signal. Is there any adaptor or any cable to use WAG160Nv2 or should I replace it with a WAG160v1?
I found in several web stores when they talk about WAG160Nv1 they use the code WAG160N-E1 and for the WAG160N-v2 they use the code WAG160N-EW. Can they make it more difficult??
I am trying to lower the transmission power on my WAG160N. I thought it should be an option in my advanced wireless settings of the web based setup page, however there is only transmission rate, n transmission rate and cts protection mode.
I have a WAG160N that I've used as a wireless router for ages. I have changed broadband providers and as they have supplied a new router I decided to use that and connect the old WAG160N via a Home Plug AV network and effectively use it as a range extender.
I have read some of the other forum posts and made the following changes:
1) Set up internet as Bridge mode 2) Set DCHP server as relay
When I connect via an ether net cable it works brilliantly but as soon as I try to connect wireless I can't talk to the internet.
I have LinkSys WAG160N V2 with the last firmware 2.00.20 I have very annoying issue, the Gateway always disconnected from time to time .. Some days it work so fine and some days it disconnect 20 times per day and I have every time to go Status >> Gateway and press connect , another weird thing is that sometimes it gaves me speed 3784 Kbps and sometimes 3500 Kbps , sometimes it gaves me the right speed 4700 Kbps i did think maybe it's my ISP problem , but after the upgrade the problem gone for 3 weeks then it back again, and when it back I did make factory reset and reconfigure it again regarding my ISP settings and it did work fine with 3784 Kbps speed and it should be 4700 Kbps.
I havce a WAG160N that is still on firmware version V1.00.16 andf I want to update it to the latest version. I have seen on url...WAG160N that there is two versions to download - Annex A and Annex B under version 2.0.
I have a home network of 2 desktop PCs. One runs Windows 7 64bit, the other WinXP with SP3. Both have all current updates applied. Both are wirelessly connected via a Cisco-Linksys WAG160N wireless router with Firmware Version:V1.00.16.When the two machines are in contact, file and printer sharing works fine and they appear on the Win7 network map. However, they regularly lose contact with each other BUT they both remain able to access the Internet via the WAG160N and appear in its ARP/RARP table.
