Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT110 Internet Connection Will Slow Down Or Drop Entirely

Jan 8, 2012

I purchased a WRT110 router about a 18 months ago.  I am currently experiencing an issue where the wireless connection to the router will become randomly erratic.  My internet connection will slow down or drop entirely.  Sometimes my laptop will disconnect from the router entirely.  I don't think it's the wireless card in my laptop since I have seen the issue on my desktop using a wireless N USB adapter, my Nintendo Wii, and my wife's Macbook, all within the last week.

I am positive it is the router.  I set up a coninuous ping command to the router accross my laptop's wireless using "ping -t 192.168.2.1" in a command prompt.  Most of the time, the round trip is 1 to 3 ms or <1 ms.  When I am experiencing the connection issues, the ping time will rise significantly, sometimes going as high as 2000 - 3000 ms.  About 25% of time, the ping will just time out.  When this starts happening, the only way I have been able to restore proper connectivity is to manually reboot the router.  The issue eventually re-appears.  Sometimes in a few days, sometimes in as little as five minutes.  I've gone so far as to restore the router to factory defaults and reconfigure it, but that has not made a difference.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT110 - Internet Connection Dropping?

Feb 4, 2012

Set up: Router: WRT110 1 computer connected via ethernet cable 1 computer using a wireless nic card from cisco

The problem is thus: if the first computer is actively using the internet (even activities as mundane as browsing one's email) the computer connected wirelessly will lose its connection to the internet yet maintain its connection to the router. Both can be actively using the internet, but the wireless will seemingly at random drop internet access (usually in 30-120 minute intervals).

The computer connected via the ethernet cable was unplugged for a week and during that time the wirelessly connected computer was used extensively and did not lose connection once.

I don't understand how to even frame this problem in a concise manner, much less seek information as to how to resolve it. It's seemingly giving all priority to the computer connected via ethernet but I that's just intution speaking.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT120N Drop Internet Connection

Sep 13, 2011

I’ve bought a router, and a wireless antenna for my laptop, since I have a high-speed internet outlet in the living room, but I use my laptop in the kitchen (I don’t have any other pc). So I’ve configured my Linksys WRT120N router in the living room, unplugged the ethernet cable from my laptop, plugged the wireless antenna in the kitchen, and everything was working fine with the wireless network. After about one month I was not able anymore to enter my network with the security key, there was actually no prompt for the security key, just a message “Cannot connect to the network”. I then had to reconfigure the router, going to the router IP address (I used the default settings, a blank for username, and “admin” as a password, as per instructions), use another network name, security key and password, and was able to start again a wireless network with the wireless antenna as before. This problem represented other 3 times (in the last 3 months), and was working fine, but now I cannot reconfigure the router anymore, since the IP address doesn’t accept BLANK/ADMIN anymore, and if I go ahead and reconfigure the router a message says I have to use the default settings in the IP address…

Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt320n Wifi Connection Drop When Internet Connected

Oct 11, 2012

I have experienced some strange behavior of WiFi connection using WRT320N router. ISP provides me the internet in 2 modes (day and night). During day mode max speed is 24 Mb/s and during night 60 MB/s. Modem ADSL (Cisco EPC3010) is connected to Linksys WRT320N and on router is configured WiFi.Now issue. In the day mode everything is perfect. Cable connection gives me 24 MB/s and WiFi connection around 22 MB/s so not so bad.  However when my internet speeds up to 60 Mb/s (cable connection via router gives exactly 60), WiFi connection instead speed up as well, just drop to max 17 Mb/s. I have tied several different settings on the router including changes in WiFi band, channel width, different channels (now channel is setup to 1 which is maybe not totally free but no so occupied) and others but unfortunately without significant improvement (in many cases connection just slowed down more).

And some details:
Wireless configuration (now)
Band: 2.4GHz
Mode: Wireless-N only
Channel Width: Auto (20MHz or 40 MHz)
Channel: 1

Wireless adaptor:  Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 (I know that this doesn’t mean anything but Win7 shows that connection is established with speed 144MB/s)Router firmware and WiFi card updated to the newest version.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT110 - Continually Have To Repair Connection?

Jun 23, 2012

Using WRT110 router, running XP, SP3 on both laptops, one a Dell and one an old Toshiba. Never any problem with the Dell (and Gateway before that), nor the iPad, Acer notebook, etc. However, the Toshiba keeps losing the connection to Internet (even though the icon says the connection is excellent). DH has to continually Repair in order to connect. I even reformatted the Toshiba, thinking it was something in the Registry. Now that it is back up and running (and all programs updated), it STILL periodically has to be repaired in order to connect.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT110 / Vizio Smart TV - DCHP Connection Not Available

May 15, 2013

I have a WRT110 and a Vizio smart TV - just changed internet providers to NuLink to get a Mbps line - previously had AT&T DSL 1.5 - when tech power cycled router every laptop and smartphone in the house connected with no issue - TV did not connect (it was on during time tech was doing install) - attempted to connect with password, failed to connect multiple times - sometimes message 'DCHP connection not available' message was displayed - called Vizio, 1 hour and 9 minutes of troubleshooting with no success, according to Vizio tech all settings on TV good recommended I contact Lynksys and ask them to ' check 2 ports - port 80 and port 446' - also advise 'connection is autopopulating to 101' - I believe he was referring to the IP address request - router set to WPA2 personal - note that when I first got TV 3 months ago I was able to connect to router no problem, but I do not know if TV had connection the day we switched internet providers.  I do have 2 fixed IP addresses entered an one of them ends in '101' - I do not know if that is significant or not.  The main reason for the internet switch was to get the TV online, disappointed that I could not get it done.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT110 Could Not Get The Internet

Apr 1, 2012

The unit seems to be Ok, but it's not. Power light is solid blue, Internet light is flashing blue when connected to cable modem, when wireless is on wireless light flashes blue, when ethernet cable is connected the correct 1-4 blue light flashes. The unit issues IP addresses wirelessly with or without security, and on ethernet, but with no Internet access.I can log on to the router and have upgraded firmware to 1.0.07. Tried reset button a number of times, makes no difference. When logged in to the router and looking at the Status screen, it shows no IP address, no Subnet Mask, no Default Gateway, no DNS, thus I can't get on the Internet. Connection type is Auto Config - DCHP. It does show the correct domain name as other wireless routers show.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Slow Internet Connection For Downloading Using E1500

Sep 29, 2011

I set up the e1500 and everything worked well, my download speed over the wifi was something like 50mps, now its down to .3 mps over the wifi.  When I'm hardwired to the router the speed goes back up and everything is fine.  The only problem is the wifi. Its not the ISP because my roommates aren't having a problem with their wifi at all.  I haven't changed anything on my computer except updated some drivers since I set up the router.  My network card drivers are up to date and so is the router's drivers.  I'm also doing all this about 5 feet away from the router.

I have a Dell XPS L502x running win 7 64 bit.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Slow Internet Connection Over Wifi On E1200?

Apr 15, 2012

I recently purchased an E1200 to replace a broken router. I have had good experiences with this model in the past which is why I bought it. However this has not been so pleasant. For some reason the internet connection over wifi is INCREDIBLY slow. I don't know why. It is fast when connected via ethernet to the router. I changed the MTU on the router to 1400, I set the wireless width to 20MHz and the channel to 11. I set security to WPA2. And yet it is still very very slow.  It's not a matter of how many users are on the network; I live in a house with five other people and it's slow regardless of whether everybody's home or nobody is home. It's like this on Macs, PCs, phones and even the Xbox 360. I just did a speed test. Wired was about 14MBps down, wireless was around .7MBps down. I simply cannot comprehend this discrepancy. The old router was very unreliable in terms of connectivity but at least it was always fast. And my laptop is fast at my mom's house where she has an E1200. I use a MacBook Pro from 2009 but like I said, this seems to be affecting everybody in the house regardless of hardware. The modem is a Ubee modem from Comcast. I'd upgrade it to a SURFBoard but my landlord controls all the utilities and I'd rather not have to explain to him how to call Comcast and tell them to register the modem's serial number to the account or whatever.

I saw one post recommending to changing the MTU from 1500 to 1400.  That did absolutely nothing.  My comcast internet is now slower than 14.4 dial up modem I had 16 years ago.  The strange thing is I can sometimes download at over 2 mbps with torrents.  It's mainly loading websites where the speed is so bad.

Linksys Router WRT110 - No Internet Access

I bought this router last year (out of warranty) and it has worked great... until 3 days ago. I came home and noticed my laptop (Dell Inspiron 1525) only had "local access only" in the network center. "Local only" both in a wired and wireless connection. I then unplugged my modem, my router, and restarted my computer. I turned everything back on and still nothing. I also checked for wires and the other simple stuff like that. The internet connection works normally when I plug Ethernet cable directly into my computer and bypass the router .My iPhone will connect to the router as well... just with no internet connection?

Wireless Internet Connection Constantly Drop Outs?

Ok, I have a huge problem with my wireless connection. It will constantly lose connection to the internet from my PC, IPod, Laptop etc. What will happen is a yellow warning triangle appears which tells me I've lost internet access. I have had the modem checked and replaced by the ISP with no success so it's likely that it's not a problem on their end. I've changed the wireless channel to move it away from my neighbours with no success.

Here is a copy of my ipconfig /all when the connection dropped out:

Linksys Wired Router :: CISCO RV082 Slow Internet Connection With Firewall?

I'm owner of Cisco RV082 router and I have a problem with firewall setup.I would like to deny internet access on port 80 (all sites) for group of users, and allow them internet access for one site by HTTPS (443)After applying rules internet connection is really slow.. Users have to wait something like a 30 sec for a website..I descovered that the reason for slow internet connection is DENY rule. After disbling DENY rule everything works fine..Now I have a few rules added to firewall:

Priority:1 Action: Deny Service: HTTP(80) Source interface: LAN Source:10.82.0.51-10.82.0.245 Destination: Any

Priority:2 Action: Allow Service: HTTPS(443) Source interface: LAN Source: 10.82.0.51-10.82.0.245 Destination: 80.64.59.42

What's wrong with those firewall settings?

After trying everything someone recommended upgrading the firmware to 1.0.7. Well, now my Windows 7 laptop connects but the XP laptop will not. Linksys Wireless Router :: Laptop Won't Connect To WRT110?

My laptop has no problem connecting to other wirelss routers. And my other devices have no problem connecting to our router. I've reset the router several times and changed the router to no password or security of any sorts. How can I get my Laptop to connect to my router?? I feel like it is a setting issue between the Router and the laptop. Is there a way I can erase the history of the router from the laptop and start fresh?? Like I've said I have reset the router several times. Does it have to do with my firewall?? It's just frustrating that my laptop can connect to anything but this Router. And my other devices like our blue-ray and Wii can connect to the router without problems so why can't my laptop and router connect to each other?
