View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently connecting my PC to a mobile phone as a Wireless Access Point to give that PC access the internet. I also have a small home network, with one other PC and a Game Console. I own a Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router. My problem is this. How do I share that internet connection with the rest of the home network? To the best of my knowledge its not possible to connect my mobile phone directly to my Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router.
So my alternative idea is to connect to the internet via one PC, set up that internet connection as "Shared." and then allow the other devices on the home network to connect thru this. My question is how do I set up my Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router to allow my other PC and game console connect to the internet? Bridge Mode? PPPoE?
I have my PC connected to the internet by way of a USB WiFi dongle, tapping into the neighbours internet access (with permission).Obviously, this leaves my RJ45 Ethernet connection on the PC, free and unused.I have a CCTV system also, which, if to get the most out of it, requires an internet connection via RJ45 Ethernet. Is it possible to allow my CCTV system access to the internet via Ethernet, connected to my PC, and then using the WiFi dongle access which the PC is already using, also?If so, how would one do this, after physically connecting the Ethernet cable between the PC and the CCTV system DVR?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an ASUS RTN66U running Tomato firmware.I have temporary (a month or so) Internet access via a Huawei E3131 3G USB dongle. I am posting this question using said Internet access.
I would like other machines on my network to be able to access the Internet in the usual fashion. That is, through my ASUS router. My initial thought was to plug the dongle into the router and configure it to connect. However, it seems tomato does not support my dongle because I get a message to that effect in the log.
So my next thought was to "point" my router at my Windows machine which has the dongle plugged into it. Thus, any machine connecting to the router would then route through my Windows machine to the Internet.
I have a Linux OS running here with a broadband DSL connection. Everything here is okay. A friend of mine has a 3G modem with a slow connection (I don't know the exact speed - near dial-up).
Well, I was thinking of setting up a VPN between mine and his PC, using Hamachi. I read on LogMeIn Hamachi website (while logged in) in a page to set up a VPN, where there are three types of network:
Mesh Network In a mesh network, every member is connected to every other member. It is a typical choice when it's essential to reach every member of the network.

View 1 Replies View Relatede've been using Connectify to share the internet connection in our house and it was working beautifully, then it stopped after we upgraded to pro but now it's working again. I'm using a windows xp and my sister is using windows 7. We were both connected to the wireless network but none of the computers could get on the internet; so I restarted my mom's laptop (which is the hotspot) and my sis's laptop started browsing but mine didn't and it's still not browsing. And when i check the wireless status it says "Sending 786 packets, receiving 5 packets"

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having 3 desktop computers. Out of these three, one PC (PC1, windows7) is connected to internet modem and other two (PC2 with XP,PC3 with XP) are sharing internet connection.
In PC1 I've installed Hamachi Logme In (virtual network). This software also creates one "Hamachi Network Interface" in "Network connections".The Problem is that each time I start/reboot PC1, I get connected to other 2 PCs but can't share internet connection, until I toggle (enable/disable) the state of "Hamachi Network Interface"

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am a novice to networking. I have a Internet Modem in the basement and two floors of computers. Each floor has its own wired ethernet network that has one wire in the middle of the network reaching down to the basement. The whole building wants to share the internet connection. What devices do you suggest for the basement and for each "hub" on the other floors?Originally we planned to put a router in the basement and share a wifi signal and put an ethernet switch on each floor. But the wifi in the basement has less range than placing the wifi on the top floor. I was contemplating puting a wired router in the basement and a wireless router on the top floor. Will that work?If not we could have wireless routers on each floor, but will they cause interference with each other? Can one be set in the basement to operate on one channel, while the other set on the top floor to operate on another channel?

I am planning to connect the two wired interfaces such that laptop2 can connect to internet through the wireless interface of laptop1. How to achieve this? Both systems use Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop edition
Below is how I have established network between my PC and my laptop at home (being novice in networking, it took me few days to achieve the feat). And it is working perfectly. I can easily share files between them.Laptop

I have connected the Desktop PC to the router using a LAN cable, and laptop to router over WiFi. Both, PC and laptop are running on Windows 7 OS, are on same HomeGroup, have same username / password. Also, I have connected the Ethernet cable to LAN port 1 of the router.Click here to view a graphical representation of the network. Can't post image here, because I don't have 10 reputation points. Now, what I want is use connect to Internet using a 3G USB modem on one device and share it over the network on the other. I tried Huawei and Micromax 3G USB modem. Both obtain a new IP address whenever I connect to Internet (means they have dynamic IPs). Rest, both have Subnet Mask as 255.255.255.255 and Default Gateway as 0.0.0.0. In that case, I cannot directly share Internet from the modem. Preferred DNS is blank for now in both, laptop and PC.What I am planning to do is to connect to Internet on laptop using the 3G modem and share the Internet connection over laptop's Wi-Fi (as hotspot) using Connectify, which I have done already. That, I suppose, will broadcast a static IP to connect to.Now what I can't figure out is that what changes should I make to the network settings of the router and the PC so that PC connects to the Internet broadcast by Connectify?
I have a Linksys/Cisco wireless router. For the purposes of a high def throughput, I have a wired connection from the router to a Windows Media Center appliance in a separate room. However, now I have a second media appliance (Roku device) that I want to run in a wired fashion as well. Here is the thing, I don't want to run a second Ethernet line from the router to new roku device. Is there some way I can share the existing ethernet line between the roku device and the media center appliance? Ideally, since the two devices would never be used at the same time, I was hoping some other network device (another router?) could be hooked up to split the line between the devices. Worst case, is there some simple splitter I can use? Obviously I am trying to avoid the worst case scenario: switching the ethernet connection manually between the two devices every time I want to go from one to the other.
