Internet Connection Freezes While Using Wifi Mobile Device?
Sep 19, 2011
Basically the internet connection on my PC will freeze when my mobile phone (HTC Desire) connected to the same network via WIFI is near the pC. If I remove the phone into another room the connection un freezes. If I switch the connection on the phone to the mobile network the problem never arises!

I am on a home LAN with a high speed broadband connection, Apple TimeCapsule router, and Windows 7 laptop. Starting this morning every 1-2 minutes my Internet connection stops working. I can not load webpages, send email, etc. A yellow triangle with an exclamation point appears over the WiFi icon on the taskbar. When my Internet connection stops I can disconnect from the wireless then reconnect. That will work for another 1-2 minutes only.
I do not recall doing anything that could have caused this (obviously something caused it, but I have not been screwing with drivers or anything and it has worked fine since I bought this computer 2 months ago from Dell). I have read several threads from where people had this problem in the past, but to no avail. For instance some people had multiple firewalls in conflict with one another or needed to renew their DHCP lease, but that is not true in my case.
Here are steps that I have taken to repair the problem, but with no luck:
- Restart the computer fully, many times
- Renew the DHCP lease
- Run the troubleshooter
- Changed my DNS servers from the ISP's to Google's
- Uninstalled all OpenVPN software
- Removed the stored WiFi network data from Windows then reconnect
- Verified that only 1 firewall is installed
- Tried it with the ethernet, which works
- Tried other computers on the WLAN, which works
- Ran anti-virus and anti-malware scans (no infection)
I do have a VirtualBox installation, but I have not run it in weeks. Even when I was connected for that 1-2 minute period I was unable to connect to my work OpenVPN, which is what led me to try uninstalling the VPN software, but that doesn't seem to be related.

I'm part of a Tech Support department of 50 located along the Gulf Coast. In years past we have found hurricanes and other disasters may have forced Engineers to work from home or out of hotel rooms for several weeks. Since that time we are now using VoIP phones that require a power over Ethernet (PoE) LAN connection. Along with the phone we already have an external power brick that we can take home that supplies the PoE LAN connection. However, that requires that you have access to the router so you can run a physical cable from the router to the power brick.
That's fine when you are at your own house and have access to your own router. But in the case of a hotel, you can't run a cable to the router. Many hotels have gone to wireless only and don't have a physical LAN jack to plug into. So I've been looking at something like the Netgear WNCE3001 Dual-Band Internet Adapter. That will supply a physical LAN connection from WiFi only. But it does not have PoE. So now if we are going to work from a hotel room, we need the VoIp phone, the power brick and the WiFi Internet adapter. 3 seperate items to lug around.
Is there such a device that would allow you to pickup a WiFi signal in a hotel room and has a physical LAN jack that is also capable of PoE? I could at least lose the power brick then.

We're looking to deploy a certificate-based VPN solution for users with mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, and Android devices at minimum). We currently have CheckPoint firewalls (with VPN capabilities, currently unused), SonicWall, and Aventail devices at our disposal, but would not be against adding new equipment if the solution is secure, easy to deploy, and easy to manage. We want to use client certificates for authentication, though we currently have no infrastructure in place for such a thing.I'm looking for starting points/reference documents to learn to deploy:
* Certificate infrastructure, including a secure and manageable way to deploy certificates to devices, and revoke them if devices are lost or stolen.
* VPN concentrator configuration guides (whether it be Cisco or one of our existing VPN-capable devices).

I have been sitting on the fence waiting and just using the crappy Apple find my phone, and activesync with exchange server 2010. Other than disable activesync for users without company provided phones because we do not want to get into the whole wiping someone's personal phone if they should misplace it/leave the company.I just read today that Spiceworks 7 (7 beta 1 will be in late May) will have MDM because of using MaaS360. There will be some free basic stuff or for a premium you can add on to it.

I'm having a really annoying problem which is making my laptop almost unusable and a hassle to use. My wireless network adapter will suddenly get "limited connectivity", won't connect to the internet but will still get the router.Disabling and then enabling it will cause my computer to freeze, requiring a hard restart. The same with troubleshooting. The only thing which fixes this is a fresh reboot, however it then occurs again within the hour.
Samsung RV511 (i5) notebook from around 2010

Came with Windows 7 64bit installed, issue began on this.I installed Windows 8 64bit Pro a month ago, did not reset settings. Problem persists
Broadcom 802.11n wireless network adapter
Device ID 4727
Driver date: 13/03/2012
Driver: 5.100.245.20
It's the latest driver. I keep uninstalling the driver and installing random ones from 2006, 2011 etc however the same problem persists.
This is my IP config when the adapter can't find a connection:

My client has a PC that can use a SIM card to gain access to the internet. They have an ASA5540 and are running IPsec VPN.
When accessing the VPN while the PC connects to the internet via use of the SIM card, he connects successfully to the VPN but is unable to access anything on the internal network. If he connects to the internet using wireless or wired, he connects successfully to the VPN and is able to access everything on the internal network.
Is this a limitation of the Cisco VPN Client? Perhaps something missing in the configuration? Or do they still require the mobility license (though I thought that was only for AnyConnect)?

I've been having an issue with my computer for a few months now. I'm quite capable of handling computers and repairs but this has me stumped. I have no issues connecting to the wireless internet at my office. It's tied directly to the company server so that's no surprise. While using Holiday Inn's internet this is also NO problem. When I'm at my house it's another story. If I boot my computer with wifi shutoff and ethernet disconnected the computer runs just fine. When I engage the WIFI or connect the ethernet the computer becomes non-responsive. The curse still moves but nothing is opening, closing, clearing off the screen. When I ctrl+alt+del, click task manager my desktop image appears but NO windows tool bar nor task manager appears. Not only does this occur on my home wifi, but my girlfriends parent's house and at an official Google job site.
It may also be worth mentioning that when coming back from a hibernation, (the black screen with the load bar on the bottome "resuming windows") it loads about 20% and stops, never loading the rest (I've waited hours before, NOTHING). My initial thoughts where that the Symmantec Endpoint Security had blocked certain router IP addresses and was causing the freezes. But this didn't seem to be the issue since my company deleted the Symmanted software and installed McAfee to fix my issue. I can connect to wifi at my office and holiday inn express BUT NOT at my home, other private networds, nor the Google jobsite wifi. My Smmantec Norton Enpoint Security was removed and replaced with McAfee Security. My laptop is an HP ProBook 6460b running Windows XP (5.1 with service pack 3).

Connected to time warner we have a belkin 2.4ghz 802.11g g-router. The internet on the main desktop is on and used constantly all day, with 2 laptops and ipad used intermittently. Constantly thorughout the day the internet freezes up and has to be unplugged and restarted though there is no pattern to the freeze, perhaps only be the main desktop may be in use alone, perhaps all the above may be in use. Should I upgrade service from time warner or upgrade my older router.

I'm having a really annoying problem which is making my laptop almost unusable and a hassle to use. After a while of my laptop being on, my wireless network adapter will suddenly get "limited connectivity", and won't connect to the internet.Disabling and enabling the adapter will cause my computer to freeze, requiring a restart. The same with troubleshooting. The only thing which fixes this is a fresh reboot, however it always occurs again within the hour.Sometimes the entire adapter will randomly just disable itself, and the computer will completely freeze, meaning I have to press the power on/off. Sometimes the adapter will just disappear from Device Manager. Searching for "plug and play" devices will cause it to freeze.
Apart from having to reboot, what also seems to work is disabling the wifi from PC Settings, putting the computer to sleep, then awaking it and turning wifi back on. I've had to do that 6 times whilst typing this post.I've tried flushing my dns, registering it, renewing and releasing. Assigning a static DNS address. All those things. Though I may have done them wrong.Operating system: Originally came with Windows 7 64bit installed, issue began on this.I installed Windows 8 64bit Pro a month ago, did not reset settings.
